Hello

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
MotherofZ · 25/09/2007 12:41

BeckyAu - why, oh why, did you mention chocolate?? now I have to go out and buy some....

OP posts:
mixedmama · 25/09/2007 12:42

MotherofZ - you are responsible for my crazy bounty addiction

mixedmama · 25/09/2007 12:42

MrsMcJnr - my DH has to watch TV drives me insane.

MotherofZ · 25/09/2007 12:44

Mrs McJnr - am sure we had a little 'go' to see who could guess what the Z (DD name) stood for and am pretty certain you got it right! Your nephew sounds so sweet. I love the fact the DD is at that age now where is talking non-stop and asking loads of questions (funny ones mind you - Mummy - where's Iggle Piggle gone?).

MotherofZ · 25/09/2007 12:46

MM - you have such a good memory! - I sometimes forget what I type. Debating whether to:

  1. Go M&S and get a chocy profiterol (sp?) dessert.
  2. Have a Bounty
  3. Have a chocolate flap jack

Decisions, decisions!!!

mixedmama · 25/09/2007 12:49

MotherofZ I had shepherds pie aswell... mmm.

Iggle piggle drives me mad... that programme really grates me but DS loves it.

MotherofZ · 25/09/2007 12:51

lol - do you not think it is weird that Iggly Piggle and Upsy Daisy are constantly snogging each other?? lol

Right need that chocy fix...

I noticed that for the first time on Saturday and Dh was like "what are they doing" it is rather excessive.

BeckyAu · 25/09/2007 12:55

Oh so sorry MotherofZ but I just couldn't help myself! I have a "friend" who works at the PR for the choc and she gave me loads and loads which in theory should have lasted weeks if not months but is nearly gone . So let's look at this in a positive light... unless you have a credit card on you or a trolley you're unlikely to buy/eat as much as me this morning so therefor your calorie intake is pretty minimal

Mixedmama - was what good (sorry mush brain!)? Chocolate was wonderful, though think you probably mean the DVD? I like Davina but if you don't I think she'd drive you mad! If I did it every day (oh sooo unlikely) it'd prob be annoying but I have to say I did feel really good after doing it so I am going to try try try to do it 3 times a week as ultimately I am abusing my body with chocolate and lethargy and it made me feel nice so that's gotta be good.

So what happens now if I mention that I'm thinking about buying some Jaffa Cakes when I go to buy all the stuff for spag bol? Not had them in years but for some reason they suddenly popped into my head. I sound like a complete sugar freak! I'm not really xx

Cazzybaby · 25/09/2007 13:02

Beller - no anti B's yet he wants the lab to test my wee first gotta wait till tomorrow for them, I am gonna go out and stock up on Cranberry juice to try and flush it out!! Grrrr bloody doctors!!

Angechica · 25/09/2007 13:04

Hi ladies

Just to note - an interesting looking programe on Channel 4 tonight called "Bringing Up Baby" looking at different methods of baby care from the 50's, 60's and 70's. As a hippies' daughter & child of the 70s (my mum was big on natural childbirth etc) I fancy the 70's mthod more I have to say! Apparently the 50's is a Gina Ford-esqe routine, leaving baby to cry etc. Eek!

Naetha · 25/09/2007 13:22

Sorry you've got a UTI Cazzy - some doctors can be so bleeding annoying when it comes to UTIs - I used to get them every 3-6 months, I knew the symptoms within about an hour of it coming on, and yet they still insisted on me giving them a sample to be sent away.

Thankfully my new GP has a system for UTIs where you just ring them up and they sort the prescription out for you there and then, but thats only if you have a history of UTIs. My only recommendation is gallons and gallons of cranberry juice and/or water. Just make sure you drink loads of fluids, although if you're just drinking water make sure you take in some salts as well, you can do this just by eating anything really, salt and vinegar crisps always did it for me

Thankfully (crosses fingers) I've only put on about 3/4 of a stone so far since I got pregnant, although I've put on nearly a stone and a half from my lowest weight. If I can keep my total weight gain to under 2 stone I'll be happy, then at least a fair whack of it is going to be baby Having said that, all this talk of chocolate is NOT good for my figure!

On the bilingual front, although DH doesn't speak any Welsh, I'm hoping to speak a little Welsh to LO when he comes along, so at least he can speak a few words to cheer the grandparents up Welsh was my first language until I was about 4 years old (although you'd never have thought it as I have a broad Yorkshire accent now!) and when I speak to young children, especially my niece and nephew, I get the overwhelming urge to speak Welsh - hopefully this will also give me a chance to retain some of my language

beller · 25/09/2007 13:23

all the talk of chocolate...went to get a bounty and they didnt have any...so munching on a toffee crisp! mmmmmmmm

Mrsmcjnr - I really think my firend would have serious issues if i used Ava...my favourite girls name at the moment is Amelie, so shes safe at the moment

Neuro - Did you say on the other thread that you were starting to feel nervous about the birth? Will the father be there with you, or you having mum/sis/friend? you have probably said, but memory is non existant! x

mixedmama · 25/09/2007 13:32

Amelie is so pretty really like it.

beckyau - yeah meant the dvd... I love the Lilia Kopylova latinasize - it is brill... cant do it at the min but as soon as i feel ready for exercise will be back on it.... and handy little 15 min routines, so hopefully will fit in with the kids.

Neuro · 25/09/2007 13:48

Beller - I felt nervous about the birth after the scene in Knocked Up where you see her ladybits as she's giving birth. It just made me feel funny. And i think it sort of got my imagination going plus i was still really pissed off about my bike and think some negativity took hold in my brain.
Re: birth partners, well depending on what part of the country i am, either baby's father or a member of my family, but knowing me, i'll only want them to keep me company for the first stage. I dont' think i'll want anyone in when it gets to the pushing messy stage. Plus i'm going to attempt a bit of self hypnosis and fight the pain so it's a mental battle rather than physical. Well that's the plan! So don't wnat anyone asking if i want a cup of tea, will break my concentration!
I feel quite ready now. I knwo it's going to be painful, but i know i'll be ok and of course there'll be a wonderful present waiting for me at the end!

mixedmama · 25/09/2007 13:49

that sounds like a very sensible way of looking at it.

Neuro · 25/09/2007 13:49

p.s.Have already started to tell myself that each contraction no matter how painful is a step closer to my baby. Awwwww CAN'T WAIT TO MEET HIM OR HER. Really excited plus i have no idea if boy or girl.

Naetha · 25/09/2007 14:03

I have to admit I was really enjoying Knocked Up right up until the point where she was in hospital - then it was a bit of a reality check for me! I've kind of been avoiding all thoughts of what's going to happen between now and meeting my baby, and the pain its going to involve!

mixedmama · 25/09/2007 14:05

Ireally want to watch it now... intrigued.

MotherofZ · 25/09/2007 14:10

all I do is get some chcolate and the conversation has sped on!!
Cazzy- hope you feel better.

Am not thinking about the pain at all. I'm in the 'get it over and done with mode' and having loads of day dreams of me in hospital with LO and trying not to think about the labour too much.

OP posts:
beller · 25/09/2007 14:15

I think im in a similar mind set to you Neuro!
I have bought a self hypnosis book (havnt opened it yet),and have bought ina may Gaskin book on natural childbirth. Maybe its the sheer bliss of ignorance , but im not feeling at all scared at the moment, but i have time x

gingeme · 25/09/2007 14:29

Oh does it hurt then
I wont have to worry about contraception this time round Dh got his snip Halloween. Sorry but that still makes me laugh
Ive gone right off choc at the moment. Im into shortbread biscuits now. Dh bought some form the bakery at Morrisons last night and apart from the 4 my ds's have had I think Ive had about 8 so far today
Well thats about it for now.
See you later ladies. xx

mixedmama · 25/09/2007 14:34

I have been eating all day long.... just had a violent vomitting episode and now feel shitty and want to go home.

barristermum · 25/09/2007 14:58

Am having small chocolate attack with an out of date box of Ferrero Rocher found at back of cupboard - seem ok tho' the interor isn't as gloopy as normal!
mixedmama - love Lilia - am getting so overexcited about the return of strictly come dancing at the weekend. How tragic am i. and re tampon issue - clealry there is SO much I have to discover - aaargh!

Neuro · 25/09/2007 15:05

I have been eating all day long all my life i think!

Mixedmama - maybe a trip to the cinema will do you the power of good. It really is a top film.

Naetha - were you alarmed by what they showed - even though it was probably a plastic fake one.
It freaked me out, reminded me of that 80's show V with aliens!

Anyway best not to think too much about THAT.
