MamaMaiasaura · 21/09/2007 15:06

Our latest fav name is Samuel and I like it being Sam for when he is older. Was Daniel (which is still in running). We also had Matthew, Sebastian and Reed. Reed is likely to be a middle name now. Owen is def a middle name choice.

For a girl our choice was Elizabeth Rose.

MotherofZ · 21/09/2007 15:15

funny how we keep changing our minds about baby names. Am sure we'll go through another change of names before LO is born (for boy anyway, Hannah is defo for a girl).

Mrs McJnr - I would be suspicious of any healthcare prof who discourages questions. Makes me think they are trying to cover up a lack of knowledge. At the very least it shows a paternalistic approach to care giving - eg she knows best what you need - there is no consideration given to what you would like or perceive you need. Hence the care is not user led, but clinician led. Synopsis: what a bitch!

Bettymamma · 21/09/2007 15:32

well said ladylush - how are you doing by the way?

Awen - how amusing, that's my dd's name but we call her Betsy - shhhh! don't tell anyone. Don't want RL people to find me!

beller · 21/09/2007 15:32

for Boys i like Connor and Ethan...also liek Daniel, but wouldnt like it shortened to Dan or Danny A bit difficult when they go to school?!

ladylush · 21/09/2007 15:36

I'm fine bettymamma. How are you?

Bettymamma · 21/09/2007 15:45

Very good thanks. Bored at work. Miss you though! - you are plummymummy aren't you? Have seen goingfor3 is on the July thread.

ladylush · 21/09/2007 15:50

Yes miss you guys too. Yes I am the artist formerly known as plummymummy Goingfor3 is pregnant! Due early June. Fingers crossed for her firmly. Flosspot is too - don't know if she was on our thread but she has been on the m/c one so Mrs McJnr would know her. A lucky month so far

ladylush · 21/09/2007 15:51

Are you having your lo at St. Helier or St. Georges?

mum2sons · 21/09/2007 15:54

Afternoon, just escaped from the Tweenies to the computor. Hope all are doing ok.

I am soooo tired at the moment. Probably something to do with the fact that DS2 wakes us up at 5 and is totally hyper all day.The tiredness is making me a bit grumpy and down unfortunately.

Am starting to wonder how I will cope with him and a small baby and a teenager I got very little help last time around (except DH is really good and supportive but is not here all day). I did get v bad PND with both boys, worse with no.2 despite actually having a partner around! Nobody except DH knows that I had PND. I was so irrationally ashamed I told nobody and noone would have had a clue as I am v good at covering up and am generally a very cheerful person!

Sorry to be depressing! I did get through and came out the otherside but am dreading going there again.

xxx

mixedmama · 21/09/2007 16:02

Mum2Sons - completely know what you mean. I admitted for the first time only a few weeks ago on one of the threads on here that I had PND. You are not alone and remember that we will all be on post natal as well to help each other.

Bettymamma · 21/09/2007 16:10

Fabulous news ladylush. I shall keep an eye on the threads. Hope you are well and you ds is too. Having this one at East Surrey. Not sure how good or bad that is!

mum2sons - sorry to hear you had pnd. My mum and my sis suffered very badly with it. I know its horrendous and hope you have lots of support this time. You to Mixedmama.

MamaMaiasaura · 21/09/2007 21:21

Beller - I like your name choices. Cant have either Ethan or Connor due to close friends dc having them as names.

Ladylush - fab description of MrsMcJnrs MW Goingfor3 & flosspots news is simply fantastic

Re PND - I had it badly with ds1. Hoping I dont get it again. Hoping the fact I am in diff relationship, situation, large age gap etc will be a positive towards not getting it again. I am also determined not to over-do it.

Cant believe dp is going in the morning. Am going to pop off now and spend some time with him, just logged in quick.

LilyLoo · 22/09/2007 09:13

morning all just wanted to pop in and say hello before i off to dancing lessons, a party for ds and then his swimmming lesson. Hopefull will be able to call somewhere to look at new bathroom flooring some time too ! How exciting
Hope you all have lovely weekend

MrsMcJnr · 22/09/2007 10:49

Hey just popping in quickly whilst viewers look round the house

MotherofZ ? hope you are less worried today hon sounds like the baby?s shifted position.

Thanks Cazzy would be fab if we sold it Your names are lovely I particularly like Imogen and Amelie

Bettymamma ? Lol at crumbs in the bra! Its wonderful news about Goingfor3 isn?t it? I have been talking to her on the pg after mc thread and she is on really good form

Angechica ? I?ve always liked James but it would be pronounced Hames in Spain and I don?t like that much so it?s out for us. Like Hannah and Lucy too

Lots of nice names coming out now: DH and I have decided; Xavier for a boy, Aaliyah for a girl

LOL thanks Ladylush

ladylush · 22/09/2007 12:53

Loving those names Mrs McJnr
Bettymamma - are you having a girl then? How lovely. Don't know much about East Surrey but hope all goes well for you.
Hi everyone else

nicky6 · 22/09/2007 16:57

Dear all

I have five minutes peace and quiet before the madness begins so i thought i would drop a line. Its my little sisters 30th birthday and we are all going out dressed in 80's gear for dinner then to an 80's roller disco - although i have been told firmly by dh and my mum ( both will be there) that I am not allowed to skate - very annoying but probably safest - although many years ago I could skate quite well - DH says this is the problem as i will forget i am no longer 15 and forget i am 35 - annoying thing is he is right . In about 25 mins I have my mum and step dad, my 2 brothers, one of their girlfriends, my sister 3 of her friends and my husbands sister and her friend all coming here to get ready to go out. Also have at least 5 staying here tonight!!!!!

The nursery saga continues in our household and we simply cannot agree on where the baby will go - i am adamant that i dont want all his computer stuff in the same room as the baby he says its not a problem and the study can double as a nursery. I am ready to kill him.

I have my 20 (well in fact nearly 23 week) scan on friday so hope all will be well.

Still getting bad pain under my boobs despite being remeasured and changing bras gone from 34G to 36 F!!! Anyway Osteopath appointment on tuesday to try to find cure.

Bought new car - and although could never take place of my lovely beetle convertible I am quite pleased with it. It is A3 turbo quattro and has been modified to be a high performance car with body kit and 4 exhausts - completely over the top and looks a bit boy racer like but great fun and 5 doors, isofix seats etc etc but has cool things like ipod kit and leather seats. Bought second hand from auto trader but only a couple of years old and good deal was struck. So family (ish) car has been purchased.

Well sorry this is a bit long but not really getting chance during the week.

Nasty sick thing still not gone away - boo hoo xx

BWMum · 22/09/2007 19:37

Lulubump - I was the same, sonographer didn't say anything. I was originally booked to see the consultant because I am rh negative blood type and they wanted to explain (again) about the injection needed. But as scan results were out, he covered that too. I must say, I really had a bit of a shock as we'd had the scan over a month before I saw the consultant and had been given no warnings then. He did say it could move up and, given I'm healthy in all other respects and have had no bleeding, hopefully it will.
I'd suggest ringing your MW - I did a whole lot of reading since Thursday and it does seem to be common for you to be asked to abstain from sex and also not to use tampons or to douche (although not sure what you'd be using a tampon for given that we're pregnant....!)

LadyLush - not sure if your question was for someone specific or generally, but I am booked into St Georges. Obviously haven't got to the "business end" of it but so far the midwives have been pleasant and consultant was nice (even if he did give me bad news!). They evidently have a new birth unit which opened this month I think so am hoping to go and look at that in October or so.
I had a friend who had her baby at St Helier (in 2001) and didn't have a great experience (it was known in the area at St Hell hole) - but I have read posts from people on here who thought it was good.

So glad to hear goingfor3 is on the June thread!

fruitful · 22/09/2007 20:15

Flipping placentas. I used to wonder about the "not using tampons" thing too, but this time I am bleeding / spotting all the time and I can't take ds swimming!

Not very much chance of mine moving (two previous cs, placenta is across cervix, bleeding already). But v good chance when its your first I think. And you only need 2cm clearance to have a vaginal birth, and its bollocks about not having a homebirth (they use any excuse to say you can't have those).

MrsMcJ - I've nearly got all our Christmas pressies too! Well there is no way dh would manage it if I end up in hospital.

Ooh I love tiny baby clothes. I've been sorting out ours - its a good job this one is a boy because I've no idea where dd's clothes have got to. I've been going all gooey, sitting folding ickle bitty teeny vests and hats...

Cazzy - congrats on the pink one! Lots of fun to clothes-shop for girls.

tripletsandtwins · 22/09/2007 21:21

Sorry no time to catch up! I've got my 3 hellions coming back home in a minute but I thought I would post a quickie!

I hope you're all well...is anyone else having terrible headaches? I had an awful 1 earlier, so much I just lay with a wet cloth over my eyes for a few hours, because it hurt to move my head!

Still no more twin pregnacies on this thread yet?

MotherofZ · 22/09/2007 21:57

Evening all! Not doing much this evening hence the posting as there is naff all on telly.
Thanks Mrs McJnr - LO has defo changed position as i can feel kicks under rib cage and more on the right hand side (never on the left side). Kicks are defo stronger aswell which has reassuered me more after the fall.
Nicky6 - have a nice time out.
Nothing much else to say other than checking in and having a read at what everyone else has written.....

gingeme · 22/09/2007 22:05

Evening. Yes tripletsandtwins ive been getting realy bad headaches for quite a few days now. Been taking paracetamol but they havnt touched it. I have a post natal appt on Wednesday will ask my mw what it could be.
I have been washing ickle baby clothes too today.
Dh has put a rail in the bottom of our built in wardobe for ds3's clothes so we are using his chest of drawers for babys clothes.
Hope you have a brilina tnad safe night for your sisters birthday. Sounds great

MamaMaiasaura · 22/09/2007 22:28

evening ladies. I should really be going to bed but cant be arsed to go and move ds into his bed atm. DP went to Japan today. Missing him lots already.

Ds has spent the last week falling asleep in my bed and dp has been lifting him into his own (ds is a big lad now ) I am going to have to coax ds to walk tonight.

Busy day tomorrow, rugby practice in the morning and then off to my sisters for rest of day and tea.

Gingeme - I loved washing all the baby clothes. I look at the clothes, then at ds and it only seems yesterday he was wearing them.

Tripletsandtwins - sounds like a full on weekend for you, have a fab time

Motherofz - ouch with the rib kicking. Pudding has been bouncing/hitting down low today. Very disconcerting.

LilyLoo · 23/09/2007 09:13

morning all , yes i too had awful headache gingeme, twins yesterday but i drank a large bottle of water and that seemed to clear it so wondered if i was a little dehydrated.
Also managed to pop to mohercare yesterday and have a look round and the dc's both bought baby a teddy each. icked up a brochure to order the bedding too. Although in two minds whether to wait until it's born so we can blue/pink. I had bright colours for the other two.
Hope everyone having good weekend, and you aren't too lonely Awen.
