Morning ladies. Had a terrible night last night. Ds3 woke about 4 times at various times. I just hope when his tonsils are gone he starts sleeping better.
Went to my sil's for chinese last night and both dh and I had bloody heartburn all night. So we were Gaviscon sharing
Then at about 6.30 am a car alarm went off and no one seemed to be bothered to turn it off. What is the point of having an alarm if your not going to check your car!!!
Dh went back to work today too so Im looking after two tired dc till about 5.
But on a good note ds4 is realy up on his feet now. Not quite walking but wants to be lead around one handed now and is loving it. He has a big grin on hid face. Love him.
No headache today though which is another plus.
Have a good day all xx

Hello everyone,

It's fantastic thinking ahead about names. I think (but don't know) that I'm having a little girl, and I would like to call her Annabel Cara Louise. I'm going for conventional names because I don't really like my real name and I don't have any middle names to choose from. dh doesn't know that it's probably a girl and suggests Benedict for a boy. I'm not mad on that myself because it reminds me of cough mixture or monks!

On Wed. I have a uterine artery scan because of my advancing years. Beannie is quite small (at 24 weeks) and nobody except family and close friends know that I'm expecting. But I am 5ft11 tall so may my height disguises the bump.

It's great reading about the various options for prams/buggies. I think I am probably getting one off my sister.

Has anyone been tested for Strep B for before they have the beannie? Or anyone heard of strep B?

All the best to everyone xxxx

Cazzybaby · 23/09/2007 15:11

Hiya everyone

Have spent the day cleaning, hoovering and tidying - didnt think nesting was ment to start untill the end of pregnancy!!

Molly - Anabelle is one of my DP's fav names at the moment I think its lovely.

Hope you are all having a nice relaxing weekend xxxx

MrsMcJnr · 23/09/2007 16:21

Thanks Ladylush

Hey ladies so excited ? we?ve just bought our buggy!! after weeks and weeks of deliberation and homework and leg work and hunting on the internet ? we have finally decided In the end we decided not to compromise and go for what we really wanted and so with a big breath (and feeling slightly sick about the price), we ordered our bugaboo cameleon plus but then, we found that it we ordered the foot muff and car seat adaptors we?d get the maxi cosi car seat free which is a great bonus and even better DPIL want to pay half . It feels so real and massive and a bit scary ordering the buggy but we were told that time would become and issue soon as there is am 8 week lead time at the mo. DH is so excited!! Now we can turn our attentions to somewhere for Beanie to sleep!

Hi Nicky6 ? your sister?s 30th sounds like great fun!! I used to go to roller discos all through the 80s my Mum went skating with us when she was 4 months with my sis and fell and hurt her back really badly, my father was furious!! Sorry that you still have a stalemate on the nursery! Hope the scan goes well on Friday ? you?ll see so much! Sorry to hear that the pains are still there, my new bras seemed to have cured mine. Congrats on the new car!

BWmum ? hope you are getting over the shock of the consultant?s appointment x did you know you could get pop up cots that are smaller and less bulky than travel cots?

Fruitful ? sorry to hear about the spotting/bleeding LOL yes, my DH would be world?s worst santa if the present buying was left up to him!

Hello Tripletsandtwins ? sorry to hear about the headaches. I?ve had them occasionally and resort to the wet flannel too. You seem to be the only multiple one on here I guess most of us would know by now if there were two unless one was hiding!!

MotherofZ ? glad all is well after that fall.

Gingeme ? sorry about the headaches and the heartburn

Awen ? hope you are not feeling too lonely hon.

Lilyloo ? ah that?s lovely about your DC being the baby something

Molly65 ? hello. Your name or your baby is lovely Benedict is unusual but I like it hope the scan goes well, is that to check the flow in the placenta? I think that they are going to be doing that on me too because I have blood clotting issues. I was reading about Strep B and know a few people who have it and have had issues or have had antibiotics at birth. In fact, I signed a petition last week for routine testing. I asked my MW about it and she thought I was crazy and tried to dismiss it. I have read up about it on the charity?s website (will try and find the link) but I am still not sure whether or not I should try and get a test done, I personally would rather be safe than sorry but it doesn?t appear to be the attitude of the health professionals you can buy a test yourself but I wonder whether the MPs would even accept the results of that.

Cazzybaby ? take it easy hon.

Busy week for us ? my new direct report starts tomorrow, we have a Real Nappy demo at the hospital tomorrow night, and then a 24 week scan followed by Consultant?s appointment on Thursday and then off on hols for 8 days on Friday! I am hoping to make some progress on my birth plan this week so I can ask the consultant some meaningful questions on Thursday.

Enjoy the rest of the weekend!

sideways · 23/09/2007 16:58

Hi everyone, I'm still feeling really sick and being sick every so often. It's really pi**ing me off but there doesn't seem to be anything I can do about it.

Molly- how old are you? Is 65 your year of birth? If so, I'm really happy that I'm not the oldest on this thread ! I haven't been offered a uterine artery scan though,

Thinking about strep b test. Pretty sure midwife will be against it as she doesn't seem to show much enthusiasm for anything really!

We looked at the Bugaboo as well but at that price decided against it for what will definitely be our last baby.

Hope everyone is having a good weekend.

Molly65 · 23/09/2007 17:08

Hi,

65 is my year of birth and they want to check there is enough blood going through the placenta. I must admit I'm beginning to look older now, though I don't feel it!

I'm glad some of you like the names. It's must always be difficult. Some that friends have used recently are Isabella, Zara and Honor.

My sister had Strep B and so did a cousin. I'm going to ask for a test. My sister says that the test is routine in other European countries.

Sorry to hear about people's headaches and sickness. I've been feeling really healthy but I think the LO is helping me by being so easy and also so little!

byexxxx

ladylush · 23/09/2007 19:59

Hi BWMum - yes I always get you and Bettymamma mixed up. Why? Cos I am dim

Naetha · 23/09/2007 20:15

Evening all - what a weekend!!

Just come back from a day of geekery at the NEC (playing around with little plastic models and computer games) which was great fun but a lot of time on my feet, and then a 2 hour drive back. Still I got some nice stuff including a nice T-shirt for DH, an awesome board game, and some ideas for DH's next tattoo

And last night we had our Softball association annual jolly which was good fun, although not as much fun when you can't drink! The evening seemed to last an awful lot longer, and I wasn't quite in the mood for dancing! Not to mention the fact that DH was very amorous (well, I was wearing a figure hugging low-cut top and its not like he needs any encouragement) and we had a bit of an argument because he thought I was being horrible to him because I wouldn't snog him on the dance floor! Ah well, it was all worked out in the end, but made the evening hard work!

I could really do with another weekend to recover from it all, but back to work tomorrow. Thankfully, I've got 10 weeks now until I go on maternity leave, so I can start counting down the days!

Also had a very successful saturday morning in Mothercare - we decided to take the plunge and get all the pushchairs we were interested in demonstrated to us, and find out which car seats would and wouldn't fit in our new car. We've decided to go for the Quinny Buzz, and although it wasn't our intention originally, to go for a Maxi-Cosi infant carrier that slots on the buzz, as well as being used as a car seat. Originally we were trying to aim for stuff that we'd only have to buy once, so a car seat suitable from birth to 4, as well as something like a Maclaren Techno suitable from birth to 4, but they both looked so big that it felt like a newborn would get completely swamped in there. I think we've made the right decision, even if it does mean buying a new car seat in a year's time, and a new pushchair in 2 years time.

Nicky6 - your new car sounds awesome - I think you're very much a girl after my own heart - I like my cars sexy and powerful!

I've also been getting major headaches - thankfully they're kept at bay with paracetamol, but as soon as the paracetamol wears off they come straight back

Sorry to hear about the people that have placenta previa - hopefully it will be resolved prior to the birth!

Also some great scan results - more people finding out the flavour

Right, I'm off to veg out in front of the TV - have a good evening!

ayrshirelolo · 23/09/2007 22:43

Evening folks!
Just a quickie before i go to bed, delighted to hear about goingfor3 and that everyone seems to have had a good scan!
Names are fun... i like everyones choices so far! not sure the etiquette in real life when you totally hate the name your friend has chosen though, so far i've lied to one of the girls at work and said "how lovely" etc etc even though I think what she and her dh called their baby is almost child abuse! (name itself ok, but with their surname added on it's nearly criminal as it rhymes...)
i was thinking Tabitha for a girl till step daughter pointed out she would get called Tabby which is too feline, so am now considering Joanne, Samantha or Alexandra (i like names that shorten into something cool and unisex!) or Max, Rory or Simon for boys. Dh thinks Simon is just asking for "simple" as a nickname though... what do you all think?
Anyway, hope you all have a peaceful night without heartburn, children squawking, missing your man, headaches or puddings wriggling round all night!
lolo xx

mixedmama · 24/09/2007 07:59

Morning everyone,

Loving all the names. Molly65 - I quite like Benedict, reminds me of Much Ado About Nothing and I do like literary names, could always be Ben later on if he / you wanted which is quite cool too. MrsMcJnr - love Xavier, Aaliyah is also nice. Just trying to remember all the ones posted, I knwo that they were all very pretty and boys lovely and classic. We are doing a poll in our families now as we are down to two names Ediz and Ilhan either of which we would both be happy with, done a little poll on Mumsnet and got a 5-5 result, so if we are still 50-50 then will just see on the day.

RE: etiquette on names in real life. I just smile and say lovely to everything. Everyone has different tastes etc. I think children tend to just fit their names anyway, they just belong to them.

Fruitful / BWmum - sorry to hear about the placenta problems you are having. I have a friend who recently had complete placenta praevia and i know it was not pleasant so wishing you both the best.

Gingeme - congrats on DS4 wanting to walk that is great, wont be long now then before you are chasing him around as well.

For all those with headaches, still get them from time to time altho they have cleared up loads, which is unusual as I actually suffer with migraines and things when not pregnant, but not going to complain.

Congrats to all of you who have bought / made a decision about buggies etc.

Feel very proud of myslef that I have started putting together my hospital bag. Got all my toileteries, all mini sized things from Superdrug, maternity pads (altho need LOADS more) bought a box of breast pads at the weekend and some little babygros for baby, so tiny. Also got myslef some comfy bras, altho now I dont look like a mother but a granny.

This week on my list to buy are nighties, slippers etc so going to make a trip to Matalan and get some cheapy bits.... Mothercare is such a rip off for these things.

MotherofZ · 24/09/2007 08:11

Morning all,
Hope you all are well..
Lilyloo, Neatha and Ginger - hope your headaches get better. If it persists best to get it checked out with m/w.
Molly - I had Group B Streps in my least pregnancy and have not been tested for it with this pregnancy. Am going to ask my m/w if she will be testing me and if noy then why why why?!! There is a really useful official website run by a Group B Streps support group - can't remember the address off the top of my head - try 'googling' for it.
Mrs McJnr and Neatha - congratulations on finally choosing your buggy. I'll be getting my DD old Graco travel system out of the loft soon!
Hello to everyone else. Keep smiling - not long to go now!!!
(10 weeks until m/l - 13 weeks until due date!!)

mixedmama · 24/09/2007 08:13

I was actually planning on working until 39 weeks, leaving Xmas week, but my mum commented last week abotu how tired I look and if I will make it that far, now starting to think that i am maybe being a little ambititious.

MotherofZ · 24/09/2007 08:19

There is a lady at my work who was planning on doing the same but gave up at 37 weeks as it was too much of a struggle. Am leavin gat 37 weeks - will give me some 'me' time before the LO arrives and give me a chance to sort some household stuff out and cook and freeze loads of food!
Did you have a good weekend MM?
Anyone else around this early in the morning??

OP posts:
mixedmama · 24/09/2007 08:22

I left really early last time as i fell out with my boss so left at Xmas when i was due in Feb.

The good thing is that since i am temping I dont really need to make a cast iron decision, if it gets too much i can work till the end of any given week and then stop. I am really feeling it this time tho so doubt I will make it to be honest. 37 weeks seems very reasonable.

Weekend was good, done some Mothercare shopping on Saturday, went to the theatre on Saturday night - very very funny play and tickets just £12 each, bargain. Yesterday, just chilled at mum and dads for abit then DH decided to do a BBQ on the balcony, which was highly amusing. Everyone else enjoy the weekend.

MotherofZ · 24/09/2007 08:30

Had a nice lazy weekend, just relaxed and didn't do much. Still is my 'cooking' phase (DH thinks it's my nesting phase - a bit early though??) and made loads of lovely dishes. I think I need to start organising myself a little now and decide what I need for the LO and myself - don't know why I am feeling so relaxed about it. Apart from buying body suits and sleep suits I've bought nothing else, although admittly I've saved a lot of stuff from when DD was born. Defo going to invest in an electric breast pump. Think I might start buy a few things for my hospital bag this coming weekend.

OP posts:
mixedmama · 24/09/2007 08:34

I had a cookign phase, seems to have waned a little now tho, altho still trying.

I am just trying to buy a few bits and pieces each week and if I see soemthing on offer I just buy it, nappies etc.

Building up a nice little box of bits for LO as well. Kept a few really nice little bits from DS, not a lot but some cool bits and got one little tracksuit and a little set 9babygro, vest etc) for LO at the weekend. Really regret getting rid of DS things as he had somme really gorg tracksuits for 0-3 months which would have been perfect.

beller · 24/09/2007 08:34

Morning all!

Mrsmcjnr - very about your impending holiday!, Bet you cant wait . Goo dluck with your scan this week xx

Nicky6 - New car sounds cool, hope you manage to get the nursery dilemna sorted soon! How was the party?

Fruitful- Sorry about your Placenta Praevia

Tripletsandtwins,Gingme and lillyloo - Hope the headaches go soon, I had them earlier in the pegnancy, but have cleared up now. Maybe check that blood pressure etc is ok? xx

Awen Hope times goes quickly and DP is back soon {{{{{{{hugs}}}}}}}}}}} x

Molly65 Hope you get your strep b test agreed! x

Cazzybaby - Happy nesting...has kicked in with me as well x

Sideways - really hope the sickness goes soon? Must be a nightmare, im so lucky I missed that all together! think you can get a strep b test done privately if they refuse through the NHS, but not sure how much it is?

NAetha - your argument on the dance floor made me laugh..oh to be teenagers again eh!

Hope everyone is well. I went to a small baby show in Brentwod yesturday, wasnt very big, but had some nice stalls, and was cool to walk around. HAve taken the number of a hypnobirthing course..going to read the book I have bought and make a decision then. My computer is still broken at home The guy came to fix it last week, and coulnt ,so has taken it away. I havnt heard yet, so im not taking that as good news? I really hope I havnt lost everyhting on the hard drive. The only pics I have of X are on there too...so wouldnt have anything to show babybel, although im sure i could get one of his mate if needed . I went to my mates yesturday for dinner, and we popped to the pub for an hour. X's brother had ben in there earlier, and said that X has moved back in with him, and bcome a recluse that just works occasionally and plays poker! I also saw a couple of his friends, who gave me a double take...not sure if X has said anything to them, but dont think so, but they were definately whispering.... After all that, I couldnt sleep last night, and had dreams about him grrrrrrrrrrr oh well...onwards and upwards!!
Have a good week one and all, 67 days left at work...woo-hoo!xx

beller · 24/09/2007 08:39

well done on all your purchases Mixedmama and all your cooking motherofz....your 2 domestic goddess's!! I am planning on cooked, but once maternity leave starts...going to be soooo wet and cold outside im sure...so loads of stews and stuff mmmmmmmmmmm

MotherofZ · 24/09/2007 08:50

seems like we are all in counting down mode today......!!!
Was saying to my SIL yesterday, that I just want this over and done with now.

OP posts:
mixedmama · 24/09/2007 08:56

I only wish I was a domestic goddess. DH phoned me at 7.30 this morning to ask where Ds jeans are, he claims the new ones he got at the weekend are and started moaning that the jeans he wanted to put on him are in the wash, really irritable today and felt like gettign up going home and throwing something at him.

MotherofZ · 24/09/2007 09:00

seriously think your husband and my DH are too similar or is it a man thing???!! DH sometimes calls me in the morning and asks me what DD should wear to nursery!!!

OP posts:
mixedmama · 24/09/2007 09:02

DH tends to get DS ready in the morning and always, always when i making breakfast or soemthing calls me to get his clothes out, as if he is incapable of chosing some clothes. Perhaps men are just quite ridiculous. DH is leading me to believe more and more that this is the truth of the matter.

Angechica · 24/09/2007 09:30

Off to my folks for a few days this week, mum has booked me in for some pampering treatments so looking forward to it. She will also bring me brekkie in bed as well, unlike DH.

Buenas vacaciones MrsMc, are there any Spanish names you like? I used to teach kids English out there for a couple of years...

MotherofZ · 24/09/2007 09:30

actually the other side of the coin is that DH has started to do the dishes after every meal - on his own accord mind you!!

OP posts:
Naetha · 24/09/2007 09:31

I think it's just a man thing.

It's like finding stuff - a man can (at least claim to!) go through every room in the house and be unable to find his phone / the camera / his shoes / one of the cats etc, and yet I can find it within 10 seconds of looking!

I'm definitely in countdown mode today - I have 50 more days of work left! (divided into 10 weeks, which is fairly manageable). I'm finishing work on the 30th November, and due on the 30th December, so seems like a good time to call it a day.

After our Mothercare trip at the weekend, we've started to be a bit ruthless. When we announced I was pregnant to family, they all (my parents and DH's parents) said they wanted to buy us something like a pram or a car seat. Now it's come to the stage where we're actually getting round to buying stuff, when we've asked them how much they're willing to spend on said pushchair / car seat, and they highest amount anyone's come back with is £50! I don't want to seem grasping and ungrateful, but where on earth did they expect to get a pushchair or car seat suitable for a newborn for under £100??

As well as that, we need to get nursery furniture etc, but hopefully we can get some of it from freecycle / friends
