mixedmama - so glad to hear all is well with you

toomanyshoes - poor you with tummy bug. Hope you feel better soon is a nasty thing ot get. xx

Totally speedy log in atm as been out all day sorting house stuff. Just collected last of baby stuff left over from ds (was at my mums) and lots of newborn stuff well enough sleepsuits etc to keep us going. Also some bedding for moses basket! Ds's flane;ette nightgowns were in teh pile too - i used them for him in hosptial when he was born

Re buying stuff, dp and i are going pram shopping when he gets back from Japan - looking at Silvercross pram thing which is £300 and britax SI 0 + 1 something car seat for £130. Will be ordering ursery furniture soon (maybe tonight ) looked at ikea stuff but cant find solid wood drawers/chaning unit and matching wardrobe and cot there.

Hope you all ok. Have a fab time tonight xx

MrsMcJnr · 19/09/2007 14:46

Wow! it?s been busy on here today!

BWMum ? thanks how annoying about the evening AN classes I know what you mean about work. I am more likely to be able to go to things if I can give plenty of notice so it is irritating that they won?t tell me when they are. I have a MW appointment today at 3.30 so I?ll try again then!

Thanks so much Fluffymummy for all of your advice, I really appreciate it

PCM lol your response! I?ve missed your posts! That was a great buy on the crib and the buggy, well done! Are you sure you didn?t write ?How to have a baby on eBay? under a pseudonym? The buggy certainly is a major purchase! Sorry to hear about the back pains, I get niggling ones too. I guess its just being pregnant!

Sabinar ? well done to your DH, can?t be easy. Am liking the sound of the massage and active birth classes ? do share what you learn a friend has that nest and swears by it ? her baby loves it!

Hey Gingeme glad you had a lovely weekend. Still of the plilps, none here yet. Hope poor DS3 feels better soon. Enjoy tonight!

Awen ? hey. So sorry that they have postponed DS?s op just when you were getting used to the idea interesting that you are considering the silvercross ? let me know what you go for. Glad the appointment went well ? wonder what this hydro thing is? How come you have to have the glucose intolerance test? Great heart rate and BP Glad to hear that you have made up with DS wow, you are really getting ready aren?t you? You put me to shame!

Barristermum ? sorry to hear that you had a bad day it is so hard to fight back when the people in white coats start scaring you to death with science. What other tests was she trying to get you to have beyond the heartbeat ones? I?ve been told by so many friends not to accept anything if you don?t trust what is said or it sounds odd, do you think you could discuss these tests with your GP and get more info that way so you can make choices? I do really feel for you, I felt the same when I went to my first consultant?s appointment and the registrar was trying to bully us into all the the AN tests for Downs etc when we had already made up our (informed) minds that we didn?t want them. Sending huge hugs x Great news on the Beanie front though and Barristerdad must be so chuffed at feeling kicks! Enjoy the meet up, I so wish I could be there too!

Hey MotherofZ Have fun tonight!

Mixedmama ? posted on your other thread but so glad you are Beanie are fine I love Statford, we used to spend a weekend there with school and see lots of Shakespearen stuff ? in fact, met Ralph Fiennes there years ago when he was in the RSC and he gave my class as talk. I personally didn?t find him all that sexy but many of my friends did ? how embarrassing that must have been for him to have 17 year old girls drooling all over him! Enjoy the play and tonight of course. (I love the panto too by the way! )

So sorry to hear that you and DD are unwell toomanyshoes ? I hope you both feel much better soon x

Lilyloo ? if only I was talking about my social diary ? I meant my work diary sadly DH and I have noticed that since we stopped giving parties (I?m too tired to do all the usual prep!) nobody arranges anything so our social life has all but died already ? good practice I guess

Ayreshirelolo ? hello! Good to see you. Hope you feel much better soon. Thanks for all the equipment and class tips

beller · 19/09/2007 15:06

well afternoon all!

Just got into work....oops Been manic busy too..oh well babybel dosnt know when america cuts rate!

Had midwife apt...and she is LOVELY!!! Really nice, and totally supportive of my homebirth yayyyyyyyy She even said I had made her day! Will check everything, things that might get in the way...bleeding...high blood pressure...premature... She said she will go into it all in more detail at a later date. But they drop the "box" off to the house at week 37, and there are 4 community midwifes, and all very experienced. If any complications on the day, I would get transfered into Queens. Really pleased! My BP was fine,,babys HB was 146 ish...and she said i had "good tummy muscle"...lets see how long that lasts!
Im feeling very pleased and definately have a spring in my step now!!
looking forward to seeing some of you tonight..its 7 o clock yes? Will pop to the gynm after work quickly xxx

fiona76 · 19/09/2007 15:14

Hi this is my first time. I'm due in Nov and just started my maternity leave.

sideways · 19/09/2007 15:20

Hi fiona, welcome to you but it might be more useful for you if you find the "Due in November" thread

mixedmama · 19/09/2007 15:33

Sorry MrsMcJnr, your post made me laugh. I am talking about Stratford in East London!!! Would love to be going to the REAL Stratfod

MotherofZ · 19/09/2007 15:46

Well done Awen on being mega organised.
Hi Mrs McJnr - well tonight, I'll be doing....not much!
Ohh Statford in East London is very cultural anyway with all those lovely Indian eating places and the of course the Olympics.

OP posts:
LilyLoo · 19/09/2007 16:18

wish i was coming tonight have a slice of pizza and a yummy pudding for the rest of us! No one took me up on the camera offer then ?
Have a lovely time

beller · 19/09/2007 16:25

sorry Lillyloo...what was the camera offer?

gingeme · 19/09/2007 17:41

Hi me quickly. Ill try to take some pics with my phone. Not sure how good theyll come out though not good with these fangled things.
Took ds3 to the hospital to have his pre assessment. Lovely people and nurses. In fact they were so nice when we were shown around the ward he wanted to stay. Weve got to take him in at 7.30am and hell be having his op about 9.30.
Well getting my bits together for tonight.
See you all tommorrow.

BeckyAu · 19/09/2007 18:20

Hello ladies! I'm back! Hoooooray! I did eventually move on Friday and although the day seemed to take about 3 months to pass - it was sooo long... we did make it. DH had to go to Leeds to work all day so lucky thing just left our old house, went to work, and came back to the new house. Lucky lucky thing! Since we've been in we've discovered things like the loo doesn't work (thank goodness for downstairs loo that just about works) and there are all sorts of dodgy/partially working things but we are here, the space is lovely, and Beanie jumps around loads so must be excited too!

Internet was installed Saturday morning then promptly stopped working and it's taken til now for them to fix it (Grrrr) hence my absence but I missed you all! And lots of you are out eating pizza tonight which sounds wonderful. I'm sure you're all having lots of fun.

So I am starting to get to grips with organising things to be delivered in time for when the builder's ready to get cracking - think I shall be writing lots of To Do lists so I can cross things off as my memory is rubbish at the moment. But I am at last able to stand in Beanie's room, and (ignoring the fact it has to be re-plastered in places and looks terrible at the mo) imagine it all coming together. Unfortunately Archie the cat has decided it's his favourite room too so won't be impressed when he can't go in there all the time.

So anyway.. I'll stop waffling but just wanted to say hi and thanks for all your support over themove. So now I just have to join the "which pushchair do I buy" debate... too many for Becky to choose from! xxx

MrsMcJnr · 19/09/2007 18:20

Beller ? so glad your MW is lovely so exciting that you can have a home birth I am really pleased for you (also envy those tummy muscles!) have a lovely time tonight.

Mixedmama English geography is not my strong point!

Gingeme ? at DS3 wanting to stay ? I guess going into hospital is kind of exciting when you are a kid

Had MW appointment, she was her usual self bp was fine (yeah) Beanie sounded good my fundal height (all new to me!?) was 24 ? what does that mean? She seemed to think that was ok. She commented on my bruises and just raised her eyebrows when I said that some days the jags were easier than others. Asked about the classes ? a lot of sighing followed and I tried to explain that yes I knew they didn?t happen for a while but if I was to have any chance of going to them I had to get them into my work diary ? she finally gave me a pre-printed sheet with all the dates on it how long has she had that?! There is no choice, the classes are 2-4 on a Monday afternoon, and work will be delighted. They start at 31 weeks. I told her that I?d been to aqua natal last week and enjoyed it, she scoffed that it was much too early for that and that I shouldn?t have been ?allowed in? until 26 weeks, I told her that other ladies less preggers than me had been there and she just raised her brows again ? I?ve just read my class sheet and the aqua natal classes are on it and say that you can go from 16 weeks anyway, Beanie?s fine, I?m fine nothing else matters! she wrote ?FMF? in my notes ? hope that doesn?t stand for ?Fat Mother BLEEEEEEEEEEP? ? any thoughts?

Was horrified as when we were waiting to go in a really young girl came out, she was 17 at most, anyway, she had her whole bump out over her trackie bums and it was red raw with stretch marks, I?ve never seen any so angry looking. She wasn?t the skinniest anyway and her bump was only the size of mine ? I was so shocked that stretch marks like that could happen so early in one so young and apparently elastic! Old gits like me have no hope!

MrsMcJnr · 19/09/2007 18:21

Crossed with you BeckyAu so glad you got in and I hope the teething problems don't spoil your enjoyment!

nicky6 · 19/09/2007 20:06

Am most annoyed turns out I could have met up with everyone tonight instead I am home alone as dh at football.

Anyway never mind one of those things.

Mrs Mc had no joy from NHS classes but the NCT is SE london is very efficient and I was told that they were booking classes for people due in APril!!!!!!!!!! Anyway they had someone pull out of classes so we start ours next week - I will only be 22 weeks - its a 10 week course though so hopefully I will remember some of it. They had a weekend course in january available but if I was a little bit early I wouldnt have been. So have gone for next week.

You are all scaring me not even looked at any buggy, cot etc i think i will see what you all get and then get the most popular!!!! very naughty

Daisypops · 19/09/2007 21:17

My dd was born last Jan, so I always come and read your thread!

FMF stands for 'fetal movements felt' I think.

The midwife at my ante-natal class told us that young girls get more stretch marks because their skin isn't properly grown yet and it is been stretched to its maximum.

Good luck to you all!

MamaMaiasaura · 19/09/2007 21:29

MrsMcJnr and at your midwife. She sounds like a right cow and feel sorry for you. The classes thing she is spouting is a load of rubbish - my mw was pushing us to book up NCT ones and also encorouging me to join antenatal groups like yoga etc. FMF means Fetal Movements Felt (I think). Is there anyway of changing your mw? Re the stretchmarks.. apparantly it is hereditry and not to do with all this special creams. Got lots with ds but so far (touch wood) no new ones with this one. MIne are all very pale and faded.

Becky - glad move went ok for you. I know what you mean about stuff not working, when we moved here the electrics were dodgy and the DIY stuff was really poor. Anyway, we have it all ship shape and looking at moving again!

Beller @ good muscle tone. lol. Apprantyl the reason i can feel pudding so well is cos my muscle tone isnt so good since having ds! lol. glad you have a lovely mw tho,

Gingeme - glad pre ass went well. The pead nurses are really lovely I think. 7.30 seems the norm as that is the time we have been given too. Ds is looking forward to his brave boy pressie!

beller · 20/09/2007 07:42

Morning all!

Beckyau - Glad your move went wel...and hope everything is working now? How nice to go to work from one house and back to another!! All the best in your new home xxxx

Mrsmcjnr - at your midwife!! Will you have the same one throughout? She sounds a nightmare!! Glad all is well though xxx

Nicky6 - would have been good to see you last night..maybe next time? Glad you got on your course xx

Well last night was lovely to put some faces to "posts" Gingme, barristermum, mixedmamma and I all enjoyed pizza and a good chinwag. Plus weird to know REAL names hahaha Was a really lovely evening and great to catch up in the "real world", would definately like to do it again. Sorry more of us couldnt make it, but maybe try and move venues to accomodate? Although we are all over the country. I got into bed at 10.30...but worth it x
Hope all is well with everyone today xxxxxxxxx

Lulubump · 20/09/2007 09:30

SO that you managed to meet up last night - glad you had a good time though! Beller you're up early this morning

I need some advice from you all on the pram/pushchair question. Am I crazy to plan not to buy one for the first 3 months, and then just get an umbrella fold one? I thought we could manage with a wrap sling, car seat and bouncer chair. What do you guys think?

MamaMaiasaura · 20/09/2007 10:30

lulubump - I think the sling thing sounds very sensible tbh. Am thinking that Jan sales might be a good time to shop!

We have done something very scary..... last night we ordered the nursery furniture! Cot bed, wardrobe and changer/dresser unit. this set We are going to get a sprung mattress tho when pudding goes into his cot. Got the furniture now as need somewhere to put all baby clothes.

Beller - glad you had a nice time last night would really love to meet up too. We are all over the country tho so is difficult.

Lulubump · 20/09/2007 10:44

How exciting Awen, that looks really lovely!! When is it all arriving? I particularly like the dresser/changer unit

Is anyone thinking of going to the East Midlands Baby and Toddler Show in Nottingham on 30th September? I might be going, and would love to meet anyone else who'll be there!

gingeme · 20/09/2007 10:57

Good mornig ladies. A late night for you then Beller. It was so lovely to meet you all. Barristermum I described you to my dh and he thinks hes seen you round East Finchley. He is a driver at East Finchley station.
Lulubump your idea sounds very sensible. I love slings anyway and love seeing ickle babies all snuggled up to Mummy or Daddy
Beckyau glad your enjoying your new home and the move went well.
MrsMcJnr sounds like your mw needs a poke in the eye! Is she going to be delivering you? You can ask not to have her.
I had terrible heartburn after our pizza last night but it was yummy. The pizza not the heartburn!!
Whos up for a meet up next then? November time maybe. When a few of you start your mat leave maybe?
Well were Clown Towning today and shopping.
What an exciting life I have
Have a good day all xx

ladylush · 20/09/2007 12:01

Hi ladies, sorry for hijack. Mrs McJnr - I got my clotting results yesterday but no doctor to report on them. Looking at the ranges for each (which appear in brackets to the right of each result)my results fall within the margins though some of them are just within - hence on the low side. Does that sound ok to you? I am too impatient to wait By the way, re. stretchmarks - I swear by Clarins body oil. I used it throughout my pregnancy and didn't even get one strechmark. Yet I got plenty on my thighs and hips as a teenager.

MamaMaiasaura · 20/09/2007 12:05

ladylush - good to see you x

beller · 20/09/2007 12:37

Hi Ladylush xx

Awen, good youre getting organised, its good when it all comes togeher eh?!

lulubump - ideas sound col, would just have to make sure you have a goodbag to carry all nappies etc around as well as wouldnt be able to put them over pram. But there are LOADS of them around too...Im going to get a sling too....babies alwasy look so snug eh!

Gingme - Hi! Hope the heart burn goes soon xx

MrsMcJnr · 20/09/2007 12:39

Hey ladies how was last night? Don?t go and be a ?gang? now!!!

Nicky6 ? sorry that you missed out when you could have gone to the night out! that?s great news about your NCT classes that will give you peace of mind, you can always revise if you think you are getting rusty as your EDD approaches! Sorry for scaring you, we?ve only looked at the buggy, nothing else but I know some people are really organised and scare me!

Daisypops ? thanks, relieved that FMF doesn?t stand for what I thought it did!

Awen ? thanks for the empathy, I?m not intimidated by her though and know now to save all questions needing a proper answer for my consultant. I asked her about kick counting yesterday too and she totally contradicted herself she?s never even mentioned the NCT to me or any other type of classes beyond the NHS ones. How exciting about the furniture! It?s really lovely, just the type of thing I would want

Beller ? thanks for the empathy. I think one of the reasons she?s off with me is because I am in consultant care and she feels she doesn?t really have a role with me though the consultant says she has! So glad you had a good time last night! any pics?

Gingme - Hi! Hope the heart burn goes soon xx

Lulubump ? I guess it depends how you are going to get about and if you want to go for walks etc. If you had a section, would that prevent you from using the sling? We are borrowing my sister?s sling ? babies look so cosy in them! That show sounds good, there are none in Scotland until April

Gingeme ? I?m intrigued, can you describe Barristermum to us too? I don?t think my MW dains to deliver babies, I think she just does the health centre stuff and the visits thank goodness. DH said that one of his colleagues raved on about how good she was when she had pre-eclampsia ? maybe you?ve got to be really ill to see her virtues! What?s clown towning?

Hey ladylush when I got mine they said specifically that they had tested me for the hereditary blood clotting disorder so I didn?t pay much attention to the blood results per say, sounds good that the levels are fine though ? when will you hear from the dr do you think? Keep me posted. I?m on my 4th bottle of that oil!
