ejt1764 · 17/09/2007 12:49

thanks alice - as you can imagine, I was a tad nervous! Let's see if it does the trick ...

lisad123 · 17/09/2007 14:48

I have posted another joke www.mumsnet.com/Talk/2260/389832?rnd=1190036752329

nellieloula · 17/09/2007 14:52

mona congratulations! wonderful news.
ejt, great that you have made yourself clear to the in laws - so so important that you get the bonding time.

muppet, sorry to hear about Ollie - I am having the same problem. One usually placid, entertaining and content 2.5yr old is suddenly a grizzle monster who keeps breaking down in tears - very unlike him. And it is really hard trying to find fun things to do - he has said several times he just wants the baby out now! This is despite me being extra extra careful not to blame the pregnancy in any way for my crapness - they do just know. Luckily, he is shattered today and just wants to watch tv - fine by me! (If you'd asked me that a year ago, i would have been aghast- how a pregnancy brings your standards down!) My view is that their little world is going to be shattered by someone that everyone else is raving about and they are just expected to be delighted that this new baby has pushed their way into their life. I'd be pissed off! Of course he'll feel pushed out and at the moment, whilst I don't think he knows that, he def knows a big change is a foot - so I'm trying to be very patient, extra cuddles and one to one games etc but still maintaining my house rules etc. Otherwise, if I let everything go it will certainly come back to haunt me. Hope that helps a bit - not sure that it does. Everyone i know has told me that things really settle down after the first couple of months and then no-one can remember what it was like when it was a smaller family unit.

alice and lisa, hope you're feeling a bit better and mrs fish, I've even dreamt about your lemon drizzle cake

big hello to everyone else and hope the afternoons are fun for everyone - off to buy DS some new shoes now.

orangecat · 17/09/2007 17:04

Hi all

Just had a quick couple of questions for you. My pubic bone has started hurting over the past week - what is that? Oh, and J20, noticed on your other post that you know you have Strep B. Did you send away for one of those kits? I don't suppose it is too late to do at 37 weeks??

Mona - HUGE congratulations on the birth of your little boy. And loved the fact he was an angel with a 1.5 hour birth - you hear so many stories of difficult births it's nice to hear of an easy one once in a while.

Floria - poor you and Buffy in hospital. I got a narrow escape with the placenta moving, but was thinking it would be really horrible to be on a labour ward. Hopefully your BP will come down and you will be out soon.

WTP - I'm with you, just want this baby out now. Although I'm sure this one is going to be late (DD was, and with this doubt over whether head will fit past placenta bet it's not going to engage...)

Hope everybody else is well, aside from the usual heartburn, insomnia, braxon pains etc.

orangecat · 17/09/2007 17:07

Oh, and haven't yet had any problems with DD (2.4) yet, but was chatting to her this morning about arrival of baby, and saying he would be just like some of our friends babies. To which she retorted that she didn't like those babies. Doesn't bode well but, then, I guess what would a 2 year old find exciting about a baby!!

MrsFish · 17/09/2007 21:18

Orangecat - My pubic bone has started to hurt too, especially when I get in and out of bed, I reckon its because the lo's are starting to bed down ready for launch and the extra pressure down there is making it hurt. I'm also getting quite good behaviour out of Sam too (2+4), I bought a couple of books from Amazon that we have looked at over and over and it really seems to have calmed him down, co-incidence? not sure but it seems to have done the trick.

If anyone is interested, these books I ordered from Amazon seem to have really helped Sam understand what has been going on and what will be happening with baby. They are just illustrations so you can talk through the pictures with them in your own way. this one and this one

Well another busy day for me, hoovered the house from top to bottom and cleaned the kitchen, did some washing, then MiL came round to see ds at 2pm(its her usual day to come and see him) she took him for a walk and I was going to have a snooze because was knackered after the morning but then she offered to do some jobs round the house, I said I was quite up to date but she noticed the windows needed doing.. (one job I hate and always put it off even if I have cleaned everywhere else) so then of course all thoughts of sleeping went out my head, I didn't want her to have the satisfaction of going on about how dirty they all were (because she IS that type, bless her) so then cue me dashing around like a blue arsed fly for 45 mins whilst she was out with ds wiping over all the paintwork of the windows and windowsills so at least they would be clean, and I did most of the upstairs windows too just goes to show what you can do if you put your mind to it, with the threat of MiL comments to gee you up a bit

Am now shattered but have a relatively clean house I have been sitting relaxing for the last hour and Ben has been going mad, I didn't know my tummy could stretch in so many ways, I blinking hope he hasn't turned again because it has been very uncomfortable whilst he has been doing the acrobatics . Oh well, I am seeing the midwife again on thursday so will soon find out.

Hope everyone has a good nights sleep
MrsF 38+1

NEWS!!!!!

Buffy had her little girl by emergency cs at 8.05pm yesterday.

Scarlett Grace weighed 5lb 11oz and was in scbu when Buffy texted me this morning. he promises to send photos once she has had a chance to see her herself!

appologies for not informing you all sooner but my subscription to patientline ran out last night and I thought Id be able to post from home today.....I was wrong my consultant wont let me home [even after a 2nd appalling nights sleep]lbecause my bp wont drop below 145/95, he is looking for a slot to induce me later this week...so just resubscribed to this, but it has taken 3 attempts to send it!

CONGRATULATIONS Buffy, love the name

FT hope you are either home, or a mummy soon

HonorMatopoeia · 17/09/2007 22:02

How exciting! Congratulations Buffy!
FT - sorry to hear you're captive in the hospital . Hope things are soon sorted one way or the baby way!

Can I ask a bizarre question? Bit embarrassing really but if I can'r ask here heaven knows where I can!
I've been to the loo a couple of times today and smelt a really strange smell fleetingly, which I can (sorry for this) only describe as smelling a bit like semen . I'm sure I remember someone on this thread saying they recall their waters breaking having a similar smell. There's been no gushing or anything but now I'm panicking that my waters may be leaking. As I had to have antibiotics for GBS last time I've got myself into a bit of a state. ANy ideas?

(sorry to rain on the parade so to speak )

orangecat · 17/09/2007 22:06

HUGE congrats Buffy.

Floria, hope you have a better night's sleep tonight.

Well done on cleaning Mrs Fish.

Can't really help you, Honor, I'm afraid. My waters broke first with DD - a trickle first then absolute gushing (didn't realise I could contain that much water), but don't recall anything about the smell. Hopefully somebody else will be able to help.

Off to bed now. Hope everybody sleeps well tonight

lisad123 · 17/09/2007 22:20

wow congrats buffy
The Oct ladies seem to be skipping to the front

FT hope your ok. I spent 6 weeks in hospital last time as my bp refused to drop any lower than 140/92 even with meds. Sorry.

Alicet, thanks so much for your support on the other thread, its so stressful, really could do without it.

Anyone heard from LES today? Hope shes ok.

Im still feeling "odd", if it carries on tomorrow might just get bp checked by midwife tomorrow, although my home readings have been high, my mw has said the home ones arent as good for bp readings in pregnant woman

I have to say Im very impressed with the weight of all these early LOs, doing well

lisa

unicorn · 17/09/2007 23:41

I daren't read this OCTOBER thread anymore - seems they're all wanting to make an appearance in September!

Congratulations Buffy and family and welcome Scarlett Grace, (lovely names)
hope you are feeling ok (as well as you can do!)

Can I join the pelvic bone bruiser crew - mine is feeling tender too, can't remember that before - must be something to do with lo's head banging on bone?
(really scientific explanation there I don't think!)

Anyway, I fully expect another 2/3 babies by the end of this week.

take care everyone.
xx

TheLadyEvenstar · 18/09/2007 00:20

HI All

soz wasnt about earlier i was having a bad day have not been feeling right all day and then spent over an hour crying over nothing. Dp came home from work and we got pram set up...felt increasingly better when we had and stopped crying.

Also have a major major toothache and nothing to take for it!!!!!!!!!

so am off to bed in minute xxxxx love to all

congrats to mummys and kisses to new bubbas xxxxxxx

ChocolateHobnob · 18/09/2007 06:44

CONGRATULATIONS BUFFY!!! How exciting. Thanks for posting the news, Floria. Goodness - am I going to be the only one left in October?!

And Floria, poor you - at least you have the Internet but I can see it's horrible being in hospital. Many hugs winging over to you from here! Will they induce early? how many weeks are you now?

I haven't had any pubic bone pain but I'm a few weeks behind most of you so that's probably a delight to come!

Sorry about first children getting anxious about the second. There are 21 months between my brother and me (I'm older); I never got jealous of him. There are about 19 months between DH and his older sister and she was horribly jealous and never really got over it, used to hit him and knock him over. I don't think his parents handled it that well - I admire you all for tackling it before the los are born. Am sure it will be fine once the babies are actually here - they just don't know what the changes are going to be, but they sense there are some.

Lisa, still feeling odd?
EJT, sounds like you had a v busy weekend!
Mrs F, my MIL would notice windows too - maybe I should take a look at ours since she's coming on Thursday...
Honor, can't help you with waters since I'm a first-timer...

Who will be next?! It's very exciting. October babies don't seem to want to wait!

nellieloula · 18/09/2007 07:31

morning everyone - congratulations Buffy! What a lovely way to start the day - lovely name too

floria, hope you've had a better night's sleep. could you get an amenity room whist they keep you in? I know they try and keep them for emergencies etc but could help you get some much needed rest....

Les - sorry to hear you ahd a rubbish day but glad you're feeling better.

HMP, I too have smelt the smell! Not worried about it though; presmued it was the CM ot be honest

Orange, my pelvis is extremley sore too - it was in a different place with DS and my mw said it was the pressure of the head getting ready to engage and the bones doing one final stretch before the big day - this time round, LO is breech and it does really feel like rumplestiltskin is jumping up and down on my pelvis - worse when I sit and lie down. not long to go now though!

mrsfish - about your windows! My mum's coming in a couple of weeks, so I'm sure I'll be doing the same thing then!
hope everyone else is ok and has a good day.

WinnieThePooh · 18/09/2007 08:16

MOrning everyone,

CONGRATULATIONS to Buffy & family on the birth of Scarlett Grace. I love those names.

I hope everyone else is well and you all have a good day.

lisad123 · 18/09/2007 09:08

morning all.
Well really thought last night might have been it but no Got to every 8 mins, and again they stopped
Im still feeling a littl "odd", but no idea why.
I have an appointment tomorrow so hoping consultant will allow me to be induced. He said there is a slightly higher risk of rupurging me old scar if im induced. I havent had any trouble with my scar and we know this isnt a huige baby, so not too concerned myself
Im off to coffee with another friend today, so taking it easy.
Hope everyone is well and no one lese has jumped the quene in the night

Lisa

Apricott · 18/09/2007 09:13

Morning!

Congratulations Buffy - hope Scarlett is doing well - hope you are too.

Well done with the cleaning MrsF - I think I've done my back in vacuuming this weekend. And thanks for the nipple care advice - I think you're right - will wait and see.

Re strange smells and discharge - you've got me worried now, I too thought it was just CM - which has been strange throughout this pregnancy.

Floria - thanks for making the effort to let us know about Buffy and I do so hope you'll be out of there soon - thinking of you lots.

Yikes, I've got to go to what promises to be an extremely long and boring meeting. Hope you all have good days. Take care everyone x

j20baby · 18/09/2007 09:17

morning everyone

congratulations buffy, what a lovely name, hope you are both well

FT-poor you, its horrible staying in, hope you manage to get induced soon

HM-i remember someone saying that too, you should maybe get checked although, i am very cm'y at the moment and it smells funny, but don't think its nothing to worry about.

orange-mw picked up on strep B when i had a swab taken after they thought my waters had broken at about 24 weeks.

mrsfish-you did have a busy day, hope you're resting today.

well, i'm so fed up now, feel like i've had this cold forever, it just wont go away, ache everywhere, constantly feel sick, having cold sweats and on top of that, my fingers will just not work due to the carpal tunnel, hands and feet are swollen, and its really cold outside and i can't get my socks on and have no warm cardigans or jackets that will go round me

moan, moan, moan!!!

also, i banged my stomach yesterday and it cam eup in a big bruise but then faded after a few hours, but mw said it should be fine as long as lo is still moving and i don't have no pain or bleeding.

hope everyone has a nice day

FloriaTosca · 18/09/2007 09:42

morning all
finally got a decent nights sleep when they moved me from a room with 3 newborns [mum thought it was a laugh "get you used to it"; perhaps my sense of humour has been bypassed but as far as im aware im not having blooming triplets!] to a room with just 1 other antenatal. such a relief; i was getting hysterical with tiredness and stress...[i kept being told i could go home...if....and then they kept moving the goal posts] and i was getting more and more agitated thinking about my teaching practise [trying to cancel them from a hospital bed has been a nightmare] and worse, that im going to be put into labour with only 3 hrs sleep in the last 48..no wonder the bp wouldnt come down! now im being told they will induce if....!....
so today i have the joy of an internal exam to see if my cervix is showing signs of being ready...what is the betting that the next meeting will be to tell me that the only safe way forward is a cs? the one thing i adamantly dont want
oops just read through and its so me,me me and sounds bad tempered...honestly im in a lot better mood than i was yesterday... sorry...but it has taken an age to write on this machine so im going to inflict it on you anyway!
Ill pass on your congrats to buffy and relay any response tonight
have a good day all

ejt1764 · 18/09/2007 10:02

CONGRATULATIONS BUFFY - and what a gorgeous name!

FT - thanks for posting from hospital - I know from when I was in with ds, that the only way to get what you want / need is to get hysterical about it ... it's the only way I ended up being fast-tracked through to having my induction stepped up when I'd been in hospital for 3 days already, and they'd been messing around. I also suggest threatening to go home - and informing all and sundry that the stress of being messed about probably has quite a lot to do with your high bp ... hope you get sorted soon!

Hi to everybody else - I'm very tired today - I've been having niggly twinges all night, and got very little sleep ... the Health Visitor coming to see me later, it'll be interesting to see what that's all about.

Oh, and another absolute peach of a comment from MIL on Sunday that I just need to share with you. Now, when I tell you this, please bear in mind that on Sunday I was in a really bad way, and could hardly move, that the PILs live 1 hour's drive away from us, and that the last time we went down to see them about 3 weeks ago, I was in tears because of the pain when we got there ... and that, although we usually see them once a month, we've seen them 5 times in the last 6 weeks ... anyway, comment from MIL:

"So, will you be popping down to see us for Sunday next week?"

dh says my face was a picture - usually, I just mutter something about seeing - this time I said:

"MIL, I can hardly bloody move, so it's not likely!"

DH says that MIL's face was an absolute picture at that point too ... think I'll have to do that more often!

Mumpbump · 18/09/2007 10:33

Morning all... Very quick post from me.

Firstly, congratulations to Buffy - Scarlett is a beautiful name - it's on our short list too!!!

Secondly, everything is fine here except I have been having short, but frequent contractions since yesterday. Am now in a panic trying to get stuff done in case bubba is going to put in an early appearance. Plus I left my revised birth plan at work so am going to have to re-write it - which is what I am imminently about to disappear to do now...

Hope everyone is okay. I see that Floria is in hospital as well at the moment. Fingers crossed that all goes well for you. Haven't had time to skim the thread even, but hope that Lisa is also okay... Will have a quick check for the postnatal thread to see who has graduated so far... Hopefully, I will be back tomorrow to say it was all a false alert and have a go at catching up properly...

Kittiwake · 18/09/2007 10:36

Congratulations to Mona and Buffy oh my gosh these October babies don't want to stay in do they!

FT - Sounds horribly stressful being in hospital hope they either let you home or induce you soon, no wonder your BP is staying so high. Hope they don't try and go down the CS route if that's not what you want, glad you got a better nights sleep though.

My MIL and FIL are coming round on Friday but I'm not going to be blardy cleaning my windows for them although I may hoover and clean the bathroom actually FIL is coming to fit some new light fittings for us and they are really helpful generally, I think I am pretty lucky in this regard. MIL says silly things sometimes without thinking really but she means well and I tend to let it wash over me. Maybe she will turn into a monster when little one is born

Had a home visit from midwife yesterday to go through birth plan and last week had visit from health visitor to introduce herself, impressed by the ante-natal service round here. I think becasue we are in the middle of nowhere they make a bit more effort to get to know you. All's well with baby and midwife said his head was right on the edge of the pelvic brim ready for take off as it were, also that she didn't think baby would be huge phew!

PolarMummy · 18/09/2007 10:38

Congrats Buffy, I love the name hope you are both doing well, can't wait to see pictures

FT thanks for posting to let us know, no wonder your blood pressure wont come down, I think the very fact of being in hospital would be enough to keep it up never mind being on a ward with 3 new born babies keeping you awake! Hope that you get good news from the Internal and that they will be able to safely induce you and you won't have to go through a c section, I feel the same as you about it!

Morning to everyone else, hope you all managed to get some more sleep last night and that you are getting some relief from you aches and pains.
