@HairsprayBabe ooh all the best with that!!

I'm small too but the consultant said it's good muscles! I can feel a lot of movement too so not worried.

I found this comforting on the nhs website.

That's comforting, my mum keeps telling me I'm too big and questioning whether the midwife has said anything! I just think it's personal and we all look different. Xxx

Everything measured fine today for me 👍🏻 had glucose in my wee so will be having a diabetes test in three weeks ☹️😩

amysara24 · 14/04/2020 15:19

@HairsprayBabe I hope the move all goes ahead as you’ve planned 🤞🏽 I wouldn’t worry about bump size either, one day you’ll look and think “where the heck did that come from?!” 😂 As long as you feel regular movement 💗
I’m feeling lots now too which is definitely reassuring!
@squirrelnutkins1 I’m glad everything went well, and fingers crossed the glucose was a one off and nothing more! Apparently I’m at risk of gestational diabetes because of PCOS but so far the midwife hasn’t said anything.
In true over prepared me form, we’ve now painted the nursery and started building furniture 🤦🏽‍♀️😂 I can’t help myself!
I hope you all had a lovely Easter weekend and are doing ok 💗💗

I hope so altho I've had an awful sweet tooth since being preg. I used to be so good but not since pregnancy 😐 both parents and a grandparent are diabetic so my chances aren't great but hey ho.

LucyLucyT · 14/04/2020 22:59

Nice to read everyone's updates. Glad I'm not the only one anxious about attending hospital appointments. I'm going in next Monday, managed to organise it to have glucose tolerance, midwife appointment, 28wk growth scan and doctor review all in the same morning, hopefully it all goes to plan!

We have lived in our house for 8 years and it's needed modernising since we moved in but I think we were too daunted by it all, and let's face it, just lazy! So we were hoping to get the house re-wired before the baby arrived and some plastering done in the bedrooms but obviously now can't do that as my partner is shielding because of his CF. So we are making the best we can of what will be the nursery, filling and sanding the walls back and cleaning the window as best we can.
I ordered paint from homebase a couple of weeks ago, knowing it might take about that long to come. They emailed yesterday to say it won't be until 22nd May! So asked for a refund (still waiting to hear back on that!) and have managed to get a things from other sites but it's so hard to get decorating supplies right now!
We plan to extend the house at the back and have a kitchen diner but we'll have to do it the extra hard way with a baby now, serves us right for being slackers!

HairsprayBabe · 15/04/2020 09:33

I got my matb1 in the post and a bloods form but I don't know when I am supposed to go for the blood test 🤷 as midwife didn't say on the phone.... I think it is the 28 week one I could be wrong though...

HairsprayBabe · 15/04/2020 09:35

@LucyLucyT try the range for DIY supplies I was in there last week (ours has an Iceland foods inside) and they were still selling all their other lines plus it was super quiet

LucyLucyT · 15/04/2020 20:36

@HairsprayBabe does it say what is requested on your blood form? Might be a group and save as well as glucose tolerance? I'm having mine at 28 weeks but I was booked in with the phlebotomist as they stopped the drop in.

I can't really go to the Range as avoiding all shops because of my partner but thanks :-)

HairsprayBabe · 15/04/2020 21:02

@LucyLucyT the range deliver I meant sorry! Or you can do click and collect and they literally load it straight into your car if you call ahead and explain.

On the sheet it's ferritin and FBC so iron levels? I am low risk for GD and don't have any symptoms that suggest I need a glucose test. Have texted midwife but she hasn't responded.

LucyLucyT · 16/04/2020 03:58

@HairsprayBabe ahh I see! Well hopefully got some paint being delivered by another company now but I will bear that in mind if it doesn't work out again!

With regards the bloods, like you say that's a fairly routine thing to check iron levels etc. Maybe ring your local hospital phlebotomy dept. to find out if they can give you an appointment :-)

HairsprayBabe · 22/04/2020 19:24

Hey hope everyone is doing ok

TMI here but I have a really uncomfortable bout of thrush 😭 I get it from time to time anyway... I have some of the cream but don't want to go down and queue at the pharmacy for so long when I am so uncomfortable for the pessery....

I have decided to cut sugar and white carbs out because I know it can make it worse and I don't want it to become recurring 🤦‍♀️

amysara24 · 22/04/2020 20:18

@hairspraybabe oh no I’m sorry to hear that, that sounds so uncomfortable 😔 maybe check if some of your local pharmacies are doing a drop off for those isolating, you might be eligible for that?
I’ve had a strange week, dodgy bowels & contractions Sunday - Tuesday so phoned MW and she pretty much said keep an eye for waters and if they go, get to hospital 🤯 have an appointment with them for bloods tomorrow anyway so I’m guessing they’ll check all is ok!
I hope you’re all doing ok and managing with the new normal! 💗

OP posts:
Missdrifter · 23/04/2020 13:11

@HairsprayBabe that sounds uncomfortable 😩 could you possibly get someone to go to pharmacy for you. Hoping it clears up soon.
@amysara24 good luck for your appointment today, my bowls have been a bit dodgy the past week too. Could your contractions be Braxton Hicks?
How is everyone else keeping? I am feeling a bit better about movement as I feel like I am starting to feel a bit of a routine but a lot of my movement still feels quite muffled but apparently that’s to do with my placenta position. X

amysara24 · 23/04/2020 14:09

@missdrifter Just has my appointment and everything looks good, measuring 2cm ahead on fundal height but within normal range 😊 she said I had lots of signs for preterm labour but everything was normal, so it’s probably just unfortunate timing that they’ve all come together making it seem worse than it is!
I’m glad you’re feeling movement now that’s such a relief! It probably depends what way baby is lying too, sometimes we can see the kicks if it’s aimed right at the front of my tummy!

OP posts:
Missdrifter · 23/04/2020 15:30

@amysara24 that’s really good news, was that your 28 week appointment? What else do they check? I have mine next weds the day after my growth scan! Xx

amysara24 · 23/04/2020 16:06

@missdrifter yes the 28 week one! They did fundal height, baby HR, my blood pressure and I had bloods - though I don’t know if this is just because I need an anti-d injection! It was quite quick, which was good and there was no one else in the waiting room. That’s me now until the start of June when I’ve got my 32 week appointment and a scan to check my placenta - scary how fast time is going! I’m glad all of your scans are still going ahead that must be a relief! X

OP posts:
LucyLucyT · 23/04/2020 19:57

@amysara24 hope all continues okay for you, must have been worrying when you started getting contractions!

I had my 28 week scan on Monday as well as glucose tolerance test and also managed to arrange to see my community midwife at the hospital at the same time.
Scan was okay, head is on 18% centile, abdomen 75%(!) and femur 50%. I had been worrying that the head was smaller in comparison but I think the measurements are quite unreliable sometimes and the sonographer said everything is still within normal limits and each bit is growing at the right rate. Can't help but have a little paranoia about it though!

Spoke to my midwife today for results of GTT, my 2 hour sugar was 7.7, the cut off is 7.8 for gestational diabetes, so technically I'm normal, hopefully it stays that way and hopefully not a sign for type 2 diabetes in the future! Don't think they'll do it again unless I start to get glucose in my urine dips.

Hope everyone else is doing okay, I still need to get a travel system organised, I think I've settled on a Joie but just deciding on the car seat as there are a couple of options. In fact I have lots of things still to get! Time is starting to fly now 😱

amysara24 · 23/04/2020 20:18

@lucylucyt thank you, it was strange as they definitely didn’t feel like how I expected!
I’m glad all of your measurements are looking good that must be a relief! If any part is going to be a bit smaller, you want it to be the head! Within the normal ranges of course 😊 fingers crossed it all stays that way!
I honestly can’t believe how quickly the weeks are ticking by now! We have everything pretty much ready to go - including the nursery being finished and clothing in the wardrobes! Don’t know what I’ll do with myself for the next 12 weeks or so! 😂

OP posts:
Missdrifter · 26/04/2020 11:35

@LucyLucyT glad your growth scan went ok, I wouldn’t worry about the measurements as they aren’t always accurate and they are all well within normal range. Do you have another growth scan booked in? We have our growth scan on Tuesday because of my very low PAPP-a and I have to say I am nervous but looking forward to hopefully having some reassurance that baby is growing as she should be.
@amysara24 you are sooo organised! We have bought clothes, blankets and essential bits but still not got cot or bar seat. Has anyone got any car seat recommendations?

HairsprayBabe · 02/05/2020 21:55

I just picked up a second hand snuzpod for £35 and I'm thrilled to bits with it.

I think I want a moses basket for downstairs but baby would be equally fine on the floor for a second if I need to put them down as we have no marauding toddlers or pets... Or maybe I am being neglectful already...

Thrush has finally cleared had to get pessery from Dr in the end as it wouldn't shift.

Midwife appointment went well, fundal height is measuring just below 90th centile... Absolutely gobsmacked as I am still looking small 🤷

Got blood results back and they want me on iron tablets annoyingly so I have bought some spatone as I don't fancy the side effects of the iron 🙃 not sure if this is the best decision though...

amysara24 · 03/05/2020 20:51

@HairsprayBabe what a bargain!! You should be so chuffed with that! That’s what we have, need to get some sheets for it but I’ve seen them on Amazon so shouldn’t be too hard to find 😊 ours has been built for months and I just love looking at it haha.
I’m glad your thrush cleared up, I’ve not had it for years but god it can be a torture!
I change my mind day to day on whether I think I have a huge or a small bump - have fallen into the pit of comparing myself with other friends (one 4 weeks ahead who has a huuuge bump, and one 5 weeks behind whose bump is bigger than mine) and have to keep reminding myself everyone is different!
I can’t help on the Spatone, I’ve never tried it myself though I agree anything is worth trying over iron tablets!
DH and I sat and discussed names now.. and we finally have a proper shortlist (4 girls and 5 boys options) and it’s a wee bit scary thinking one of these names written down will probably be Bean’s name!
How is everyone else keeping now? Hope all the upcoming appointments and scans have all been going to plan 💗🤞🏽

OP posts:
Missdrifter · 05/05/2020 10:15

@HairsprayBabe that’s such a good bargain! I also change my mind daily about wether or not my bump is big or not.
@amysara24 I had my 28 week growth scan last Week and the lady doing the scan said everything is looking good and baby is “bang on average” I however spotted that when she measured the femur it came up with 26 weeks (and can’t remember how many days.. I think 2 though) everything else was measuring 28 weeks. I then had my midwife appointment after and she again said everything looked great. The consultant then checks over any growth scans at my hospital and he said baby is growing perfectly, but me being me I couldn’t stop thinking about the femur length so I questioned it. Consultant said was nothing to worry about. I still went home and googled “short femurs” though and have spent since then worrying that their is something wrong. Thank goodness we only have 11 weeks left.
How is everyone else doing?

amysara24 · 05/05/2020 13:12

@Missdrifter aww I’m so glad everything went well at your scan! I was thinking about you the other day when I was reading back. I don’t think femur length is anything to be overly concerned about - we measured 3 weeks ahead on that one last time 😅 the sonographer said it could be because DH is really tall.. either that or the legs grew first. I suppose you might have the opposite, where the legs just haven’t had their growth spurt yet 😊
