Hi, just found out after a long time trying! Haven't really told anyone yet so thought some ladies in the same position might want somewhere to share symptoms/stories/worries. Doesn't feel real yet and that 12 week scan seems a loooooong way off!! 😂

Arranged my booking appointment today! I'll be 9 and a half weeks. That's the earliest they had available. Still considering booking a scan at 8 weeks for reassurance.

Minniemee · 23/12/2019 17:23

@f00k @FoxtrotSkarloey I'm an assistant headteacher and like you I am worried a little about mine being a very later summer born baby in terms of school year. I do a lot of data on attainment between winter/spring and summer born, and there is a clear gap during eyfs and ks1, however this gap does close as they get into ks2. However, a child isn't legally obliged to be in school until they are at compulsory school age which is 5.

This means that 'summer born' children - those born between 1 April and 31 August don't have to start school until a full year after they could have been admitted. You just apply for the school and ask to defer a year. Depends on the child totally and what you think is right for them! Hope that helps

Mind if I join? Smile After finding out that me and my husband were expecting and went for an early scan and... found out we are expecting twins! It’s my first pregnancy and I am so scared/excited/nervous/everything in between! I was told my due date was 9th August but who knows when they will arrive. Just feel so nervous being a higher risk pregnancy and hoping it ends well x

charlottelou13 · 23/12/2019 18:13

Hi everyone! I had my BFP on Saturday at 11dpo. If my calculations are correct I will be due around the 29th of august! The only symptoms I have so far are sore boobs, tiredness and extreme irritability! Congratulations to you all!

Minniemee · 23/12/2019 18:13

Been having quite a bit of pain in my right side today in what feels like my right ovary. It comes and goes with a sharp pain rather than constantly aching Anyone else had this? I know it's not eptopic as the scan showed jelly bean is in the right place but really worried about miscarriage etc!

Beth804 · 23/12/2019 18:26

I've had this a lot @Minniemee seems to have settled last couple of days - worrying though! Although I think it is quite normal! I still have 3 weeks to wait for my scan 😩

Welcome and congratulations to the new ladies.

@Minniemee i had lots of very painful cramping with my first and it was all stretching pain. Most people I know who miscarried didn't have any pain, they had blood first. It's very very likely just your uterus making space and getting used to the new 'thing' in there.

Nowisthemonthofmaying · 23/12/2019 19:17

Can I join? Just found out yesterday and I'm in shock! First ever pregnancy, I'm 37 and we'd only been trying for a couple of months.

Currently at family's for big Xmas meal and trying to hide the fact that I'm not drinking which is tricky...

Nowisthemonthofmaying · 23/12/2019 19:19

Oh and charlottelou I'm due 29 August too apparently

I literally have no idea what I'm doing - bought some vitamins and that's it. When are you supposed to go to the doctor?

Minniemee · 23/12/2019 20:08

@Peanutty86 thank you so much for your message- that does make me feel much better, although when did your stretching pains start? I've heard of them but I'm only 7 weeks today which surely is too soon to be having stretching pain when it's so small? Can't help but think the worst :(

@Minniemee I have pain like that too!

Went to see my GP today, was very positive but every day i have so many questions... tonight I'm worried about using a hot water bottle? I have poor circulation and my feet always feel like blocks of ice...do you think it's ok to use it at night time? I've had IVF and I asked the embryologist this question - she said it was fine as long as it wasn't on the belly. Just wonder if anyone else heard anything different?
Love
Maggie x

Minniemee · 23/12/2019 20:59

@FoxtrotSkarloey thank you so much, that makes me feel better that I'm not the only one experiencing this, but sorry you all have pains too!

In terms of closing the gap, it generally tends to be by the end of y3/beginning of y4 that they are about level in attainment. The greatest difference will be in reception year as they've essentially had almost a year less of developing things such as fine motor control skills to hold a pencil etc - I didn't know however that different local authority's have a different way of doing it- totally pointless to put them in year 1 anyway when they do start as then they've missed a whole year of school then as well as being the youngest! That's crazy, poor kids!

Peanutty86 · 23/12/2019 21:55

@Minniemee no, they start pretty much after implantation. At least that was the case for me.

GalaxyGirl24 · 23/12/2019 21:56

@xSLPx I contacted the GP today who told me to self refer to midwife services, so I also contacted them today and booked in my first 8 week appt! Excited!!!

Peanutty86 · 23/12/2019 21:57

@Maggie272 oh I use a small heating blanket on my feet/legs. You're just not supposed to put it directly onto your belly (I have done in my first pregnancy as the pain was too bad) and my sister (midwife) told me off for it and said the same as your gp.

IslayBrigid · 23/12/2019 22:50

@Minniemee I too am having cramping and I'm 14dpo now, I think as @Peanutty86 said it's very normal even this early on. Imagine all the blood and energy going to that part of the body now! Don't worry but maybe get it checked at the gp if it continues and you are worried.
@Maggie272 I also use a hot water bottle as am always cold and we live in a Victorian terrace with droughty windows 🤦‍♀️ I looked up whether it's ok and from what I read it is, even putting on tummy is ok, because it won't raise your internal core temperature just by having a hot water bottle - and the core temperature is what is important to keep down. In terms of actually heating the embryo / baby from the spot where the bottle is, apparently it's very well protected by the placenta and uterus so it'll be fine, I read. But I would go with what your nurse/gp said. There are so many things I didn't realise could be an issue! I read we also shouldn't over do camomile tea!? So weird. Xx

IslayBrigid · 23/12/2019 22:55

Welcome @xSLPx you look familiar 🥰

@GalaxyGirl24 I tested on 11dpo and AF was also due for me today at 14dpo so we are exactly the same! So glad the day has passed ... It's the small milestones isn't it 🙃

@misslaura90 good luck for your scan! I hope everything is perfect and you can celebrate with a really special Christmas x

number5andcounting · 23/12/2019 23:17

Hi all my first post ever congratulations to you all I am also pregnant but with number 6 a bit of a shock as my DD is 8 years old and we were definitely not planning anymore but I've had a few issues with bleeding already which has given me a reality check I'm about 7+4 days I have had 3 scans and everything seems to be ok SmileI think I'm due around the 6th August Grin

TunnocksTcake · 24/12/2019 07:35

Argh 5 weeks today and still not got 2-3 weeks on clear blue. Still a definite line (not super dark though?!) on a frer so not panicking yet but I feel like it should have changed by now! Oh whyyyy did I test?!!!
I have googled it obviously and loads of people saying cbs aren't as reliable as they should be and it took longer than it should have to change etc etc so it can happen but it's still a bit worrying
I am feeling more and more sick and bloated every day so just going to hold on to that I guess? This is my frer... am I being a wally?

BFP! August/September 2020 Babies!
TunnocksTcake · 24/12/2019 07:36

Just accidentally posted that on a really old thread I had googled 🙈

Peanutty86 · 24/12/2019 07:43

@TunnocksTcake you're being a wally. And me too. I keep testing every morning and yesterday 14dpo the line was lighter than 13dpo, when I re-tested again in the afternoon it was darker than 13dpo. I just wish I could stop testing..... sometimes the HCG concentration isn't the strongest in the morning. Sometimes the chemicals in the test don't react as intense as they should..... you've got a very very strong line there, all is good!

TunnocksTcake · 24/12/2019 07:58

@Peanutty86 thank you lovely. It's so much harder this time round. I'm really going to try and step away from the tests! Will be away from home from Boxing Day so that will make it easier and keep me occupied. Logic says I'm not bleeding and getting symptoms so it's obviously there and fine... and if I were to have another missed miscarriage tests wouldn't tell me anyway so there is absolutely no point! Mr clear blue must be a very rich man!

Sorry ladies, Happy Christmas Eve everyone! Anyone else working today?! 🌟🎅🏼🎄🤶🏼

FriedasCarLoad · 24/12/2019 08:21

@TunnocksTcake I don't know how those tests work, but there are definitely two lines there!

I'm due around 27/8...and I've already told everyone! I did the same the first time I was pregnant, and my toddler will be 22m when new sibling is due.

BoughsOfHolly · 24/12/2019 08:37

Can I join? I recognise a few of you ladies from the ‘testing before Christmas’ chat.

Decided to do a test this morning - expected it to be like the adverts where the couple is sat looking at the test together waiting for it to show. Well, I’d gone off to test while OH stayed in bed and I was going to bring it in to our room and we’d watch it together - I’d set my 3 min timer, etc. But it showed within 30secs and I’d not even finished washing my hands so I just ran into our room like some hysterical creature - must have been terrifying for my OH - he’s still in shock!!

I think my due date will be early September. Really hoping that all goes well for all our little babas 🥰

Happy Christmas everyone! Xxx
