Hi, just found out after a long time trying! Haven't really told anyone yet so thought some ladies in the same position might want somewhere to share symptoms/stories/worries. Doesn't feel real yet and that 12 week scan seems a loooooong way off!! 😂

@bicki thanks so much. I will keep everything crossed for you tomorrow 💕💕 xx

MostlyAmbridgeandcoffee · 09/01/2020 07:11

@Bicki hope all goes well today - let us know how you get on!

IslayBrigid · 09/01/2020 08:16

@ButterflyRuns how was your scan? Really hope all is good!
Nausea is starting to hit me harder now, I'm 6+3. I've had a weird couple of days feeling grossed out by everything but then feeling slightly better after I force myself to eat. Liking simple carbs like white bread and crackers and could NOT handle avocado yesterday 🤢🥑

My sister told me yesterday she had a miscarriage at about 7 weeks so I'm really sad for her and just hoping she is ok. She lives in Australia and we haven't spoken on phone yet as I think she needed some time before chatting 😰 so sad, hope she will be able to move past it and try again, if she wants 💔

Martina2311 · 09/01/2020 10:00

Hi ladies, just wondered for those who have nausea, does it come and go on some days? I was really nauseous the last 3 days but today I feel almost normal, I even hab4 a good appetite. Not that I miss it but I was happy I feel pregnant lol Do you think it can be full on and then disappear on some days?

Elle81 · 09/01/2020 10:01

Hi everyone 😊
Congratulations to all of you 🤗 I am 5 weeks and 3 days pregnant, due on the 8th September. This is my second pregnancy (DD is 8) and completely different from what I have experienced 9 years ago; I have no symptoms whatsoever apart from being a bit bloated 🙄 with her I couldn't get out of bed without having to run to the toilet and couldn't eat anything apart from white bread for months 😭 I am a bit scared as I will be 39 soon and DH is 49 but it was all planned and we are all quite excited 🤗

Mammasj · 09/01/2020 13:05

Is anyone else just wanting to sleep from morning to night and then getting in a mood when you can't? 🤦🏽‍♀️ I'm in a mood at work, in a mood at home but happy when I'm in bed 😂

megan81088 · 09/01/2020 13:20

@Iliada hey how did your scan go? Iv got one booked for next week when I’ll be 7+3 so just wondered what you saw on yours? I have no idea what to expect! Thanks

IslayBrigid · 09/01/2020 13:25

Hey @Martina2311 yes I am having something similar today and last few days. I was pretty queesy and nauseous yesterday and early this morn a little too, then once I got to work I felt fine and at lunch I was ravenous, ate a huge plate of pasta. So for me it seems to be fluctuating! I'm 6+3 :)

Martina2311 · 09/01/2020 13:38

@IslayBrigid Glad it's not just me! I always get a bit anxious when symptoms drop. My belly doesn't feel bloated today either. It's nice to be more comfortable but at this early stage I find it reassuring to feel more pregnant. Seams like we are at similar stage, I should be 6+4 :)

IslayBrigid · 09/01/2020 14:22

@Martina2311 yes we are very close! Is this your first baby? I know what you mean, I was feeling quite reassured yesterday when I was so ill! But I am settling into the idea that symptoms ebb and flow, and actually maybe this is our body's trick of ensuring we don't only eat bland, non-nutritious food.
Incidentally I found grapes really good as a nausea snack, and also crackers.

Martina2311 · 09/01/2020 14:36

It's our second baby, but 3rd pregnancy. How about yours?

I've heard grapes work for many people! I still ate normal food even though I was nauseous, trying to keep it healthy even though I didnt have much appetite and it always took me a bit of convincing to finish of the portion. But crackers worked for me as well between meals as well as bananas and tangerines 😁

I went to an early scan on Tuesday which showed a heartbeat but now thinking the reassurment didnt last as long as I want. Planning another scan at 8 weeks. Are you about to get an early one or waiting for 12 weeks?

IslayBrigid · 09/01/2020 15:15

@Martina2311 good to know about the tangerines, I've been craving citrus fruit! Yes trying hard to keep being healthy but definitely had a weird assortment of things yesterday. What about exercise.... what are you doing in that regard?

It's my first pregnancy so first baby :) I'm 31 and partner is 32. Recently bought a house and now we both feel ready to start a fam :) definitely a lot of life changes at once which is a bit surreal at times, and we still need to do a lot of work on the house so have a busy year ahead haha. Feeling very lucky of course.

I understand how the scan reassurance might not last...all we can really do is have faith coz we don't really know what is happening in there except for that tiny window of time where we actually see the scan! I am tempted by an early scan but have for now decided against, mostly due to cost and due to Mum & sister in law saying I should maybe not just in case it negatively affects baby in such early stages. I imagine the chances of this are minimal if not zero, but I suppose different fears get hold of different people don't they! I'm feeling good about waiting for the 12 week scan now but if I have any weird symptoms I'll reconsider ... xx

Bicki · 09/01/2020 15:15

@MostlyAmbridgeandcoffee @Duffy23 Thanks for the good wishes - I had my scan earlier and apparently it looks 'perfect' 😊 I'm 6 weeks 5 days so now due on the 29 August. There was no obvious cause for the spotting and was told it was no cause for concern. Now we have a heartbeat, I feel I can finally allow myself a little excitement and optimism 😍

Pralinehalo · 09/01/2020 16:19

@IslayBrigid sorry just saw this! Thanks for the recommendation :) I got "How to grow a baby and push it out" by Clemmie Hooper and "The day by day pregnancy book". Both seem really good Smile

Pralinehalo · 09/01/2020 16:23

@KittieKath yeah it really is! I had to take a clear blue test this morning just in case it was one brand giving me false positives.... Trying very hard to leave it at that now and not freak out at every cramp etc

Zm2019 · 09/01/2020 18:11

I'm 7 weeks today and OMG my boobs have gotten so big and sore.
Just been reading about maternity bras and apparently they recommend getting one once you start to outgrow your normal bras. Last time I was pregnant nearly 7 years ago, the shop wouldn't measure me for a maternity bra till I was 36ish weeks. Cant wait to get rid of the underwires lol

Duffy23 · 09/01/2020 18:29

@Bicki so glad to hear that! I was thinking of you today 💕💕. We are both due the same day too! Xx

kersh33 · 09/01/2020 18:36

Glad to hear about all the scans going well! You're right that the reassurance only lasts so long! Can't wait for my next scan in February. Still spotting but trying not to worry about it any more now I've seen the baby. Smile

Duffy23 · 09/01/2020 18:52

@kersh33 I will have my 12 wk scan mid Feb. It seems like as million years away! X

SpaceDinosaur · 09/01/2020 19:35

@zm2019 this just plain wrong! They should have fitted you for a maternity bra as soon as you asked.

99.9% of the time Mat bras are non wired.
When you get them fitted, they should do up on the tightest setting at the back to give you room to let it out as your rib cage expands.
The cup should be on the generous side of "fits" with room to grow into.

Nursing bras are different. You don't want to be measured for one of those bad boys until baby's dropped at the absolute earliest and you want to be able to fit a hand inside the bra as that'll accommodate your milk coming in and pads.

Never go to M&S. just as a rule, they're shite at fitting and their bras are limited.

John Lewis or Debenhams for high Street

Bravissimo for us "larger busted" ladies
Moike are fantastic for comfort too.

Mrs71 · 09/01/2020 21:07

@kersh33 I had my scan yesterday was amazing to see the baby and heartbeat. I'm still spotting too can't help but worry but do feel better knowing nothing is wrong and like you said the reassurance doesn't last long. Have you got your date for 12 week scan? I've been referred to the midwife from gp hopefully will get a booking appointment through soon.

Beth804 · 09/01/2020 21:14

@Zm2019 My boobs are so big and sore too. This is baby number 2 so I dug out some maternity bras from last time and it felt soooo much better when I put one on! No going back now! 😂

My nausea is horrendous this time round, really struggling to get through the days as it's constant and so debilitating. I got some tablets from the doctor and I thought the first one maybe worked a bit, but has since been as bad as ever, so pointless taking them. Might go back in case there's something else.

Congrats to all who have seen little beans on their scans! Mine is next week, so nervous/excited! Can't come soon enough!

@Mrs71 @Duffy23 My next appointment is on the 2nd February. I should be around 10 weeks by then so hopefully will be able to date the pregnancy properly. But it does feel like ages - everyone has told me the first trimester really drags as there's not a lot going on medically and obviously there's no real way of knowing what's going on without the scans!

Had my blood tests yesterday to check my hcg levels so should get the results today. Keeping my fingers crossed the numbers look good!

Still spotting and having to get used to the fact that I'm no longer able to run. Sad My gynae basically forbade it and I'm a really keen runner, I run 3 times a week. I've been told to do 30 mins of brisk walking every day, but it doesn't feel the same! I've been on a big weight loss journey (lost around 15kgs this year) and a bit worried that I'm going to put it all back on with the pregnancy as I've also increased the amount I eat too as I was generally between 800 and 1200 calories a day before. But I know it's best for the baby soooo....

kersh33 · 10/01/2020 07:19

@Beth804 will keep my fingers crossed for you! How many weeks will you be?
