Hi, just found out after a long time trying! Haven't really told anyone yet so thought some ladies in the same position might want somewhere to share symptoms/stories/worries. Doesn't feel real yet and that 12 week scan seems a loooooong way off!! 😂

@ButterflyRuns no you defiantly cant. I'll be booking in for that my local clinic that does private scans does it. Good luck with scan tomorrow I have mine too, I feel so anxious.

Mrs71 · 07/01/2020 20:57

@ButterflyRuns cross post! x

IslayBrigid · 07/01/2020 20:59

@ButterflyRuns and @Mrs71 did you know the nhs offers basically the harmony test at same time as 12 week scan? It won't tell you the sex of the baby but does screen for downs syndrome, Edwards and another one www.nhs.uk/conditions/pregnancy-and-baby/screening-amniocentesis-downs-syndrome/

So depending on what you want to find out, you could avoid the hefty price and just go with the NHS x

ButterflyRuns · 07/01/2020 21:02

@IslayBrigid That’s interesting, thank you will have a read! I might hold out for what they say then then as I know I’m more at risk as an over 35 anyway. I knew they offered tests but wasn’t sure at what point or specifically what.

@Mrs71 And no worries about the cross post! I’m sure the scan thing would be cleared up if I tried to book it too early anyway, but wonder why this website said it (not actually one of my local clinics, I was just researching) www.oxfordfertility.co.uk/treatments/harmony-prenatal-test/

That’s so useful @FoxtrotSkarloey thank you! So it’s probably worth having the combined test at 12 weeks first and then if I have any worries do the Harmony Test rather than getting ahead of myself

Mrs71 · 07/01/2020 21:20

@FoxtrotSkarloey @Islaybrigid
That's what I've read too! But in my area the nhs doesn't fund the harmony test regardless.

@ButterflyRuns how far gone are you? I'm 6+4 today hoping they can see heartbeat with external scan.

@FoxtrotSkarloey thanks so much that's really interesting!

Just thought I'd talk a bit about my weird symptoms haha. I've been having nausea on and off last few days (I'm 6+1) but nothing major. I also have this weird thing where I am either super hungry or feeling completely repulsed by food. But rather than nausea it's more queesyness. Strangely even the smell of my soap makes me a bit queesy.

Anyone else having similar symptoms around the same time?
I'm also craving stuff I wouldn't usually eat, such as chicken when I'm usually vegetarian 🙈

ButterflyRuns · 07/01/2020 23:29

@Mrs71 I’m 8+2 now! Not really sure what to expect tomorrow but fingers crossed all good.
@IslayBrigid My nausea started around the 6 week mark but it wasn’t too bad, the worst symptoms I’ve been experiencing have honestly been the last week. Hopefully it’ll ease up soon but I won’t get too excited!

@FoxtrotSkarloey I’m the same age you were with your DS! I’m in a financial position where I could pay for the Harmony Test either way and still would want to go ahead just because it’s more accurate and I definitely get anxious about these things so it’d be nice to know but I figure I should have the scan first and then do it privately on the NHS?

Happyhippie88 · 08/01/2020 05:57

@MostlyAmbridgeandcoffee i had spotting new years day and some again last night, last nights was less then new years day. Makes me worry alot but i think it's just the stretching dislodging some old blood. I had a scan sunday and they said my cervix was closed. Think im just going to worry until 12 week scan 😂

Martina2311 · 08/01/2020 07:51

Hello and congratulations to all the new mums to be! :) it's so lovely to see this thread become more and more busy every day.

Does anyone else feel like the 6th week us literally blast off with hormones? I feel like the nausea is getting more intense with every day. I feel nauseous everytime my stomach gets a bit empty, which happens a lot as I am not able to eat normal sized portions. I cant stand being in the kitchen so DH is doing all the cooking and washing up. Kitchen is just full of odors 🙈 I was sick even at night.

empeaches · 08/01/2020 09:51

Hello everyone! Found out last Thursday and I am 7+3 (still learning the terminology!) so due around 23rd August. I've been feeling fine but as soon as I hit 7 weeks the nausea has kicked in hard and I'm existing on ginger beer, crackers and plain carbs when I can manage them! It's crazy how my sense of smell has changed already, I can't open the fridge without gagging and I can smell our kitty's litter tray from three rooms away.

This is my first pregnancy and we're waiting for a few weeks to start telling family and friends. Booking appointment is next Tuesday and we're planning on telling our family after that Smile

Mrs71 · 08/01/2020 16:40

Hi everyone! Had my scan had to have it done internally but it was fine no pain at all. Saw my little bean with a heartbeat it's pretty amazing. I'm beyond happy. 6+5 today exactly where I thought.
@ButterflyRuns how did you get on? Hope everything is ok with you too. x

MostlyAmbridgeandcoffee · 08/01/2020 17:58

Aw how exciting!

Spotting continued today (not a lot). Think will keep an eye and see if it clears soon. Not sure who to go to hospital wise as not sure they will review me this early ? (6 weeks)?

MostlyAmbridgeandcoffee · 08/01/2020 17:59

It’s driving me a bit crazy with worry though!

Mrs71 · 08/01/2020 18:35

@MostlyAmbridgeandcoffee they said my brown spotting is mostly likely due to implantation bleeding. As long as it's not red it's quite common. Maybe go to your gp and ask for a referral. It's defiantly put my mind at rest.

kersh33 · 08/01/2020 19:09

Hi All!

I'd like to join too! Got my BFP on the 23rd December and am around 6 weeks.

I am having this baby in France so having to navigate a whole new medical system too where everything is different.

Just back from my gynaecologist who squeezed me in early as I've been having brown and pink spotting for the last 2 weeks and I was a bit worried.

Had an internal scan and all looks good for now which is quite reassuring, had almost talked myself into the fact that I was having an ectopic pregnancy! She couldn't identify why I was bleeding but saw what might have been a second sac so thinks I might be miscarrying a twin. She wasn't really able to date the pregnancy though which has worried me a little.

Still spotting, but at least I am a bit reassured. Booked in for another scan in 3 weeks where hopefully we'll be able to see a bit more. It was quite difficult to see anything as the embryo is so small!

More blood tests in the meantime so will be able to check that my HCG levels are rising as expected.

This is such an unbelievably anxious time isn't it!

SpaceDinosaur · 08/01/2020 19:43

Hi! I'd like to join too- found out on 29th December and I think I'm due on 27th August!

This is my second pregnancy, my DD is now 3.

MostlyAmbridgeandcoffee · 08/01/2020 20:49

Thanks that is a little reassuring !

Nunesa09b · 08/01/2020 20:57

I found out on the same day as you that I am expecting baby number 2 18/12/19 exciting moments just waiting now for my midwife appointment... What is ur estimated due date right now? All calculators are giving me 27/08

Bicki · 08/01/2020 21:44

I have had the same at 6 weeks, 7 days. The EPU seemed pretty relaxed about it and said they'd only scan me early if it was red. As it happens, I'd already booked a private scan for tomorrow as I was feeling anxious my only symptom is sore boobs. Hopefully will put my mind to rest 🤞

Bicki · 08/01/2020 21:46

Apologies. I meant spotting in response to an earlier post. First time posting so forgive me!

Duffy23 · 08/01/2020 22:49

@Bicki I had spotting & bleeding last night & today. Went to my GP & then hospital. I had a scan done & all is well. I am 6.5 weeks & due at the end of August xx

Bicki · 08/01/2020 22:59

@duffy23 excellent news for you, hope I'm the same x
