New thread for our July gang 😊

Shall we do a little reminder of who we all are so we can see who is on here - Age, current EDD and if we know our 12 week scan date?

I'll start:

31 - EDD 08/07 - 12 week scan 24/12

I have joined the facebook group but it seems a lot of people are a lot further ahead, some like 16 to 20 weeks, would itnot be better if we had our own group? We all seem to be so much closer to each other? Just a thought

RedRobin7 · 02/01/2020 17:28

@susie12345 I just came on to write the same thing! Seems a bit daunting with so many members on there and the group was created two months ago. Let's have a smaller one 😊

@LisaxMarie Congrats on the scan!

@Dav87 Welcome! Yes they do the neck measurement at the dating scan and then send you for blood tests - they put it all in the computer after and give you a percentage for those 3. I had mine on Xmas eve and still waiting for the results.

I'm assuming we want the group to be both private and hidden for those who haven't announced it yet. Not sure how is best to add people to a group? Maybe I could private message you my name, you search for me on fb and add me as a friend temporarily until I've added you to the group and then you can delete me?

Any better suggestions please shout!

@LisaxMarie congrats on your scan!!!

@RedRobin7 yeah would be much better to have our own group, who is up for it??

I have a question, everytime i sneeze which is quite a lot at the moment, i get a sharp pain in my uterus and im scared im hurting the baby, is it possible to hurt the baby by sneezing?

Angloitalian83 · 02/01/2020 18:14

@LisaxMarie scan looks lovely, hope you enjoyed the experience.

I had my 9 wk scan this afternoon & was convinced something was as wrong as my pregnancy symptoms had all but diminished but all was well. Heart beating & baby was wriggling & looked like a teddy bear. Very relieved. But also a bit scary as I now need to face my medical anxieties and needle phobia.

@Bythelake89 thanks for sharing, really good to have company & share tips for managing the anxiety. I've never heard of BWRT. Did you have just one session? Expensive? I didn't discuss with my GP in advance but my midwife advised me to refer myself to local mental health services but I reckon referral would take ages.

Wayekalb · 02/01/2020 19:34

I think my sickness has eased then boom!! I have a day like today and I just feel dreadful. 😫

Bythelake89 · 02/01/2020 19:39

@Angloitalian83 Yeah, it was just one session (they said that was all that was needed) and it cost €85 euro. I hadn't heard of it before either. It reminded me of CBT which I've heard positive experiences about as well for managing anxiety.
Referrals can be frustratingly slow I know! This was just a private thing so I got the appointment a week after booking.

susie12345 · 02/01/2020 20:05

@RedRobin7 are you happy to set up the group and be the admin? If so, i would suggest to set up the group as private and add a security question that only members on here will he able to answer, for example where did you learn about this group? The answer could be mumsnet. That way only people from this group can be added to facebook group as if someone didnt answer correctly, you dont have to accept them.
Does that make sense?

Once the group is set up, just post on here the name of the group and we can all request to join :). Just really depends on if you are happy to be the admin, i dont mind helping if you want :)

RedRobin7 · 02/01/2020 21:10

Anyone who wants to join a smaller private Facebook I've created this one:

m.facebook.com/groups/2622082391193805/

It's called Summer Chicks as our chicks are due to hatch in the summer 😉 Happy for name change requests and a better group photo!

Also feel free to stay on MN only - we'll still be here too!

I have a question.... at what point in a pregnancy should we be lying on our left side to sleep?

RedRobin7 · 02/01/2020 21:48

@peanutfoldover If you scroll down to yesterday afternoon, @Bythelake89 shared a helpful article 😊

I’d love to join the fb group @RedRobin7 but I’m so paranoid about my NIPT results and people from work seeing (even though it’s a very subtle name!). I’ll check back in a week or two for sure

RedRobin7 · 03/01/2020 07:28

@rosamundos No pressure, we'll be there when you're ready! I think there's 11 of us so far so nice little group 😊

Good luck with the results xx

I'm putting off sleeping on my left as long as possible. I always sleep on my front normally so will continue as long as I can (which won't be for much longer 😢). If I remember rightly with DS I'd just sleep in whatever position was comfortable and allowed me to get some sleep.

Now is a really good time to start stocking up on pillows in the sales. You cannot have enough pillows in later pregnancy. If DH has to move into the spare room to accommodate those pillows, even better Wink x

Wayekalb · 03/01/2020 08:45

I've just joined xx

peanutfoldover · 03/01/2020 09:22

I’m trying now to sleep on my left but already getting fed up with it. In my last pregnancy I found a rolled up single duvet (into a long sausage) was perfect!

Bythelake89 · 03/01/2020 15:10

I'm feeling chuffed - I just got a big bag of almost new maternity clothes for free! I joined a local freecycling group on FB and saw it advertised there. Maternity clothes are great to get second-hand as they were likely only worn for a few months. It has saved me a lot of money that I can now spend on the babóg Wink!

HelenJudi · 03/01/2020 18:42

@RedRobin7 I would love to join the Facebook group but I still haven't told a lot of people about the pregnancy so I'm worried about being on a Facebook group. I'll hope to join later on :)

RedRobin7 · 03/01/2020 18:56

@peanutfoldover What a genius cheap idea! I found a U shape pillow on wowcher so just waiting for that now.

@Bythelake89 What a result! I've also heard people put bundles on ebay so I might check that out!

@HelenJudi No worries, I understand! Will be great for you to join when you're ready!

Has anyone had much brown spotting at 12 weeks?

Secondsop · 04/01/2020 11:30

Hello everyone have been quiet for a few days out and about. I would also love to join the fb group but I think once I’ve had my 12 week scan, given I’m taking this one one day at a time. I’m just about to embark on a mammoth approx 24 hours of flights with sole charge of my 2 children 😳😳 wish me luck...

@StephS1984 I’m not yet at 12 weeks with this one, but when I had my second child I had brown spotting all the way through the first trimester. This time I had some reddish brown mucus and little bits a couple of times and it worried me but didn’t last. I’m now telling myself it’s a sign that things are positively happening?

StephS1984 · 05/01/2020 10:03

Good luck and best wishes everyone, I am leaving the group. Thank you to everyone for their support.

After spotting for a couple of days, I didn’t feel right and wanted reassurance before our scan on Thursday, so booked a private scan for yesterday morning. Unfortunately, we should have been 12+3 weeks, but baby was measuring at 6+5 weeks, with sac at 8+3 weeks. So we have a missed miscarriage.

On a positive note, while this is devastating and traumatic to me, my experience will benefit future people in this situation of finding out “out of hours”, as an NHS commissioner has deemed it an area for improvement following my experience and it will be reviewed.

S x

Kiki275 · 05/01/2020 10:14

@StephS1984 so sorry to hear this. Look after yourself and I'm pleased to hear improvements will be made as a result x

Bibinka · 05/01/2020 10:24

@StephS1984 I am so sorry. Hoping you are getting the support you need right now . Sending hugs your way x
