New thread for our July gang 😊

Shall we do a little reminder of who we all are so we can see who is on here - Age, current EDD and if we know our 12 week scan date?

I'll start:

31 - EDD 08/07 - 12 week scan 24/12

Hi all, my wife had a private scan yesterday which dated us even further ahead since our previous scan two weeks ago! According to them we are at 12 weeks as of yesterday. All appearing to be okay and we could see the little one kicking around energetically! Our NHS scan isn’t until 7th Jan, so will look to see if we can move it earlier as that could put us beyond the 14 week mark at that time. Hope all of you who are going for scans over the next few days hear the best of news and wish everyone a great Christmas and new year.

Amazing pic!!! @AutumnDazed congrats!!

susie12345 · 23/12/2019 08:33

@AutumnDazed congrats, beautiful scan picture, you must be over the moon!!!

Im sorry to hijack this thread but i need to ask a question, i am not seeing my midwife until february and im still searching for prenatal vitamins that wont cause me ibs issues. Can someone please tell me if these are safe? They contain a bit of beta carotene (which is vitamin A) but it says * in NRV, would that mean its so low its actually ok? Im a bit worried im not giving this baby enough vitamins.
I only take folic acid and vitamin D at the moment.

Thank you

@AutumnDazed Lovely photo! So happy for you! We normally crop out our personal details before posting though - can see your wife's name. Just in case you hadn't realised.

Feeling anxious about mine tomorrow but keeping everything crossed it's okay.

@susie12345 I'd stay away from anything that doesn't specifically say for pregnant women. Maybe pop to see a pharmacist who can advise you properly. You can just take folic acid and vitamin D - they're the two most important. My midwife said now I'm at 12 weeks I can stop taking multivitamins and just take vitamin D but there's no harm in carrying on. So I'm going to stick with them due to my gluten free and veggie diet.

@RedRobin7 hi these are prenatal vitamins im just unsure about the beta carotene, because when im searching on amazon, lots of prenatal vitamins have vitamin a or betacarotene but its not advisable in the uk. But the prenatal vitamins my midwife gave me (i just cant take them as they cause me issues) contain 2mg of betacarotene, these contain 3mg. I am taking vitamin D and folic acid as my midwife also said to at least take them but i dont eat much fruit or veg (i really should). Im also on gluten free diet.
Can i ask what vitamins you take?

RedRobin7 · 23/12/2019 09:01

@susie12345 Ah okay, that's a difficult one. Do you have a number for your midwife or the team? Definitely best to check first. Maybe create a new post on the pregnancy board - there is a lady on here who is a midwife and I see her commenting on some of the threads.

I'm on the seven seas pregnancy vitamins. They do cause constipation so I have to have Fybogel most days to help it.

@susie12345 I'd give your midwife a call or text. Mine said along the lines of no question is silly or a pain, they really don't mind. I'm taking the Boots mix of folic acid and vit d. She said to just keep taking them til I've finished the bottle, even after 12 weeks.

All the best with everyone's scans today 😊 xx

AutumnDazed · 23/12/2019 09:07

@RedRobin7 ahh, that’s a very good point! Not sure how to change it now... Shock

susie12345 · 23/12/2019 09:17

Thanks everyone, i phoned the midwife advice line and they said just to take folic acid and vitamin d and not to worry about other vitamins. I will just do as they said then and hope its all going to be fine. Think im overthinking things a bit too much :D

RedRobin7 · 23/12/2019 09:28

@AutumnDazed You can swipe left on your post and report it and add a comment that you want it removed due to personal details and then just post again 😉

@susie12345 Glad you've spoken to someone and feel reassured. I know it's hard not to worry! Plenty of people don't take multivitamins for one reason or another and just stick to the two important ones.

Had our scan this morning, only measured 11+1 so baby was 1mm too small to do the screening tests :(

But good news is we get to go back and see it again in two weeks!

My son ended up coming with us, and he got to see the baby wave and dance! And is beyond happy he's going to be a big brother :)

And the baby scan is the exact same as his brothers, both had their little hands on their head!

Awesome news @susie12345

Kiki275 · 23/12/2019 17:19

Eurgh, overindulged on KFC at lunch and have spent all afternoon regretting it. Baby finally had enough and made me ill when I got home.

Got a firm scan date for 10th Jan though so happy for that x

F1uff · 23/12/2019 17:27

Hello - been lurking on this thread for a month or so but had a second scan today which dated me at 9w0d and had a heartbeat, saw it jump about a bit but it still resembled a fuzzy blob. NHS scan not till 15th jan seems so long away! I’ve really appreciated reading this board and having people at the same stage as me and making my worries seem normal as everyone seems to be scared of the same things =)
This is my second ever pregnancy, I had a mmc in May. Trying not to be too neurotic and second guess everything. I’m 34 and feel like an old woman whenever I go to the early pregnancy unit...

mimiroo1 · 23/12/2019 18:33

So I'm going home for Christmas. Still dont know if I'm ready to tell family and friends I'm pregnant. Until my 12 week scan. Which isn't until new years eve. How is everyone else hiding there pregnancy from family and friends?

RedRobin7 · 23/12/2019 19:55

@showmewhatyougot @susie12345 Great news ladies!

@F1uff Welcome to our little group! I always find my MN ladies keep me sane.

@mimiroo1 I can't imagine keeping such a big secret from my family but I know everyone is different. We told mine and DH's around 6 weeks as we've had miscarriages before and we'd want them in the loop if it happened again. We've had 4 scans now so we've gradually told our closest friends and my manager. 12 week scan tomorrow and then all being well we'll tell extended family on Xmas day.

OP posts:
F1uff · 23/12/2019 20:47

@mimiroo1 I’m avoiding it by... not avoiding it. I’ve told most of my close family already and my few close friends. I asked myself would I tell them if I miscarried, and if the answer was yes (because I’d need their support or because I don’t mind them knowing) then I told them. Frankly, I often think the not telling people thing is for their benefit, not yours. My mum was more upset than me when I miscarried in May. (That sounds like I’m heartless but I guess I’d just prepared myself for the worst a little too well.)
It’s entirely personal choice of course, but I honestly don’t have any friends who I wouldn’t tell I’d miscarried, so it doesn’t bother me too much. I just make sure to stress (to older family members in particular) that it’s ‘early days’, and that anything could happen, and when I know more I’ll let them know if they’re interested =)
Saves faking drinking over Christmas, but god do I want a glass of wine right now!

mimiroo1 · 23/12/2019 21:58

@RedRobin7 & @f1uff think I'm just really nervous. Both of our parents are ill. So dont want to tell them the good news until I've had my scan. As so far all I've had is home pregnancy tests to say I'm pregnant. I love love a glass of wine right now.

LeaderoftheAteam · 23/12/2019 22:05

Can I join? Not my first rodeo but feeling more nervous as its DC4 Shock 12week Scan is on Friday. Very excited.

susie12345 · 23/12/2019 22:19

I cant believe i forgot to ask how big the baby is so i know how much it has grown. Does anyone understand the report we are given at these private scans and if it says how big the baby is? Thank you

@susie12345 the CRL is crown to rump length so 2.54cm - is that what you mean?
