Hey ladies, welcome to Ginger and PiggyP

Sounds like everyone had a relaxing long weekend. I don't work Mondays anyway so no real difference for me except that DH was home.

My scan is a week today, and I'm starting to get paranoid again. Either that something will be wrong or that it will be twins! I wasn't paranoid at all before my scan with DD, just really excited. This whole pregnancy feels very different - I'm so much more tired (hence the twin panic). Oh well, only a week to go!

Angua - hormonal meltdowns aren't just normal in pregnancy, they're a god-given right! Poor DP's do get a bit bewildered by them though!

Hannah - try not to worry too much about the medication. As long as you didn't take huge amounts, I'm sure you'll be fine. All medicines are contra-indicated in pregnancy unless they're done extensive tests to make sure they're safe. Hopefully your mw will be able to put your mind at rest.

I had great plans of getting lots done today, but DD seems to have decided that now she's a big girl of 2, she doesn't need to nap any more. How the heck do I get anything done without the peace and quiet of nap time! Aaargh!

Can't remember who was asking(barely remember my name at the mo!) but accupuncture works wonders for morning sickness.
That and eating non-stop!

Hi everyone

welcome piggyp and Ginger.

Angua - YES I really identify with how you describe feeling. I also have a new job and am finding this whole process kind of overwhelming. I'm happy to be pregnant but definitely have a lot of conflicting feelings about changes to my body/life etc.

Feeling less sick is definitely helping. That's a really good point about what would happen if you were sick for 9 weeks under other circumstances. You certainly wouldn't be going about your life pretending there was nothing going on and hardly telling anyone you felt poorly

Funnily enough years ago a girl I knew told me that acupuncture was great for MS and I stored that knowledge away for a time when it would be of use to me and when that time came, I totally forgot all about it. oh well, I hate needles, so it might have been counter productive.

derah - my scan is a week tomorrow. I'm so excited. I think I might have to tell work this week. not so much excited about that...

RachelPross · 28/08/2007 20:05

Hello all, I finally have my booking appointment on Thursday. Feel like I've been waiting forever. Have been suffering with horrible nausea and have been exhausted for the past few weeks. I'm sure I didn't feel like this with DD....maybe it's a boy????
I could literally sleep till lunchtime and then still sleep all night, and I do some days.
Can't wait till this triedness subsides as it's not doing my home business empire any good at all. ;)

RachelPross · 28/08/2007 20:16

Turtle - my DH was a total arse about my pregnancy last time, didn't come near me for almost 9 months. I was beginning to feel like he'd gone off me altogether.

However, I don't think I did myself any favours as I was so hormonal, my boobs hurt and I was so freaked out by being pregnant and he didn't get it at all. Which made me in my hormonal state even worse....best thing to do is sit down and talk ti him about how you feel about being preggers and ask him to share how he is feeling.

Thats what we did this time round and all is tickety boo, wish I'd thought of it first time round. How silly I am

frankerooney · 28/08/2007 20:18

Hello all,

Derah I keep having the twins panics too. My ds is 2 and no longer has a nap but I really need mine! so I put him in his bed with a bottle anyway, and leave some toys in his room and he plays for an hour til I get up.

I feel so tired; I explain it to people that even when I'm lying down, I feel like I need to lie down!

The only I'm dealing with ms is to graze constantly. I've even got to the point that my stomach can't cope with a meal. I could only nibble at the lovely chinese takeaway we got last night . If I'm without food for more than an hour through the day, I become a crazed person !

Anyway glad to hear some of you are getting over the ms. I had it til I was 14 weeks last time, but hope it will go sooner this time.

Best wishes to all of you and your beans.

glammarjoram · 28/08/2007 21:40

Evening all,
Sorry to hear some of you have been suffereing with tiredness and nausea and headaches. Sleeping is the only time I'm truly at peace.
I have my scan tomorrow morning, nice and early at 09.20. I'm preparing or trying to prepare for the worst but hoping for the best. I was never this nervous with DD, like you Rachel. Oh, well, we'll see what tomorrow brings. Don't know if I'll sleep much tonight.
Hope you are all doing as well as can be expected, in fact I hope you're all doing better than that.

e14mum · 29/08/2007 10:23

Hello all,
GM, I hope the scan went well. I'm one day behind you- tomorrow at 3:20. Got my fiver ready to pay for the picture...
Hope today brings less nausea and more energy!

AnguaVonUberwald · 29/08/2007 10:27

Hey all, the only thing that seems to have helped with my morning sickness is Pregnacare!! I don't know why. Strangly when taking it, i seem to throw up in the mornings, but then feel less nauseous throughtout the rest of the day, whereas previously, i wasn't throwing up, but feeling crap constantly.

Then again, now scared as symtoms have got less.

Scan on Friday, will be 11 weeks. Very exited and scared!

Brazilianmum · 29/08/2007 10:31

When can we stop taking Folic Acid. I bought pregnacare, but really struggle to swallow the huge tablets. I have to cut it in half, but even then it is not pleasant.

glammarjoram · 29/08/2007 11:08

Hello all,

The scan went fine , thx for your message e14. We paid our fiver, got 2 pics and then discovered they put 2 more in your red book anyway. We took photos with our phones of the scan pic and I think they look better than the ones they gave, sorry, sold us! All the best for you tomorrow and to all the others who have scans coming up. I was very scared right up until the sonographer pointed out the heartbeat. We both had tears in our eyes, and I had them all down my face!
The nausea does get better, I'm starting to feel human again and I'm sure everyone else will too very soon. Have a good day all, I'm off back to work.

glammarjoram · 29/08/2007 11:10

Meant to say to Brazilianmum, I think they reckon folic acid up to 12 weeks. I'm taking Sanotogen ProNatal and although they're big, I can get them down and I'm not good with tablets either. I'm going to take them the whole way as I don't trust myself to have a fabulous diet every single day.

Brazilianmum · 29/08/2007 11:22

Thanks GM, I will keep taking the Sanatogen tables to ensure I take in all the nutrients I need for a healthy baby. Mostly what I feel like eating is pasta and anything with cheese, so can't guarantee I will have a balanced diet either. Although I have been eating lots of fruit.

yardette · 29/08/2007 12:11

Hi all
Haven't had chance to write anything for a while, but I have been stalking the board to keep up to date with all the news.

Things good here - I haven't had any ms all the way through really (which still occassionally worries me), although I occassionally get very tired. Scan is next Monday (when I'll be 12 +6), and I'm counting down the days. We told a load of our friends at the weekend, as we were away on a camping trip for the long weekend, and my non drinking, non smoking would have been far too obvious for a whole weekend otherwise! I'm 12 weeks now, but am waiting till after the scan to tell work and other friends.

Sorry to hear some of you are having rough times with the old hormones and partners. The hormones seem to promise a rough and ready roller coaster - if it makes you feel better, I can tell you that after a week of crying a couple of weeks ago, I am now cruising through a blissful "whatever will be will be" type faze, where it feels like nothing will get me down! As for the partners, I would def recommend sitting down for a good chat - which is what me and DH did a couple of weeks ago.

Good luck to all of you with scans in the next few days, and hope that the nausea passes soon for all of you

xx

derah · 29/08/2007 13:02

Hi ladies

Yay for all those with successful scans! Were your beans hopping up and down like mad? DD was for her 12 week scan - just amazing. I couldn't believe I had something bouncing like that in my tum and couldn't feel it. And now that she's 2, she's still bouncing!

Our department manager came into the office today and asked me if I've been eating too many cakes or if there's something I need to tell him. Cheeky bugger! But I am very bulgy. He couldn't believe it when I said I'm only 12 weeks. He said "Gosh, you'll be enormous by the end!" Great, thanks!

I'll be amazed if it's not twins. I'm still feeling more tired and more icky by the day. Very of all of you who are feeling better. I'm 11+5 today so there should be some light at the end of the tunnel by now!!

Struggling to keep my eyes open here. No Derah, my little bean was lying back waving at us! Looking really chilled out. Take after his/her dad then. DP has now said he can refer to the baby as a baby now, instead of a fetus. He didn't want to get too attached and now is going to read some more chapters of From Here to Paternity as we're feeling much more confident. I did some research on books for new Dads and there seems to be a lot of dross out there. I bought this for him and it's well written and not too cringingly blokey.

gingercat12 · 29/08/2007 14:35

derah It is not very nice of your colleague to say you will be enormous. You will be just the right size
Somehow I think I'll not have to start a long explanation when I tell my boss the big news tomorrow. He has not seen me for weeks now, so the change will be even more obvious.

iliketosleep · 29/08/2007 15:12

yay no sickness today so far although my boobs are killing me

3madboys · 29/08/2007 15:19

wow loads to catch up on, congrats those who have had scans and good luck to those who have them in the next few days, soon we will all have seen our little beans

i am def feeling less sick however i could still sleep for england and am getting headaches, luckily dp is still being very good, he took the elder two boys out for the morning yesterday, the idea being that ds3 and i could just slob out, instead i had a cleaning blitz paid for it in the afternoon tho as i was knackered.

i have made some purchases for the baby, dont normally do so this early but a couple of people on mumsnet were selling bits i wanted so i thought why not

sheengguth · 29/08/2007 15:22

sheengguth · 29/08/2007 16:04

Thanks ilike!

You've already all been helpful- just reading over your posts. Lots of good advice.

I'm just enjoying getting fat without feeling bad about it and looking forward to my 12 wk scan (10th sep).

ClaphamLauren · 29/08/2007 17:22

Hi All

I'm due on 14th March and this is my first!

Had a couple of scans already due to a few problems, now all seemingly ok. I have two(!) next week.

Good luck everyone! Who has had booking in appointment yet? Did you take your boyf/hubby with you? Should you?
