Good luck today preggers. Hope all goes well. Let us know when you get back.

Turtle at 11+2 junior was 49.1mm long. Now at 14 weeks I'd like to think that junior has got much bigger.

imjin100 · 12/09/2007 10:10

thanks preggersagain - might pop to next tonight - good advice and you're right - who am I kidding!
Will check measurements tonight - they are at home in the drawer of information about babies which is growing nearly as rapidly as me!

preggersagain · 12/09/2007 10:17

don't think they stock the maternity range in store- just directory, but check out the website- i'm living in their £33 black wide legged trousers already!

Right, i'm off now see you later!

Brazilianmum · 12/09/2007 11:42

I haven't seen the mat range instore in Next. There's a Next clearance in Lakeside on the M25 and I found a small section of reduced maternity wear there. Nothing very good, but I bought a nice black skirt with embroidery red from 40 to 20. Maternity clothes are so expensive.

Had 2nd midwife app yesterday and it was pointless. She measure my blood pressure, checked my urine and checked my blood test results. I asked if I could hear the heartbeat and she said they don't do it this early (I'm on my 16th week for God's sake). She said that if she couldn't find a heartbeat then I would have to be rushed to an emergency scan and it would worry me. How rubbish is that.

Found out yesterday that my EDD by scan is 27 Feb which can't be right as, some of you may find this funny/ridiculous, I know the date we conceived. DP and I hadn't been having much sex before getting preg or now for that matter. So I know the exact date and have been working my dates from that, so how can the scan say 27 Feb when my 40 week is up on 1 March? The baby will come when it wants to anyway I guess.

I'm with those of you on the salty stuff. Not craving chocolate but popcorn, wotsits and pretzels, yummy.

Sorry for the longpost.

Cricri sorry to hear your news.

turtle23 · 12/09/2007 11:45

I think I must be really lucky. Just had lovely appt with new midwife team which was in a little clinic with loads of flowers outside. Was told how lovely and perfect things were with me and how really they just wanted me to come in so I'd have maximum opportunity to meet everybody so I wouldn't be faced with strangers on the day. The sun is shining, baby's fine, and I think I may have second trimeter bliss syndrome.....

turtle23 · 12/09/2007 11:47

brazilianmum...I have a home heartbeat doppler thingy that you are welcome to use!! I will be on your side of town on Saturday if you're aching to hear the heartbeat!

turtle23 · 12/09/2007 11:59

Sorry to keep posting...the huge Gap shops do maternity and they usually have some nice trousers. Not sure how many stock it, but if you look at Gap.com it shows you the kind of stuff they do. Obviously, it's American but I know that there are some shops here that stock it. Guildford being one. I'll shut up now!

MerlinsBeard · 12/09/2007 12:04

just popping in to see how preggers went today and if we can know who she is yet ;)

Brazilianmum · 12/09/2007 12:11

Thanks Turtle and really happy things are going well with you. I bought a heart monitor thingy but you can't hear anything till wk 20. The Dopler is much better and I thought they'd have one at the hospital.

Are you going to be in Central London or SE London?

turtle23 · 12/09/2007 12:15

brazilianmum...have you tried it? mine is only a cheapy but it works from 12 weeks and I found mine at 10! I'm going to be in Whitechapel and Shoreditch so far.

derah · 12/09/2007 12:23

Turtle - will you still like me if I tell you it's been MONTHS and MONTHS since I last exercised in the morning? I've turned into such a lazy cow!

Ugh, I'm with you all on the hunt for maternity clothes. I've got loads of lovely tunic tops now so well stocked there, but the elastic round the button-hole thing isn't working too well now so on Monday I was hunting for maternity jeans. Mothercare had a good range, and lots of smart trousers for work too, but all a bit pricy for me. Then I tried New Look, but they obviously only make mat clothes for skinny preggers teenagers cos they were low rise and didn't fit over my bum!!! I wanted some jeans with the jersey side panel - I've got some full panel ones at home but don't have enough of a bump to keep them up yet. Anyway, tried BHS and their elasticated jeans but they were a weird fit and not stretch denim (I need stretch!). Finally I tried Bon Marche, which does old-lady clothes! They had wonderful stretch jeans with elasticated sides and they are the most comfortable thing I've ever worn! So very very happy!

That was quite a long story wasn't it?

Hey Preggersagain - you'd better tell us who you are later! Very excited with you....

Hi all, not posted for a while cos so busy at work, but been lurking in the background. The best place I've found for cheap maternity clothes (and baby stuff) is the NCT nearly new sales. You can find your local NNS here www.nct.org.uk/local/events, and even though they are used, you can get some lovely things. My next one's on 13 October and I'm really looking forward to it

papaya · 12/09/2007 12:40

morning ladies! Just got back from my scan, saw bean being very incoperative and not wanting to be scanned!! Measuring 13+1, and my dates say 12+6 today so not too far out either way! Am so happy to see the heartbeat!!

So sorry for your loss cri, after 2 mc Iam still amazed to be holding on to this little one, my thoughts are with you xx

imjin100 · 12/09/2007 12:55

papaya - brilliant news, many congratulations - how exciting. The miracle grows only stronger....

PurlyQueen · 12/09/2007 13:13

Hi all,

I went back to the gym yesterday for a total body conditioning class. It's the first piece of exercise I've been able to do for a month - and now I'm aching . Oh well, I'm going to attend my first pre-natal exercise class tomorrow as I'm coming up to the magical 12-week mark (fingers crossed).

My mum must have bought every reduced smock in Peacocks when I told her I was pregnant! I've had them stashed out of sight - I'm superstitious like that! I was in maternity jeans two weeks ago. I snapped up a great pair of Topshop ones for £13 on eBay.

I think I'll just 'happen' to be passing New Look this afternoon

turtle23 · 12/09/2007 13:19

derah...of course. only jealous of your ability to even entertain the idea!
congrats papaya!

ClaphamLauren · 12/09/2007 13:25

For those of you with a doppler, is there a gel I can buy in a high street shop that will do the job? As I forgot to order the gel that comes with it!

preggersagain · 12/09/2007 13:36

he he!! i'm back!!!

just been for my scan and saw bean and bean2 !!!!

So i'm having a second set of twins!

Right i'll come clean- old name was nearlythere- usually to be found on nappy threads and pram threads. The reason i wanted to remain anon was that some people know i used to be a mw, now i own a company who runs nursery shops in Wales. I knew i'd get bombarded in those first few weeks with medical questions!

So i'm 13w exactly, twins, due 19th March!
Had no idea it was twins- that must be why i always found it easy to get a heartbeat with the doppler, they were taking it in turns!

We already have twin ds's and a dd aged 10mo- i must be mad!!!

preggersagain · 12/09/2007 13:37

cl- i use aloe vera gel or a nice thich body lotion works just as well, its just to get the airtight contact.

HolidaysQueen · 12/09/2007 13:51

Ohmigod preggers - what is in the water you drink? A second set of twins? You really are mad

Seriously - that's fab news! Many congratulations. I think that makes it 3 sets of twins in March now, doesn't it?

imjin100 · 12/09/2007 13:52

preggers again - hurray - how exciting - this is just the best news ever - many congratulations to you all!!! Ohhh, living vicariously even more. Am taking it personally and feeling very proud. Brilliant, brilliant news.

ClaphamLauren · 12/09/2007 13:58

Thank you PreggersAgain and CONGRATS! How exciting!

Just found the heartbeat really easily with some Aloe Gel... Awesome

winemakesmummyclever · 12/09/2007 14:43

Hi ladies,

Just checking up on you all (lurk). Am so pleased that you are getting your scans, moving into matty clothes now, and over your ms.

OMG preggers, another set of twins!! Can you please bottle some of your water and sent it up here? lol

Congrats to all & keep up the good work x.

timmyinatizzy · 12/09/2007 15:09

Preggers, I'm so excited for you. Just don't turn up on Supernanny in 3 years time like the family from last week, who's nearly 5 year olds twins were still in nappies over night, 'cos it was easier!' . And the nearly 3 year olds twins wouldn't eat proper food and were strapped into a high chair for every meal .

No wonder you thought you were further gone. Any idea on dates and how far you are actually gone? Don't be leaving us and moving to the Feb thread. Or we will all stalk you!

timmyinatizzy · 12/09/2007 15:10

Doh. Just re-read your first post preggers. Thinks its time I went back to sleep!!!!
