preggers...YOU LUCKY LUCKY THING! Congrats and congrats! I had a feeling you were going to come back with twins. That would explain why you thought you were further along, wouldn't it?

preggersagain · 12/09/2007 15:26

i thought i was just eating too many pies! i nearly fell off the table and dh looked decidedly green when she said "ooh look and another one" i fear the homebirth may have to go out of the window now!

DH has also just dropped the most horrendous bombshell- i may have to change my beloved car i shall fight this to the end!

I'm off out tonight to celebrate, nice meal and a glass of pop!

preggersagain · 12/09/2007 15:28

oh and timmy- do not fear the dt's were out of nappies at 18months as i was fed up with washing the damn things!

turtle23 · 12/09/2007 16:27

TMI warning...I need some suggestions as I am in AGONY. For the last couple of hours I haven't been able to stand up due to wind pain. Finally managed to crawl to the bathroom and run a warm bath which has helped a tiny bit, but am still really in pain. Does this happen to anyone else? Is there ANYTHING I can do? Already having to cut a few foods out and this is getting really silly.

MerlinsBeard · 12/09/2007 17:44

merryberry · 12/09/2007 19:37

great news everyone! sorry re; wind turtle. can't think straight to advise.

having my worst ever day in 2 pgs of MS. haven't kept water down for 7 hours now. feel gruesome. need dp home/ had ot get neighbours (this is VERY un-london behaviour by me) to dish up ds's tea from oven, as my first approach to it made me heave my poor empty stomach over the cooker top.

gouing to bed. house a state. too bad.

spugs · 12/09/2007 19:55

just had a private scan due to crappy nhs making me wait another 2 weeks! baby fine looked like it was asleep but did give us a little wave, could see its toes!!!

apparently i have a fibroid and this was casting a shadow over babies bum so the consultant found it very difficult to measure it. he did give us a measurement of 12 weeks which is one less (and very possible) then i thought, but he couldnt be sure due to shadowing so i have to wait till nhs scan in a week and a half. dont care though im past 12 weeks and bubba fine

piggyp · 12/09/2007 20:04

Hello Pinkmartini, congratulations!
Preggers - two lots of twins - double love!
Impressed by those of you needing maternity wear, I'm not showing at all(15=2). I've got to go on a work trip next week and i'm hoping i don't sudenly expand and have to tie my trousers up with string for the week. Does the bump appear suddenly or gradually?

spugs · 12/09/2007 20:11

turtle - ive had this and found it was due to the iron in my ante natal vits. when i cut these out it really helped.

or you can take my hubbys advice - lie on your back and bring your knees up to your chest. (it does work if a bit noisy )

fitnforty · 12/09/2007 21:18

sounds like we've all had a good day then!

I had my 15 wk appt with the midwife yesterday Brasilianmum, asked about the heartbeat thing and she tried but couldn't find it. Got my pulse and the swishing noise, but no rapid fire heartbeat. She said it was nothing to worry about at this stage since the baby has only just moved up out of the pelvis, so it really works best with a full bladder - which for a change i didn't have!

Tested ok for the usual stuff, though had to do a repeat blood pressure measurement as the electric gadget put me at 123/89, but manual measure had me back at 120/80 again, phew! Also found that the results of my blood tests from the original scan showed my iron levels were good, high-ish even. They're 13.5 and she said anything over 10 is fine, in case anyone else is trying to interpret theirs!

Getting very pissed off with work though, trying my best not to get too pressured (boss making all the right noises about going home early if i need to, not doing too much etc)...but got so much to do in the next 3 weeks, followed by an audit which i've got to lead. Same boss is also shoving more in my direction every day, so two-faced about it all. Going sick won't help as it'll just be there for me to deal with when i get back, and the other girls on the team are just as much under pressure. Can't wait for 6th Oct when i leave it all behind for a week and a bit to go on holiday!

Have conquered the constipation for the time being - flaxseed worked for a while but even that stopped working for me, so now eating as much dried fruit as i can stomach (apricots, prunes etc) and starting off each morning with a cup of hot water with lemon juice...that's really doing the trick!

Wind - got it all the time, but luckily it doesn't stay trapped for too long (as my poor husband has to endure!) - but try some peppermint tea.

Right, time for some strawbs and cream now!

turtle23 · 12/09/2007 21:22

Have just had the dr out as I'm in a sorry state. Things got much worse and I won't repulse you with the details but I have somehow managed to get gastroenteritis despite being so very careful. Can't help but think that my visit to the hospital for scan (where I had to wait for ages in dismal waiting room) may have been the culprit. I am not allowed solid food for 24 hours...how will I survive?!

MarchMum · 12/09/2007 21:36

piggyp - in addition to sharing a due date, my stomach is also flat flat! i know i shouldn't complain but it's just so weird not to have anything to show for all this pain - insomnia, chundering, constipation, dare I go on....tell us girls, will it just show up one day?

preggersagain · 13/09/2007 09:54

ooh, turtle- sounds grim ((hugs)), but remember all your energy is going on growing a baby so you will come down with bugs pretty easily.

we went out for a lovely meal last night, first time we've been out since finding out i was preg- there was no point to start with as i would have fallen asleep before the starter was brought out , but last night was lovely, the restuarant we go to is run by people we know so they were congratulating us and making fab alcohol-free cocktails for me all night!! Bill still came to £120 without having to pay for any drinks !! The even more cringeworthy thing is we got home just after ten, and at 20 past i was munching on cheese and wholegrain mustard (by the spoonful ) so it seems the cravings are starting to kick in.

preggersagain · 13/09/2007 09:56

oh and to those of you who have flat stomach muscles- i said goodbye to any form of flat tummy five years ago, and people are already commenting on my bump! (but i'll admit to wearing clothes which excentuate my pregnant status- at least the customers give me a bit of slack then!

HolidaysQueen · 13/09/2007 10:07

Hello pinkmartini - nice to have another person on board. And don't be shy about posting - just be like me and prattle on about anything that occurs. We'll probably join in any conversation you start anyway as we all seem to be chatterboxes!

Turtle - poor you! I've had gastroenteritis and it is miserable, but I did find that I got over it surprisingly quickly so hope this is the same for you.

I went to see the Lion King last night and now have "Can you feel the love tonight?" going round and round in my head. Does anybody know how to cure this? It is driving me slowly insane.

turtle23 · 13/09/2007 10:21

Pregnancy is such a mystery...Was in agony last night and gladly agreed not to eat for a bit. This morning I am in bed in my pajamas trying to comply...but have cracked and had a big bowl of cereal, an actimel, 3 pieces of toast, an apple, a banana..I can't stop! So hungry. Feeling a million times better for it. Hope it lasts...

Brazilianmum · 13/09/2007 10:56

On the craving thing, yesterday was Wcheesy Wotsits on the way home, but there was not one damn bag in any shops I went in. V pissed off and had to make do with crunchies, not the same thing. So just now someone offered to go out and get some snacks and I finally got my bag of lovely wotsits. Tastes like the best thing ever.

FitnForty your midwife sounds nicer than mine. I don't think they communicate very well at Lewisham Hospital and unfortunately I will see a different MW every time so no continuity.

Also only realised yesterday that my 20wk scan is my last. Wish I had the means to have a private scan every month to see how baby is growing.

We are going to have a 3d scan in December or early Jan. Some of the pictures look amazing. And it will bridge the gap between the 20wk scan and birth.

HolidaysQueen · 13/09/2007 11:46

Brazilianmum - I love the fact that even though you are Brazilian you have clearly become so anglicised that you crave Cheesy Wotsits!!!

Turtle - glad you are feeling better after that food. A big breakfast sounds like a much more sensible plan than starving yourself!

Brazilianmum · 13/09/2007 11:49

I have been here 12 years and I guess I like the best of both. Some days I have Brazilian cravings so I stop by Guanabara on the way home for some Brazilian unhealthy snacks and some days it's all very English with muffins and crumpets and cheesy wotsits.

c4it · 13/09/2007 12:06

ummmm, crupets (has Homer Simpson moment!!!)

c4it · 13/09/2007 12:06

crumpets even

Brazilianmum · 13/09/2007 12:23

I craved crumpets in the begining with butter and cheese. Ate 5 in one go once, now I'm more into muffins with cheese spread.

gingercat12 · 13/09/2007 12:59

Hope will all feel a bit better soon. I seem to pick up all the bugs and infections, too. Our immune system only seems to care about the baby

I cannot stand choccie at the mo, so just crave for scotch eggs, crumpets, freshly baked baguettes with fish fingers or frankfurters, toad-in-the-hole, cottage pie... I could just go on and on.

The only craving I cannot satisfy as often as I'd like to is my Mom's cooking. (Her being in Hungary.) She grows all her vegetables, rears chickens and pigs, makes jams and other preservatives, makes all her pasta, and bakes fabulous cakes. It is impossible beat her food. (for me anyway) Quality ingredients with phenomenal experience. I can definitely smell some of her dishes sometimes Sorry if it sounds childish, I am very independent, but I miss them all the time.
