Can I join in too?
Due 29th May
So far boobs up a size (not big to start with and v v achey) and lots of nausea (though no actual vomiting) and v v tired.

Only my DH and a friend at work know (my friend knew we were trying and I had an early miscarriage plus she is aware of how bleugh I feel right now).

Desperate to be further down the line so we can get properly excited and tell people but only just over 8 weeks so far too soon to tell.

This pregnancy is planned and absolutely what I want. I find it difficult reading about the foetal devt stages tho because I had two terminations many years ago (one through stupidity, the other through contraceptive and morning after pill failure) I know I made the right decisions for me at the time but the guilt is still there. Each of those times I was violently ill with morning sickness all day and night and lost loads of weight. It seems odd that I'm not so ill this time so I hope all is ok.

jacobandTheMummylysette · 19/10/2007 16:36

hi everyone and welcome and congratulations everyone new.

indigo - i really feel for you - you poor thing!

goodcatholicgirl - we're due date twinnies - mine's been changed to 2 may, although i doubt very much i'll get there based on last time round...

not much else to report - only good thing for everyone who's ms is stopping around 10/11/12 weeks is that is when it's supposed to stop, so i am led to believe so although it's comforting as a symptom it's physiologically supposed to stop then? something to do with hormones finally regulating themselves... saying that i got no sickness last time round at all and really suffered for a shortish period this time.

also our heartbeat was steady at 150 (i think) which i thought was fast but maybe isn't?

the chinese predictor says we're having a girl - new stats list if anyone wants to do it for a laugh - here www.webwomb.com/chinesechart.htm

have a great weekend everyone!

coby · 19/10/2007 17:24

Hello all, Can I join too??

My third monster is due 18th May 2008, we already have two DDs who will turn 2 and 4 two weeks before this one is due.

This pregnancy is very different from my last three (had early MC after DD2) - I don't even feel pregnant. With my DD's, as soon as I found out I was pregnant I felt bonded with them and I knew they were girls but I have no 'feeling' about this one - it's all very strange. Morning sickness and tiredness is getting me down and I'm pretty miserable in general for some reason.

Well, that was a cheery first post wasn't it?

Hoping to get that 'mummy-to-be feeling soon'. Congratulations to all expectant mummy's.

ShellySara · 19/10/2007 19:01

Hi all, and welcome to our new bods!

Well, I had my 12 week scan yesterday (private, cause the NHS here doesnt do the NT testing stuff) and everything was perfect!

Baby Dot was having a snooze facing down, and the doc wanted him turning over so had to jump up and down for a bit and then had tummy wobbled a lot - and you could tell he didnt want to be woken up as he promptly started wriggling all over the place and got hiccups!

Doc put a picture of him up in 3D and I am very embarrased to say that I proclaimed "He looks like a demon child from hell!" at which the doctor and sonographer fell about pissing themselves laughing! He had got his little arms up over his head and they looked like horns.

Heard Baby Dots heartbeat too! It was all very exciting!!!

Well girlies, hope your scans all go well too. Make sure you give us all an update soon!!

Ok, off to start packing for a new contract that starts on Monday morning - so used to sleeping in for the past while, I aint looking forward to getting up in the early hours of the morning at all!

Have a nice weekend.

Take care all

Shelly

Hello to everyone who has just jouined. Haven't been on-line for a couple of days so great to see so many additions to May 2008.

Everyone seems really upbeat the last few days

Cody - I know how you feel, my sickness seems to be kicking in properly now and emotions up and down like a yoyo.

mrsstresshead - I am sure you're friend is glad of your experience - I can't wait to tell my friends who have already been here !

Had 1st midwife appt this week - bit of an anti-climax really as mainly filling out forms. Should have scan in couple of weeks. Great to hear all the good news from everyone's scans. Really made me smile.

Anyway - 8:30 - these days that is way passed the time that I should be in bed. I don't know how those of you with lo's already cope. I can hardly get through a day at work !!

Hayleyandbaby · 20/10/2007 18:04

Hello to newcomers, congratulations!
Thanks Mitchell81. I'm so glad my new date isn't unlucky 13 and is the 11th.

Congrats to everyone who has had successful scans. We still havn't stopped talking about ours. I didn't know babies moved around as early as ten weeks, and we nearly had a heart attack when the sonographer made an 'urgh' noise as we thought the worst had happened, but it turned out my bladder just wasn't full and she couldn't see anything at first. Talk about alarming haha. It's made everything very real tho and we're starting buying things from this point on.

Anyone who is worried about starting maternity clothes- I already have! Everything was tight and I couldn't see the point of buying new clothes and then buying maternity next month, so I just got them. I love them. It reminds me all the time that I'm pregnant

Hope everyone is on cloud nine like me at the moment. Lots of Luck to all.

bobsmum · 20/10/2007 19:38

Had scan yesterday and got to see my wonderful wriggly and fidgety baby!! Rubbish photo compared to the amazing clarity of on screen - way better than my other 2 pgs.

BUT - my due date (which they take from the scan and not from my LMP) is now 25th April! So I'm not due in May anymore!! But as I still might have baby in May I'll stick around here if that's ok! So I'm 13 weeks and not 12 - no wonder I'm so FAT . THe books go on about your "waist thickening" at this time - they're not kidding!

The only downside is that despite dd being a VBAC last time, I still have to have constant monitoring this time round too - I thought I'd proved I could have a normal delivery, but there's still a miniscule chnace of scar rupture, so they have to monitor me - so I can't move basically. I'm not happy and will do my homework on this one before they keep me on the bed again

But on a positive note, they now give all mums who've had a section in the past another scan at 30 weeks - yay!!

Coby, Are those the correct ages for your DD's?

coby · 20/10/2007 21:09

Hello! Yes those are the right ages.

coby · 20/10/2007 21:14

.....although, I suppose for accuracy it could be DD1 3.5, DD2 18 months (took me 5 mins to work out exactly how old they were...oh dear )

Hope everyone's feeling fine today, well that is if you discount morning sickness, sore boobs and everything else! I am finding myself stupidly emotional at the littlest things, but in a weird way it's actually enjoyable to for example watch something really sappy on TV and blub; it's quite a release, although alarming for my husband!

Good luck to those with scans this week. I have to wait til a week on Wednesday, which seems forever..I guess it will go quickly though.

Sorry, just babbling on now, but don't have any real news! Hope some of you will be around later

Pazza · 22/10/2007 07:44

Hello

Just joined Mumsnet ... it's amazing!

I'm expecting twins, EDD May 22nd 08 - please can I join the list?

Anyone else in Hackney/Clapton/Stoke Newington due around same time?

I'm expecting for first time and it's all a bit daunting, books are kinda 50% reassuring and 50% omigod scary, but feeling much better about whole thing since finding Mumsnet. Just great to know there are people to talk to who've seen it / done it all before or at same stage as me. So, hello!

Quick question ... at what point should I stop worrying about miscarrying and start properly planning ahead and enjoying it?

Bit o' background ... been trying for three years before first pregnancy ended in miscarriage in May this year at 6-7 weeks. It never really got going apparently there was a just a sad little empty sac on the scan. Tried again 2 months later, found out I was pg again YAY but started bleeding a week later on the Tube so went to EPAU in tears expecting a re-run ... but there were two this time with little heartbeats!!! Totally stunned.

Still trying not to get too excited until 12 week scan ... but then I think maybe I should just not worry and enjoy it, you could 'not get excited' till 18 weeks scan, till they're out, till they're in school, till they have a good job and a nice partner and kids of their own etc etc etc ... what do you guys think?

There's a beautiful sunrise out my window by the way.

Pazza xxx

Mitchell81 · 22/10/2007 09:07

Congrats Pazza and welcome, twins thats exciting. I don't think you ever stop worrying as you say, every hurdle brings some anxiety. I have my scan on wed, very excited to see lo for the first time. Good luck with everyone else who is having scans this week.

sweetbean · 22/10/2007 09:41

Sorry to gate crash your thread im my edd is 24th may (but this is still to be confirmed by a scan) so im 9wks + 3dys

i just wanted to ask Does anyone else have crippling morning sickness i can even bare the thought of food most thing i eat make me throw up and i even feel sick if a wake up in the night to go for a wee.Its non stop and my finding it so wareing i just want to sleep all day and have no motivation for ANYTHING is this normal because it really getting me down

This is my second pregnacy i have a dd how is 2.8 months and i had a lovely pregnacy with her!!

Some days i just feel so low all i want to do is cry and cry and cry i also feel like a terrible mother as i have no enery foe my DD!!

sorry to ramble on thanks xx

Mitchell81 · 22/10/2007 10:07

Yes I feel the same, perfectly normal, it should start getting better from 12 weeks, when the tiredness disappears.

coby · 22/10/2007 14:16

Hi Sweetbean, I feel the same too. I had morning sickness with my other two for quite a while but this is something else, I feel totally drained by it all and very fed up. By the mid afternoon I put DD2 (18 months)in her cot (even though she doesn't need a sleep) and DD1 (3.5) goes in front of a video for an hour or so. Not my idea of fantastic parenting but I am too tired to do anything else.

It is just a phase and it will get easier. It's a viscous cycle and the tiredness makes it worse, once you are past 12 weeks and get some more energy it will be easier to break - honest

jacobandTheMummylysette · 22/10/2007 16:24

hi sweetbean - totally normal! past 12 weeks sickness normally passes as everyone has said and you do feel less shattered ALL the time - a lot of people find ms is worse when you are tired - i certainly did.

we're now 12 and a half weeks and i am feeling soooo much better! also in maternity gear now and bought a couple of pairs of jeans today. last time i bought barely anything and looked dreadful all the way through. so this time i'm pampering myself a little bit and getting some decent gear so i feel a bit better! how sad is that???

pazza - twins how exciting - and your story brought tears of joy to my eyes! hormonal i know but still it's great. normally most books and docs etc say after 12 weeks you can worry a little less about mc, but you never really stop worrying till they're there! and then it's a whole different kind of worrying iyswim???

how is everyone else doing?

xxx

IndigoBlue · 22/10/2007 16:58

Hi everyone

Welcome to the newcomers, Pazza - how exciting having twins! Like the others have said 12 weeks is a major milestone and if everything is ok at the 12 week scan you can stop worrying a bit and enjoy telling people your news if you haven't already.

After several phone calls I'm no longer "lost" in the hospital system and my scan has been arranged for a week today so I'm looking forward to that.

Dh has been away for 5 days on holiday with his friends so I'm looking forward to him arriving back later today. Nausea seems to be easing a bit now as I'm nearly 12 weeks so I'm pleased about that.

Hope everyone else is doing ok.

YellowFlower · 22/10/2007 17:43

Can I join too please? I?m expecting my first in early may (3rd according to the internet), - a few years earlier than expected and I?m scared and excited in equal measures.
We haven?t told anyone yet, except dp?s mum - my sister just had twins (this morning!) and I?m giving my family chance to get used to them first.
I?ve been reading some of the other posts and it makes me feel a bit more normal ? I?m really nauseous, achy and tired all the time, but am not actually sick that often, and I get occasional tummy aches.
I think dp is feeling a bit left out as all I seem to do is eat or sleep, he dreamt he had to carry the baby for half the pregnancy and then I took over for the last bit - have to admit it did make me laugh - the way I?ve been feeling I wouldn?t mind if he took a turn!

podglet · 22/10/2007 20:44

Hi all,

Yellowflower - your my due date twin! It's great to be past the 12 week point isn't it?! Congrats on being an auntie to twins - how lovely.

Pazza - what a moving ttc story - I nosied at your profile and can I just say YAY to Johnny Cash - I love him

Apart from my horrible achey joints, I still have no symptoms - sorry! Will stop being smug now....

ok, off to lie on the sofa with DP, I give it 5 mins before I'm asleep

Mumso2Be · 23/10/2007 09:17

Hi Pazza - thanks for the lovely story - made me fill up too (or is that just the hormones?!!)

Sweetbean - I'm so sorry you feel so yukky - I thought I was bad but you sound dreadful. Try not to add guilt to the pile, you've done nothing wrong! Can you get some extra help with your DD? Take any thats offered!

I managed to get to yoga yesterday for the first time in a couple of months - still felt sick but somehow more peacefully sick!

Also have bought maternity dress on ebay which arrived this morning so looking forward to getting out of my Waynetta tracksuit bottoms, may even wash my hair too!!

Have a good day every one and good luck with scans today, I have mine on Friday, counting the hours... xxxx
