Just thought I'd get the shiny new thread up and running. Well done Twit on the thread name

kyala · 05/09/2007 12:49

Oh Sophus, I feel for you, am still a week away but want LO out now (have been saying it for about 6 weeks now so you get the picture!)

Just think though, when you have your's everyone else's will be a bit older so you'll get all the attention!
x

kinki · 05/09/2007 13:12

Hopey, I'm so glad you've got your date in the private hospital. When I was in I was given a side room ( they let me have it because I'm staff) and it made all the difference. Normally I'm quite sociable and would have been happy to mix in the 6-bed bay, but having the private room was great for when ds1&2 visited. It meant I wasn't quite so stressed about their noise and excitement levels. Also the staff weren't quite so strict on visiting times if I kept the door shut and noise down. Hopefully it will be just as good for you.

Dal, well done for getting this far. You must be so thrilled that the end is in sight. Just a couple more days to go. Wishing you and your family all the very best for friday.

Penny, sorry you're feeling a bit down. When my waters broke, they said things happen for most ladies within 4 days. Hopefully it'll be sooner rather than later for you. Chin up, and all the best.

Good luck fio, I wonder if its happening right now. Guess you might be getting on top of that denial thing now!?

Canadianmum, good luck to your little boys starting school. How exciting for them. I'm sure they'll have a great time. I remember my first day at school and the best bit was having my twin brother with me.

Congratulations Loopy and welcome little Katie. Its nice to hear you could have Katie on you while they finished the op. I couldn't hold Liam, because of my chest problems and the amount of patching up they had to do with me. Instead I asked that dh go back to the delivery ward with him and give him skin to skin instead. I was about another hour in theatre, but they got me back as soon as poss, and there was dh with his shirt off giving him a lovely cuddle. I'd definately recommend that for anyone else if you can't get to do skin to skin straight away. Btw, as soon as I was there dh put Liam on my chest and he started looking for my boob straight away (ds, not dh!), it was like he knew I was the one for milk not dh. Its so amazing that these babies know just what to do. Good luck with the feeding Loopy, it sounds like you're doing a fab job. Definately agree with you how tiring it is in the early days.

Mrs F, about driving after a cs - its only some insurers that don't let you drive. With my previous cs's I was allowed to drive 'when my doctor says I'm fit enough to drive'. So I got my doctor to say I'm fit enough and that was that. I haven't checked with my present insurer, but will be doing so in the next day or so - will let you know how I get on.

Kyala, hmm, leather, what about a wallet, belt maybe (if you're not opposed to animal goods that is). Or glass, what about some bottles of real ales? Good luck finding something.

Hi to everyone else!

MrsBumblebee · 05/09/2007 14:08

Kyala, we do the traditional anniversary presents as well, and our leather one was in July. I got dh a belt and he got me a new filofax thingy. A bit dull, but, like you, we decided that anything kinkier was probably a bad idea given that I was about 30 weeks pregnant at the time .

ccpink · 05/09/2007 14:12

kinki
I'm very impressed/shocked that you are back and seemingly sane!
Dal - good luck. I can understand your panic at the sudden change of dates - we have been thinking about how long left for so long it is bound to be a shock.
Are anyone else's boobs hurting quite a lot now. Mine are sore in bed even?! Still feels like ages off for me - just less than three weeks -dh has to go away for two nights next week which does worry me a bit though!! He reckons he can get back quick if he has to but still! Maybe it's irrational panic.
The decorator ran out of paper - typical - so he is coming back tomorrow. I am seriously wiped out but have finished work now so relieved. Need to go food shopping but lacking motivation. Some days I feel by the time I'm up and dressed and hair washed - I'm ready for nap!!! Hopefully will be a little bit more alive tomorrow - hugs to all
ps - hi to lizziemum - hope you're feeling okay - I have a feeling I might crash October at the end

Hopeitwontbebig · 05/09/2007 14:27

Afternoon all.

It's my wedding anniversary today!!!!!!!!!

9 years. What's that one then? DVD? Will that do . Must admit with everything that's been going on lately it's been kind of pushed into the background. DH thought he was in SO MUCH trouble earlier when I texted him 'do you know what day it is?' He felt somewhat redeemed when I told him that I'd forgotten this morning too We were only talking about our anniversary a couple of weeks ago and how we should go to London and see a show then stay in a hotel. But I guess because of the section, didn't feel like we could ask family members to have the boys so close to the baby date. DH said we'll do something really special next year - 10th.

Hope fio and pennypops are ok.

kinki like you, I'm quite sociable but reeeeeeeeally want to be on my own after having bub, just so that I don't feel obliged to make conversation with people if I'm knackered/in pain. Glad you're doing well, and will be driving soon YAY!

Hugs to everyone x x

Norfolkbumpkin · 05/09/2007 14:56

Well I am 40+1 today and seriously cheesed off with waiting! I have just been for my 40wk check up at midwife's clinic and she wouldn't entertain the idea of doing a sweep today, said she would rather give me more of a chance to go into labour naturally. However she will ask the midwife who will be checking me again on Sunday on my home visit to book me in for an induction if nothing has happened by then. Oh please, please let it be before then........Feel a bit flustered now I am back home again, have just scoffed a third of a packet of biscuits whilst typing this

Tinkjon · 05/09/2007 15:08

MrsFish, aha gotcha - yes, what a nightmare prospect about not being able to get children to nursery! Will you have dp around much to help?

Holly29 · 05/09/2007 16:05

Hopey,

Happy Anniversary! Totally fine to forget when you have so much more on the brain...xx

EmLouT · 05/09/2007 16:09

ccpink - my boobs hurt too - I am really scared about bf because they have been painful all the way through this pregnancy. Hopefully they will settle down soon!

Sorry just to post about boobs but I don't have much more to say

Chattyhan · 05/09/2007 16:11

Hello - just back from Reading shopping and DS was a good boy which made it all the better!

Sophus my 4 pregnant RL friends have all had their babies at least 4 weeks now and i'm the only one left! i do agree with kyala it'll be nice to have the youngest of the group

LoopylouLisa - nice to hear you're doing well!

Norfolkbumpkin - sorry your due date has passed you by! hope things happen soon

Well DP has just got a promotion!!!! Really pleased as his job has been getting him down lately. The hours are less and he won't have to deal with angry customers as it's quality control rather than service. He also won't have to work saturdays anymore and will get a payrise of £3000 a year! So delighted all round

thomcat · 05/09/2007 16:31

I'm TeeCee btw, went back to being Thomcat, in case you wonder who the hell I am. Have been massivley slack in posting on these threads.

TeeCee / Thomcat - 35yrs, London, 23 Sept - 3rd pregnancy, DD1 5 yrs (has Down's syndrome) DD2 13 months, surprise

So - Fio went in today and we should have news soon.
Any other news?

I've got 3 weeks or so yet so need to be knowing other people happy news.

kyala · 05/09/2007 16:53

On the anniversary subject:
Hmm yes, a belt might be an idea as he's (meant to be) losing weight and the bottles of beer would go down well too (he got some beers a little while back form his brother, think it might've been for his birthday)
Thought I might also be able to get away with something in Quartz if all else fails, not that he ever pays any attention to the crystals I give him, I think his last crystal present is on my dresser

Hopey: Happy anniversary hope we get to our 9th! LOL I'm sure a DVD will be lovely, I find it really hard trying to think of something to get the guy who never wants a present in the first place!

Chatty: Congrats to your DP, that's great news

On the boobs subject, ahem! I've not had any signals as yet, but then again, didn't have nay the first time round either, didn't even know when my milk had come in my body's just weird!

Yay! Glad to hear it Thomcat, you've cheered me up something rotten now, I've got one week left and, with all the CS's due this week, I thought I'd be the last one left! Also, I think my LO's going to be late (doctor's reckon the 12th, meaning the conception would've been the 2nd week of December, but DH and I were barely even talking then let alone conceiving! LOL Would've been around the end of the month if anything! so might have a bit of a wait still!)
I must say I totally admire you for having 3 children too! But you must get that from people all the time, people nowadays are so weak they think it's hard enough bringing up 2 children LOL I keep getting told I'm crazy (or I get "So are you having more after this one?" with a rather strange reaction when I tell them we're not planning any more, like they expect me to be having a tribe! Not sure why though ) Also, just out of pure curiosity, do you find it more difficult with your eldest having Down's?
You can ignore me if you like, I don't mind if you think I'm being just plain old nosey (Which I probably am, but I've got nothing better to do than pry into other people's business except maybe housework and who really wants to do that?!)

Anywho, am off for a bit now, finally got round to putting bits and pieces on Ebay so now just waiting for money to start rolling in LOL Yeah right!
Later all
Ky 39+1

MrsFish · 05/09/2007 18:45

hayley2u yeah, I am finding it a surprisingly good read. I only bought it because it was on offer one day. I never used to read autobiographies but I read Sharon Osbournes over Christmas and I am now hooked

Sophus - hope you don;t have to wait too much longer. I remember when I reached my due date and there was no sign of ds I was so deflated, it was such an anticlimax, I remember eing in such a bad mood too he arrived 4 days later.

kinki thanks for that info re driving, basically if you heal quickly and there are no problems you can get behind the wheel quicker... sounds good to me, I tend to heal quite quick.

To those with anniversaries... we don't celebrate ours with pressies, we just go out for a meal, far simpler

ccpink I'm having no probs with my boobs yet, not even any leakage and I am sure I did by now with ds. I am 36+3 today.

tinkjon dh is only intending to have the first week off, as he really needs to get back into work (currently nearing the end of his 10 day jolly in Northern Spain) but if needs must he will HAVE to have longer off, he is the boss after all But my mum will be able to come up for a week or so too, and MiL is only 20 mins away, so we should be able to cope

Chattyhan Congrats on Dp's promotion, sounds great

Well I have had a tough day, its been a battle of wills with ds since the moment he got up at 6.50 this morning. He has started refusing dinner that I have cooked for him, he only wants to eat toasted teacakes or crumpets, which I can't let him get away with So he was asking for lunch at 11.30 so I heated up some chicken casserole that I made last night (he usually loves it) but he refused it, so I got him down from the table and refused him everything else. Cue much crying because he was hungry, but refusing the food every time I offered it during the course of the afternoon. He finally caved in and ate it at 3.30 this afternoon, but boy those 4 hours in between were a nightmare, very draining on my patience. I suppose it hasn't helped that he hasn't had a sleep today, due to friends turning up later than expected, and knowing if I put him down he would have a good couple of hours, being grumpy if I woke him up after anything less, so perhaps only have myself to blame. He has been so tired though bless him he was asking to go to bed at 5pm, managed to hold him out till 6.20, put him down and he was asleep in less than 5 mins. I just hope he isn't up at the crack of dawn tomorrow now

Spoke to DH and he got his dates wrong on when he was coming home, he told me it would be late sunday, but he will actually be home Saturday evening which is great

Well I had better go get something to eat, managed to miss lunch through timings of visitors etc..... after this Braxton Hicks episode though... breathe....

dal21 · 05/09/2007 19:09

Hello everyone! so was anyone pennypops/ fio's text buddies? any news?

Thanks all for your thoughts and best wishes. Am starting to have weird mixes of emotions. The LO was very active on the CTG today - so was outta there quickly.

Sorry - I did read all the posts, but nothing is sticking! Hope everyone is ok.

Will update the stats with Hollys cs date.

Hello everyone, just a message to let you know there's one more to add the arrivals lounge! Oriana Liberty arrived after an 8 1/4 hr labour, helped along very nicely with gas and air and pethidine on Monday 3rd September at 8.49am. She was one day over her due date and weighed in at 7lbs 12oz.

Am currently exhausted after a nights stay in hospital but elated as she's just as gorgeous as her big sis! DP is so in love with his ever growing brood, now he's got his 2 daughters. Think we'll stop there for a bit!

Hope everyone is well - who's next? xxxx

Congratulations Trinity! Another little girl! Lovely names.

Hope I'm not being too insensitive to all of you waiting patiently for your babies, but for a short time only, here are some photos of little Liam.

Congratulations to all the mums welcome to the new babies!
Can't believe I have missed so much by not having internet access for a couple of weeks - loads of babies and I have missed almost an entire thread! our move went fine and at last we are connected to the outside world again!

I had some bleeding on Sunday night and so was back in hospital for the night, luckily everything was fine but just to make sure they decided to do a scan to check on the placenta and that has left me with a bit of a dilemma...
DH and I have both been sure all the way through that we didn't want to know if we're having a boy or girl and to have the surprise on the day, but I am pretty sure that at the scan I caught a glimpse of some strong evidence which would remove that element of surprise!! Should I tell him I know or leave him in ignorance so at least he has a surprise?? I am in a bit of a dither about it as I really didn't want to know but then feel like I am holding out on him by not saying anything??! argh!

I would keep it quiet, after all you are not 100% sure
