Hi everyone - hope you all had a good day !

Thanks for all your positive msgs re Eloise and her lack of weight gain - its so nice to get some support from my "internet ladies". Well the good news is that I had a really lovely MW visiting today who was much more laid back about the whole thing ! Eloise has put on weight since Sunday's fiasco (5 hours in the hospital !)and she said she'll come back on Monday to check how we are doing then. Feeling alot better !

glad and excited for you Dal and HIWBB that your c sections are all booked now . Can't believe your Consultant Hopey was so inflexible ! Don't forget to pack some BIG knickers as the scar is right on the bikini line ! I also didn't realise about nail varnish so had to get MW to take off my lovely sparkly blue toe nails ! I was allowed to take my CD into theatre too. And the MW's afterwards were really lovely and put Eloise skin to skin and helped me to feed her !

good luck to everyone else !

FlossALump · 04/09/2007 19:58

Fio - good luck for tomorrow! Can't wait to hear back from you.

Chattyhan - I'm a bit behind with Ds's age, his b'day is the 8th Nov, which makes him 2yrs 10 months doesn't it?? But very similar in age!

Canadianmum, lets just not think that far ahead eh?? I recently met a mum on a bus with a DS a little older than mine, trying to get him off in an orderly manner. She looked at me and said 'After 3 girls I really know this one is a boy!' So I am hoping, for my sanity, that a) she was speaking the truth and b) that the sonographer was speaking the truth!!

Uneventful day here. DP now 4 hrs late home from work which meant I had to collect DS from nursery, which is an hr round trip. Someone will be very grumpy when he gets home! I have a new multitude of stretch marks low down on my bump which are similar to ones I got with DS a few days before I gave birth to him. Worse this time though. Ah well. Bikinis have been out for me for some time!

Oh, found out Dp's parents are going away the day after my due date. They really don't give a toss. Ah well. Its a reason to hold on to baby for a while longer to delay meeting them!!

Anyone else looking forward to pate and champagne (or, well cava in our case! - all does the same job!). Hopefully not too long now.

Hopeitwontbebig · 04/09/2007 20:11

FioFio and Twit, where have you been? We thought you'd popped already . Good luck vibes for FioFio for tomorrow. Have you got a text buddy or some way of letting us know how you get on?

Pennypops, hope things go smoothly for you, just think, you're going to meet your baby really soon ((hugs))

Floss sorry to hear your DP is so late, is he stuck in traffic or something?

Amyclaramum, so glad Eloise is doing well. It's all quite surreal actually knowing my baby's birthday in advance! I went to Matalan yesterday and bought 10 pairs of big loose granny knickers!

Canadianmum, thank you so much for your reassuring words regarding cs. I will use your words like a mantra over the next week or so!!

OP posts:
FlossALump · 04/09/2007 20:18

Nope, someone has been very naughty and is in trouble! He's been dealing with it since 8 this morning. He'll have no trouble with the traffic at this time of night.

LoopyLouLisa · 04/09/2007 20:53

hi all,

haven't had time to read the thread as there's quite a few days to catch up on. congratulations to everyone else who's popped and welcome to all the new babies.

what a weekend! went in friday at 7.30am for cs and after what felt like a mammoth wait they called me into theatre just after 12. i had an emergency cs before and that was quite stressful, but this was something else. it was so relaxed and all the medics were so friendly. they did their best to distract me from what was going on right up until the moment before the baby was pulled out. they showed me her straight away and put her onto my chest while the finished up. it took a while to get back on a ward as my bp and lo's temp were too low but we did get our own room!

came home last night. we're doing ok i think except a couple of tiny re-openings on my wound. i had this last time too caused by the stitches dissolving a bit too quickly. with ds1 i opened again in 5 places and it was quite bad but touch wood these really are tiny and so far they haven't got any bigger but i'll just have to keep my fingers crossed.

after a day and a half of trying to get baby to ff, we had to change to bf as she absolutely hates the bottle. i was set on ff as i had a traumatic time with ds1 trying to bf but lo has really taken to it and is rarely off me! it's making me extremely tired but i just have to stick with it for the meantime.

thank you for all your messages. hope you are all well and i'll post again as soon as i get chance

LLL xx

dal21 · 04/09/2007 21:03

Fio - will be thinking of you tomorrow also. I bet it does feel totally surreal! I keep imagining how i will feel thurs night by this time, and I just have no idea! try and get a good nights sleep, easier said than done I am sure. But do try.

PennyPops - sending lots of birthing vibes your way. Hope you get the delivery you want and minimal intervention! Fingers and toes.

Fio/ Penny - do you have text buddies who will be able to update us?

Everyone else - thank you for your kind and reassuring words, they really do mean a lot!

Amyclaramum and loopy - lovely to hear from you both!

Hope everyone else is ok!

Holly29 · 04/09/2007 21:30

Hello, just a quick update from me - to say that my little one is still breech and they have said that barring a miracle he will not turn now, given the position he is in... I am booked in to have a section on Thursday 20th. Could someone update the stats for me?

xx

Tinkjon · 04/09/2007 22:23

FioFio, lots of luck to you for tomorrow - looking forward to hearing the news! Pennypops, fingers crossed for you too.

Hope, so glad you managed to get your section date moved forward - I'm not at all jealous, oh no

Floss, I'm with you on looking forward to the Cava - I got some delivered from the nice Tesco man this morning in fact

MrsMar, I don't think that a day or two will make a difference at this stage. My consultant was actually quite happy to do me at 38+6, as he said the extra day would make no difference at all - but in the end the bloomin' place was fully booked and I can't get in until 39+2, sulk sulk It felt very odd flicking through Heat Magazine this morning and seeing the TV page for the day of my (and your!) c-section... seems really close now that the TV schedules are actually out!

kyala · 04/09/2007 22:41

Hello my lovelies,
Hope you're all doing well! Have had a quick look through the posts but I think I'm way behind now LOL so will do my best, as promised!

Congratulations to Kerri, ECATLM and PLP

Holly: Sorry to hear LO is, and is staying, breech Bummer

Dal: Wow! You're having your LO on Friday?! That's so cool, you must be really excited! All this queue jumping is making me very though, am now totally convinced that mine isn't coming on time, or even this month, my new prediction is sometime next year!!

Mrsmar: Sorry to hear about your lacking sex life, I know how you feel not that my DH would say no given half a chance but my hips are back to playing up again (every blooming time I get in the mood they kick off! )
Thanks for reminding me just how long we've been pregnant, and you're right it is crazy that we've been pregnant all year!

Willjo: Thanks for the vibes, don't think they're quite reaching this far though Blooming baby is taking after it's father I reckon, selective hearing!!

Hayley: Glad you're looking good again, but don't you steal my day!! LOL

amyclaramum: Glad to hear things are going well for you and LO, and good to hear there are some nice MW's in the world, send them my way please

Loopyloulisa: Had to cringe at the thought of wounds opening up, sounds painful but I guess it's all part of the healing process! Would've thought they'd make stitches a little more durable in this day and age though?! Glad you managed to get a minute to post though, lucky you, I'm expecting this LO to keep me going until next Xmas once it's born LOL

Oh well, that's all folks (for now)
Have had a couple of niggles this evening but nothing really going on in there Although it has got a bit tighter in therem hoping that's a sign that LO has moved down rather than got any bigger!
Anywho, have a good night all, am still getting some good sleep on my bed but it's so good am now trying to force DD to take 2 long naps during the day! BAD MUMMY! BAD MUMMY!
Night night ladies, have a good one
xxx

MrsMar · 04/09/2007 23:03

Good luck for tomorrow Fio! It must be surreal for you, I hope you can sleep ok tonight!

amyclaramum - glad Eloise is gaining weight and thriving! Thanks for the big pants tip, I've bought a pack of gigantic belly warmers from M&S, will be so happy to ditch them as soon as I don't need them!

LoopyLou - thanks for such a positive post about your cs, it's fantastic to hear you had such a great experience. I hope your wound reopenings remain tiny and the bf is going well, it's fantastic that you've had a much better experience this time than last time, long may it continue

Tinkjon - that does sound a bit wierd. It's (in a pretty remote way) a bit like when you see tv schedules in the paper when you're going away on holiday or something and you think "oh I won't be here then, wonder what I'll be doing"!!! On a slightly surreal note I was going through the fridge checking sell by dates the other day. I found some yoghurts that had an expiry date of 15th September and my first thought was "I'll be a mum by then" (then it was, I'd better eat those now )

I'm off for another uncomfortable night of tossing and turning on sore hips !!! Night night everyone, i hope you all sleep well!

xx

MrsFish · 05/09/2007 07:02

Good MOrning all  am shattered but woke up at 5.30 and couldn't stop thinking about cs, and whether I may need one or not, and if I do, what needs to be done to be prepared for it, especially afterwards, and how a vb would be so much better because of ds but if I have no choice how to cope with not being able to drive for so long etc etc etc... tried to go back to sleep but couldn't so finally got up 20 mins ago. I reckon with waking up three times during the night, and not going to sleep till nearly 12 (reading Gary Barlows autobiography) I have had about 4 and a half hours sleep early night for me I think.

Be back soon, ds is insistent he wants his breakfast...

Pennypops · 05/09/2007 08:49

Morning all,

Sorry to sound so whingey yesterday - feeling a lot more positive now and am looking forward to meeting my lo soon!

Well, I am just having a last mimute sort out before DH and I go to the hospital so the next you hear should hopefully be an announcment! I have asked dh to text Chattyhan - hope thats ok Chatty.

Good luck today Fio and to all those in the departures lounge over the next few days!! See you on the other side........

EmLouT · 05/09/2007 09:02

Pennypops and Fio - lots of good luck vibes for today - I will be thinking of you.

Just a flying visit to say hello to everyone. Have to go now to call environmental health about a hornets' nest outside my house.

MrsFish · 05/09/2007 09:34

Good luck Pennypops and Fio

Chattyhan · 05/09/2007 09:38

Pennypops - i look forward to hearing your news and updating everyone best of luck xx

Fiofio - hope all goes well for you!

I'm off to Reading shopping with DS! So i'll be very nearby Penny!

Will catch up properly later xx

MrsBumblebee · 05/09/2007 11:20

Hi everyone.

Best of luck to Pennypops and FioFio - sorry, probably too late for you to read this now, but I'll be thinking of you!

Congratulations LLL! Sorry FF hasn't worked out for you as yet, but to be honest it's quite reassuring to hear about a baby that takes to BF so easily, given I'm planning to try it! Hope your recovery progresses well, and look forward to hearing your updates.

Hello and good vibes to everyone else!

I can't remember if anyone is still anticipating a probable induction, but I thought I'd share a story from one of my NCT class who had her baby on Monday (nearly 2 weeks late). Induced 9am, mild-ish contractions most of day, active labour started 5.30pm, delivered 7.21pm. No pain relief, no interventions, active birth (kneeling), natural third stage. It can happen!!

Tinkjon · 05/09/2007 11:52

MrsFish, if it helps, I don't think there really is much you can do to prepare for a cs in advance - other than making sure that you have as much help at home as you possibly can for afterwards. The amount of stuff you need in hospital is more or less the same as for a v-birth (you'll probably only be in 1 day extra) and it's not like you need any extra equipment. So try not to worry about that side of things, that will all take care of itself.

kyala · 05/09/2007 11:56

I am currently rolling around on the floor laughing Gary Barlow's autobiography? MrsFish what made you want to get that?! LOL Or were/are you a Take That fan? Or was this your attempt at boring yourself to sleep?
I find the guy seriously boring, as a person, can't imagine what he'd have of interest in the book?! LOL
Oh I shouldn't be so nasty should I? but I can't help it, I'm hot sticky and bored bored bored!!

MrsBumblebee Thanks for the vote of confidence, I might actually consider an iduction of sorts then if this LO is late (considering I'm absolutely itching to go now and I've still got a week to go ) Was a bit off the idea of a sweep, let alone anything else, so you've just cheered me up thanks xxx

Good luck to all those who are going for their CS's/inductions etc today, hope all goes well and you're not too nervous, it'll be fine

Have a good day all, might pop back later just for fun

xxx

toadstool · 05/09/2007 11:57

Good luck Pennypops and FioFio! Thinking of you!
Dal, good luck with the preparation for Friday!
Congratulations LLL, nice to hear another positive story about cs.
I've read through other posts but haven't got the energy to reply (am crawling towards week 38, it feels like week 45 or something).
DD started year one yesterday, felt as I had the accident 2 weeks before her holidays started, so haven't had any chance to enjoy her summer. Then we found her PE kit squashed and completely mildewed at the bottom of the laundry basket, so became hormonal ffs!!! household falling to bits! Back to normal on that front, then.
Right, off to raid the fridge for an early lunch.

MrsFish · 05/09/2007 12:05

Kyala - I was a massive fan, in fact I am going to see them again in November Its not a bad book actually, finding out what went on in the background etc. I actually like Gary I have tried reading Robbies, but because it is isn't written by him, I struggled to get into it.

Tinkjon - I see what you are saying, it is more logistics of day to day life rather than material stuff that I have been worrying about. I have no way of getting ds to nursery 3 times a week without a car. So I need to get people sorted to help, if I have to have an emergency cs it will be more awkward to sort out at short notice.

hayley2u · 05/09/2007 12:19

i never liked gary, but boredone day i just borrwowed his book from sil, and ya know what it actually really good, well what iv read. it shows he is so talented. i was a mark owen fan at time tho lol

kyala · 05/09/2007 12:32

Mrsfish That's cool, one of my friend's was a massive fan, but we were like 11 at the time seems like a million years ago!! And now they've made a come back! I like them better now than back then but never really got into Gary (maybe it's just cos he never really seemed to have as much personality as the rest of the group and yet he was always up front singing?!)
I don't doubt that he's talented, as he wrote most of the songs (didn't he? I wasn't that hard-core LOL) but he just seemed a bit dull

Might give the book a go if it's about in the library at some point , I've never really been one for factual books (blooming hippy!! Would much rather live in fantasy world )
But I do love a good book

Mind you, saying that still haven't finished the last book I started and DH went to all the trouble of buying me some pretty good books for our 2nd anniversary too! He actually used his brain for that one (although when he asked "What am I meant to buy you that's made of paper?!" I had to laugh at him for a good couple of hours! He was probably thinking along the lines of paper underwear but then I don't think I bought him anything !)

Which reminds me, it's our 3rd anniversary at the end of this month, any ideas what to get him? What's the theme? We tend to go for the traditional thing, but if you've got any good ideas for the newer themes that'd be cool too
Bare in mind I'm bound to be totally against having, ahem, bedroom relations, so nothing sexy, nothing that even suggests that I'll be interested ever again!! LOL

Righty-ho off for a wander. . .
xxx

kyala · 05/09/2007 12:38

Oh yuck! Just found that it's Leather for the 3rd anniversary, is that right? Or Crystal/Glass for the contemporary theme, pants to that!!
I'm not giving him dead cow and as for something breakable what's the point?! LOL

And I've just realised that he actually bought me the books 2 years ago!! and I still haven't read them all (6 in total!! And they weren't huge LOL)
Can't even remember what he bought me last year for Cotton? did he actually buy me anything? Maybe he gave me money to spend on clothes? Can't remember, I probably just can't fit into them so I don't know LOL

Oh well, another wander for gift ideas. . .

sophus · 05/09/2007 12:47

due today and feeling as pregnant as ever and no signs of impending birth at all...

went to nct catch up yesterday and i was the only one left without a baby, felt like a right billy-no-mates.

we had curry last night so we were both up all night with really bad reflux, but no labour.
