Hi all,

Sending lots of calming vibes to those who are nearly there, there or have just been there! Looking forward to reading those birth announcements. I must admit I've been pretty surprised at the amount of people who have given birth earlier than their due dates, let it be me, please let it be me too

My dh has booked a special 30th B'day treat for me - we're off to Pennyhill Park hotel and Spa on Thursday for 2 whole days of mummy to be pampering - I cannot wait, I'm so excited, I just hope that my waters don't decide to break before I get there!!

I have been getting lots of irregular period pains inn the night and early morning but they seem to vanish during the day so I guess this is just my body doing the last bit of expanding and tuning up for the big event. Seeing MW tomorrow so I'm hoping she cn tell me lo is growing.

love to mummies and bumps

EmLouT · 04/09/2007 16:45

Mrs Mar - I am with you on the DH refusing any bedroom activity - mine thinks the baby will see or get hurt or something and no matter how much I try and convince him that it will help the baby to come he is not having any of it.

Dal - wow it's amazing that they have brought your section forward. How are you feeling about it?

Hope everyone else is ok. Hang in there ladies!

MrsFish · 04/09/2007 16:53

Wow Dal - that's exciting, I can't believe how many early arrivals there are. I still can't quite believe I am going to have this baby. He was doing some wriggling last night and now my bump feels all soft, so not sure what position he is in now. I guess I will find out on thursday.

EdieMcredie · 04/09/2007 17:02

Hopey-is your prediction also 9lbs then?

Sophus-Yes I thought about that but think that involves mainly itching on feet and hands (I hope).

Been having some pretty intense pains today and last night but they are pretty erractic. They bloody take my breath away though and I am in and out of the loo like a yo-yo (sorry I keep going all tmi)

xx

Norfolkbumpkin · 04/09/2007 17:07

My due date is today and nothing is happening so far(doh!). I have got my next appt. with the midwife tomorrow. The midwife who checked my bp etc on my home visit over the weekend said that they could offer a membrane sweep once I go over the due date. I am wondering if this is simething the midwife might be able to do at the clinic tomorrow. Has anyone had a sweep before? Is it a quick procedure or a bit of a faff?

EdieMcredie · 04/09/2007 17:11

NorfolkBumpkin-I have never had a sweep but from what I have heard it's pretty simple. Don't think it's always very sucessful but def worth a go I would say. They should be able to do it when you see your MW.

hayley2u · 04/09/2007 17:13

hi all
been in hospital yet again, went n sunday out today. bloody nightmare really to be honest high blood pressure, but back on mend now.
hope everyone is good. my c section is 12 th september,

Norfolkbumpkin · 04/09/2007 17:21

I think I will ask at the appt. if it can be done. Not sure if midwife will think I am being a bit keen asking for a sweep only one day after due date, but I am getting tired and fed up and very jealous of the popping corks gradually building up on the list!

MrsMar · 04/09/2007 17:35

cor Dal!! How exciting! I hope you're not too nervous or disappointed that you're definitely having a cs! Statistically about a quarter of us will, so at least we'll be able to complain about our sore scars with someone else

Norfolkbumpkin - I hope things get moving soon. Baby birthing vibes to all those waiting!!

QC sounds amazing, I'm quite !! I'm very happy with St George's thus far, but I'm loving the sound of QC too. A bit too close to my office though, would give everyone an excuse to pop in and I'd endlessly be having to get up and sort out my shocking hair!!!

MrsMar · 04/09/2007 17:36

sorry hayley, forgot to say about the blood pressure. I bet the 12th can't come soon enough for you!

dal21 · 04/09/2007 17:46

Willjo - I LURVE pennyhill park. when i used to live SW london, it would be a real treat to go there. Now am NW - it is just too much of a trek. Have a fab time!!!

EmLou - TBH, I am mainly relieved. Hugely relieved that a decision has been made as to the nature of delivery and also relieved that they are going to deliver the baby as opposed to my continuing to need to have a 'heightened' awareness of fetal movement. Because the more aware I am, the more stressed I am, the more stressed I am, the less the baby moves and it is just one long vicious cycle. Now I just want it to play nicely for the next 2 days and go according to plan.

Norfolk - good luck tomorrow at your appt, and with the sweep. am sure mw will happily do it for you.

Hayley2U - glad to hear that things are better. Rest up lots.

Kelm - I am in the next 2 days, so let me know if you are around, may see you in there!

Birthing vibes to all that need them!

dal21 · 04/09/2007 17:51

MrsM - xposts. Nope, not disappointed at all. It obviously is not what I had planned, but am staying focussed on the fact that this is the best for the baby. I just want everything to go well - that is the most important part.
I am a little nervous, but I think I'd feel that way whatever lay ahead of me! How are you feeling about yours?

Pennypops · 04/09/2007 18:47

Hi girls,

Just checking in - congratulations to all those who have popped of late!! All fabulous news.

Good luck also to those with sections/indictions booked in the next few days.

My update - waters went early hours of Monday morning but no sign of a baby yet! If I haven't produced by lunchtime tomorrow its an obstetric lead birth for me which, I have to say, scares the crap out of me. DH has been lovely and we've tried all the usual stuff to get things going but I can't help but feel a bit down.

Hope you are all feeling more positive than I am!! Love to all xxxx

MrsMar · 04/09/2007 18:55

pennypops - I hope things get moving soon and you don't have to have too many docs interfering in your birth plans!

Dal - I'm so glad you're feeling so positive about your cs. Like you I feel it's the best thing for the baby so there's no choice. I would rather a healthy baby than anything else. I'm feeling pretty positive now, I just can't wait for next thursday. I really want to hold my baby and see what he looks like... has he got dh's nose (hope so, cute little nose he has too!) my eyes (hmm not so great, shortsighted!) dh's feet (definitely hope not, horrible hobbit feet!!) All the excitement definitely outweighs any qualms I might have about having an operation to have him!

Good Luck for tomorrow FioFio, will be waiting to hear the news

TwitmonstEr · 04/09/2007 19:31

just dashing through, will catch up tomorrow hopefully, still in one piece.
I hope everyone is ok, YYYYYYYAAAAAAAYYYYYY to anyone who has had theirs.

canadianmum · 04/09/2007 19:41

Good luck fiofio, hope all goes well!

Congratulations Kerri and Niamh - wonderful news and another lovely girl.

HIWBB - just wanted to reiterate that when they say "CS is major surgery" they are comparing it to minor surgery like having a mole removed . You will be fine and wonder what you were worrying about I reckon. My boys start school on Thurs, must go and buy some more tissues.

Amyclaramum - CS definitely slowed my milk coming in, but once it did I could have opened a dairy . If I had a pound for every "baby not gaining enough weight" stories from my friends who now have beautiful bouncing babes I would be rich, try not to let the mws worry you too much.

Dal - good luck for Friday, trust me 37 weeks is not early!!! You will feel so much better for being able to see your little darling.

Emlout - have you tried a long brisk walk and some stair climbing to get things going? I am doing nothing after chatting to a friend who did EVERYTHING and her bubba was still 10 days overdue.

Welcome yetihed and lizziemum. I hope you are not with us too long lizziemum, for your sake and not ours!

Flossalump - my boys are now 4.5 but I well remember the terrible twos times two. I am really NOT looking forward to that phase again.

Twitmonster is due the same day as me, so where the heck is she? I am not going to take much more of this blatant queuejumping, we are in Britain FGS!!!!

Not much to report from my end, am having lots of BH but am focussing more on boys' first day at school on Thurs which is seriously stressing me out for some reason. Antenatal appt tomorrow so hopefully bubba has moved down a bit more, but don't want any arrival until the weekend so I can get boys semi-settled at school before another major change.
