kelmcd · 04/09/2007 12:57

i must admit did suprise myself with that one, tho i think it down to lack of sleep!Theses 2hrly toilet stops dring the night are taking their toll plus up alot of last night wih an upset stomach. DH, bless him, tried his best to be awake, in the en he said if you need me wake me and that was him, just hope he is a little more awake when this LO decides to make is appearance

Yipee D-Day, 40 weeks on the dot!!
(never thought i would get to this day, it has been a long 9 months )

Chattyhan · 04/09/2007 12:58

Thanks HIWBB - i am ok about it but still want things to get moving. It doesn't help that my RL friends all had lo early and i'm the only one still preg! even DS sighs when he says 'my little brother is still in mummy's tummy'! I feel happier about letting it happen naturally but that brings issues on what to do with DS (although have got several offers from niehbours/friends until MIL can arrive) and whether DP will be DJing and able to get away! I heard someone say if you have fears like this it prevents you going into labour so i need to get my head sorted MIL offered to have DS at the weekend again but i'm reluctant to make plans as i keep thinking things will happen! i'm sure i should just pretend the baby is never coming but i don't want too

Chattyhan · 04/09/2007 13:00

kelmcd - an upset stomach is a positive sign that things are starting! so fingers crossed!

Hopeitwontbebig · 04/09/2007 13:46

YAY, it's all booked for the 17th. All sounds very posh, I get a private room with a sofa bed that DH can stay the night on it he wants. Shame he won't be able to , other DC to consider!!

what is twitmonster's due date? cant see it on the list, has anyone heard from her?

15th, she used to be called seamonster

OP posts:
Hopeitwontbebig · 04/09/2007 13:57

I was wondering where she is too. Also FioFio seems to have disappeared. She's being looked for on another thread, I'm wondering if she's had her c-section early.

Must admit, this does all seem very surreal all the babies popping! Like you said kelmcd, it's been a LONG 9 months, and now we're at the finishing line it feels strange.

OP posts:
Chattyhan · 04/09/2007 14:09

Neither Fiofio or twitmonstEr have posted since fri so maybe things have happened early for them?

The stats thread says fiofio was due 2nd but c-section on 5th? I'm sure we'll here more birth announcements soon!

MrsMar · 04/09/2007 14:32

Afternoon everyone... first of all congratulations to PLP, ECATLM and Kerri on the new arrivals. It's so exciting!!! I hope everyone's settling in with their new LOs!!

Thanks for all the concern about my snottyness... it's slowly going, maybe it's just being pregnant, but colds never last this long with me normally!!! I'm sleeping fitfully but tons, didn't wake up til 11am today! eek! I'm trying to catch up on a lot of stuff I haven't been able to do for a week cos of the cold. Today I've got someone in cleaning all the carpets, hmmm not much fun trying to move everything off the floor. Where do I put it all? Suspend it from mid air??? The cat's not enjoying it either, she's sitting next to me on the sofa with a very hostile look on her face!!

HIWBB - I'm not too nervous about the cs... maybe it won't hit me until I get in to theatre and then I'll be blubbing like a baby! It's a shame they can't give you a pre-med or something similar to what they give you before routine surgery, those things always make me feel veeeery happy ! Try not to worry too much about the cs, everyone I've spoken to has said it's not too bad. I think those with horror stories to tell just like grandstanding. There's got to be a reason more obstetricians opt for a cs than vb, if they were that horrific they'd go for the 12 hours of grunting every time surely?

It's funny how they're obssessed about the 39 week thing though isn't it? For my cs I will be 39 weeks and one day. Does that one day make much difference at this stage?

Like you Dal I've had to do yet more shopping as now I know it's a cs.... the prospect of staying longer in hospital has meant a sudden dash to buy loads more breast pads, mat pads, pyjamas in huuuuuge sizes (so as not to irritate cs wound) and enough clothes for LO for 4 days (should have had those already but I've been a bit slack!) I'm knackered again!! So much for putting your feet up and resting before having a baby, i think that's a myth! I'm sorry things are still so up in the air for you, I hope you manage to get your ecv and the birth you want.

Sophus - I hope your mum has more good days than bad and you're coping ok with your house of animals and baby!! Good luck with all your efforts to get the baby moving. I heard the pineapple thing was to do with irritating the gut, which can trigger labour, but that could be just my midwife being wrong. she said it's the same thing with the curry thing, the hotter the curry, the more likely it is to irritate your gut which can trigger labour. In my mum's day it used to be a bottle of castor oil!! Bleurgh!!

My dh won't have sex with me, he's too scared of triggering early labour !!! I think he was paying a bit too much attention to the midwife when she said there were slightly higher risks in an emergency cs than an elective. I've tried to tell him the difference is so marginal but he won't listen! I thought we could have a lovely evening out the day before my cs, meal out, a couple of glasses of wine and a bit of ladies and gentlemen (as it may be the last chance we get before we're exhausted to our bones!) but he won't do any bedroom activity! Bah! As if it makes a difference if I started getting contractions on the morning my cs was due!

Welcome to the thread yetihed, it's never too late to join in the fun!!

Kinki - so glad you're home with Liam and he's continuing to thrive. Looking forward to seeing some pictures

Lizziemum - aw! so sorry you've been left behind by the August lot. Sending you lots of birthing vibes!!

We've finally got the cot together which is great, it makes the nursery actually look like a nursery. Now if I can only persuade dh he can't keep his golf clubs in there!!! I'm going to do some major reorganising once this carpet cleaning chap has gone!!!

I hope everyone else is well and coping with aches and pains and so on. It just struck me this morning, it's Autumn and we've been pregnant ALL YEAR!!!! I know pregnancy is a 9 month thing, but just feels bonkers to have been pregnant for the whole of 2007 so far!! Take care everyone xx

MrsMar · 04/09/2007 14:33

Gosh that took me ages to post!!! HIWBB so glad you've had your date confirmed, how lovely to have a private room. I'm going to ask for one at St Georges but not sure I'll get it!

dal21 · 04/09/2007 14:34

Hello everyone -

Hopey - dont blame you for going private - glad your csection date has been firmed up.

Sending birthing vibes to those who are absent....hope you are all doing well.

I had another eventful morning. Bub was quiet again this morning so headed into hosp early for a trace. Everything still fine, but fact that i was in again has meant that the consultant has moved my csection date forward to this friday! They want to get me to 37 weeks. Am in the next 2 days for traces. My midwife is in total agreement with him so my birth rehearsal was a walk through what will happen on Friday. I know the term 'natural' caesarean will wind some people up, but it sounds really good - it is great that they are still trying to make the best of a planned situation. So another huge mental adjustment to make, cannot quite believe it. Consent forms are signed, pre c section tablets have been given to me, cannot believe that this time in 3 days, I will be holding my baby!

Ahhhhh!!

So sorry for yet another 'me' post, am just trying to digest it all.

kelmcd · 04/09/2007 14:59

Dal21 - do you have a 1-2-1 midwife at QC?

Chattyhan · 04/09/2007 15:01

dal - wow! Thats brought things forward a lot!

dal21 · 04/09/2007 15:11

I know chatty - apologies for the queue jumping.

Kelm - no not 121 MW care but I have got 121 care with one of the consultants - he works with a few of the QC midwives and it so happens that this one has been available to see me on occasion. Most of my visits have been with my obs though. They had a great 121 MW scheme there which the govn shut down (the jentle midwifery scheme)...so dont think 121 MW care is available at QC's. But i could be wrong.

kelmcd · 04/09/2007 15:15

just curious, thats where i'm delivering aswell, have a 121 tho, its a great scheme just a pity its not there for every one

dal21 · 04/09/2007 15:19

Kelm - isnt QC fab! so are you planning to use the pool room? Thats where i was today for my run through. i waved a rather sad goodbye to the huge tub and bean bags as I headed off to the Op theatre.
The midwifes are superb there and I am so glad that this MW will be with me in the Op theatre pushing for skin to skin and helping trying to establish bfeeding asap. Of course it totally depends on if the baby is all ok. am getting excited now!

kelmcd · 04/09/2007 15:23

i am hoping to use the pool room up on the del suite so i have the option of epidural etc. It is a great hosp, was looking out for you yest on the DAU in case you were having more monitoring done

dal21 · 04/09/2007 15:27

Oh my god - I was near the DAU yesterday - was further down the corridor in the fetal care having a doppler scan - but that was at 7.45 in the morning! But it really varies where I go for the monitoring - onetime was on the delivery floor, one time on DAU and the other times on stanley clayton.

But we may have been there at the same time on other occasions. I wonder if we are dealing with the same midwife?? Is yours the one who did all the work getting the pool room set up?

Hopeitwontbebig · 04/09/2007 15:30

I was born at QC!

OP posts:
dal21 · 04/09/2007 15:33

Hopey - that must have been when it was still in chelsea. are your folks still in london?

kelmcd · 04/09/2007 15:35

No i have one of the NHS 121 midwives, they still have a small group running there. but i know who you are talking about, lovely mw. Can i ask who your cons is?

dal21 · 04/09/2007 15:43

All the midwifes there are lovely. I havent come across one who doesnt have a great and reassuring presence. My consultant is ruwan. I cannot speak highly enough of him. Have you come across him at all?

kelmcd · 04/09/2007 15:46

he's my consultant to!! he is great
