This is all getting very exciting and more real now babies are ariving and aren't just theoretical IYSWIM Well, I know what I mean anyway LOL

Congratulations Loopy and welcome to the world Katie!

I have a lovely new thing to worry about now too - DP has been told he will be working somewhere different for a week right when LO is due, and it has no mobile phone reception there. Marvellous. I can just see the whole thing turning into a giant farce of having to phone seventeen different people to try and get in contact with him, like in some bloody awful sitcom!

ccpink · 31/08/2007 18:16

loving the arrivalsnow. Still feel like mine is months away
Haven't been on much as I only seem able to moan at the mo. The il's are coming back for sat and tue night!!!AND I have the decorator in so that means I won't have a spare bed to escape to. AND i'm working Mon and Tue so will be absolutely shattered. It seems like the end of my world
Anyway, has anyone had any weird black out moments. I have astma and find if I cough a lot I blank out! It's a little bit scary as did it in the car yesterday. Think baby is too big for me to cough now!!! Only for a few seconds but really awful.
Skulking back to my hut of doom now... I'll try to return more cheery soon..

PurpleLostPrincess · 31/08/2007 18:21

I've just realised how close this lo is - we were walking (well, I was waddling!) through the hallway when I trod on something sharp (slippers don't fit anymore!). So, of course I bent over and gave out an 'oooohhh' and DH nearly hyperventilated thinking I had gone into labour bless him!!!

Now, I could be really mean and have fun with that but I haven't got the energy

dal - sorry to hear you've had a busy day but glad that lo seems to be OK. You rest up now!

CONGRATULATIONS TO LOOPY - Welcome to the world Katie!!!!! How exciting, hope you're recovering well

MrsMar - So pleased that you now know at least what is happening and when etc. I'm sure there's nothing in the date - I don't believe in superstition. Funnily enough, I was saying to DH yesterday that I don't want to have this one on 11th September because of 9/11! I know it sounds really silly but for some reason thats how I feel - can't honestly explain why!

I managed the driving in the end albeit wincing all the way! Haven't found the carpet yet but we'll keep looking.. My dad is really annoyed that I ventured out of the house and insists that I should be completely resting bless him! The kids are with their dad tonight so its just me and DH, then he's starting the wallpapering tomorrow!!!

PurpleLostPrincess · 31/08/2007 18:26

ccpink, you moan away - sounds like you've got lots on your plate and thats what we're here for! Have you mentioned these blackouts to your mw?

Everybody keeps telling me not to drive anymore but its just not physically possible for me not to - I'm the only driver in the house! Saying that, its getting physically impossible for me to get behind the wheel and reach the pedals so catch 22...

When are you planning on giving up work? Is it essential that you stay on as long as you're planning to? It's only my tuppence and I don't want to tell you what to do but it sounds like you should be at home and not at work you poor thing!

(((((((((((hugs to ccpink)))))))))))

kelmcd · 31/08/2007 18:33

Bl*dy, Bl*dy hormones. Our last whole day together before my parents, baby etc come and my DH decides he is the only one to help his cousin move house doesn't understand why i am a litlle peeved. Plus have this odd back pain, lots of BH and feeling really nauseous, just want him to be here to hold my hair over the loo (sorry if TMI) dont know aht to do with myself, feeling very weird.

Big congrats to looplou and welcome to Katie

TwitmonstEr · 31/08/2007 18:44

I've been feeling really wierd too. How strange, almost like that icky feeling at the beginning, where you're peckish but don't feel like eating.

dal21 · 31/08/2007 18:44

Goodness - feels as though all of us are going to start popping. We have probably sub consciously been willing bubs to wait til after today!

PLP - you probably shouldnt be driving...are you nearly done with your chores now?

CCPink - how much longer before you start mat leave? I would defo mention the blackouts sooner rather than later, sounds as though you should be resting.

Kelm - could they be early labour symptoms?

EmJ - at DP being away that week.

hope everyone else is ok. I am feeling morose that BB ends tonight....it has been my faithful companion most evenings...

TwitmonstEr · 31/08/2007 18:44

sorry, weird

PurpleLostPrincess · 31/08/2007 18:44

Awwww kelmcd, I don't blame you for being miffed, I know I would be!!!

My bh's have been coming thick and fast today too but I don't know if I should read into it or not!? Are yours more painful than usual?

Hope your nausea goes soon bless you (((hugs)))

emj23 · 31/08/2007 18:45

Sorry to hear you're feeling so bad kelmcd, hope you'll feel better soon.

emj23 · 31/08/2007 18:49

Thanks dal21 he won't be THAT far away or anything, only about 40 minutes from where we live, just it's a bit nerve-racking to think I might go into labour and not be able to get hold of him for ages. I'll just have to hope that LO decides to turn up either before or after he's been to work I suppose!

kelmcd · 31/08/2007 18:50

They feel a wee bit different, got that lower crampy feeling aswell. I'm not really a sicky person, didn't have any MS and have been really well throughout pg. I just dont feel right, cant put finger on it, just odd glad i'm not the only one though.

PurpleLostPrincess · 31/08/2007 18:51

Thanks dal, I'm trying to stay at home as much as possible and avoid driving but DC's go back to school next week so there's no avoiding it . My dad is going to do the afternoon run home so its only the mornings - he suffers from extremely bad arthritis so I don't want to ask him to do the morning run as I know he suffers really badly at that time of the day...

Come to think of it - I still need to get a few things

Nursing bra
Steriliser + bottles
Bouncy chair
Carpet for nursery

I guess I'd better get these in asap so I can really lock myself into the house! Yikes!

Still can't believe so many on here are having babies already - wait for meeeee!!!!

PurpleLostPrincess · 31/08/2007 18:56

Me too kelmcd - they feel different and I'm a bit crampy too!!!!

I'm afraid I'm the type to bury my head in the sand though and pretend that nothings happening until I'm doubled over... I'm sure its just being right at the end of pg and things getting ready rather than the actual thing - surely!?

Plus, I'm only 37 weeks tomorrow...

kelmcd · 31/08/2007 19:00

i hope so, as much as would love to meet LO, i'm just not ready, more mentally than any thing its just all a bit scarey, i'm gonna be a mummy

emj23 · 31/08/2007 19:01

If you find a good bouncy chair anywhere PLP, please let me know. I've looked everywhere I can think of and I can't find a nice one

PurpleLostPrincess · 31/08/2007 19:08

emj23, I've found one but we can't afford it right now as its £40!!!! It matches the moses basket I got off ebay and its in babies r us. It looks so comfortable I reckon they should make one for adults lol! Do you know what you're having as this one is a pink one - I'll see if I can find a link to it...

Yes kelmcd, much as I want to meet this lo soon, I'm just not ready for it to happen too soon. I just need at least a week then I'll be ready . Saying that, wouldn't it be so exciting!!! Aarrrggghhh, this is all too much, I don't know what to think!!

PurpleLostPrincess · 31/08/2007 19:19

Here's the link but it looks much smaller on here! (my bf has one for her lo and I'm sure its much bigger!?).

bouncy chair

hannahsaunt · 31/08/2007 19:24

Hello to all inc the babies!

PLP - wouldn't buy nursing bra until your milk has come through as you change shape and size immensly. John Lewis are fab at doing fittings and don't flich when you manage to soak the one you are trying on despite the fact that you've put a brand new breast pad in too . Luckily it was the right size and I bought it...

Just looking forward to getting through the weekend and feeling like I have a real day of mat leave come Monday. Worked until Wed night, had the dc since then, dh working roughly 9AM - 9.3pm today, tomorrow and Sunday. V glad not to be having twinges .

dal21 · 31/08/2007 19:37

Hannahsaunt - but they tell you to pack a few nursing bras in your hospital bag? and milk doesnt come in til 3-4 days after the birth. so we need to be measured now....don't we?

PurpleLostPrincess · 31/08/2007 19:39

I was thinking of getting it as late as possible but you're right about milk coming in etc. My boobs haven't grown that much at all in this pg but they did with DS and DD1 and then I got mahousive when I was bf'ing them. I reckon it'll all happen when my milk comes through with this one...

Congratulations to LoopyLou and welcome to Katie!
MrsMar, good on you for making this decision, and I hope you aren't suffering too much from that horrible cold - a good excuse for a really good rest!
BF bras - last time round a local shop told me to get a measuring tape and send DH out to them with measurements when the milk came in. We did just that and the fit was fine. The shop has now closed ... I'm getting Bravado because they cover a few sizes, in the hope they'll stretch!
A few bits of Toad news - the leg is mending well so I'm being told to try partial weight bearing... hmm, not sure that's wise at this stage of PG! Leg might buckle under the weight! Also had a scan today and the bub is no longer breech - this being said, she's pretty mobile so anything could happen... So now they want to see me in 2 weeks' time to discuss labour, what my MW described as 'a bit of a tall order for us'.

dal21 · 31/08/2007 20:12

I was planning on getting a couple fitted tmrw at m&s as I heard they basically allow for expansion in cup sizes...am i totally wrong to do that?

am so confused....why does every hospital list have nursing bras on them?

Chattyhan · 31/08/2007 20:13

Toadstool - great news that lo has turned lol re leg buckling! I'm glad you're on the mend.

Re Nursing Bras last time i didn't change size when the milk came in and found it a real hastle to bra shop with breast pads/leaking and lo only to find i didn't need a new size! So i've got one new bra this time and assuming it still seems to fit post milk i'll just get some more in the same size! When bra shopping i made sure it was possible to tighten for when ribs move back and that cup was on the larger size! HTH xx
