How exciting waiting for news!!!!

Rosie, how far gone are you? I really empathise with you as it took ages for me to get anything done about my SPD and I saw many an 'expert' before being given physio and crutches with a bit of sympathy thrown in! I remember one particular visit to the emergency GP where I balled my eyes out because I was in so much pain and she just said there's nothing they can do and said to take more painkillers . Is it so much to ask for a bit of sympathy from these people!? I still can't walk properly and I'm struggling to do the smallest of tasks but it makes all the difference when my mw actually seems to be sympathetic! As for DH doing the bathroom - is he doing a strange version of nesting!? Bless you, hope your day gets better...

HIWBB - Happy Birthday to your DH!!

Norfolkbumpkin and EmLouT - glad you got some sleep! I'm very of those of you who manage to get sleep but pleased for you at the same time lol!

Big hugs to you MrsMar (((((hugs))))) xx Hope you feel better soon!

TwitmonstEr - don't blame you for being on edge! Hope all works out in the end though...

Love to everybody else too of course! xx

I've had my feet up all morning and plan on popping out later to get the carpet for the nursery. I'm soooo tired and my hips/pelvis are sore so I'm dreading the driving and having to walk in the shop but it'll be worth it to have the nursery closer to being done so we can get on and have this lo!

PLP (36+6)

willjo · 31/08/2007 11:57

Morning stretches, yawns and waves to you all.

Wasn't able to go online yesterday as my wonderful dad was here doing lots if diy jobs to our new house - poor thing, I was barking orders at him all day!

dal21 - thank you for the reassurance re baby's measurements, I'm glad your bub is growing well now

HIWBB - 4lb's out, that's crazy! I have the midwife coming on Thursday so I'm hoping baby will have continued to grow - some serious eating and resting is called for I think

MrsMar - I hope you have reached a decision that you feel comfortable with and all the very best with whatever you decide to do. I'm sending lots of positive head down vibes to your baby, turn baby, turn

Twitmonster - thank you for sharing what you are planning on doing re Vitamin K and cords etc!! I think I'm going to play it by ear and see how it all works out at the time. Oh and yes, I meant whether or not to have the group B strep test! Hospitals don't offer the test unless you have a urine infection or are having a vaginal swab taken for whatever reason etc but there are a couple of places in the UK that will send you a pack containing the test and you then post it back and they give you the results. I'm afraid it's one of those things that I heard about and then looked into it, thus creating more dsecisons for myself - not good with decisions! If you want to get some info on it have a look at these websites; Royal college of Obstetricions and Gynaecologists, gbss.org.uk or the NCT website.

ECATLM - Oooooh, how very exciting, let us be your distraction and keep us posted - I'll pass on the little gem that my mum gave me - 'doing a jigsaw puzzle is a very good way to take your mind off things dear' believe it or not this is one of her better suggestions

Chattyhan - thanks for the reassurance re baby measuring small - there seems to be a lot of us on here with measuring small or big for dates so it's obviously very common.

Kyala - Thank you for sharing what you have done re Vit K and Gp B Strep - I have gone on and ordered the pack and whilst I'm waiting for it to arrive I can come to a decision. How wonderful that you had a HB last time, I hope your birth in hospital will be a positive one for you and you don't feel like a pin cushion!

LLL - good luck!!! Look forward to hearing the news.

PLP - Sorry about your 'Tesco public Meltdown' - not surprising as you are in pain and on crutches - poor you I hope the splints help with the Carpal tunnel and all the very best with your 'natural' induction techniques

Big hello to everyone else, hope all is well with mummies and bumps

xx 37 weeks

Pennypops · 31/08/2007 12:50

Afternoon all,

ECATLM - Ooooh good luck and all that stuff. I look forward to hearing news! How exciting. Sending you lots of lovely birthy vibes

Loopy - GOOD LUCK for today!!! Can't wait to hear your lo is with you.

Mrsfish - sorry to hear your news, it must be very frustrating at this point. I just hope that things turn out positively after scans etc.

To all those with ongoing breech worries - one of the girls from my NCT group was booked for moxibustion and the lady had a good feel of her belly and told her she wasn't convinced the baby was breech at all and to go and have a scan to check because the last thing she wanted was to turn a baby that was happily pointing the right way. Sure enough, the scan revealed that junior was head down all along and the midwife and GP had got it wrong. I know some of you know for sure anyway due to scans but unless that scan has taken place it seems that mistakes can happen.

Kelm and MMooMar - I'm only a weeny bit engaged at 39+2 as well. I've stopped worrying about it now and just assume my lo will drop when he or she is good and ready,

Hayley - glad to hear you are ok after your fall, must have been very worrying for you and not nice having drips shoved in. Hope you are happy to have your section booked.

NorfolkB - I understand your concerns about induction and I share them, I just hope your blood pressure calms down. Can you do yoga/relaxation techniques/hypnobirthing etc. to get into a good relaxed state?

PLP - great news that your bp is good but not so great about carpal tunnel! Go for it on the RLT, sex etc. and hopefully things will move sooner rather than later! I think you've been very brave given SPD etc.

MrsMar - get well soon! Evil cold be gone.

Hopey - enjoy DH's birthday today!

To all the sleepless crew - I sympathise and am in the same boat. I woke up to throw up at about 1ish and couldn't get back to sleep. Came downstairs so as not to wake dh and listened to a relaxation CD which sent me off for about an hour until the cat woke me up (grrrr). Went back to bed, finally drifted off and woke up again when DH went to work. Then again when a lorry pulled up - blaaaahhhhh. Still in dressing gown now and considering going back to bed after spending morning researching local nurseries. Am soooo fed up with being sick all the time :-(

Thanks to Kyala and Twit for comments on home birth - have decided to go for it and am suitable and midwife has been fab so am convinced this is the way that I'll be happiest. DH is very supportive - I might well forget to mention it to MIL though as she went into a meltdown when I first suggested that I thought it would be quite nice.

Hugs to all!!

MrsMar · 31/08/2007 13:01

Hello everyone, sorry for crapness of keeping up with everyone, still feel like I'm dying! Dragged myself to an antenatal class this morning just so I could have a chat with the midwife about ecv. I hadn't realised it was written in my scan notes that the baby is already 6lb13oz so my chances of a successful turn aren't good anyway so what with me being so ill as well I've decided on the elective cs. I'll post as soon as I've got a date... off to my bed now to writhe in a vaguely feverish way!

Take care xx

MrsMar · 31/08/2007 13:23

Ok, it's official, I am delirious! I've just put three bags of flour and a bag of sugar totalling 6lb15oz (the baby's current weight according to yesterday's scan) in to a carrier bag to see what it feels like. It's massive!! dh has finally come to appreciate the weight I'm carrying around!! Ok, now I'm off to lie feverishly in my bed and think about my big baby (I know that's not that big, but it feels it to me )

Holly29 · 31/08/2007 13:39

Look after yourself, MrsMar, hope you feel better. x

MMooMar · 31/08/2007 13:49

emj23 · 31/08/2007 14:17

Hi all. I didn't sleep very well last night either due to chronic heartburn plus the usual three trips to the loo, so much sympathy to everyone else who's knackered today.

Looking forward to news from ECATLM and Loopy! Best of luck and calming thoughts to both of you

MrsMar · 31/08/2007 15:38

BAH, can't sleep cos throat is too sore and workmen outside are kindly using a pneumatic drill right outside my bedroom window!

Get those bags of sugar out MMooMar! It made me giggle for ages (feverish, slightly hysterical giggles admittedly!) and dh has renewed respect for my aching body now!

The hospital have rung me back and without a question have booked me in for elective cs on 13th September. They very sweetly didn't make me feel bad for not attempting ecv at all. Feels a bit odd knowing LOs birthday before he's born! I wailed down the phone at my mum his that first birthday would be Friday the 13th, but have worked out that next year is a leap year so it's actually saturday 13th! She asked me what his 11th birthday would be.....

she was joking......

I hope!

Feel much happier now I've made a decision and we're sticking to it. Gives me something to aim for and feel a lot calmer knowing it's all sorted. Thanks to everyone who offered advice and support

I'm off to lie on the sofa and dribble some more

I hope we hear some good news soon from the others who are getting twinges/early labour signs/desperate! Sending happy birth vibes to all on tenterhooks!

xx

MrsFish · 31/08/2007 16:01

At least you can relax now MrsMar

I'm still up in the air atm. Just hope mw will do what I ask on monday

emj23 · 31/08/2007 16:20

MrsMar, don't worry about your LO's birthday being the 13th. My DP's is the 13th too, and he's never regarded it as bad because when his birthday does happen to fall on a Friday, he gets to have nice presents while everyone else is fussing about it being unlucky!

dal21 · 31/08/2007 16:30

NEWSFLASH #

LoopyLou delivered Katie via cs at 13.02 this afternoon. 6lbs 14oz!!!

MrsMar · 31/08/2007 16:35

Good luck MrsFish!

Emj - thanks! They're obviously very special people for being born on the 13th!! My best friend was born on friday the 13th, and she hasn't cursed me yet!!

MrsMar · 31/08/2007 16:37

aaaaah! Dal, thanks for that, if you are still in contact with loopy please say big congrats on the birth of Katie (lovely name ) and best wishes for speedy recovery from cs!!

Oooooh this is all so exciting, all these new babies! We'll even be able to start our own postnatal thread soon! YAY!!!

TwitmonstEr · 31/08/2007 16:43

yyyyyyyyaaaaaaaaayyyyyy!!!!!!!

congratulations loopy!

yyyyyyyyaaaaaaaaayyyyyyy!!!!!!!!

TwitmonstEr · 31/08/2007 16:45

please can you all take a minute to send this naughty baby some birth vibes please?

Pretty please

kyala · 31/08/2007 16:57

Afternoon all, hope you're all well today?
I'm a little fuzzy headed but am trying to gather myself before DH gets home, so bare with me (BTW DD is sat in front of me on the comp desk so you might get a pretty garbled sentence or 2 )

Today has gone so quickly, DD got up at 10 am and, after getting her changed etc. and breakfasted I realised that we were having lunch with a friend today (luckily just in the pub round the corner but at this point it was nearly half 11) and I still had some of my hair to put in wool (I did most of it last night but got tired)
So, finished my hair about 2 minutes before getting out of the door (12:30) and sat at the pub for 5 minutes before my friend arrived and treated us to lunch, it was lovely, but only lasted an hour, wish work lunch breaks were longer! (Wished it more when I was the one working LOL)

So we got home and DD went for a nap, as did I, at 2pm, woke up with wet pillow due to horrendous dribbling (I seem to do that so much worse during the day than at night ) Woke up at 3pm, DD wanted food (she didn't actually eat a lot at lunchtime, little pickle) so, have sat down, had a bit of banana cake and now am awaiting DH's arrival, along with milk and fizzy water aplenty , lovely relaxed day (although doesn't actually feel like I've relaxed at all, typical)!

So, there's my day, boring, best get used to it, that's the most I'm allowed to do now baby's arrival is getting closer (although DD was 10 days late and my calculations say this one should be the end of Sept, not the 12th!)

Anywho:
willjo: Glad to be of some help, hope your test comes out negative for you
I'm sure my hospital birth will be fine, I'm hoping I'll have enough time to jump in the pool once I get there too, so a nice big room awaiting me (with luck)

Mrsmar: Good idea, might try and do that flour/sugar bag for DH to carry for a bit, and make him carry it IN his hips

Mmoomar: Glad to hear your freezer's on the mend then

Loopylou: Congratulations ((sings))

Twitmonster: Birth vibes coming your way (((((((((()))))))))) Send a couple back my way, I'm bored

As for the rest of you, sorry I'm being a bit lazy but I'm thinking of you all !!

Righty, off for a little colouring session with DD, (Hahaa Wish me luck!! )
Might be back later to check you're all still with child and haven't (yet again) beaten me to it (I have delusions that I'm going to be the last one here, what with all the C-Sections being arranged etc, would make an awfully boring thread eh?!)
xxx

dal21 · 31/08/2007 17:06

Hello - have texted loopy back sending her our best wishes etc.

MrsM - sorry you are feeling so crabby but glad you have made you decision and your date is booked.

I have had an eventful day - LO was not as active as normal last night and this morning so headed to hosp for trace - which was fine. However my obs wouldnt release me until he checked blood flows - took about 20 mins on the scan and fortunately everything was still fine (he told me afterwards that if blood flow had changed since tues, he was going to deliver the baby). Anyhows, both he and my mw think there is little chance of bub turning naturally and due to small size/ changes in fetal movement - he will not recommend me for ECV. It is a shame as the consultant who was going to do it has one of the best success rates in the country - but hey ho, is not to be!

He has pretty much told me to prepare for a csection and reckons it will happen before my booked one on the 20th.

I can tell you this much, I nearly fell on the floor when I realised there was a chance this bub could be here so soon!! No more manic days for me - this LO always move less when I have been busy during the day!

Anyhows, sorry for the me post. Am still trying to get my head round an early arrival!

Chattyhan · 31/08/2007 17:07

I had the text from Loopyloulisa too! So i've sent back our congratulations!

I'll send you some birth vibes twitmonstEr and can you send some back! However DP is unavailable tonight i asked him what would happen if things started as he's DJing on his own. He said he can't leave so i'll have to cope! So as i battle over the next couple of hours with DS dinner, bath, bed i'm wondering if sod's law will mean i'll go into labour and if so what do i do! I'm sure i'll still be here in the morning! But part of me wonders if DP will actually feel bad

TwitmonstEr · 31/08/2007 17:09

If sods law applied I'd have it during the week when dp is away. As he is home at weekends no doubt there will be a no show.

[closes eyes and sends some over to kyala and chatty]

TwitmonstEr · 31/08/2007 17:11

Dal, Perhaps not waiting as long and it being more last minute could be better in a way as you won't have the chance to get properly scared/worried etc. And it makes you a bit more like me, waiting, wondering...

dal21 · 31/08/2007 17:19

Twit - is it driving you insane yet??

I did actually tell my obs that I wouldnt have let him deliver me today - tomorrow was the earliest he was allowed! He laughed and said he would have accomodated my request!

EmLouT · 31/08/2007 17:43

How exciting - all these babies - it is starting to make me feel as though mine will be here in the not too distant future. Congratulations to all those with lovely new babies.

Just got back from a lovely massage and am going to have a rest before DH gets home - just wanted to say a quick hello first.

TwitmonstEr · 31/08/2007 17:53

can he remove mine too?

dal21 · 31/08/2007 17:57

LOL - will ask him if he will do a special deal if we have 2 to do instead of one!
