EnormousChangesAtTheLastMinute · 28/08/2007 11:20

welcome back amyclaraeloisemum! lovely name (they're all lovely). glad to hear you're doing ok. would love to see photo and hear all about birth if you have time/inclination to share! but most of all congratulations to you all!

willjo · 28/08/2007 11:46

Hi Ladies,

Hope you all had a restful, enjoyable bank holiday and not too many dramas!

Huge congratulations to Kinki on the birth of your baby son Liam

Good luck to all with appointments and scans today.

I am suddenly feeling very unprepared for the main event. Went to Peter Jones (John Leiws) with dh on Saturday to get prepared but I became very overwhelmed and started crying , think it was the second pack of fitted cot sheets that the shop assistant loaded onto dh arms that did it! I just wanted to get the absolute basics and wait until baby was safe in my arms before getting everything - that's what the internet is for! Has anyone else felt like this or experinced public meltdowns?!

Off to get some nice bits for our new home today, hoping I won't repeat my John Lewis performance! I blame it on the full moon, I'm sure I saw one

Have a good day mummies, bumps and early arrivals

xx

EmLouT · 28/08/2007 12:06

EnormousChangesAtTheLastMinute - thanks for the advice. I think I will call the midwife this afternoon as the leaking hasn't stopped. Sudddenly feeling very nervous about the whole thing. Am 37+4 today but am totally unprepared for LO's arrival to be iminent!

FlossALump · 28/08/2007 12:12

Huge congratulations Kinki! Glad you are all safe and well. xxx

Pennypops · 28/08/2007 12:18

Congrats to Kinki and welcome to the world to baby Liam!!! Fabulous stuff. All these beautiful babies popping out - makes me feel all maternal and a lot less grumpy about my own discomfort!

Amyclaramum - great news that you are home and settled with Eloise. Can't wait to see a pic!

Congrats to those hitting the 37 week milestone - two of the girls in my NCT group gave birth over the weekend - this means that in terms of the date order I'm next up! Gulp

PLP - have a lovely day today for your DD's birthday! with you on X Factor also - I am riveted already!!!

ECATLM - hope you get all your appointments in before any futher action occurs. I was thinking I should really book some myself so I know what you mean!

Canadianmum - hope you are feeling a bit better today. I think we all have our rubbish hormonal days and anything, or indeed nothing, can trigger it. I find chocolate helps immensely!

Well I have been getting more tightenings over the weekend - went on an epic cleaning session yesterday (anyone else obsessing over dust on skirting boards??) and just when I sat down aftr hours of dusting, polishing, hoovering and bathroom scrubbing felt a real twang across the top of my bump. Didn't hurt but I used it to practice my breathing, And then last night I thought I might be getting a bit of a show but I think it was a false alarm. And STILL my bump doesn't seem any lower! Have given up worrying about that one now - I think my lo will engage when he's good and ready.

Right, I am off to pick half a hundredweight of tomato's and get cracking on the latest freezer fillers!

See you all later - hope you have a lovely day everyone. PennyPops - 38+6

Good afternoon ladies,

massive congrats to kinki, that was a bit unexpected!

omg i am aching sooooooo much today. my hip was playing up since yesterday morning and i can't walk very well or put all my weight on it. and since last night my bump has been very tight and i've got an ache all over it which just wont go away. i don't think it's contractions cos it's constant but i'm glad i don't have to wait much longer.

can i please have a volunteer text buddy? i always feel a bit awkward about approaching people for this sort of thing but time is getting on. i only have your contact details if you were on the first mailing as kinki kindly pasted the attachment onto an email for me but i still can't open the attachments sent with the subsequent emails.

still haven't packed my bag but i am just cooking several portions of spag bol to go in the freezer for when i'm back home. my intention is to make a casserole and sweet n sour chicken later , just not sure i can stand long enough to do it.

love to you all

LLL xx

38+1 3 days til cs!!

MrsMar · 28/08/2007 14:06

Hello everyone...

First of all, a billion congratulations to Kinki and baby Liam. I hope you're both well and recovering from cs well and are able to go home soon!

I hope everyone had a lovely weekend. dh and I did nothing at all which was fab! Yesterday cos we had the carpenters in again we went out for brunch and then to see the bourne ultimatum. Great movie! Lovely day

I've given up trying to work out what position this one is in, I'm going to drive myself bonkers!! I'm going to wait until my mw appt tomorrow to see what she says. Still getting low down kicks though.... bah! I said I wouldn't do this!! I hope everyone else with mw appts to ascertain position gets the news they're hoping for!

Kyala - I hope the breadmaking is getting better. We get powdered skimmed milk at waitrose but you can get it at sommerfield and asda too (the other supermarkets within walking/waddling distance from our house ) We've got a kenwood breadmaker, if yours is the same I can send you some recipes. It's such yummy bread. Woke up again this morning to the smell of fresh bread...hmmmmmm!

Jemima - I'm getting period type pains too, not in waves like contractions but constant for about half an hour to an hour each time. I have no idea what they are, stretching (I keep thinking the same.. can my uterus really stretch any more?) I might ask the mw tomorrow...

HIWBB - Your new kitchen looks great, and HOOOOGE!! Lucky you! Great bump pic btw!

PLP - it does sound like your dh and dad are being more practical than "wild thang" about the bike (sorry couldn't think of another way of saying it !) and if it takes the pressure off you it will help. You never stop worrying about them though do you?

fio at the appointment thing... I keep doing things like that, turning up for mw when I don't have an appt.... oh these hormones are fun aren't they?

Lovely to see you back amyclaraELOISEmum!

willjo at your John Lewis tears. I hope the rest of your shopping goes well.

I've been cooking all morning now... done some yummy vegetable soup, three lasagnes and 2 cauliflower cheeses so now I'm off to try and rearrange my freezer to fit it all in

Have a lovely day all xx

Holly29 · 28/08/2007 14:38

Ooooh! Congrats to Kinki! How exciting!

Kerri28 · 28/08/2007 15:18

Congrats Kinki!!! and welcome Liam!!! how exciting!! and how tiny?!

sorry fornot posting all weekend, computer playing up so have nabbed one space down at library for a few minutes to let everyone know that despite being thoroughly "swept" and 2cm dilated last thurs, no baby as yet!!

thought my waters were trickling on saturday so went to labour ward to be monitord, turns out they hadn't but then i had very little faith in midwife there, who pulled and pushed and twisted me sooo hard i thought i would pass out. her excuse was that she didn't believe my baby was back to back and was trying to find out whee it was....she recorded on my notes that it as LOA - perfect postition, which sadly, it's never been in... she also said my BP was normal when she only took it once and told me it was too high and she'd retake it later (She didn't!) so who knows whats going on with my body, but one things for sure, i'm now really not looking forward to going into the labout ward if thats how you get treated...

am also a bit worried as was hooked up to monitor to check on baby. apparently baby's harts should fluctuate a lot and midwife sent me into panic as baby had same heartrate (133bpm) for over 20 mins, even through all the poking and prodding...he did evenually "wake up" and heart rate moved, but she told me to "keep an eye on him" - like that is an easy thing to do?!!!

oh well, more sitting round waiting - i think I am just tooo impatient to sit around any longer!!

hope you're all enjoying the sunshine, although today is coldest it's been here in days, only a little bit of sun...

dal21 · 28/08/2007 15:31

Hi everyone

Firstly - huge congrats to Kinki and baby liam! Great news to hear that mum and baby are doing well! Poor form on the queue jumping tho!

Fio - the csection thread....well, my jaw was on the ground tbh. I was shocked at how negative some of the posts were - but then I guess it is some peoples experiences. I know plenty of people first hand whose experiences have been nothing like those described on that thread...so am simply forgetting what was posted and staying positive!

Hopey - fab picture of bump, kitchen and dog! You must be chuffed to pieces with the finished product. The surface looks granite and just to be a total loser...Lakeland do a fantastic worktop polisher/ protector that I use on my surfaces and it is one of the best products I have come across. Only need to apply it once a month or so, but your surfaces look amazing!

Nettee - hope your appt goes well, fingers and toes!

Welcome back amyclaraeloisemum!

Willjo - at the tears, am sure it will all be fine. i think we all have days of feeling overwhelmed and well pretty damn scared about what lies ahead! So no, you are not alone....

EmlouT - any further updates?

LoopyLou - please use me as a text buddy! will look your number up now and text you. I know, this text buddy thing is hard, maybe I should have buddied people up??

Everyone else - sorry for lack of individual replies - there are so many of us now. But to everyone!!

Will post my appt update separately

dal21 · 28/08/2007 15:34

Breech/ growth update....

LO is still breech. Feet are tucked underneath it, which is also not the best breech position it could have been in. The good news is that the growth has been good, and blood flows are still spot on so they have established that the baby is (quite normally) on the small side.
My obs has been scanning me regularly and this bub has not moved from this position...for a very long time. His gut instinct tells him that this baby is not going to move of its own volition - but there is still time.

So, I have another scan next tues to monitor growth and blood flows. In the next few weeks - a call will be made on whether they attempt an ECV. Otherwise my csection is booked for 20th Sept...if bub turns and stays put - then it will be scrapped and we will be on for a vag delivery. So basically am still totally up in the air and trying to prepare for 2 birth scenarios!

MrsM - good luck for your appt tomorrow, but if like me you are feeling kicks in same place, likelihood is that bub hasnt moved!

MrsFish · 28/08/2007 16:46

MANY CONGRATULATIONS kinki and baby Liam, hope your recovery is quick I have a feeling I am going to go overdue again, I hope I am early though, I really have had enough now

Good afternoon everyone. Well my plans for today have totally been thrown awry. Ds woke up this morning with croup like symptoms so I took him to the docs at 11.30, waited half an hour to be seen only for the doc to then send me to childrens emergency ward to get him checked out. Left there about 2.45 and managed to get a bit of shopping in, and got home about 20 mins ago. They gave ds a shot of steroids in medicine form and he now seems much better. Just been told to give him medised and keep an eye on him, if he gets worse to take him straight back. He is full of life now though, even though he has missed his nap. I'm shattered on the other hand So much for housework today, plus he has had to miss his nursery session.

I've got my next mw appt on thursday morning, do they take bloods again if you have shown that iron levels are low previously?

LoopyLoulisa good luck for your impending cs. I know what you mean about texting someone out of the blue but we are all in the same boat. Anyone can feel free to text me their news when it happens

MrsF (35+2)

hannahsaunt · 28/08/2007 16:48

Hello to all and welcome to the babies!!

Now 37 weeks and finishing work tomorrow - can't wait...

Baby still not engaged at all so lots of rib pain - cheery m/w said that as the baby is now so big and hasn't moved down (s)he's acting like rib expanders and my rib cage is splayed. Explains the pain I guess but is def better than the horrid spd I had once ds2 engaged the last time.

9 weeks on 3 iron tablets a day has brought my haemoglobin up to the glorious level of 115 but have to keep taking for the duration.

Dh increasingly unconvinced by his diagnosis of it being a boy at the 20wk scan now that his colleagues know that it is his opinion and not that of the sonographer - his professional reputation is on the line and he is being teased mercilessly in advance of finding out for real . At least we now have names for either eventuality.

Hope all are well. More soon.

Holly29 · 28/08/2007 17:09

Dal,

That sucks but good news re: growth. I am dead envious of your c-section being booked in (if you see what I mean). I bet I go for my scan next Tuesday and then they will say the baby is still breech but they have no slots for sections until 10 days after my due date or something. Not that I WANT to have a section but hey... would be nice to know they have booked me in.

Anyway, going for moxibustion on Friday so am keeping all fingers and toes crossed.

If you do have ECV will you let me know what it is like? x

dal21 · 28/08/2007 17:17

Holly - I think with breech bubs and csections - shouldnt they be done by around 39 weeks? It is good to have the section booked; well next tues I have a scan again and then a 2 hour sesh with MW to talk through all poss scenarios.

I am so very relieved about the outcome of the scan, just wish I knew what was going to happen - but i guess that not knowing is the nature of babies and childbirth. None of us really know 110% what is going to happen once labour starts....i will defo update on ecv etc.

Holly29 · 28/08/2007 17:24

That's fab - and I totally sympathise with the not knowing thing. I had SO prepared myself for normal delivery and this breech thing just threw me really. Not knowing which one you're going to have is tough. Mind you, as you say, that's the nature of the beast. Fingers crossed for you - I'll be thinking of you at your scan on the same day as me!

dal21 · 28/08/2007 17:39

and my thoughts will be with you. oh well - I guess the best we can do is relax, not obsess about it (says me!) and let nature take its course. My body and baby have bought me this far, have to trust that they will continue to do what is best for the baby.

willjo · 28/08/2007 17:49

Dal21 - I was very interested to read about the Lakeland worktop polisher/protector you use on your granite surfaces as we have just moved to a new house with granite worktops and I have been grumbling about how to clean them - so thank you
Great news that your scans have been so positive but I'm sure it does feel a bit up in the air having to plan 2 birth scenarios - they are keeping a close eye on you though which isgreat so go with the flo with these things and keep an open mind as like you rightly said - no-one knows what kind oflabour they will have - Good luck with your scan next week.

Holly29 - I hope the moxibustion works a treat for you.

Sorry so many of you are feeling achey and sore - hang on in there, they have to come out soon

willjo 36+4 I think

MMooMar · 28/08/2007 17:57

OMG...OMG CONGRATULATIONS, HUGS AND KISSES and a massive WELL DONE to Lou,Amyclaramum and Kinki xxxxxx
and loads of HUGS AND KISSES and BIRTH DAY WISHES to the new little people xxxxxx

Cant believe so much has happened,Ive missed it all! I am so pleased for you all, hope all the LOS are doing really well,God it`s real exciting ennit?
Lovely names by the way ladies,

All happening now,one by one we shall all finally pop.I am really chuffed that I have made it this far though and not had another premmie, going to do nothing all week to make sure I get to Saturday so I will be 38+1 ( 37+4 today).Looking forward to the end of this week when I shall take the prem clothes out of my hospital bag

Have to admit had to skip some messages to try and find out what was happening as I knew Lou and Amyclaramum were about to get going but Kinki as well....stunned! Will have to try and catch up later but now you lot are on mat leave its going to be really hard to keep up.

My mum has gone into hospital today for a week of tests(dont know what they are testing for yet)and they will operate next Tuesday to either remove the cancer in her kidney or take the whole kidney away.Same team who did my brothers kidney cancer op at Birminghams QE will be doing it so I have every faith in them.No news on if it has spread anywhere else yet so hoping its a case of no news is good news.Betcha I`m in the delivery suite next Tuesday though,God my dad will feel like a headless chicken.

Didnt get to the MW last week, was checking my appointment time and noticed the daft bat on reception had booked me in for 3 weeks time instead of 2 so have to go this week still not grumbling about that.
Went and got my widgey feeding cushion, hope it fits round me better when bumps on the outside cos it dont fit round me now ...lol!
still havent brought any nursing bras though....no time ,no time.Did get some of those bed pads but the ones for kids beds when they are coming out of nappies, asda have got the pampers ones on offer if anyone wants any (£3 for 7 mats)nice and big too.A bit rustly but ok with a towel on top and a fitted sheet to hold it in place, but at least the feather bed will be ok....phew!....Ill wreck the lounge carpet instead now .Might pinch Kinki`s nappy idea...just loved the christmas tablecloth bit too ..classic!

Anyway will pop back later going to try and catch up on some more posts before I start dinner.

love to all you ladies and babies.
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

LOL - feel like a less of a loser.

this is the stuff - worktop wonder

MrsFish · 28/08/2007 18:22

Excellent - thanks for that link Dal

Does it really do what it says on the tin? I am always irked that I can't find something that brings a nice shine to the granite in our kitchen

dal21 · 28/08/2007 18:44

MrsF - it honestly does do what it says on the tin, but to be honest, I find most stuff from lakeland does. That shop is fantastic!

TwitmonstEr · 28/08/2007 18:59
