TwitmonstEr · 28/08/2007 19:43

helloooooo?

dal21 · 28/08/2007 19:51

hello twit. hows you?

canadianmum · 28/08/2007 19:51

Congratulations Kinki!!!!

Dal and Holly - sorry to hear bubbas are still breech. There is still time for them to turn and I hope they do. I have heard that doing handstands in a swimming pool might work, what do you reckon ??? It is tough having 2 birth scenarios to plan for, I am still half thinking I will end up with a cs instead of the VBAC that I want but what can you do?

willjo - I was in PJ on Sunday! I was almost in tears trying to sort out school uniforms, luckily once the clerk saw I was heavily pregnant she seemed to pull her finger out a bit and gave me discount on some shirts I have been waiting weeks for. I hope you ended up getting what you need and not being too overwhelmed.

I had a MW appt today, she says lo is in the boomerang position - i.e. head down, back to my left and legs to my right. She is calling it LOP/LOL. Not ideal but at least the back is on the left, which means a shorter distance to turn at birth. She is prescribing lots of all fours work, circling on birth ball and stair climbing . Bubba is 1/5 engaged so looking like the long haul for me.........

Good luck to those with waters breaking, shows, contractions etc..... it is all so exciting

canadianmum - 37+3

TwitmonstEr · 28/08/2007 19:52

rather sore again
lol

dal21 · 28/08/2007 19:54

anymore contractions?

TwitmonstEr · 28/08/2007 19:57

sort of. Very tight belly and very achey back and bottom of belly, but in a [possibly] way. lol

lauraloo25 · 28/08/2007 20:09

Hi, I am a second time mum, have little boy who is 2 and am expecting a girl on 11th September. My son was induced as was 10 days late, so not sure what will happen with this one. Midwife doesn't seem to think I will go so far over this time, and I hope not, as I am ready now!!

kyala · 28/08/2007 20:57

Evening all!
Ooh Big Congrats to Kinki!! LLL: I know exactly what you're going through! Today I was meant to be chilling but turned into the most active day I've had in this trimester! Hope your pain goes I know mine's going to stick with me until at least tomorrow (we're taking DD swimming so am hoping that the water will help )
Feel free to text me anytime (I don't have a lot of real friends and get quite excited at random texts, you should see me when O2 tell me I've got bolt on's that are available LOL)

Mrsmar: Ooh I think our's is morphy richards but it might be worth sending the recipes, I can always try ithem out and fail LOL Gives me something to do eh?! Didn't manage to do any baking or jam making as planned today but will dedicate the last half of the week to food
Managed to get the skimmed milk powder from the Big Tesco tonight so I'm all ready to go
for your poor little DS

Dal21: Well done with LO's growth etc, sounds like it's going well so far, despite the breech position.

Ok I've got bored (sorry, V but my head's gone fuzzy and my bones ache and stuff. . . .)
What a day eh?! So much has gone on and there's so much love in the air now LOL
Went on hospital tour and am now completely convinced that I'm going to end up with the MW from hell!
We got most of the way round, then into the post-natal dept and DH spotted one of his colleagues, who's other half has just had a DS, 2 weeks early, 6lb 11oz, 54 cm long(!!) and the most gorgeous baby I've seen since DD was born! Anywho, she was telling us the reality of the staff and it turns out that the day staff aren't exactly the most friendly bunch! At that I said "That's it I'm having a home birth!!" LOL I'm bound to go in and get the day staff for after care aren't I? but she did say the night staff make up for it (and I wont be sleeping in the night because. . . ?) Anywho, they seemed quite nice and there's quite a lot of nice features, and the pool looks lovely so, as long as the baby doesn't just fall out of me and I get to go into the pool, it's looking Ok really!

I got some more stuff packed and now all I need to put in the bag is a set of newborn size baby clothes (this is a very sparse bag as I really don't plan on being in longer than I have to! Reckon I'll have LO, get some sleep then off home , if not it'll be another little drive for DH )

All that needs doing now is DD's overnight bag and a bit more cooking (and freezing, as long as it doesn't all get eaten first )

Ah, that'll do, sorry for being so blooming lazy with responding but will catch up more tomorrow when I'm not so tired
hugs to all those feeling crappy, I know how you're feeling
and hugs to the LO's that have entered the world in the past few hours!
xxx

emj23 · 28/08/2007 21:10

Welcome Lauraloo25!

Congratulations to kinki and welcome to baby Liam!

I think I need to check this thread every couple of hours - if I leave it for longer than that everything happens at once!

I had my appointment today too, everything is fine with LO, she's not bigger than she should be at all. She's exactly in the middle of the growth charts, lovely and average although apparently she will end up being at least as big as DS was (8 1/2 lb). She is, however, breech again. I think she's doing cartwheels, every other appointment she's breech, then ceph, then breech again. I have another appointment in two weeks to see if I need an ECV.

Hope everyone is feeling fine and well

Hopeitwontbebig · 28/08/2007 21:15

PLP, sorry again to jump on you re the bike, I guess a 125 will go considerably slower than DH's 1000cc Yamaha he had, he was doing 70 when he was knocked off, so guess he must be super human or something.... always did have a thing for Superman, guess I've got the real thing . Does your hip hurt when you go round bends then? Luckily I don't have that problem. When it is bad, I am unable to lift my foot properly off the clutch, so end up coasting. OK if I can drive DH's car as it's an automatic! Well done you and DH on the decorating front, sounds like you're making good progress.

ccpink, hope you get a better night's sleep tonight!!!!!!!!!!!

EmLouT, how are you getting on with those bloomin builders?

ECATLM, with you on the grooming front. I'm booked in for a 'final' pre baby haircut next week. Thank you for the compliments on my pic, our new big kitchen is the result of knocking down two walls, I love it in there, I can't wait to get there in the mornings to make coffee!! Re dog, he drops SO much hair, you wouldn't believe it , he really is quite scruffy and has the most incredibly stinky breath! But he is gorgeous really!

FioFio, PMSL, that is SO the sort of thing I do! PS where is this C-section thread and do I want to read it?

Nettee hope you got on ok at the hospital today. Thinking of you. x

amyclaramumm, great to hear from you again, picture picture picture picture

willjo, sorry to hear about your emotional shopping trip. hugs x

LLL, poor you with your hip pain too, it's horrid isn't it. PLP and me are fellow sufferers too Ooh 3 days until you meet your LO, HOW EXCITING!!

MrsMar, glad you enjoyed the Bourne Ultimatum, I thought it was a fab film too. Well done you on all that cooking!

Kerri, sorry about your experience with your midwife. Hopefully she won't be on duty when you actually have your LO.

dal21, thanks for the link to the Lakeland stuff. I have to say I'm still going through that Honeymoon period and keep searching for fingerprints and marks and keep polishing polishing polishing, I'm sure the novelty will wear off soon, hmmmm, maybe in about 3 weeks!

MrsFish, sorry your DS hasn't been well today, sounds like you've had a nightmarish day

hannahsaunt, yay on finishing work tomorrow.

Mmoomar, all the VERY best of luck to your Mum for the tests she's having. Sounds like she is in good hands from what you were saying. Thinking of you.

Hey, Twit, was thinking about you earlier, haven't heard from you for a while. How you doing?

Canadianmum, boomerang position?! that's a new one he he he. Your twins start school soon don't they. How are you with that? They must seem like they are growing up too fast. hugs

We had a lovely day today at West Midlands Safari park. Saw the BEST elephants every, they really were hilarious! Absolutely shattered now, good job most of the day involved sitting on my bum in the car!

CONGRATULATIONS KINKI hope you're recovering well and being well looked after.

I was up all last night with cramping pains and then today..nothing! I guess it was just a practice run after all. If I walk very far I do get a weird sensation like the baby is going to fall out. I guess/hope this means that it's head is getting more and more engaged. I have this wonderful fantasy that when I finally get to the hospital they will say "you're 8cm dilated" then 2 pushes and out LO comes. Ok, I know it's a fantasy, but it's keeping me calm!

Norfolkbumpkin · 28/08/2007 21:49

Big congrats to the new mums, the pace is definitely picking up now! I am 39 wks exactly today and getting thoroughly bored now, although this is only my second week of maternity leave. Daytime t.v. is just shocking! I spent today at my sister's house with her four daughters. They are all teenagers, so experts in shlepping around the house doing not a lot!! They presented me with a lovely suprise present. It was a 'red cross' parcel consisting of a box full of essentials for both me and the baby. A really great idea and very thoughtful. Unpacking everything will give me something to do tomorrow whilst watching more pap on the goggle box!

Tinkjon · 28/08/2007 22:33

Many, many congratulations to Kinki - yaaay!!! welcome to baby Liam too!

Jemima, I've been getting period pains too - a constant ache rather than contraction-like, as you say. My consultant said that it's normal and is just stretching pain.

Dal & FioFio, are you both booked in for sections then? That other thread was very scary! I wasn't worried about my forthcoming section but now I am Actually, I'm so upset about it all - I was promised the 10th but when they came to book me in they couldn't fit me in until the 13th instead. I'm SO frightened of going into labour before my section so this really increases my chances of that happening. Also DD1 starts school on the 17th so I was hoping to be on the way to recovery by then, which I won't be if they move me back to the 13th .

dal21 · 29/08/2007 05:15

Morning everyone!!

Twit - sorry for disappearing on you after asking question last night, I just had to go to bed. This not napping lark during the day means i am shattered and ready for bed most nights by 8pm! then wide awake at 5 with baby insisting i get up and have something to eat! LOL!

Hopey - my obsession with countertop cleaning has never gone away. Black granite looks stunning but is a nightmare to keep looking good, hence loving this product so much. I hope it gives you and mrsf many a pleasurable moment!! . Oh and in all seriousness, no dont read the csection thread. i wish i hadnt seen it.

Kyala - the tour seems to have gone well. Am sure everything will be fine!

EmJ - fingers crossed yours settles in the right position. mine has not moved for months!

Tink - yup, my csection was booked yesterday. Off the top of my head, I think fio's could actually be today! With mine, we are going to take a view on whether to try ECV in the next 10 days...but basically if this bub does not turn, am booked for the 20th when i will be 38+6. And please dont worry about your section. My SIL, numerous friends have had sections - emergency and elective and not one of them has had any of those problems posted on that thread. All were on their feet and recovering absolutely fine. Stay positive and you will be fine. Have you got some arnica 200? works for both sections and VB's.

Good luck to all those getting more symptoms; and those hoping that their LO's put in an appearance soon. I may dig out the list and put it back up. Have no idea who is due next....

What a long post, have great days everyone. I may try and get a few more zzz's before starting my day.

dal21 · 29/08/2007 05:38

Have just sent another updated spreadsheet out - thanks alfie and toadstool for your contact details.

Also - first time i have been into that account for about a week and kinki had emailed me from memory when she was initially taken into hospital. Will start to check that account everyday too just incase that is the one email address from mnet you all remember!

Hopeitwontbebig · 29/08/2007 05:58

morning dal!! Fellow 5am(er), sitting here eating Cheerios!

OP posts:
Hopeitwontbebig · 29/08/2007 06:23

Have to admit I had a brief look through that section thread. I didn't read any of the horror stories! Last thing I need today when I'm probably going to be given a date for my caesarean! I did read what you and FioFio wrote though. Not a helpful thread IMO. But like you say, there are LOTS of women with v positive stories. Just seems the negatives are that bit 'louder'.

Well I'm going to attempt to go back to bed for a bit. Definitely getting some practice in for the inevitable sleepless nights! I didn't have this sleeplessness problem with DS1 and DS2 and boy was it a shock to the system when I had the baby! Somehow think my body will be better prepared this time.

Dal, I think FioFio's c-section is booked in for the 5th.

Think we ought to update our stats page, showing arrivals, planned section dates then the rest. Won't attempt right now, need to try and get a bit more sleep

OP posts:
dal21 · 29/08/2007 07:01

Morning Hopey - hope your cheerios were good! Good luck with your appt today. I have only just made it back into bed to catch some more sleep - contemplated defrosting freezer before stashing more food in there, then i realised i hadnt turned it up to superfreeze before trying it, so have to wait another 4 hours. shame.

EmLouT · 29/08/2007 08:07

Morning all. Once again I am up with the builders - what fun.

Congratulations to the new mums - I am very excited for you and not a little bit envious - I am bored of waiting now!

Spoke to the midwife yesterday about my waters leaking and the doctor is going to examine me today - I am very nervous! DH has gone off to work and is meant to be going to a dinner thing tonight - I hope that they don't suggest an induction and that, if they do, they give me time to prepare a bit.

For all of you who are having C Sections - try not to listen to the horror stories. My sister had one two weeks ago and was fine - she was out of hospital in three days with no need for any stronger painkillers than paracetamol, her stitches have healed well and she and the baby are fine and coping perfectly happily at home.

Am going to try and get some more sleep now that I have let the builders in - I am feeling really dodgy this morning but I think it is just nerves about going to the hospital. Have a good morning everyone.

MrsFish · 29/08/2007 08:13

Good morning everyone

Well ds seems much better today and I had the best nights sleep I have had in ages. Only woke up twice for the loo and had no heartburn AMAZING bet it doesn't last though. I'm feeling more cumbersome now though, just done some general tidying up this morning and now have stitch on both sides of bump, so I am having a quick sit down before carrying on. Going for a walk at 10.30 with a friend, hoping I can do more than a couple of hundred yards

To all those worried about CS, my SiL has had two now and both times she recovered really quickly, in fact second time round she recovered more quickly than I did after having an episiotomy and was driving after a week

MrsFish · 29/08/2007 08:15

Dal - Just cleaned kitchen and again despaired at the smears on the black granite, so am going to order some of that stuff now

Tinkjon · 29/08/2007 09:15

Dal, yes I have got some Arnica. Tbh, I'm not really a believer in homeopathy but might as well give it a go! I have actually had a C-section before but, although this sounds ridiculous, I've kind of forgotten how I felt! I know my stomach hurt for a while but how much it hurt I've forgotten. I'm just trying to work out whether I'll be able to do the walk to school a fortnight later... fingers crossed!

EmLouT, good luck for today!

emalushka · 29/08/2007 12:02

Congratulations Kinki!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

amyclaramum · 29/08/2007 12:47

kinki - Congratulations ! and Welcome to the world Liam !!

Congrats too to Lou and baby Jasmine !

Dal - sorry you are having this worry about your breech baby! I sympathise completely. The consultant who tried 5 times to do an ECV on me said that turning transverse babies usually doesn't work but breech often more successful so its definitely worth trying it (maybe just once or twice !)

love to everyone else. i am typing one handed and feeding baby at same time !

ps: had 4 hours sleep last night - definitely improving!

TwitmonstEr · 29/08/2007 15:07

still in one piece.lol.

jemima, that is exactly what happened to me with ds2, without the internal. And it was 3 pushes, 1 for the baby do get down there, one for the head and one for the body.

It could happen..lol
Even though I have no reason to be I'm really fecked off now, so will go and eat something and try again later maybe.
