Hi, thought I'd start a new thread. Hope ou find this OK!

Just been shopping downtown and bought a fab paid of maternity pants for work.

Also bought "The Baby Name Wizard" as Borders were having 20% off everything. Feel free anyone to ask me a question about names now!! The book categorises them into the following "style families" (chances are if you like one name in the family, you'll like a number of others - e.g. I tend to go for "Antique Charm" names for girls which include Abigail, Adeline, AMelia, Anna. Annabel, Annalise, Ava, Bella, Clara, Daisy, Eleanor, Emma, Eva, Georgia, Grace, Hannah and Isabel):
African, Androgynous, Antique Charm, Bell tones, Biblical, Brisk and Breezy, Celtic, Charms and Graces, Country and Western, English, The -ens, Exotic Traditionals, Fanciful, French, German, Greek, Guys and Dolls, Italian, Jewish, Lacy and Lissome, Ladies and Gentlemen, Last Names First, Latino, Little Darlings, Long Gone, Mid-Century, Modern Meanings, Muslim, Mythological, Namesakes, New Classics, Nickname-Proof, Place-Names, Porch-Sitters, Saints, Scandanavian, '70s and '80s, Shakespearean, Slavic, Solid Citizens, Surfer Sixties, Timeless and Why Not?

should have read on thursday not one thursday . My typing is dire.

claraq · 01/09/2007 15:48

Hi Beachbunni - yes I am due on 1 Dec too. And finally got round to buying something for the new baby today - first thing: a snowsuit. Got it in Next; asked about swapping it up for a bigger size if necessary come December (this is for up to one month and 10lbs so should be fine BUT you never know!) and they said they probably wouldn't have any left by December! So good thing to get them now......I won't need too much more as have most things we need from DD but do need to get a few things like some new bedding and a buggy board. But biggest job between now and then is going to be getting DD's new room sorted out....

Just think - only 12 or so weeks to go!!

Thelady - your informal rota sounds very similar to how things work in our house. DH has much less tolerance for mess than I do so does more housework than me. But I hate dirty bathrooms or kitchens so that tends to be my areas. I also do almost all the shopping and cooking as I have the time.

cazzybabs · 01/09/2007 21:48

Yes - we do have an argreemnent except in the holidays were it breaks down...where dh thinks I should do everything and I think its my bloody holiday. Anyway...the joys of marriage I guess.

suey2 · 02/09/2007 13:09

hi all,
just back from my holiday and have been kept very busy catching up with you all!
bit of a shock on the scales this morning- i have managed to put on 10lb in 3 weeks! Och well, that will serve me right for having lobster every day when we were in maine- and lots of blueberry pie total weight gain now 22 lb. (26 + 2)
Bit nervous about what will meet me at work tomorrow, but looking forward to beginning to wind down after the next couple of weeks. I will be still working FT until the end of october, but just doing a greater proportion of admin so that i need to spend a minimum amount of time running the business then i am on mat leave. I am hoping to start my mat leave at 34 weeks as that will coincide with our house move, and since i have not bought anything at all for the baby I will have lots to be getting on with!

skidaddle · 02/09/2007 14:41

Hi suey2, welcome back, hope you had a great time

thelady at you DH's cousin - is that really true????

no mixedmama for a whole week - how will we cope??? Good luck with your scan mixedmama even though you won't see this!

claraq - potty training is still hard going. Don't want to give up as she is doing well but I sort of wish we'd waited now and then it would have been much easier. So in a way i would be pleased your dd isn't keen. I think the older they are when you start the easier it is.

Getting married tomorrow!!! Well just the official registry office bit tomorrow and then off to Dublin on Wednesday for the proper party. Am excited and terrified at the same time but it will be great to be an official family and to be called Mrs! Bet dd will wee all over my dress in the middle of it though....

Bouncingturtle · 02/09/2007 16:30

Suey - you are very brave - I daren't weigh myself lol
Skidaddle - congrats for tomorrow, hope you have a wonderful day

Caz10 · 02/09/2007 17:13

Wooo skidaddle - congrats!!! I have been skimming through this thread since I got back to work, and have obviously missed that that was coming up for you - how nice!! Have a brilliant day!!

skidaddle · 02/09/2007 17:25

Thanks caz10 and bouncingturtle - will report back, assuming he doesn't leave me at the non-religious-equivalent-of-an-altar... well actually if he does I will definitely report back as will be in dire need of sympathy and support...

(can you tell I'm getting just a tiny bit nervous?)

cazzybabs · 02/09/2007 19:10

skidaddle - congratulations and have a fab day. Looking forward to the photos!!!! (hint hint).

Don't stress - it will all be fine!

claraq · 02/09/2007 20:12

Congrats skidaddle - are you taking the potty with you to the wedding?!

I got married when I was pregnant last time round - it's quite a wierd thing as everyone else gets drunk except for you (although ours was a teeeny tiny event with just us and another couple as witnesses). I hope you enjoy it though and have a brilliant day.

Suey2 - I reckon I have put on about 21/22lbs too, am now 27 weeks. However, I have also just had a week away so blame the Devon cream teas and Cornish pasties...

Curlygirly · 02/09/2007 20:57

congratulations skidaddle, wishing you a wonderful day.

macdoodle · 02/09/2007 22:53

Well I have put on 24 lb and am only 23+4 ....most on my arse and boobs reckon both are bigger than my bump

PeckaRolloverAgain · 02/09/2007 23:13

Hey girls, ive been a busy bee making a blog today dedicated to pregnancy, birth, breastfeeding etc

Thread Here

blog here

Do any of you have any piccies I could use?

Lizzer · 03/09/2007 00:01

Pecka! I was thinking about your whereabouts -my, my you have been a busy girl! I'll let you have a picture when I've got something more to show, not too bumpy as yet but getting there

(Mrs) Skidaddle - Congratulations for tomorrow Enjoy the party too...

The lady I am also at your dh's cousin!

We get the keys to the first house we've ever bought tomorrow! We don't have to be out of rented til 18th oct which is a relief as it needs so much work doing to it! Dp has a team standing by to attack it with plaster, wiring and paint...luckily he's knows many reliable guys as he works in the trade and has experience project managing. I can't wait to start picking all the 'nice' bits though...

Thanks, belatedly, for all your thoughts on aquanatal classes, and LOL @ all the instructors who were bigger than the pg participants! I'm going to give it a miss until I feel properly huge and with a big bump, I'm 27w this week and swam 30 lengths today - dp informs me this is half a mile [proud emoticon]

Lizzer · 03/09/2007 00:07

Also Hi Suey2 welcome back and at blueberry pie consumption!

Loucee, glad you've got a week off, relax and enjoy

Loucee · 03/09/2007 08:23

Welcome back Suey2, hope you feel good after your hols

congratulations Skidaddle, hope you have a lovely day.

Thelady, what a fab DH you have, he sounds very considerate. Your cousins sound bizarre! Are they down south? The school year criteria is different up here from what I understand (births up until 22nd Feb meet school cut off)

Anyone else noticing the nights getting darker and mornings too? It's depressing in some sense but exciting in others as it means we're nearer to having our babies!

Christmas shopping - anyone started? Sorry if it's been mentioned before. I've got my nieces and nephews pressies now and hope to get more things this week. Next month I'm hoping to get some things for the baby but need to get all of DD's things out and sorted to see what we NEED

Hope everyone is well

MotherofZ · 03/09/2007 08:34

Morning all!!
Hope you had a lvoely weekend! It was my birthday on Sun so DH made me wonderful breakfast and took me out for am amazingly expensive meal (which I ended throwing up) .
Suey2 - I've put on 14 lbs now, my wieght gain seems to go straight to my cheeks (!) so I've got chubby cheeks now . Ohh blueberry pie sounds soooo yummy!!
Skiddadle - congratulations on your wedding. Want some pictures!!! What did you wear? (I have this weird fascination with what brides wear for their wedding).
Lizzer - congratulations on the house. Hope you get it sorted before the little one arrives. It took us 1 and half years to do out house and it was in such a bad state. It used to be occupied by some devil worshippers who had drawn some weird pictures on the wall .
Hope everyone is well.
Enjoy your 'back to school' to all the teachers!!!

thelady · 03/09/2007 10:27

Congrats on the wedding MrsSkidaddle!!

I think we're a bit further south than you, Loucee, but yes the days are definitely getting shorter and I've had to change the time that the floodlights come on twice already since the end of July.

Well, DH's mum seems to think the reason for the C-section is true, as she was told by her sister-in-law (the new baby's granny). They are down south, and I believe very much into keeping up with the Joneses. I don't know them at all, and DH has seen them at weddings only since they were children.

Ah well. Each to his own, but I don't think I'd have done it.

DH has, again, left me to lie in this morning as we only had two guests last night. [Blissed out emoticon]. He gets this silly grin on his face whenever he sees the bump, and is generally doing a wonderful job of looking after me. I'll need this break, as we're full for the next week-and-a-bit with a combination of golfers and busines travellers through the week, and lots of one-night stays at the weekend.

We need the money (paper loss last year of £25k according to the accountants this week ) so I'm hoping things keep going a bit longer than the official end of the season which is around now.

suey2 · 03/09/2007 11:02

hey thelady when did you start your business?

buzzybee · 03/09/2007 11:34

Have a fantastic day Skidaddle!! Thelady, your DH sounds fab. I don't envy you the hard work but it sounds like there are compensations in your life!!

Daylight savings here in NZ start in 3 weeks and I can't wait. The only downside is that DD can be harder to get to sleep when its light - especially when the neighbours' kids are still out playing in the back garden at 9pm...(one night last year they even had sleep outs in tents which thrilled me no end!)

Had terrible pains tonight really like period pain. Went on for over an hour so eventually took some panadol. I have had the odd braxton hick type thing but nothing that went on so long. Anyone else had this? Made me feel quite nauseous too.

buzzybee · 03/09/2007 11:37

MotherofZ, did you end up applying for that job?

OP posts:
Beanstermummy · 03/09/2007 12:28

hi guys. not been around for ages as had a long weekend last weekend in North Yorkshire (fab weather and even managed to avoid the BH crowds) and ever since it's been manic with work and general feeling of can't be arsed to do anything!!

Apologies if I have missed anything really important - had a quick flick but my brain just won't concentrate today on anything other than 'The Sun' style words - ie two or less sylables!

Generally feeling ok ish - seem to go from really good to really crap in a matter of seconds. Lack of decent sleep, horrid heartburn and painful pelvis, hips and back probably - not to mention crying at the slightest sad thing - Greys Anatomy last week - not good

Hope you all are having a jolly time - has anyone any clue when the 3rd trimester officially starts - think I'm there (at 27+3), but it would be great when every one of us here is into that last home stretch (only acceptable use of the word stretch from now on - not in any other context please)

MotherofZ · 03/09/2007 13:19

Hi beanster - Really nice of you to remember about that

Yes I did apply for the job - closing date next week and then they will contact all shortlisted condidates within 4 weeks after that. So it could be October when I find out! I was contemplating on 'hiding' my bump if I was shortlisted for an interview as I was worried about them discriminating against me - even though it's against the law it doesn't stop people from being put off from employing you. Anyway if I was shortlisted it would be October time so there is no way I'm going to be able to hide my bump - so am going to go in there and just give it my best shot, as I have said all along and seee how it goes.

MotherofZ · 03/09/2007 13:19

sorry - meant Hi buzzy

suey2 · 03/09/2007 13:38

bloody hell- i have only just found out that there is to be a 3 day tube strike starting at 4.30 pm today. oh yes, just in case some may lose their jobs due to a collapse of the maintenance company. grrrrrrr bloody RMT. last strike cost me personally c£500 in lost business and this 3 day one- i don't even know how i will get home tonight.
