Hi, thought I'd start a new thread. Hope ou find this OK!

Just been shopping downtown and bought a fab paid of maternity pants for work.

Also bought "The Baby Name Wizard" as Borders were having 20% off everything. Feel free anyone to ask me a question about names now!! The book categorises them into the following "style families" (chances are if you like one name in the family, you'll like a number of others - e.g. I tend to go for "Antique Charm" names for girls which include Abigail, Adeline, AMelia, Anna. Annabel, Annalise, Ava, Bella, Clara, Daisy, Eleanor, Emma, Eva, Georgia, Grace, Hannah and Isabel):
African, Androgynous, Antique Charm, Bell tones, Biblical, Brisk and Breezy, Celtic, Charms and Graces, Country and Western, English, The -ens, Exotic Traditionals, Fanciful, French, German, Greek, Guys and Dolls, Italian, Jewish, Lacy and Lissome, Ladies and Gentlemen, Last Names First, Latino, Little Darlings, Long Gone, Mid-Century, Modern Meanings, Muslim, Mythological, Namesakes, New Classics, Nickname-Proof, Place-Names, Porch-Sitters, Saints, Scandanavian, '70s and '80s, Shakespearean, Slavic, Solid Citizens, Surfer Sixties, Timeless and Why Not?

mixedmama · 31/08/2007 14:36

Have you tried it out yet Awen

MamaMaiasaura · 31/08/2007 14:47

I had a go, think could hear heartbeat, then lots of thumping.. think he is moving around & kicking inwards.

mixedmama · 31/08/2007 15:27

Okey dokey I am leaving at 4, so am forcing myself not to post anymore today.

I am off next week so am challenging myself to live without MN and you guys for a whole week. How I will ever catch up I have no idea.

Good luck for any impending appointments etc whilst i am away.

MotherofZ · 31/08/2007 15:31

Are you just spending time with your family or going away somewhere? Have a nice time off.

MamaMaiasaura · 31/08/2007 15:33

MotherofZ · 31/08/2007 15:34

mixedmama · 31/08/2007 15:34

This really is smy final post tho.

mimicakey · 31/08/2007 15:34

Bye mixedmama, have a nice week off, hope your scan goes well next week, you've waited long enough!

becklespeckle · 31/08/2007 16:01

Hi all! Sorry you're feeling poorly Cazzy and glad you and LO are okay after your fall Loucee!
I have to say that even though my balance is definitely a bit off I don't feel particularly heavy yet, just have uncomfortable under-bump (and sometimes inner thighs too). Mind you, I still don't seem to have put much weight on, well under a stone - had put on at least 2 with DS1 at this point but I don't think I am carrying much water (yet) with this one. I carried a lot of water everywhere (legs, bum, face) with the boys. DH is moaning as he says I have lost weight on my bum which is a huge crime in his books!

becklespeckle · 31/08/2007 16:02

Good luck with scan next week Mixedmama!

claraq · 31/08/2007 16:29

hello everyone - have been trying to catch up as have been away in Devon for a week. We were pretty lucky with the weather, had some good sunny days (and even managed a day on the beach) and no rain at all. I don't think going away with a toddler, especially when pregnant, will ever be exactly relaxing but it was a very nice holiday anyway.

There have been lots of convos I would normally join in with but you have probably all forgotten them by now as they happened days ago! However -

Skidaddle - v. that you are getting somewhere with potty training. I tried a few times but she refuses to do anything until I put her nappy back on again. Might give it another go in a few weeks time. Btw, know exactly what you mean about going abroad/on holiday with children. I have also travelled all my life and really really miss it now. I am also a keen (scuba) diver and that is something I have barely had a chance to do since becoming a mum. One day though, I keep telling myself, it WILL all get easier again!!

All the discussion about snoring made me laugh. My dh is a terrible snorer and worse than ever at the moment. I think it is because I am so restless and get up 2/3 times a night to pee so he is often in a lighter sleep than usual so snores more. I usually end up sleeping in another room now.

Can't believe I am 27 weeks tomorrow. But still seems like SUCH a long time to go.....

BeachBunni · 31/08/2007 19:37

Claraq are you due 1st Dec too?? I'm 27 wks tomorrow as well only it doesn't feel like ages away to me. I'm crapping myself at how disorganised I am and totally baffled at the choice of expressers, cots, prams there are.

happy weekend all!

I am not doing well at keeping up with the chat as can only get on at evenings and weekends now, which seems to be the exact opposite of everyone else!

buzzybee your school starting system sounds bizarre!! but then the way we do it you do end up with some scarily young children starting reception/P1. I have moved up to the middle stages this year and am really missing teaching in the infants. What stage are you cazzybabs?

Bumpwise mine is starting to feel quite heavy, like there's really something quite big in there now! MW heard the heartbeat really easily at my check up the other day, and he/she seems to move around quite a lot, so I am feeling about the most relaxed I have been since getting the BFP!

cazzybabs · 31/08/2007 21:55

I am teaching Year 1 and am quite stressed as my classroom was still having carpet fitted today as of 3pm!!!!!

The kids start on WEds and inset on Monday. I had hoped to move all my stuff in today and spent inset sorting out work!! ha ha!!!!! Nothing like last minute panic hey!

Caz10 · 31/08/2007 23:08

aaaw year 1 I am so jealous, that is what I have left, am now yr4...don't like them much so far...!

Our school was getting work done too, so last 2-3 days were ridiculous panic...getting there now..!

Loucee · 31/08/2007 23:33

Hi everyone

Thanks for your good wishes, we are both fine thank you and a lesson to me to really watch what I am doing.
I've been signed off work for a week to rest and relax, am really looking forward to it.

Mixedmama - good luck with your scan next week and enjoy your week off work. Bet you can't wait to have your family back.

Bouncingturtle Thanks for the info on giving notice about mat leave. I'll email HR Monday morning to give them my dates then (better to be safe and send them info now than risk being out of policy etc).

Hope you all have a nice weekend, we've got a quiet weekend planned as the next few are really hectic

Bouncingturtle · 01/09/2007 08:43

Glad to hear you are okay Loucee - take it easy!
Cazzy - hope you are feeling better today!

Had to laugh at that gender predictor, I got 56% girl, 43% boy, but some of the answers I made up coz wither they both applied or I hadn't a clue! I reckon the missing 1% is your chance of having a puppy lol.

buzzybee · 01/09/2007 09:55

Cazzy - did your friend have her baby on 1 Sept in the end? Fabulous first day of Spring here today. Went for long walk, feeling a bit tired now!

thelady · 01/09/2007 10:54

DH's cousin had an elective csection yesterday: "So that we don't have to pay an extra year's nursery fees" and [horror]. DHs mum can't believe they would come out and admit that as a reason!

Speaking of DHs - I have the bestest one on the planet. Not only did he tell me I didn't need to get up to help with breakfast this morning (only 4 guests) but he left me to sleep until 10am. Then he brought me freshly-squeezed orange juice to wake me up!

All together now: "aaaaaaaaaah" (or alternatively "eeeeeeeeeeeeew" )

cazzybabs · 01/09/2007 11:09

False alarm - no baby yet (unless she had a three hour labour last night).

Oh god Dh and me had a massive argument last night about bloody housework and washing up - ahhhhh. I do almost everything apart from washing up and anyway he feels like he does it all. So he ranted and ranetd about how I spent so much time on the computer (probably true) when I could be spending time doing the washing up!

I can't wait till we have a dishwasher.

thelady · 01/09/2007 11:26

cazzybabs: This is probably going to sound weird, but have you two considered an (informal) rota arrangement.

The two of us have different tolerances for mess, clutter etc. and have finally (after 10 years together) accepted that expecting the one who is less bothered by whatever-it-is to deal with it is a recipe for grumpiness.

His nibs loathes ironing (it can take him 30 mins to do a shirt which still looks crumpled) and I loathe vacuuming. Deal! Likewise, he gets completely frazzled by 'stuff' lying around, while I get frazzled if my 'stuff' has been moved and no-one knows where it is.

I do the filing. He does the everyday tidying.

I could go on and on.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that if you can work out what it is that drives each of you to snapping, then take responsibility for that one thing so that you know it's going to be done when you think it needs done, it seems to reduce the nagging and arguments a bit.

MamaMaiasaura · 01/09/2007 12:36

cazzy - me and dp had a silly argument one Thursday about housework. I had headache and felt shit so got all naggy and he was stressed and stropped. Not something happnes often so i felt a bit sit. Looking back tho I think it is normal to be more sensitive in pregnancy etc.

You should treat yourselves to a take out tonight, go eat it al fresco (if the weather holds) and then not much washing up
