Hi, thought I'd start a new thread. Hope ou find this OK!

Just been shopping downtown and bought a fab paid of maternity pants for work.

Also bought "The Baby Name Wizard" as Borders were having 20% off everything. Feel free anyone to ask me a question about names now!! The book categorises them into the following "style families" (chances are if you like one name in the family, you'll like a number of others - e.g. I tend to go for "Antique Charm" names for girls which include Abigail, Adeline, AMelia, Anna. Annabel, Annalise, Ava, Bella, Clara, Daisy, Eleanor, Emma, Eva, Georgia, Grace, Hannah and Isabel):
African, Androgynous, Antique Charm, Bell tones, Biblical, Brisk and Breezy, Celtic, Charms and Graces, Country and Western, English, The -ens, Exotic Traditionals, Fanciful, French, German, Greek, Guys and Dolls, Italian, Jewish, Lacy and Lissome, Ladies and Gentlemen, Last Names First, Latino, Little Darlings, Long Gone, Mid-Century, Modern Meanings, Muslim, Mythological, Namesakes, New Classics, Nickname-Proof, Place-Names, Porch-Sitters, Saints, Scandanavian, '70s and '80s, Shakespearean, Slavic, Solid Citizens, Surfer Sixties, Timeless and Why Not?

I love my Mum to pieces but we have a complicated relationship and I have always resisted her whenever I feel she is "prying".

Well I am having a girl!! But have heard others say the had sweet cravings and had a boy...

Congrats on the kitchen

mixedmama · 31/08/2007 09:52

All just old wives tales really. I do all the online tests and so far have come out with very good chance of a girl 100% and more recently 80% - but one of the questions is "does the maternal mother have gray hair" she didnt have gray hair with DS either.

cazzybabs · 31/08/2007 09:54

I have to go into work today too....my lasy day of holiday and because I moved classrooms I need to go and sort it out. Am wondering if dry toast would help. The sickness is abating - its the plasic cake!

My friend is 5 days overdue and had a sweep yesterday...she hasn't posted on facebook today....but I told her to hang on to the 1st...I knew he would come today.....

cazzybabs · 31/08/2007 09:55

With dd2 I had savourary cravings and she is a dd (although she is the future prop forward for the England Woman's team)

buzzybee · 31/08/2007 10:04

Cazzyb and MM you are both hilarious!!

I don't remember have such sweet cravings with DD - but this is the girl who asked to be a boy when she was 3 and is definitely very disappointed that LO will be a girl!

MM - my Mum doesn't have much gray hair but REALLY struggle to see how that could be relevant!

Hope those plastic cakes work for you CazzyB!

It is all utter rubbish, but I find it all very amusing. Even picking up your mug by the handle or the body of the mug means boy / girl- but i always pick up my mug the same way!!!

DH auntie said i must have been having a boy with DS because when i got off the sofa i put my right foot down first...... how ridiculous is that,.

MotherofZ · 31/08/2007 10:11

I've done those test too and each time they come up with 50% boy and 50% girl. Would you believe the chances!!!!!

cazzybabs · 31/08/2007 10:13

Trust me i am sure Grace is the boy we may never have.

mixedmama · 31/08/2007 10:15

Typical to be 50-50. I was always like that with DS. I dont answer all the questions, like how do I know if my abdomen looks like a watermelon or a basketball... who thought of that question?????

MotherofZ · 31/08/2007 10:22

Or how if showing your palms face up or down would affect the gender of the baby!!!

buzzybee · 31/08/2007 10:22

Cazzybabs, my step-grandmother is called Grace and will turn 103 on 17 December. If LO is born that day I feel she may well be a Grace too! (or perhaps her middle name)

OP posts:
cazzybabs · 31/08/2007 10:28

My Grace was named after my step - great grandmother or my great aunt (wierd inter-realtions in my family)

ohh Ithink my friend is in labour - may she have a long labour and have him on the 1st...please please please...

buzzybee · 31/08/2007 10:32

Why the 1st? Sorry if I've missed something!

Can someone re-post the link to the sex prediction website? I'd like to try it again now that I know!!

OP posts:
buzzybee · 31/08/2007 10:35

If it helps Cazzy, it'll be the 1st here in about 2.5 hours!!!

OP posts:
cazzybabs · 31/08/2007 10:35

Well (a) he will old in the year - better because he is a boy. When (as I am sure he will be) he is born today he will be the very youngest in the year.
(b) He will be the samr accedmic year my baby - more likely they will be friends!

cazzybabs · 31/08/2007 10:36

It is slightly selfish reasons and the cutoff for acedemic years is today.

buzzybee · 31/08/2007 10:44

OHHHHH I see. Not an issue down here as kids start school exactly the day after they turn 5 (unless its the school holidays or the weekend). Rather bizarre as it means kids join the new entrants class progressively throughout the year. They then try and sort things out at the beginning of the next year - usually roughly so that kids born before 1 July "go forward" and after 1 July "stay back" at the beginning of the next school year which is February here.

LO will be easy to categorise - she will actually start day 1 of the new school year unless she's exceptionally early, since the end of the year is the week before Xmas.

link for gender prediction

cazzybabs · 31/08/2007 10:54

you have a 43% chance of having a boy.
And you have a 56% chance of having a girl.

soo....pretty much 50-50. Right headache goin...am going to try and go to work today.

buzzybee · 31/08/2007 10:56

I came back 65% girl - but I see what you mean about the bizarre questions and the logic behind the answers. Especially since some of my answers were pretty random!

kerioke · 31/08/2007 12:27

SEEING AS WE KNOW FOR CERTAIN WE ARE HAVING ANOTHER BOY I THOUGHT I WOULD TEST THIS PREDICTION THINGY MAGIGY FOR A BIT OF FUN... IT CAME BACK SAYING 60% GIRL!! AND ONLY 39% BOY, SO AM GUESSING THERE IS A 1% CHANCE I WILL HAVE A MIXTURE???

THE REASONS FOR CONCLUDING IT WOULD BE A GIRL ARE THE SILLY ONES LIKE ME NOT EATING THE HEEL OF THE BREAD (IVE NEVER DONE THIS AS MY NAN SCARED ME OFF IT BY SAYING IT WOULD PUT HAIRS ON MY CHEST!!) AND WHY WOULD DAD HAVE GAINED WEIGHT HE ISNT PREGNANT?? AND I SHOW MY HANDS PALM SIDE UP COS I USED TO HAVE MY HAND SLAPPED AS A KID AND I WAS TAUGHT TO USE A MUG BY THE HANDLE UNLESS I WANTED TO WARM MY HANDS.... HMMMM!

HEY I GUESS IT HAS A CHANCE OF BEING RIGHT ANYWAY AND IT CERTAINLY PASSED SOME TIME LOL

mixedmama · 31/08/2007 12:54

Exactly, something to do on a Friday afternoon.

Mrswizz · 31/08/2007 13:14

Well I know I'm having a boy, and this survey thingy says 39% boy 60% girl. Worried about the missing 1%, would that mean I've got 1% chance of having nothing?

Guilt alert, in my hope of being a more yummy than scummy mummy, I've splashed out on a new handbag - fake miu miu. Yikes that's decadent! I know it will be quality though, my workmate has bought 3 from this site and they're almost better than the real thing. replicagirls.com/html/coffer.html

MamaMaiasaura · 31/08/2007 14:33

according to link I have a 34% chance of a boy and 65% chance of a girl LOL

Am having a boy tho
