Hi, thought I'd start a new thread. Hope ou find this OK!

Just been shopping downtown and bought a fab paid of maternity pants for work.

Also bought "The Baby Name Wizard" as Borders were having 20% off everything. Feel free anyone to ask me a question about names now!! The book categorises them into the following "style families" (chances are if you like one name in the family, you'll like a number of others - e.g. I tend to go for "Antique Charm" names for girls which include Abigail, Adeline, AMelia, Anna. Annabel, Annalise, Ava, Bella, Clara, Daisy, Eleanor, Emma, Eva, Georgia, Grace, Hannah and Isabel):
African, Androgynous, Antique Charm, Bell tones, Biblical, Brisk and Breezy, Celtic, Charms and Graces, Country and Western, English, The -ens, Exotic Traditionals, Fanciful, French, German, Greek, Guys and Dolls, Italian, Jewish, Lacy and Lissome, Ladies and Gentlemen, Last Names First, Latino, Little Darlings, Long Gone, Mid-Century, Modern Meanings, Muslim, Mythological, Namesakes, New Classics, Nickname-Proof, Place-Names, Porch-Sitters, Saints, Scandanavian, '70s and '80s, Shakespearean, Slavic, Solid Citizens, Surfer Sixties, Timeless and Why Not?

I've been naughty and had it though

Mrswizz · 30/08/2007 11:43

And neither you or the baby have been harmed, hmmm.. perhaps I could have just one slice...

becklespeckle · 30/08/2007 12:37

I want peanutbutter too! Been craving for it on toast but have been good and resisted...

kerioke · 30/08/2007 12:42

I've continued to eat peanut butter throughout the pregnancy. no one in the family suffers from this allergy and i feel that a little now and again may help build a resistance to it... if i'm advised against foods during pregnancy due to allergy i still have a wee bit on ocassion, though if i'm advised against due to disease etc then i do stay away... i love brie and am gutted its a no no!

i have been extremely uncomfortable the last few days... i feel full and bloated, lots of pressure on my hips and pelvis and am so emotional.. broke down last night and thgouh there was no way i could carry on for another 16 weeks or so, but feel brighter today and no i will carry on for as long as this baby needs me too!

i see the physio this week again and am hoping to get crutches to help with the SPD as well as the hip brace, perhaps if the strain is relieved in the day i may sleep easier??

still no closer to name choosing, dp loves Vann, I love Logan, and we both like Eden though we would prefer that for a girl... my theory is that if i hold out and dont agree to anything i will get my way once i have been through the labour! lol

wow i am chatty today! can you tell i dont get out much any more??

think i remember reading on here about weightloss etc?? i am considering going to one of the paul mckenna weightloss days after i have had bub... i want to shift the extra pounds i was already carrying as well as any baby weight... i cant stick to diets as such, though i can eat healthily, my problem is lack of activity! maybe his hypnotherapy will kick me into shape!

Nbg · 30/08/2007 12:48

Fab name choices Kerioke.

I love Vann and Eden. Gorgeous.
How do you pronounce Vann? Is it just Van or V-aaah-n?

insywinsyspider · 30/08/2007 13:02

hello

I'm doing aquanatal - not exactly a work out (always worrying when the person running the class is bigger than you!) but I don't get any opportunity to work out apart from running around after ds so its actually an excuse to bob around in the water - it really helps my back ache and meet other mums - its a bit cliche and I spent the first session trying in vain to get people to talk to me but they seem to get into their couples really quickly and its hard to get a word it but hopefully it'll get better... its on tonight but I really need to clean the house in laws coming tomorrow and don't want them to see it in a state although I can't be bothered....

Peanut butter... god are we meant to be avoiding nuts?? I'm such a bad mum I'm still eating peanut butter and did with ds, is it just an allergy thing? I also did have a prawn sandwich the other day - baby made me do it, I was practically dreaming about one and had to give in

thelady · 30/08/2007 15:16

kerioke: you make me feel less of a wuss - thank you! I got to the top of the stairs for the 5th time this morning and just sat and cried.... It's very much along the lines of "If I'm finding it this hard at 26 weeks, how on earth am I going to survive the rest?" - and all I've got to deal with are horribly swollen feet, tiredness, and a belly that's as tight as a drum.

Ho hum.

DH stripped and made all the beds today, and cleaned the baths and did the vacuuming. I did dishes, tea/coffee trays, and the rest of the bathrooms - and I'm flattened .

I've raided the chocolate ice-cream tub, and hope to get an hour to put my feet up before dinner service starts this evening.

Loucee · 30/08/2007 15:33

Hi

Talking of point of balance I fell over this morning I was just walking along a pavement and whoosh down I went. Haven't had the stinging feeling in my hands for years. Went along to get baby checked out as a precaution and thank goodness no harm done.

I went along to the aquanatal this week and totally agree what everyone has said before: tutor was far bigger than the pregnant lady due on Sunday, ladies had their wee group and not that open to newbies, pool was very old and so, so cold, brrr even the showers after weren't any better so I had a hot chocolate in starbucks afterwards (oh dear, undoing all that good work!) However, my calves hurt the next day so I will go back as it did obviously work me out a bit. Felt so good to be in the water as well but boy did I feel it when I got out - felt twice as heavy (doesn't bear thinking about how that will feel when I'm further on!)

Does anyone know, do you have to confirm your mat leave start date around 25wks pregnant or has the law changed to make it just 28 days notice? I think I misread my works policy as the earlier is what I had to do with DD but the latter is what it says now?

On the peanutbutter front, I avoided peanuts with DD but this time round I have had the odd peanut and the odd slice of toast with it. The MW explained that if you've got a history of nut allergy in the family or if your family as a big exczema/asthma history then to avoid them as it increases the chance of baby developing the allergy so like Kerioke I figure everything in moderation since we don't have that in the family.

Mrswizz · 30/08/2007 15:36

Good for you Thelady, feet up with a tub of icecream is just what the doc ordered. I don't know how you and others in your business do it whilst pg - such an energetic job. I can do the housework at home but not without extra puffing, blowing and grunting. At least at my job I sit on my bum all day - and in the summer silly season it's quiet. Sitting has its drawbacks too though, my chair is so uncomfortable - doesn't help the pelvic aches.

thelady · 30/08/2007 16:04

I'm thinking about getting one of these cushions for all the time I spend at the computer doing paperwork....

Mrswizz · 30/08/2007 16:21

Hmm, that looks good Thelady - anything to help my aching bones. I'd love to be able to have weekends off from being pregnant - or a pregnancy holiday when I can run around and feel light on my feet again.

cazzybabs · 30/08/2007 17:25

I am avioding peanuts as I had excema as a child. I also avioded various food groups when weaning until a year too. However, I have eaten brie and all sorts of cheesy yummy no nos this time!

AHHH - hoe do I get my childrne to tidy their rooms without doing it for them! I cannot bear it. I am knacked - went into towm to see my friend who is over from NZ.

Bouncingturtle · 30/08/2007 21:13

Loucee - hope you are okay!
Just got my letter from HR and they have requested written confirmation before week 25 and I have to give them 28 days notice if I want to change it.
beckle - yes I too waddle due to pain in hips and lower back
I eat crunchy nut cornflakes - no family history of any allergies apart from a few hayfever sufferers. I'm not overly worried.
Thelady - that cushion looks like a fab idea - i wouldn't mind one myself!

skidaddle · 30/08/2007 21:50

hi all,

dp is away at the moment so it's great to come online and read about what you've all been up to - makes me feel a bit less lonely!

Running rounds after a potty-training toddler is sooo exhausting on your own, especially as I took her all the way to Edinburgh to go to the zoo yesterday (spent A LOT of the time in the toilets while she sat on her potty). Seems to be going well though and dp is back tomorrow thank goodness

I've been eating peanuts, brie, all sorts this time round, think it is fine and am much more relaxed than last time when i followed all government guidelines to the tee.

thelady - you sound knackered, you poor thing. If you can I think you should sit back as much as possible and let your dh do most of the work. And ice-cream always a winner as well of course.

I have also been a bit tearful this week - maybe there's a hormonal rush or something around this time if a lot of us are feeling like this? An entire bar of Lindt chocolate seemed to have helped this evening though...

Was going to try aquanatal classes as well but don't know if I will now after hearing all your stories - they sound awful!!!

mixedmama · 31/08/2007 07:28

Anybody around am on the early early shift today.

Again life pretty much plodding along. Getting aches by my ribs and am generally uncomfy around bump. Was sick again last night, had to actually get off the bus as I thought I was goign to vomit there and then. getting really narked about sickness.

Anyone got anything nice planned for the weekend? My parents are finally back from hols on Saturday. Dad been gone 2 months and mum 6 weeks so off to airport on Saturday and then everyoone (cousins etc) round mine for lunch etc. am off next week for MW appointment and scan FINALLY.

buzzybee · 31/08/2007 08:31

I'm here in New Zealand MixedMama!! Sounds like you'll have a lovely family weekend.

Sorry to hear you're still being sick. My worst is feeling faint in crowded places. Bump si starting to get quite uncomfortable too at the end of a hard day.

My weekend looking pretty quiet at the moment. Probably head down to my favourite cafe for brunch and to read the paper tomorrow - DD is with her Dad this weekend. Need to do a bit of work on Sunday at the office - high excitement!!

mixedmama · 31/08/2007 08:52

Nice to have a relaxing one as well though isnt it. My family have all been away throughout the summer and my folks are the last to filter back, so feels like life is regaining some normality again.

buzzybee · 31/08/2007 08:59

I see you post on the New Year thread as well - maybe I should join you there if there are a few more earlybirds there!! Pushing it a bit for me though to say due in the New Year when its officially 23 December

Yes it is nice to have a quiet weekend occasionally. Only problem for me is that my Mum always probes to see what I'm up and if its "not much" then she tries to rush around and help me with something! She lives about a 30 min drive away...

OP posts:
mixedmama · 31/08/2007 09:01

Conversation seems to be alot more active on New Year thread I find, mainly cos we all just try to avoid doing any work alot more.

buzzybee · 31/08/2007 09:02

Just pigged out on TWO bowls of ice cream and chocolate sauce!! Now feel like some fruit so have opened a can of peaches - my main craving this PG has been for sweet things when I'm normally not a sweet freak...

OP posts:
mixedmama · 31/08/2007 09:06

Sweet is supposed to equal girlie. Although Awen threw that theory right out the window. we have allt he same cravings and scan said a boy, my scan next week so will see then.

MotherofZ · 31/08/2007 09:10

I thinkit's lovely that your mum can pop by, mine is to far away.....

mixedmama · 31/08/2007 09:14

I tend to be the one calling my mum on Saturdays and seeing what she is doing, but I know sometimes you can get too much of a good thing.

cazzybabs · 31/08/2007 09:47

I feel sick today and have a headache...am lying in bed whils the dds make me cups of tea and bring pretend food - nice! Lucky I don't feel too bad lying on my side with MN on!!!

We have decided on a kitchen - not my dream dream one but expensive enough.

mixedmama · 31/08/2007 09:50

Sorry to hear you are not feeling well Cazzy - so sweet DDs are looking after you.
