@chocolate26 - not too bothered about the weight gain tbh. Not much I can do about it - I’m not eating crap (well, have probably had a bit more chocolate than usual but then I’m not sinking two bottles of wine at the weekend like I was pre-pregnancy so that probably balances out) and I’m active - walk my dog every day, most days do 12000+ steps and trying to go swimming or exercise class a couple of times per week so I’m just trying to accept its health weight gain. The main issue is clothes - most of mine are tight now but I have shopping and see it as a waste of money as anything I buy now probably won’t fit in a couple of months either and hopefully post baby I’ll go back to my normal size so won’t wear anything I buy now again/until I have another baby assuming fashion stays the same and the clothes I buy now will be ‘in’ then.

hjbows88 · 16/12/2019 16:06

Hate shopping that should say!!

Smiffette · 16/12/2019 16:42

@hjbows88 oh I know, my clothes are just starting to get a bit tight. At weekends I'm living in leggings and stretchy tops. Luckily my work skirts are stretchy waist and tops loose fit so I'm hoping I can wait until January to buy a couple new bits

peetieswie · 16/12/2019 19:18

Argh, I've been in maternity clothes for two weeks and I'm not even 14 weeks yet! 😬

APD1981 · 16/12/2019 19:31

I'm living in maternity leggings and my regular jumpers at the mo. Having to be rather casual at work! I think after Christmas I'll look for some maternity jeans and a pair of work trousers to keep me going. Hoping to get some Boxing Day bargains. My belly had really popped today. It's firmed up, too. I'm 15+1

AndddddHerewegoagain · 16/12/2019 19:55

@peetieswie i was the same! (18 weeks now) went into maternity clothes around 12-13 weeks though the bump seems to have settled a bit.

Weight gain is meant to be 1-2lbs a week from the second trimester onwards. But from my first pregnancy i found i had hungry days and less hungry days.

Bump also dependent on anterior or posterior placenta. I had a small pointy bump first time where my son was always at the front. This one i feel much more towards my back and bump is more round

BabyBird20 · 16/12/2019 22:44

I've gained far too much weight as was previously doing really well on slimming world and eating really healthily. As soon as I got pregnant I went off fruit and just wanted biscuits, toast, any carbs and chocolate for 3 months!!😬😬 I'm 14 weeks today and need to get some maternity wear ASAP I think!

chocolate26 · 17/12/2019 07:43

Is there anyone on here who's having their first baby and already has or had a noticeable bump by 13 weeks? This is my first baby and I'm 13+3, I definitely have a bump now! You can notice it even when I'm wearing a baggy top. I've always read that with first babies you don't tend to show until quite late! My mum was telling me that when she was pregnant with me she didn't show until she was 5/6 months!! Confused

APD1981 · 17/12/2019 07:47

Yes, me. I'm a FTM too and started to 'thicken' around my middle from about 9 weeks. I think to the untrained eye I probably look like I've gained weight on my tummy, but those who know I'm pregnant can tell it's a bump. I take a weekly progree photo but, as I use the app, it never uploads photos when I try!

cookingbabydunc · 17/12/2019 07:56

Hi, I'm new to the group. 16 weeks pregnant with number 2. Had my 16 week appointment last week and heard heart beat which was great!
Definitely showing and cracked the maternity jeans out last week although despite my usual jeans being way too small they are a still a bit too big! Hard to get it right!!
I'm feeling very tired at the moment but it's hard to know what's pregnancy related and what's due to the general madness of this time of year?
With my first pregnancy I showed early, a tiny bulge by 10 weeks! I think everyone is really different on he rate at which they show. Definitely nothing to worry about and I didn't end up too massive by the end of that pregnancy! Hope everyone is doing ok? Bit late to the party to trawl back over the 100's of messages

Zoey92 · 17/12/2019 08:48

Not really much of a bump atm, i know i have an anterior placenta wondering if that's why (FTM)

Day 2/9 in salons craziest time of year & i was in bed by 8pm last night 🤦‍♀️ i can see this week being a struggle. On plus side my appetite is definitely on the up

13+2

APD1981 · 17/12/2019 12:39

I had my 16 week midwife appt today . I'm only 15+2 though as it was rescheduled from next week. She asked if I want her to try and find a heartbeat but it's a bit early so she might not be able to and wouldn't want me to be upset if it wasn't there. I asked her to try and she found a really strong heartbeat straight away! She said a good heartbeat like that is a very good sign! I'm so happy. She let me take a recording of it :)

AmyMaria2 · 17/12/2019 13:41

@APD1981 that's so lovely, congratulations! Can't wait to hear babys heart beat. My appointment is next Monday, day after my gender scan. All coming just before Christmas. Fingers crossed everything is okay x

@chocolate26 first baby and definitely have a bump, 16 weeks tomorrow but I think my tummy popped around 13/14 weeks! X

APD1981 · 17/12/2019 17:23

Thanks @Amymaria2 I've been on such a high all day because of it! And it was so reassuring what she said. All my bloods, urine, and BP were fine and I asked her if there any potential for a water birth in hospital and she said definitely! That made me so happy as I'm a proper water baby and find it very therapeutic.

I hope all goes well on Monday with you but you have your exciting gender scan first!! X

AmyMaria2 · 17/12/2019 20:00

@APD1981 aw so glad to hear it! It's so reassuring when they confirm everything's okay, i was thinking about looking into a water birth, yes can't wait for the gender scan!! x

15+6

Blizy · 17/12/2019 20:47

I had my dating scan today, my due date has been put back 6 days, so I'm I now due on 1st July. However I will deliver at 38 weeks by elcs. I had my NT measurements also, it measured 2.9mm and I'm panicking a little as it's a bit in the higher end. My first born daughter (who was sadly stillborn) had ds and I'm very anxious.

AmyMaria2 · 17/12/2019 21:39

@Blizy mine was 2.30 I was worried, it came back fine and low risk, I hope yours is the same. Sorry to hear that about your daughter 😔 what was her measurements? x

BabyBird20 · 17/12/2019 22:06

@Blizy Mine came back 2.7 so was put in the 'higher risk' category based on that, my age (36) and the bloods. I was given odds 1:102 so went and had the Harmony test to be more sure and am still waiting on the results feeling rather anxious but trying to be positive. The midwife I spoke to said anything over 3.5 is the 'high risk' and between 2.5 and 3.5 was only 'higher risk' if that makes sense? Anything under 2.5 is low risk. I'll be thinking of you! Did they say you'd get a call with your results? Xx

APD1981 · 17/12/2019 22:18

@Blizy I don't have any advice really, I just wanted to send my support and positive vibes. Like others have said, it's still on the lower side so try not to worry too much (I really should heed my own advice there!). And I'm so sorry about your daughter x

Blizy · 17/12/2019 22:26

AmyMaria I dint have the NT scan with my dd as it wasn't introduced until a while after her birth (she was born 2011)
I'm more anxious because of my age, I'm 38.
I'm sure my ds's NT measurement was 1.3, he will be 5 in January.

Blizy · 17/12/2019 22:29

Babybird that makes perfect sense. Have you had your NIPT Results? If my screening results come back with a high risk I'm most definitely doing a NIPT, I'm really not keen on the amino or cvs.

UKtoSK · 17/12/2019 22:29

Hi everyone, I’m new to this thread, but it’s great reading about everyone’s pregnancies and seeing people experiencing the same things as me. I am 12+4 due June 27th with my first.

I am from the UK but live abroad and it’s really interesting to see how differently things are done there. I have had so many scans already (more than usual for here even because of some spotting and concerns of an ectopic). I am also really surprised to see that they don’t expect to hear a heartbeat before 16 weeks in the UK, we heard ours at 6 weeks.

I don’t have a bump yet other than bloat, especially by the end of the day, but I haven’t been able to comfortably wear my jeans for weeks now so switched to maternity jeans this week and they’re sooo comfortable! Especially when I sit down, when everything sort of seems to squish together and outwards.

Next appointment is January 11 at 16 weeks and hoping to find out the gender! Anyone else think pregnancy slows down time beyond belief??

MissisBee · 17/12/2019 22:51

Hi. 14 weeks tomorrow and the nausea seems to have lifted the last couple of days. Fingers crossed it's not temporary. I'm positive I've been feeling movement for a week or two. I thought I was going crazy as I didn't think it would be possible. But I felt movement from 16 weeks with my first, and they say you can feel it earlier with second babies. 16 week appointment is 1st week of January. I think it's the same midwife I had last time, so will be nice to see her. I'll be consultant care after that, so probably won't see her again until baby's here

BabyBird20 · 18/12/2019 22:24

@blizy I got my results today and they've put me low risk, 1:10,000!! Absolutely over the moon and feel like I can start enjoying this pregnancy a bit more now! Also found out I'm having a boy!! 😍😍😍

RPPs · 18/12/2019 22:25

Hi Ladies
Just wanted to clarify, do we get a scan at the 16 week midwife appointment?
Im 15 weeks tomorrow so have to wait until after NY. Desperate to see the baby again.

Has anyone felt movement yet. I know its super early but Im feeling it for a seconf time this week. Feels like a bubble moving around. Dont worry if you aren't as Ive read its mostly felt after 18 weeks.
