That is good news! My midwife put my age as one of the minor risk factors on my notes!! That with a couple of other things means I get a couple of extra scans though which is good!

peetieswie · 08/12/2019 21:40

Have most people's sickness eased off now? I swear mine is getting worse not better. Definitely more hungry though and waking up in the night to eat quite often. Any advice on snacks? I'm eating tonnes of tea cakes at the moment which I'm sure aren't great.

Smiffette · 09/12/2019 05:32

@peetieswie yes mines definitely eased off thankfully although was replaced with headaches for a short while.
I just keep eating marmite toast! I keep wanting warm snacks which isn't easy at work! I'm hoping come the warmer months I'll be able to reach for fruit and yogurt and be as satisfied!

2Bubbas · 09/12/2019 10:08

Peetieswie I still too suffer from sickness, literally nauseous ALL day long! Nothing seems to take that nauseous taste out of my mouth, and nothing seems to take the edge of it either. I've generally been living off toast, bagels and crisps 😭.

Evenings are the worst as I feel to throw up after my evening meal.

Really hating this stage of pregnancy, and I cannot wait until it's all over and I can actually begin to enjoy my pregnancy.

How is everyone else's sickness? Has it subsided yet?

billericaymumtobe · 09/12/2019 10:27

Hi all, thought I'd join in and introduce myself. I'm currently 13+4 and had my first scan last week. It's going to be my and DH's first baby and we're both very excited. I'm 33 so a little worried about my age though reassurance I found it this thread helps. 1st trimester symptoms have mostly eased off and I'm looking forward to the next few months which are apparently meant to be the best?

Smiffette · 09/12/2019 12:43

Personal question, feel free not to answer!

Is anyone worried about their weight gain in the first trimester?
I don't know if I'm being paranoid and reading online what the average is probably doesn't help!

I'm 5ft 8.5in, was a size 12 pre pregnancy although BMI was 25.9 so slightly over. I'm 14 weeks today and have put on 7lbs.

I read that you put on the most in the second trimester.... I guess I'm overly worried about gestational diabetes as well as my eating has changed a bit because I've just gone off some things.

AmyMaria2 · 09/12/2019 12:57

Congratulations @billericaymumtobe!

@Smiffette I was worried as I'm usually a foodie but I've hardly put any weight on yet if any at all, I'm 5"6 and 14+5, I'm hoping I will start putting weight on in second trimester. I am still worried about the diabetes as I've been eating awful things whatever I've felt like lol. I don't think you've put to much on or not enough at this stage! x

Smiffette · 09/12/2019 13:38

@AmyMaria2 aww I've not been eating as well as I should! my Dad was diagnosed with diabetes a few years ago so I have to be tested at 26 weeks I think it is

APD1981 · 09/12/2019 14:56

@smiffette I feel the same as you. Was a size 12 when I got pregnant and my BMI was just under 26 I think. However, when I got weighed on ancient mechanical scales at my booking appointment they added nearly a stone to my actual weight. I was mortified, not least because in the last few years I've lost over 11 stone in weight! Seeing the scales falsely go up was hard. I told the MW that the scales are massively wrong but she still recorded my start BMI as over 27 :( I was gutted. I have found I'm absolutely starving all the time at the moment. I'm eating a mixture of healthy and unhealthy, but just loads in quantity. If I get hungry I feel very nauseous so just have to eat. I'm very scared about my weight going up too high and also diabetes. I have PCOS so I have to have a glucose test anyway.

The mental side of seeing the scales go up and my body change again is really hard for me after successfully losing so much weight. It's a really hard adjustment to make.

QforCucumber · 09/12/2019 16:09

I'm 7lbs heavier at 14 weeks, I really don't care though haha. I've had 2 losses in the last 2 years and if putting on weight means I have a healthy baby then bring it on :)

NT measurement was 2.8mm here at 13 weeks, scan was Tuesday - was advised if high risk I'd have a call within 2 days and have not heard anything so therefore assuming low risk and nothing to worry about.

peetieswie · 09/12/2019 18:42

Waiting for results from bloods and I accidentally deleted an answerphone message I hadn't listened to now. Freaking out it was about them! I can't get the message back so I'm hoping they'll call back if it is regarding bloods but it was an unknown number so I've got no idea.

Also waiting on news of my best friend. She was induced on Saturday but haven't heard anything and dont want to bug her but dying to hear.

Smiffette · 09/12/2019 19:14

@peetieswie if you have an iPhone there is a deleted section at the end of the voice mail list! I'm sure other mobiles would have the same.

peetieswie · 09/12/2019 19:32

I have a Samsung, and I don't think I can get it back. I'm gonna have to wait and see.

BabyBird20 · 09/12/2019 20:31

Has anyone on here had the NIPT tests? I've had the call I really didn't want to say I'm in the higher risk category for Downs. Really want to avoid the invasive tests if I can so looking at the private options! Just don't know where to start and getting myself incredibly worried!!

AmyMaria2 · 10/12/2019 00:40

@BabyBird20 sorry to hear that, I've not had the test, I didn't realise there is private options, go for whatever you're most comfortable with and hopefully everything will be okay x

14+6

Mj2196 · 10/12/2019 09:25

@BabyBird20 did they say what your risk number was ? And I’m not sure if it’s an option for you but maybe you could look into the harmony test? is rather expensive But obviously is non invasive ..I hope everything is okay for you love x

QforCucumber · 10/12/2019 10:02

@BabyBird20 is the Harmony test available locally to you? It's not invasive and gives the best results.

I got my letter yesterday advising 1:850 for downs and 1:27,000 for the other 2.

QforCucumber · 10/12/2019 15:33

Had my consultant appointment today, been offered a 16 week scan - on Xmas eve. I will be so nervous.

Smiffette · 10/12/2019 18:19

Just got home to my combined test result letter. So surprised I only had the scan last Wednesday!
All low risk so happy with that DS 1:6227 and the other two: 1:20000.
My NT measurement was 1.40mm

billericaymumtobe · 10/12/2019 19:06

@Smiffette I got mine through the post today too and also had the scan last Wednesday. Mine are 1:10000 for both so pleased with it. Your 1:6227 sounds very precise, wonder how they do the calculations?

BabyBird20 · 10/12/2019 19:25

Thanks ladies, mine was 1:102 and anything under 1:150 is considered high risk! The midwives were so lovely but completely freaked me out with info about options and testing and a charity called ARC to help with decisions!! 😩😩 We've had a look round and found a NIPt test an hour away from us in Swindon which we're going for tomorrow!! Its way too much money but can't take the risk with the invasive ones now I know this one is available!!

Smiffette · 10/12/2019 19:30

@BabyBird20 fingers crossed it will all be fine. My friend had that too and opted for the blood test, she went to a place in Bridgwater which was closest too her. It came back no longer high risk so totally put her at ease.

@billericaymumtobe glad yours came back good too!

AmyMaria2 · 10/12/2019 20:59

My DS one was 1:1455 they say low risk, although a lot of other people's 'low risk' numbers are a lot higher than mine, hope it's still okay. The other one was 1:27000 x

14+6

QforCucumber · 10/12/2019 21:18

@AmyMaria2 my DS is 1:850 and still seemed low risk :)

APD1981 · 10/12/2019 22:06

@Babybird20 I'm sorry you've had this news but I just wanted to say that most people who are given your stats with not have a DS baby. And you can also get false positives. I can't imagine how worried you are but at least you're having the NIPT tomorrow so you don't have to wait too long for further information. Wishing you lots of luck and sending love x
