I felt so crap at work today I've gone home and had to tell my boss Im pregnant. Wanted to hold off a bit longer but needs must!

mrsc1987 · 23/10/2019 16:25

So many cramps today and a litle backache, so worrying... i have my first midwife appointment tomorrow so a little nervous about it really, will check with her about the cramps and back ache as they seem to be happening quite a bit, i know I've read its all normal but cant help but worry every time it happens I'm sitting here thinking it's all over.. i never knew pregnancy was so stressful

BudgieBird · 23/10/2019 16:36

@Bearytired - sorry you're going through that. I'm on Prozac and both my gyno and my psychiatrist said that it's safe in pregnancy. Sertraline is safe too. Seroxat is the one you want to stay away from. Are Prozac or Sertraline options for you?

MsMiaWallace · 23/10/2019 16:57

So I told my manager at work today & she was amazing.
It's going to be difficult hiding it from my colleagues though as I'm on restricted duties. We're gonna say I've got a bad back

Jemstar33 · 23/10/2019 20:00

Hi all hope everyone’s ok. I’m 8+3 today and no sickness either just waves of nausea. My only real symptom is tiredness I could sleep standing up! Also my belly has defo popped. I’m slim so it’s become obvious and I’ve noticed people staring at work.

Any of the ‘already mums’ have any tips on maternity clothes. When should I start buying/ how big do you buy? So wish I could go to work in my comfy pjs!

@BudgieBird congratulations! I’m having twins too and got pregnant through clomid after 20 months and 1 MC.
I haven’t heard heartbeats yet but have seen them beating on two scans at 6 and 8 weeks. I’m obsessed with talking to them already lol.

Jemstar33 · 23/10/2019 20:05

@Bearytired I’m struggling with anxiety. I’m so worried that something bad will happen that i work myself up and I do the same thinking they’ll be blood etc. I hope you get in with your doc soon.

MamaPeas · 23/10/2019 20:09

Hey lovelies, can't believe we are on thread number 2! I'm not very active here, sorry. Just to say had to lock down the Facebook group an extra later as we were getting so weird join requests. I know a few people were waiting until 12 weeks. When you are ready, drop an email to me at [email protected] and I can send an invite.

In other news......whoever came up with "morning" sickness is a liar 🤢

MsMiaWallace · 23/10/2019 21:36

@Jemstar33 I'm the same as you!! I keep thinking the worst.
I'm considering paying for an early scan?

This is my 3rd btw. It doesn't get any easier!

rampantrose · 23/10/2019 21:47

What wonderful news @BudgieBird xx @Bearytired my anxiety is through the roof. I actually try avoiding going toilet as I'm too scared incase I bleed again this time. It's a horrible feeling. @MamaPeas I shall give you an email soon as I'm much more active on my facebook and totally agree. I feel so rough especially afternoons and evenings yet okay in the morning lol xx

MissisBee · 23/10/2019 22:00

@Jemstar33 I found new look good for maternity clothes, only problem is, so few shops have them in stock and I don't like buying online. Also, if you have a Lidl handy, keep an eye on when they have maternity clothes in - I got a dress and joggers there last time and they were the comfiest things.
I started wearing maternity jeans around Christmas last time (around 14 weeks, will be the same this time round) and just bought my usual size.

Bearytired · 23/10/2019 22:00

Thanks everyone for being so supportive and I’m so glad it’s not just me. Here’s hoping for all of us to be sitting here smiling with bouncing healthy babies in a year’s time and realising all the worry was for nothing 🤞🏻

Jemstar33 · 24/10/2019 08:14

@MsMiaWallace I’ve had two early scans and it’s just making me want more lol! Wow your 3rd congratulations xxx

@MissisBee thanks so much, I usually always shop on ASOS and have noticed the new look maternity clothes they seem to be fairly reasonable too. I’m going to wait for sales and stock up. I think my 12 weeks I will be out of most of my trousers xxx

Kez437 · 24/10/2019 08:47

Just checking in! I'm so bloated I'm basically out of my work trousers already, they are so uncomfortable! Adopting the swing and wrap dresses look and praying no one notices. I'm up for promotion in January and I don't want to jeopardise it so hoping to keep quiet until 20th January or so by which time I'll be 20 weeks! Not going to lie, the idea of having to hide it so long is giving me anxiety. Anyone else in or been in this position before?

Anny27 · 24/10/2019 09:38

@jemstar33 and @budgiebird thats so cool that you are both having twins so you can share any twin specific questions :D

Getting a bit nervous and excited about my scan tomorrow. Its not till the evening so have to wait all day haha

@Kez437 I know the feeling! Getting dressed in the morning is very much a case of ‘try on 5 dresses asking DH if I look preg and taking them off when he says ‘errr’. Got a nice Hobbs wraparound black and white spotty dress on eBay for £20 so going to be living in that for a while - pattern distracts I’ve found!

Realised I didn’t reply to you @BudgieBird - sorry! Yes, Sertraline is apparently safe but I had such an absolute nightmare coming off my anti depressants that I’m really wary of starting anything else. Plus with the amount of symptoms I’ve got at the moment I think one more would send me straight to bed. But it’s def not to be ruled out if needs must - thanks for your caring response.
Scan (private to assuage some anxiety) and booking in appt (NHS) in a week, Eeep!

Hi all.

Not much nausea here. I do find though that if I am hungry then I feel dreadfully sick until I eat, this baby is hungry! lol

Starting to get headache and the boob pain is ... something else.

mrsc1987 · 24/10/2019 12:18

I had my first midwife appointment this morning and she was lovely, i have a higher bmi so will be consultant lead but this also means i get 2 extra scans in my pregnancy so i cant complain at that. Took urine and blood samples and sooo much info given, instead of putting me at 6+2 like I think i am shes put me at 7+1 because they go on a text book 28 day cycle but im ok with that as it will bring me scan forward a bit hehe so exciting

BudgieBird · 24/10/2019 13:53

As much as I wanted to get pregnant sooner, I now think June is the perfect time to have my babies - second and part of third trimester will be the type of weather where I can cover up the bump with big loose jumpers and wear long skirts over support tights. Then when the really hot weather comes about, the babies will already be here - no sweating buckets on the train to work because I'll be on my maternity leave. Ace!

MilsCookie · 24/10/2019 14:02

Hey all 👋

@Anny27 no nose bleeds but I have had a UTI the past few days. Luckily I brought the pregnancy safe antibiotic (nitrofurantoin) with me on my travels so I’ve been taking that! I also pee about 20 times a day (no exaggeration!)

@Vilanelle oh my god the boob pain... the boob pain!! I find that during the day they are tender to touch but not too bad. It’s when I stand up after lying down i.e. when I wake up first thing in the morning or after having a nap! I’ve never felt anything like it!! 😖

Vilanelle · 24/10/2019 14:18

@MilsCookie turning over at night gets me! I have bruises all over them!

MissisBee · 24/10/2019 15:58

I happened to buy a nice weekend pinafore dress just before I found out I'm pregnant. It's nice and loose, so I think that'll be my work uniform for the next while!
I've also just been offered an additional role within my work. Had applied for it ages ago, hadn't heard anything, so I assumed I hadn't got it, then got an email last week. Probably won't start until December, so I don't feel in a rush to tell them. I do want to tell my own manager sooner rather than later, so she can get cover sorted. We've only just got back to normal after being short-staffed for ages, so I do feel a bit bad about it.

MissisBee · 24/10/2019 16:05

By weekend pinafore dress, I mean wee pinafore dress!!

AmyMaria2 · 24/10/2019 23:58

I went from not being able to stay awake past 8pm to having such insomnia! Not sure which is worst. At least I'm not working mornings atm!
