I am considering this coat - www.mothercare.com/maternity-coats/mamalicious-mix-maternity-jacket/LVH036.html?cgid=mat_coats#start=2

Looks warmish and also adjustable so you can wear it with or without bump.

Pastnowfuture · 09/11/2019 11:26

@mintbear I'm at a similar point to you. 15+5. Have decided the 'glow' is a myth. On top of daily vomiting and nausea I have dry skin, mouth ulcers, nose bleeds and cold sores. There is definately no glowing going on here Hmm. Hope you scan goes well today Smile

Pastnowfuture · 09/11/2019 11:32

@RacBell Hope you feel better soon. This is my first pregnancy and I have HG. I've found it really quite traumatic so I totally admire you for having a second child. I'm at the point where I think I could never face this experience again, although people do tell me that much like childbirth the horror of HG will ease once I have my baby boy in my arms.

RacBell · 09/11/2019 14:46

@Pastnowfuture thank you, this is actually my third child. I didn’t have 1 day of sickness with my first but never had a single day off with my second. Both boys. I honestly forgot how hard it is feeling this constant nausea, the loneliness and isolation from the outside world is awful. I have to lie in bed for hours my poor children and husband can’t even talk to me because even speaking makes me vomit 😞 it is getting abit better to handle though. I hope you feel better soon too, good job we have other mums on here who understand what we’re going through. People just think oh it’s only MS but it’s a whole other level with HG x

fluffyunicorns86 · 09/11/2019 16:36

Glad I am not the only one with all the worries I am always here for anyone. We can all help each other through this.

woollycat · 10/11/2019 06:36

Every time I think sickness is getting better, it comes straight back. 12w today, was hoping that was it but just threw up this morning 😕 just hope it doesn't ruin my plans of going back to work tomorrow.

Any scans tomorrow? I have mine at 4pm!

slowrunningteacher · 10/11/2019 08:09

I'm also 12 weeks today @woollycat! I have to wait until Thursday for my scan. Good luck tomorrow.
Sorry to hear that you're still suffering from sickness. I haven't really had that at all - just extreme exhaustion and lots of belching. I found out yesterday that my MIL didn't throw up when expecting my DH. Glad to not be alone!

woollycat · 10/11/2019 09:45

@slowrunningteacher glad you don't have much sickness!

So it looks like we can stop taking folic scid once we get to 12w, but need to continue taking vitamin D. Have people stopped their folic acid?

Clairesoph · 10/11/2019 10:17

@woollycat I took them all the way through in last pregnancy, not sure why, I guess nobody told me to stop 🤷🏻‍♀️ but to be perfectly honest my diet is so poor ill carry on taking them just to make sure Im getting a hit of all the good vitamins! My midwife told me to keep taking them after baby was born too, she said theyd help give me a lift and feel abit better but I lost alot of blood and probably needed the extra dose of vitamins haha

May2311 · 10/11/2019 10:44

@woollycat midwife told me to take both throughout the whole pregnancy 😊 xxx

MamaChan · 10/11/2019 11:33

I stopped taking folic acid at 12 week scan but was told to start taking pregnacare or similar. @Clairesoph I took them all the way through last pregnancy too but was told on their own they don’t do much now.

Clairesoph · 10/11/2019 11:37

@MamaChan yeah I shouldve said ive been taking the pregnacare with fish oil tabs. Oh well, cant hurt til 20 week scan is out the way then ill feel more at ease I hope

slowrunningteacher · 10/11/2019 11:55

@woollycat I'm taking Boots Pregnancy vits. I'm planning to take them all the way through as sometimes my diet isn't as great as it should be. Yesterday I was so exhausted that a nap turned into going to bed without dinner

Schlobbob · 10/11/2019 11:56

Hi everyone, I've been following the thread but not posting, will re-introduce!

This is my DC4, everything going well so far, had my 12 week scan last week, due date 19th May :-) baby looked to be growing well but my free HcG came back 4x higher than it should be and made the risk for trisomy 21 quite high so I will need a CVS. Nuchal fold measurement was ok though, so fingers crossed all is well. I'm not in the UK so my antenatal care is a bit different, it's all with a doctor who I see once a month and have regular scans which is very reassuring! My 12 week scan was so thorough, so different to the experience in the UK!

It's lovely to see so many scan photos!

I didn't ask my doc about folic acid, I will ask her at my next appointment. In my previous pregnancies I was told to take up to 12 weeks. I have got a lovely magnesium drink to take twice a day though!

MamaChan · 10/11/2019 12:14

@Clairesoph ah ok I’ve just been taking folic acid and vit D. I’m taking boots pregnancy support now

fluffyunicorns86 · 10/11/2019 17:20

i need to get some pregnancy suppport pills may grab them on wednesday. really cant wait for midwife appointment following week having stitch and then consultant week after. mental health is suffering at the minute. really hoping midwife can help reassure me. i am definitely booking a private 16 week scan before stitch and going to gender reveal for rest of family as got to go on my own.

hope everyone is all ok.

mrsf1204 · 10/11/2019 19:30

Hey everyone. I appreciate we are all fairly early on in this journey but if like me you love a bargain I recommend popping to mothercare. We went this morning just on a wim and ended up buying a pushchair! I know it's early, but we got the mothercare own brand one which won't be available soon!

It's also worth nothing that the store staff said to us that the website shouldn't be up and running, as the delivery company responsible for online purchases haven't been paid by mothercare and their is no guarantee that people will receive any orders you make. The only way to 100% receive it is in store as they have an alternative delivery company who still have a contract and who absolutely deliver.

Just thought I'd share!

Missmuck · 10/11/2019 20:49

@mrsf1204
Thankyou for the info what are the discounts like? X

Sunshine8888 · 10/11/2019 21:50

I’m too scared to buy anything until I’ve had my 20 week scan! But hopefully I’ll be able to get some things in the January sales...

mrsf1204 · 10/11/2019 22:15

@Missmuck not amazing but still worth looking into. 10% in store plus some ex display discounts. I was really hesitant @Sunshine8888 but I had my eye on the mothercare one as it seems good value for money, and I know I can buy the other brands any time but there is a rush on mothercare stuff obviously. She also told me mamas and papas is also closing! So again if people are after own brand stuff worth a look. If anything were to go wrong we would keep it for hopefully the future or sell it anyway. It's literally the only thing we've bought as I'm the same and don't want to get carried away!

Missmuck · 10/11/2019 22:33

@mrsf1204 @Sunshine8888
I've bought a few bits
Mutsy Igo pushchair
Clare de Lune Noah Pod with 2 rocking stands
Joie abstract arrows cradle swing
All in as new condition only wear you can see is on the pram tyres a little and all for £200 off Facebook Market Place saved about £600 or so
Also some Next newborn bits off eBay and a few little bits here and there x
I'm lucky my sister was about to donate her cot bed, swinging crib, angel care monitor, car seat and sling
So I'm pretty much done just waiting on the gender scan to finish off, storing everything at my mums house x
I was hesitant at first but what will be will be I just want to feel positive now and excited as the first 12 weeks I was terrified all the time that I would miscarry (my sister had a miscarriage a bit younger than me at 12 weeks) x x

Clairesoph · 11/11/2019 07:27

Im like you @Missmuck everything for first baby was second hand off Facebook and from nearly new sales! Everything in excellent condition cos it hardly gets the use! I bought my stage 1 car seat brand new but in a Mothercare sale and my stage 2 carseat was a hand me down from a family member so a trusted source lol! With my first I was scared to buy and have bits in the house but with it being my second, the only thing I have left to get is a new change bag as a treat to me, from me 😂

I was sad enough in my first pregnancy to make a spreadsheet and write down cost in shops vs what it cost me so I could see how much I saved! I love a bargain! Even nappies when I realised Pampers charge £8 a pack vs Tesco/Aldi brands are £2 🤦🏻‍♀️ babies dont have to cost the earth x

Missmuck · 11/11/2019 07:40

@Clairesoph
I had new with my first 2 bar a few bits and I was totally skint!? This time I could afford to spend more and not feel the pinch but I refuse to when people are giving stuff away near enough brand new! I didn't have internet access or Facebook or anything with my first two now it's amazing and also a hindrance (Googling symptoms lol) x x x

Clairesoph · 11/11/2019 07:50

@Missmuck this is the thing, the stuff people sell is as good as new anyway! You wouldnt even know. Just gotta do what you gotta do 🤷🏻‍♀️ a friend bought us a brand new £180 Graco chair that was all singing all dancing and my LO hated it, screamed everytime he was in it so it went back in the loft after a week 😂 then I realised why I was glad I wasnt forking out for gadgets to find he hated them haha! Praying the second might get more use from it, feel bad for the lad that got it for us 😩

Missmuck · 11/11/2019 08:12

@Clairesoph what a generous friend! Yeah this joie swing I've got only got used 3 times as her baby didn't like it, it's still £150 in Argos I got it for £40. I don't even feel jealousy or anything when people have spent nearly £2000 on a pushchair just yowzers think what you could get with £2000! X
