@Shelbustotherescue there's no need to be concerned if its low risk its very very unlikely that the baby will have these conditions, if you want to discuss it more id ask your midwife at your next appointment just to help relax that bit more

@Shelbustotherescue I got mine today after my scan Monday.

1:50000 for downs &
Edwards& Pataus 1:46000

I would try not to worry as they've classed at low risk and remember low risk still doesn't mean No risk- it's just a probability.
Is there a contact number on bottom of your letter that you can call if you're concerned xxx

Has anyone drank any alcohol since they found out they were pregnant? My midwife said a unit is fine but I haven’t dared. I do miss wine though and keep wondering if now I’m in the second trimester it would be ok to have a glass every now and then!

facevalue · 25/10/2019 16:36

@sunshine8888 i havnt drank any not even a sip in over 3 months. but i did have some in my first pregnancy .. a small glass once or twice a month.

with the nausea i did not crave any i’m having had a MC before shook me so much that i don't to take anything ..

i don't smoke but wondering how the smoking mums in this group are coping and if any managed to quit when found out about being pregnant ? i understand if no one admits being a smoker there's a lot of judgment about smoking mum ... i just think it's a habit and it's tough so can only try to support mums to be to quit when they r ready..

Shelbustotherescue · 25/10/2019 16:47

@kstann wow now I am worried seeing yours ! How old are you if you don't mind me asking ? I think my age is possibly a factor.

Helensss · 25/10/2019 16:54

@Sunshine8888 I had a glass of fizz last night to celebrate, I think the odd glass here and there is ok, I did feel guilty though 😂 x

Emmacb82 · 25/10/2019 16:56

Hey all, sorry to hear some of you are struggling with sickness/pain. Hope it starts to feel better soon.
Got my letter through for my scan at last, got to wait till the 13th November, feels like so long away!

Emmacb82 · 25/10/2019 16:57

@Shelbustotherescue I really wouldn’t worry about your results, my first pregnancy my risk for downs was something like 1:350 so much much higher than yours and it was all fine. Yours look very low risk so please don’t worry. I’m expecting the same this time as I’m even older (37)

Helensss · 25/10/2019 16:57

@facevalue I used a vape pen and stopped as soon as I found out. I found it hard as my husband said he’d stop but hasn’t so he’s banished to the garden when he wants it as I don’t think it’s fair... or good to have vape smoke in the house x

sao81 · 25/10/2019 17:06

@sunshine8888 during my first pregnancy i would have the odd smirnoff ice at a family party/event, we went to see adele and anthony joshua so I had 1 there too. I haven't had a drop during this pregnancy due to the sickness as I dont want to make it worse

@facevalue when i found out with my first I was a previous smoker and stopped pretty much straight away but did struggle around other smokers, would find myself standing by them for the smell 🙈 however I only smoke socially now after a drink so it isn't bothering me this time round

Thanks for the replies. Midwife did say a unit a week wouldn’t cause any harm. Maybe I’ll treat myself tonight as I’m away with DH and just really fancy a glass! Plus you can’t really see my bump yet so hopefully no judgy looks from strangers 🙈

kstann · 25/10/2019 17:13

@Shelbustotherescue not at all, I'm 30 xx

sao81 · 25/10/2019 17:20

@Sunshine8888 if you like fruit cider, Alcohol free koppaberg/rekordaling (excuse the spelling) taste exactly like the real deal!

Moonstone12 · 25/10/2019 17:28

@Shelbustotherescue please do not worry about your results. As your midwife said you are low risk.
High risk in our trust is 1/150 or lower (or is it higher? - you know what i mean!) if you were classed as high risk then they would offer you further screening.

This time for me my downs risk is 1/3500 (roughly - the form is downstairs) I'm 38 and very happy with that. Before the NT measurement and bloods my age alone gave me a risk of 1/179. Then the risk was adjusted with all other info.

And remember these aren't a yes or no answer. So try and relax :) 💕

Moonstone12 · 25/10/2019 17:30

@Sunshine8888 the Old Mout 0% tastes exactly like the real thing too. Incredibly sweet but good if you like fruit cider :)
0% Prosecco and wine - don't bother! Lol. I haven't had any alcohol yet as been so sick but I had the odd glass with my last 2 pregnancies so probably will again if I feel like it :)

Sunshine8888 · 25/10/2019 17:38

I don’t love sweet drinks so not missing fruit ciders at all, it’s just wine! I love wine and drank it regularly so really missing it

Moonstone12 · 25/10/2019 17:41

@Sunshine8888 I totally get you. A bottle of red was my drink! I can't wait to have a glass 🍷

Purple29 · 25/10/2019 17:46

I tried the friexnet (might not be how you spell it) 0% and it wasnt sweet like the other nosecco's just tasted like a light wine!! So I would reccomend that one!! Was a little dearer than the other no alcohol wine but that's what I'll be buying over xmas and that for if I'm wanting a drink!! Just a personal preference but I plan on not having any. Some of my friends had the odd one in previous pregnancys tho, the studies on the odd glass are divided!!

helpasisterout · 25/10/2019 18:11

Only at 9+6 but asked my midwife today what will happen with my combined screening and she says it's done at the scan and two week wait for the results.. I know this is normal in a lot of NHS areas but now just unsure if (all other stuff is well) we would tell anyone until we got the results at which stage I would be about 14+4😕 lots of thinking to be done!

Hope you guys have a lovely weekend and especially those that have had scans and lovely news hope you are being pampered and celebrating too x

helpasisterout · 25/10/2019 18:25

@Emmacb82 my scan is same day as yours! Does feel like ages doesn't it! X

Sunshine8888 · 25/10/2019 19:14

Thanks @Purple29 maybe I should try that!

Emmacb82 · 25/10/2019 19:26

@helpasisterout ah yay scan buddies Smile feels like so long away!! Just hoping the next couple of weeks go quickly, don’t want to wish the pregnancy quicker but just want to see baby!

YorkshirePud1 · 25/10/2019 20:46

I'm still waiting for my scan date. I'm getting impatient. I should get my letter soon... well I hope so anyway!! 😬

kstann · 25/10/2019 21:28

@helpasisterout more often that not, I think it's 3/4 times then can tell by the scan alone if it's likely to be high risk. Most people I know told people after the scan alone.

I had my 12 wk scan Monday and was told 2-3 weeks but got the letter in the post!
They do say that if it's high risk you'll here that week xx
