@facevalue no course not, my little nephew had Nuchal fold of over 8. So they took my sis bloods and called her the next day to say a really High chance of downs. She opted for CVS as amnio u have to be 16 wks. All came back fine! He's one now 😊 after all that worry and stress. Xx

kstann · 25/10/2019 08:36

Someone asked what oils people had bought... I've got this but haven't started using it yet!x

Thanks @kstann that’s really helpful to know, maybe they didn’t say anything because I hadn’t had the blood test yet so they won’t know anything based on NT alone anyway. I just checked the paperwork and it says 2.3mm which seems to be in the normal range so I’ll just have to wait for the results :)

Can I vent a little?
I am 9+5 today and sick of being and feeling sick. I feel awful nausea on most days and am sick between 1-3 times a day. I know some people have it worse, so I feel bad complaining but this is becoming unbearable. I have lost 5.5kg since the start of the pregnancy. I have been off for for 4 weeks now and have spent most of my days in bed, mostly isolated as my husband has to work.
I haven't taken any meds as I worry about side effects, and just hope this will pass on its own closer to 12 weeks, but sometimes I lose all hope :( This is my first pregnancy and I was so excited about it, I had no idea what was to come!
Sorry about all the negativity; I find this is the only place I can really open up.

mintbear · 25/10/2019 09:36

@woollycat
So sorry you are suffering so much. I'm 13+1 today and I've hardly moved for fear of another vom session.
Sounds like you have HG with your weight loss, have you spoken to the drs/midwife?
I was given sickness meds and I was so unsure about taking them, my mum had frightened me with stories of the 60s/70s but I spoke with a friend who is a nurse and at length with the doctor and decided to take them.
I only take them when I really need them, but tbh, I've still been sick on them. However they do take the edge off, so maybe book a drs appointment and go and have a conversation with them.

I was hoping my sickness would clear up a bit this week, it did for 2 days, then came back. Everything I read seems to contradict when you 'should' feel better. I'm lucky as my hubby has been able to wfh and look after me - and keep me sane.

I totally get how hard it can be and the effect on your mood. It's just bloody miserable sometimes and if you have a really bad day, it's really awful. Don't worry about feeling guilty, it's normal to feel like that.
I watched what to expect when you're expecting the other day - I'm calling bullsh*t too!!

@woollycat sounds like you have HG, the meds can be trial and error but if they help keep you hyrdated thats the best thing, you don't want to end up being admitted with dehydration. Im 9+2 have only left the house for the nursery run in the last 2 weeks spending every day in bed resting as much as I can. They say 1st trimester is worst so we are nearly through! Look after yourself xx

@mintbear sounds like you are having tough times too :-( I am glad you have decided to go for the meds - I think I know they are ok but the non-logical part of me just really doesn't want to budge. The GP has actually prescribed me both cyclizine and metocroplomide - and I even got them from the pharmacy - but just not wanting to take them. I think because I have managed for 4 weeks already, I feel like it would be annoying to give up now.
I have ketone test sticks at home and know I am not dehydrated so that's good news at least.
I hope it eases off for you very soon, given you are 13w now it really should be any moment now!

Lu1u · 25/10/2019 09:57

@may2311 ooooo me too! It's like I have bruised my coccyx but I know I haven't, its definitely worse at work where I'm sat down at a desk for most of the day. Shifting around and standing up/sitting down makes me wince.. tempted to bring in a cushion for my poor bum 😅

facevalue · 25/10/2019 10:18

@woollycat i'm so sorry u r suffering. pregnancy is such a difficult thing to advise on because there are many illogical thoughts that creep into our heads regardless of the facts, knowledge, experience and education. it is really a private decision making phase. being off work for 4 weeks sounds unreasonable to an outsider because there r safe drugs to take to make things better but again u not wanting to take them must be respected. i hope it settles with or without the meds. Vent as much as u want on here x no judgment x

woollycat · 25/10/2019 10:46

@sao81 oh I am sorry you are also feeling rubbish :-( Some articles I have read say week 9 is the worst on average - let's hope they are right!

@facevalue @jeffsar4 thanks guys. I do feel a bit better after sharing and getting kind responses.

sao81 · 25/10/2019 11:55

@woollycat lets hope it eases so we can enjoy our pregnancy!

For anyone else waiting for screening results. I was told 2-3 weeks and have just received letter in the post already!x

Helensss · 25/10/2019 12:39

@kstann oh really? When was your scan? X

kstann · 25/10/2019 13:06

@Helensss Monday xx

mrsf1204 · 25/10/2019 13:10

I had such a craving for a chicken sandwich from McDonald's so that's exactly what I just had along with a maltesers mcfluffy and it was dreamy 😂😂 not my usual diet AT ALL!!!

zoemelb · 25/10/2019 13:30

@KerryM1983 congrats on the scan. Such a cute baby already.

I'm 11+6 today, nausea is gone. Heartburn and bloat is also a lot less. But now I have lower belly pain near the crotch- not terrible pain, but noticeable. When I walk, I feel my belly heavy like something pulling it down a bit especially getting out of bed, keep on holding my belly up (when I'm at home) . Does anyone have it? Is there anything can help?

Bumpingalong84 · 25/10/2019 13:41

@jeffsar4 I used the clarins oil by recommendation of a friend that had twins. Sadly I did not escape the dreaded stretch marks and got a few after 33wks, but I didn’t really expect to as I have a few from my teenage years. I have to say tho I thought it was brilliant stuff and absorbed so well. I think my skin would have been far worse. So I’ve got a bottle and I’m using it again 👍🏼

May2311 · 25/10/2019 13:45

@Lu1u ah I'm so glad I'm not the only one😂 I'm office based also so sat at desk most of the day. I do try and move about but it's so difficult when supposed to be working. Cushion could be a good idea! Xx

facevalue · 25/10/2019 13:47

this coccyx pain ! whoever mentioned it i definitely have felt something worst on the left side ... i'm not doing any lifting and i'm not sitting down much ... 🙄 i hope it doesn't get worst i had pelvic hurdle pain last pregnancy and suffered.

i also get these waves of nausea after i eat my diet of beige food 🙄 mainly cheesy bread and toasties

Pastnowfuture · 25/10/2019 14:13

@Bumpingalong84 @jeffsar4 The clarins tonic was reccomended to me too. Stupid question but when should I start using it- straight away or not until I get a bump. I'm 12/13 weeks approx but have HG and lost 12% of my body weight so stomach is probably flatter than before I concieved Grin

facevalue · 25/10/2019 14:29

@pastnowfuture i was told start using it from now twice daily you want the skin to be moisturised regularly so that as it grows it prevents the stretch and rip effects BUT ITS GENETIC so it will be a lie to think u can truly prevent or cure it. moisturising feels nice and definitely no harm

Pastnowfuture · 25/10/2019 14:37

@facevalue Thanks, that makes sense and a bit of pampering is always nice. Smile

Shelbustotherescue · 25/10/2019 15:25

Had my results back from my screening today, has anyone else had theirs ?
