MrsMcJnr · 06/09/2007 14:33

MotherofZ ? an hour is never long enough is it? that was good going though, you got lots done!

Lulubump ? sorry about the hospital hon So far I have a newborn all in one, a cute cardi and a toy cat! Still feel it?s a bit too early for me but my buggy research is beginning with earnest! Pedicures are the way forward

Beller ? wow! You sound really organised! nursery sounds so lovely have no idea where we will be when Beanie arrives!

Welcome Sillysausages ? we are due date Twins ? well triplets with Barristermum

beller · 06/09/2007 14:34

ooops computer went mad...but a warm welcome anyay

MotherofZ · 06/09/2007 14:43

Hi Sillysausage - welcome to the madhouse!
Ange - yes with you on the Immac preference - the in-shower one is brilliant, saves so much time!!!
Lulu - hope you get your documents sorted soon.

Not bought much for little one - as mentioned previously got all of DD stuff packed away in the attic - but defo going to invest in an electric breast pump and just need a few things for myself. If we have a boy, I'll send my DH to the Xmas sales to pick up some stuff!

beller · 06/09/2007 14:56

Nyone had any thoughts about winter coat? Not sure what to do..dont want to spend a load of money on a coat i will only where for a while...but maybe a style that you can wear after? Or just a jacket? Have looked at these two
www.vertbaudet.co.uk/Product/ProductDetail.aspx?ProductId=V001003002&&DocumentId=V328&&CompanyId=V&& Path=781%2f803&&source=
and
www.cravematernity.co.uk/CraveMaternitySite/product/jackets_and_coats/CTS100.htm
Really like the military coat, so you think it would be ok after birth? Alot of money otherwise!!

MrsMcJnr · 06/09/2007 16:41

I have thought about this as it can get freezing here before Christmas but I have no idea how big I am going to get so that is making me pull back right now, I was thinking of buying a big size in an A line or poncho type coat from a Catalouge cheaply but again, how big should I go!?

The military style one is lovely and I'm sure you could wear it again, I don't think the jacket would help much up here. Also reluctant to buy an expensive coat because hopefully we'll be in Spain in the future in the winter.

Lulubump · 06/09/2007 16:41

Beller, I've seen a gorgeous winter coat at Zara (they seem to have started doing some maternity wear)- single breasted swing coat, looked quite glamorous and was about £80. Can't find any pics on the web to direct you to though.

MrsMcJnr · 06/09/2007 16:49

Souns nice Lulubump, might have to check that out when I am in Spain in 3 weeks time - so much cheaper there! feeling very weary this afternoon - sigh!

barristermum · 06/09/2007 18:21

Hi folks,
really love the sound of beller's nursery. We aren't really going to do very much to our baby's room at first as we only decorated it as a guest room a year ago, so will stick cot and baby's furniture in there as well at first and then when baby is more toddler-like think we'll make decorating for it more of a project - and then will find a place finally for dh's vinyl collection which he finds himself so far unable to put in the loft.

We haven't bought ANY baby stuff - I am waiting till our scan next Tuesday and then may go mad. But a friend of my mothers is knitting too and we have bee-yoo-tiful little bootees!

Bad luck on the hair motherofz- just had mine done and its such a spirit-lifter but when you aren't happy it really pulls you down disproportionately I know.

Things sound v hectic mum2sons and Mrs McjNr with house moves - nicky6 you and I are in the same state re work. I just had a trial put in for 17th Dec and the alternative date was 9th Jan but a witness's baby was due on 7th! Judge looked most alarmed when I said my own due on 15th!

So welcome sausages to Mrs McJnr and my due date buddy thing - wonder if any of us will actually do it on the day!

LilyLoo · 06/09/2007 18:58

hi all the nursery sounds lovely this one will be sharing so won't be able to do nursery this time instead i have spent £2000 on fitted wardrobes for the bedrooms as we desperately need more storage.
As for the buying thing i havne't got anything yet but will have to venture up the loft to see what i actually need. Hope everyone ok, welcome ss.
Am so of all you who can pop on at work i am just catching up now in between bathing dc's and clearing away tea

MamaMaiasaura · 06/09/2007 21:49

evening ladies. Crikey I am knackered! Spent the day in town with friend and her 6 week old little girl. Got to do lots of cuddling Walked aound for nearly 4 hours tho.. soooo tired out.

Didnt buy anything for beanie. Still havent got anything altho seen a mamas & papas pram thing and alos a nursery furnitre set 0 cot bed, wardrobe and drawers with cot changer.

Deciding nursery theme for new house, we are putting house n market very soon, just finishing lots of jobs, painitn gbathroom and and chaning under stairs cupboard to workstation. Beanies room is already ok in terms of decor for temporary use, will just add furniture and hopefully will look nice for sale of house. Poss themes for new house include space, dinosaur, jungle and transport.

Ds held friends baby too when he got home from school, he was brilliant with her.

Greeted this morning with horrid smell. Mice - 0 Awen - 4, really pee'd off with it. LUckily no evidence of activity anywhere near food etc, basically popping through from next doors loft and climbing down cavity. Need to find the hole but apparantly almost impossible.

Overdone housework and off to bed very soon.

Becky - I have summer listening thing too from Argos - is fab

BeckyAu · 07/09/2007 06:43

Morning ladies! I've been awake since 5am - blegh! I woke up with a headache that feels like a whopping hangover - can't have had enough water yesterday as no lovely wine consumed. Then beanie started to move around which I find utterly fascinating so I ws then wide awake. Got up at 20 past as really fancied a cuppa...

Beller - thanks for the link to dopplers - they look great!Your nursery decoration sounds just lovely

MrsMcJnr - thanks for the offer of help - I did a big google search to find out the case law referred to in relation to the house move. I then phoned the solicitor who seemed amazed that I had 2 brain cells to rub together let alone check up on case law. It's all rather complicated but I think we've come to a good compromise and we are now ready to exchange. I'm going to hassle all estate agents and solicitors today to try to push this one forward. It would be so fantastic to exchange and we could do it today if everyone else's ready. This whole thing has been going on so long it's frustrating the life out of me.
The answer to your question of what I do is that I'm a freelancer writing for interiors magazines which is great fun. Absolutely no security, but great fun!

So fingers crossed today is a good day for house purchases... I've had a mini bottle of M&S wine in the fridge for ages (in case of emergencies!)and I promised myself I'd have it on exchange. I have been looking at it longingly all week!

So what are you all up to this weekend? Anything nice? I hear the weather is supposed to be great... here's hoping for an Indian summer! xxx

beller · 07/09/2007 07:54

Lulubump - Thanks , will take a look! I bought 2 leather jackets in Barcelona in April (was already pregnant, but didnt know), and now they dont fit...well not across my belly!

Barristermum - I was like that too..didnt buy anything until after the scan. Im lucky my sister has a 1 year old..so will "borrow" some stuff of her too. Moses basket/steriliser etc.

Awen - Yuk about the mice....I saw a huge rat this morning when parking the car at the station...blurgh!

Becky au - Good luck with the house!!! Hope your headache goes as well.....Lots of water, andyou can take paracetomol if needed, hope it shifts xx

Hi everyone!

Well its friday!! thank god......Im out tonight with some friends..probably only for a couple of hours as im tired. Then tomorrow im going to order the furniture. There is a discount warehouse near me that sells M+P furniture for about 25pct discount! Im going to the Police in concert tom night at Twickenham.. Then im taking my neice to see "knocked up" on sunday and going to my sisters for dinner. Hope you are all well and have a fab weekend xx

MotherofZ · 07/09/2007 08:07

Morning all
Hope you all are well
Just checking in and having a bit of a nosey!!

Beller - My mate went to a Police concert on Tuesday night I think it was, near Birmingham and she had a brilliant time there, even though she had a raging flu she dragged herself out of bed for it and said it was sooo worth it. Enjoy yourself!!!!

Angechica · 07/09/2007 09:22

Ew Awen. We had mice earlier this year - they had been getting in the cupboard where we keep the dog food and feasting on doggie biscuits for a while before we noticed; the amount of droppings was incredible.

They started to get really bold and run across the floor - had to put that nasty blue wheat down - you can get it from B & Q - and after about 2 weeks and removing 2 bodies, no more mice since.

Now having an infestation of slugs in the dining room instead.

beller · 07/09/2007 09:33

Angechica- how are he slugs getting in the dining room? I have a few out the front..but have somehow managed to keep them away from the back garden...

Angechica · 07/09/2007 09:47

I never see them but there are slug trails on the carpet in the mornings. They must be getting through an air brick or something.

we live in quite an old pit terrace - the floorboards are very gappy hence the mice and now this!

Haven't had this problem since I lived in a grotty student house about 15 years ago (and we didn't care about sharing with slugs then!!). Apart from putting salt down I have no idea how to deal with it!

MamaMaiasaura · 07/09/2007 09:52

going to get the blue wheat poison this weekend as i bought the eco-friendly poison stuff. THe traps have been working very well tho but also

I am completely knackered today. I completely overdid it yesterday. I cant believe how quickly i get tired now.. friends say i look great and blooming (and non preggie from behind!) but i feel sooooooo tired. Waiting for this complete sense of energy and vitality.

MamaMaiasaura · 07/09/2007 09:53

No idea what to suggest re slugs. I have used pellets in the past for the garden. Could you line the outside of house with pellets?

beller · 07/09/2007 10:16

Awen - I feel a bit like that too..alarm went off this morning..thought it was some cruel joke! I went to pregnancy yoga last night..Fab and totally relaxing..had best night sleep all week and only got up once for the loo!

MamaMaiasaura · 07/09/2007 10:21

I have looked into poreg yoga here and only found classes at times i cant make. Will keep looking tho.

MotherofZ · 07/09/2007 10:33

same here all pregnancy yoga classes are during the working day - do they expect pregnant women to be at home at all time??!!

MotherofZ · 07/09/2007 10:34

my friend's father-in-law thought that (pregnant women should be at home)...conserving their energy for the big day is what he thought!!!

Lulubump · 07/09/2007 10:44

Slugs and mice UGH!! You have my sympathies Awen and Angechica. Apparently slugs hate crushed eggshells - you could try scattering some around the outside walls of your house.

Loved all your nursery ideas, and am so glad that I'm not too behind in the baby shopping!

Has anyone looked into hypnobirthing? I've been investigating it, and am v interested in hypnobabies (a US version) - had a look at one of the birth videos and couldn't believe how chilled out this woman looked! If you need a bit of inspiration, have a look at www.pregnancybirthandbabies.com/birthvideo.htm

Went to the gym the other day, and the trainers there do a fitness programme for you if you're pregnant (no charge) - very handy, plus, there's a mother and baby yoga class which I plan to go to later.

beller · 07/09/2007 11:02

Im lucky, my yoga classes are at 7 o clock..cool.
Mixedmama- I like the idea your FIL has..alas in the real world... hahahwould it be nice though...
lulubump - I have ben thinking about hypnobirthing too, thats as far as I have got with it so far.. but will look at that link xx

BeckyAu · 07/09/2007 11:33

Hello ladies!
I am struggling to get any motivation today... so am thinking about beanie's nursery (assuming our house sale eventually goes through). I wonder if I can ask all of you who already have children what flooring you think is best in a nursery? My first thought was carpet but then someone said that what with babies throwing up all the time, the smell of milk on a carpet gets really horrid as you can't keep the floor as clean as you might like to? Which sounds rather unpleasant! So I was advised that a laminate with rugs you can bung in the washing machine would be better. Ok I thought... I'll do that. Then I was told by someone carpet is better as it's nicer to crawl on! The nursery will need a new floor as the current one is grim.... HELP! and thanks xxx
