Hellooooo there

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Neuro · 05/09/2007 17:27

Useful link by the way. I shall just slip off to the registry by myself! Feel a bit mean but i won't be feeling mean when i'm the one that's done the-all nighters feeding and changing poo-ey nappies, got saggy tits/stretch marks, suitcases under my eyes and a very small bank balance!

nicky6 · 05/09/2007 20:21

19th september shame - its my sisters 30th birthday so unfortunately i wont be able to make it this time.

Lulubump - dont worry at my first scan they told me i had a naughty baby.

Am starting yoga on saturday as not done anything as still being occasionally sick.

However I did manage my first class of legs bums and pregnant tums!! When I walked in the instructor said where is the baby - i thought my tummy was getting big - i then saw the other ladies who were all due in the next week or so and were frighteningly massive - scared me

But achey legs today so must be a good thing - i am sure my body is in shock doing exercise.

I have a very busy four months ahead - my trials now run back to back from monday to the day i finish - i think i am going to have to start working weekends again - boo hoo.

xxxx

MamaMaiasaura · 05/09/2007 20:48

angechica - you post about lady garden made me laugh. MIne is also out of view lol. Have to really on obscurely placed mirror or DP to see if tidy .

Had some problems reaching feet in bath today but managed it. Am feeling very breathless when sat as bump is pushing right up (crap posture). Is ok if i stretch out tho. How are you belly buttons? MIne is flat now, got retainer in now.

I was quite healthy for food today (so far). I had homous & grated carrot sandwiches on brown bread. I absolutely hate carrots since babyhood but for some reason i dont mind them grated or in cake

MoominMum · 05/09/2007 23:31

Don't know about ladygarden, but my unkempt shrubbery disappeared from view a while ago and yet folk keep telling me I'm quite 'neat' - I think they're just making it up!!

Weird having such a high sticky-out tum tho'- don't think I've seen it like that since I was about five!

Anyone else having probs sleeping on their backs? Friend told me I would know when I couldn't anymore as I would wake up choking and that's been happening for the last few days - wake up, start coughing and realise there's nothing to cough. So am now down to R or L side and baby doesn't seem too keen on the R. God - I'm already salivating at the prospect of being able to stretch out properly on my stomach again - bliss!

Sorry if this has been discussed - I've been out of touch for a few weeks!

Hope everyone's doing ok and being well looked after whether by partners, family, friends or work.

beller · 06/09/2007 08:07

Neuro- I have dreams like that

Nicky6 - i was hoping my gym would do something like that, but they dont do any pregnancy classes?!

Awen - My belly button still going in at mom, but is getting wider..!

Moominmum - I have been sleeping on my side for a while now, have found it easier recently with a pillow in front and my knee on it though

Hope everyone is well, I had to go out with client last night and im shattered today... xxxxxx

BeckyAu · 06/09/2007 08:27

Good morning ladies

Wow there's lots going on - and the discussions about food made me laugh! I realise I've spent 20 years being aware of what I eat, and not having something or just a small amount (have always been verging on a bit too heavy - a continual struggle) and now I seem to have gone off the rails! I consider chocolate a perfectly acceptable second breakfast and ice cream is fine at any time of the day! The other day I had a hot chocolate brownie with ice cream... oooh it was so delicious. Anyway... that's why I've put on a stone and a great chunk of it seems to be on my bottom! I am so jealous of Awen having such a neat bum she can't hold jeans up

I am already working from home freelance and self employed which is great if a bit scary. I don't have a contract with my main employer but I contribute the same amount every month. It's ben going on 18 months so is ok though I hate the fact that at any time they could just say they don't want me anymore. As my contact with them is generally email and phobne I hadn't told them I was pregnant but on Tuesday I drove up there and spread the news - I said "Yes I'm pregnant but please don't sack me!" or words to that effect. Luckily they said "No please don't leave!" so I feel better about that.

I know on this thread we cover all sorts of professions... does anyone by any chance know where I can look up a particular law case that has been referred to by our solicitor in the long running saga of us trying to move. We unfortunately don't trust our solicitor anymore as we don't feel she's got our best interests at heart so I' rather check the details myself. Odd question I know but you girls are a bright bunch!

Finlly - has anyone bought one of the summer heartbeat listening thingies (sorry!) Are they any good? Beanie has at last (21+4) decided to start moving that I can feel. Good grief it's an odd feeling - v hard to describe to DH! I do fancy listening to the heartbeat if these gadgets are any good?

Long post - sorry about that! Just about to get my head down to work (blegh!) so I'm wishing you all a very lovely day. The sun is shining here - I hope it is on all of you too xxx

MotherofZ · 06/09/2007 08:35

Morning all,
Hope you all are well!!!

Just about survived the meeting yesterday with no food ? unfortunately it stretched to all afternoon and was so tempted to grab a McDonalds on the way home ? but was good and went home and made myself a macaroni cheese (which ended up being just as unhealthy with the amount of cheese I used in it).

Had my hair done last night and hate it. I went to a place where my hubby?s cousin works who said she would do it exactly how I want it?.which she didn?t. Feel a bit sh**ty as I have just tied my hair back in a pony tail, after spending all that much money on my hair. Wanted light brown highlights and she?s put in blond (!) highlights and the cut does not suit my face at all. Think I?ll just have to home dye my hair to it?s natural colour, if I go back I don?t want it to create bad family feelings etc?

Good luck with you viewings Mrs McJnr.

Beller ? According to company policy we are supposed to have a risk assessment done ? but no one has been around to it. They will probably turn up on my last day here! It?s great you are getting loads of advice on XP and baby ? sorry don?t feel very wise on this issue, but I am sure whatever you decide it will be the best for you and baby.

Anyone else beginning to feel out of breathe after walking for about 15 mins or more (or are all these Gregg?s lunches taking their toll me??)

Have a good day all ? the sun is shining!

gingeme · 06/09/2007 08:42

Beckyau I have a summer heart beat listening thingy. Yes I found it brill. Have a look on Ebay before you pay £25 for one from Argos. I got mine for about £9. Two of my friends borrowed ot too and found it very good.
Bummer about your hair motherofz. I keep mine short and my dh does my highlights out of a bottle! Everyone comments on it and when I say he does it they all seem so suprised.
Got a snow suit for bean from Ebay today. Ah so cute. Have to hide the bits Im getting at the weekend as my parents are visiting and they are not to know its another blue beanWell have a good day ladies. xx

mum2sons · 06/09/2007 08:54

HOW embaressing, just posted on the wrong thread! I will repost here!

Hi everyone

At the moment it is all stress in our household with a 12 year old tweenager and a 2 year old hyperactive health and safety hazard. Have just had a shouting match with said 12 year old before school and 2 year old has destroyed every room in the house once again. Yesterday my toddler refused to hold my hand crossing the road and i had to carry him screaming and kicking.
What a haven of calm and tranquility for my forthcoming homebirth!

To top it all I have 2 weeks in which to finish my masters dissertation. I hopefully will be posting a bit more after that!

Am having 21 week scan today, hopefully the stress won't show in the baby!

Good luck to all the other scan mummies today.
xxx

beller · 06/09/2007 10:16

Beckyau - I hired a doppler for a month
www.anawiz.com/acatalog/Foetal_Monitor___Doppler_Rental.html
Was fab and sooooooo clear, it showed the HR on the monitor too. I have sent it back now that babybel has started booting the life out of me

Motherofz - Sorry you dont like you hair...could yo not go back and say it hasnt come out as expected, and asked them to dye it for you? Im still going to the gym, but definately getting more out of breath!

Mum2sons - Goodluck witht he children today...andgood luck for the scan! hope Lo plays ball.....are you finding out the flavour?

MrsMcJnr · 06/09/2007 10:56

Morning ladies hope everyone is well as usual, I?d rather catch up with you than work

Bettymamma ? the song was the latter but I have NEVER been called Mandy (well not twice anyway )

Hello Lilyloo Lulubump ? Gingme ?

Neuro & Beller ? I admire you both so much for your decisions and think your babies will be so lucky to have you as Mums I can?t imagine all the feelings you must both have but can understand that you feel vulnerable sometimes ? hope we can help when you feel down x

Nicky6 ? very admirable going to that class must start my DVD! Sorry to hear that life is going to be so busy, same here I think but I draw the line at weekends ? not as committed as you

Awen - Angechica made me laugh with that comment too ? it?s very much out of sight, out of mind, I keep forgetting I have a very deep innie belly button and it doesn?t seem to be shifting yet (and still no dark line!)

Moominmum ? nice to see you how many people see that part of you? try and put some cushions under your back to one side so that you lie at a slant, it will make a massive difference left side is best all round I wasn?t choking on my back but snoring and getting cramps in my legs. Have you had a 20 week scan? Do you know the flavour? how are you feeling?

Beckyau ? glad you got some reassurance about your work ? just curious but what do you do? (don?t feel obliged to say ) I have access to on-line legal research so could check the case details for you though can?t give you direct access? Would that help? I am not sure what the situation is in England, whether you can get access to bound case law in public libraries or not ? I?ll leave that for those South of the Border ? if I can help, just let me know can?t help with the gadget though

MotherofZ ? hmmm macaroni cheese love that ? especially with bacon through it! Sorry to hear about the bad hair, nothing worse viewing went well, we?ll see. Open viewing tonight so fingers crossed. I?m a bit out of breath sometimes but maybe it?s because I am unfit!

Mum2sons ? things do sound stressful for you at the mo home the new school term helps calm the older one! Good luck getting that dissertation finished and all the best for the scan, fingers crossed it all goes well ? report back hon!

nicky6 · 06/09/2007 11:22

morning all working from home today - beller try your local authority gym you can pay by class and most of them have have preganancy classes.

OH how nice it would be to sleep on my tummy again - i actually find it really difficult to sleep any other way - sometimes i wake up in the morning and find i have wriggled round almost on to my tummy!!! Your meant to slepp on your left side something to do with the placenta and blood to the baby.

I knwo this is abit premature but Lloyds the chemists have an offer on where they are selling tens machines for about £15 rather than the normal £40 so if anyone thinking about getting one.

Me and Dh having arguments about where we are going to put lo when it arrives.

I want to devote a whole room/clear all his stuff out the study but he says there is nowhere else to put it, i said i dont want a fax, copier desk, books in the same room - slightly at loggerheads as neither of us can come up with a sensible alternative to each others concerns - very annoying indeed - he is also terrified about jinxing things.

ANyway - good luck everyone with scans

Molly65 · 06/09/2007 11:42

Hello,

Having a 21 week scan today. I've been a bit nervous and talking about it - whereas dh is having terrible nights and saying nothing. I want to know the flavour but he doesn't. Somehow I'll get round that one. Thanks for good luck from mother2sons and all the best to other scan candidates.

I keep an eye out on posts, but don't really know what to say. However, I am out here! It's amazing how everyone's concerns change as things move on -- and yes, it seems that there are always concerns. (I have been looking ahead to childbirth threads.)

Better go and get ready for trip to Oxford hospital.

Hugs and kisses xxxx

MrsMcJnr · 06/09/2007 11:50

Good point about the council gyms though I have found that all the classes are in the middle of the day and useless to me

Nicky6 ? you can sleep on your tummy ? of sorts ? they showed us how at the AN physio class ? you need lots of pillows under your bump and one in between your legs but you are affectively ½ on your tummy and ½ on your left side. That?s a good call on the TENS machine. tricky about the nursery/study and DH?s stuff. I wouldn?t want that machinery in a baby?s room either, or in my room to be honest. Maybe you could get a big cupboard that it all fits into that makes it accessible but out of site? Trust LO will be in your room for a while anyway but you?ll want to dress it, change it etc and maybe feed it in its own room won?t you?

Molly65 ? welcome and congratulations all the best today, I know how you feel, my DH likes to keep quiet and I like to talk about things too come back and tell us how you get on

MotherofZ · 06/09/2007 13:38

Gosh, rushed around this lunch time to the bank, got eyebrows done and bought myself a new pair of PJs - feel so exhusted now...could do with a nap now......
good luck to all those ladies who are having scan, Let us know the flavour if you find out...

Lulubump · 06/09/2007 13:45

I met my new midwife today (moved house so had to register with another GP), and I had asked her on the phone weeks ago to transfer me to the other hospital in town, BUT she didn't do it (actually called them today, while I was in her office), and now they're full!

I actually kept very calm and decided it just wasn't meant to happen, and they probably would have lost all my paperwork between the two hospitals! Especially seeing as my new midwife is STILL waiting for my notes about 6 weeks after I changed midwives

Ok, rant over, feel better!

Has everyone bought loads of baby stuff already? I'm dying to hear all the details. I have been shamed into going baby shopping, when a colleague of mine gave me a baby blanket that her mom had knitted for me - I've only met her mom once, and hardly knew what to say, especially as it is a tradition in their family, she made one for her daughter's child and her son's new baby. Think I'll hit the shops seriously at the end of next week, when we'll hopefully be finished with all the new house DIY.

Good luck with your scam Molly65 - sending you positive vibes!

Nicky6 - I think MrsMcJnr's idea of putting all the office stuff away in a cupboard sounds klike it might work - can't remember where but did see a workstation online that all folded back into a wardrobe type thing; might have been IKEA.

Moominmum - I have discovered that my 'ladytrimmer' is still usable, as if I lean over the toilet bowl, I can just about see what I'm doing. BUT I can no longer polish my toe nails and have given in and am going to have a pedicure this afternoon - Yay!

beller · 06/09/2007 13:52

I bought a few sleep suits last weekend...mothercare have a sale, and i bought some disney ones and humphrey corner...sooooooooo cuute! I have a big shopping expedition with my sisters on 16th Sept..so looking fwd to that! Plus think im going with my best mate to look at nursery furniture on saturday. My BIL is comignt o decorate the nursery..IM having "pale apple" walls....and a "nemo" scene painted, hes a really good artist...so going to have the turtles, nemo, dory etc....Cant wait! x
How annoying about the hospital Lulubump!!! very for you!

MotherofZ · 06/09/2007 13:55

Then nemo scenes sound sooooo lovely!

Can he come and do my DD room? She loves nemo and DH has spoilt her with lots of Nemo toys and cushions.

Lulubump · 06/09/2007 14:06

Beller that sounds gorgeous!

beller · 06/09/2007 14:17

Well I was going to go for disney characters..but I love Nemo too...so thought it would be a bit different..looking forward to it now.

Welcome sillysausages!! xx

Angechica · 06/09/2007 14:33

DH bought me one of those bikini timmers last Christmas - mainly so as I would have to open it in front of my mum (The prev year he bought me a vibrating yellow rubber duck for the same reason). I can't get along with it tho, prefer Immac!

Our Freecycle haul so far is Baby light show, bouncing cradle, 2 baths, bag of clothes, cot mobile, Moses basket & bedding & rocker. Lot of this is Classic Pooh from Mothercare which I am collecting. But beller your room sounds lovely. Have got as far as stripping wallpaper and clearing out spare room. Which leaves us with no spare room as we only have a 2brdm house. Fingers crossed DH gets a deputy head job or something.

Meant to tell all you ladies Tesco and Asda both had "baby events" on last week I got a few toiletries etc. Not sure if they still on though.
