Hellooooo there

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
MotherofZ · 03/09/2007 08:18

Morning all!
Hope you had a good weekend. Had a lvoely birthday - loads of pressies and cards. Hubby took me out for a lovely and very expensive meal, which I threw up....
Beller your XP or sperm doner (not sure what you are calling him) sounds like a bit of a wimp if he can't tell his family. I just feel like telling people like that to get thier act together and sort their life out!!
Feeling loads of kicks over the weekend and could feel little one under the rib cage as it felt so uncomfortable....

BeckyAu · 03/09/2007 09:07

Morning all!

Happy belated birthday MotherofZ though so sorry you had to waste a top notch meal

Beller - what a wimp "he" is! I'm not sure what term to use for him, your XP. But like you say, it's better to know where you stand and Babybel is going to be so gorgeous and loved by you and we are all here too

I am just logging on quickly before I go and bang on our solicitor's door. We were told all last week that everything was in place from our side and we were to sign the papers on friday for exchange today. As it turned out the papers weren't ready til 5.30pm on Friday and when we read them there are a couple of potentially huge issues that we need sorted before we exchange. Not too unusual you might think but the solicitor has had the papers for ages - she received them at the end of JULY!!!!!! My DH is so cross! As am I to be honest but I keep getting massive stress headaches over it all. I never really understood why moving house was so stressful before now... but I get it now!

Best bit about the weekend? I think I felt a bubly movement from beanie on both friday and saturday evening. It was like a sort of ripple - and in the sam e place both times. Either beanie or wind! Can't wait for definite movements!

Sorry.. rant over! Am off to kick some butt now - wish me luck xxx

MrsMcJnr · 03/09/2007 09:26

Mum2sons nice to see you again! Glad to hear that all is going well but sorry to hear that you are still sick have you had your 20 week scan yet? Mine?s tomorrow, excited and nervous all at once.

Peckarolloveragain ? great idea and totally agree with you I?ll give you one of mine once I get a pic, I must get one for Beanie?s birth book how are you feeling? do you know what you are having?

Beller DH thinks he might have felt a kick or two last night, I certainly did, quite strong! glad you are enjoying your kicks have to say, I don?t like the sound of your XP! It does sound like he is in denial about Babybel, he?ll get a shock when he sees your bump how do you feel about him ? were you/are you in love with him? Does all this hurt you? Ignore me if I am being nosey I just want to check you are ok. I had about splash of red wine yesterday with my roast dinner, I really enjoyed it

MotherofZ ? glad you had a lovely birthday sorry you were sick though!

Beckyau so sorry that you are having all this stress with the house totally unacceptable behaviour by your solicitor if she has had all the paperwork that long, sounds like you need to call the senior partner of the firm to me and complain. Glad you?ve felt some movements too

Bettymamma · 03/09/2007 09:33

Good luck Beckyau - hope it all goes well! I did this move thing in February it was SO annoying but worth it when we got in.

Beller - I was thinking about you yesterday isn't that bizarre! I though - i bet he hasn't turned up again. I nearly got run over by a london cabbie this morning - he appeared to put his foot on the accelerator when he saw i was pregnant and on a zebra crossing. Do you reckon it was him>??!

MotherofZ - Happy belated birthday to you - sorry to hear about the throwing up. That counts for you too mums2sons!

MrsMcJ - too have been getting the spots or 'boils' as i prefer to call them around hairline. It's all hormones I reckon. Someone told me it's a sign it's a boy - i won't argue with scan lady! Yes that is me in the pic with my dd. I could eat her she is so sweet. She's not coping very well with dh being away.

Awen - HOw's the mice? Dh went on Friday for 4-5 weeks to China. I'm doing fine by dd has become very clingy. Went mental when i dropped her off at my mums today. Very hard to explain why hes not there especially when he's missing her birthday.

Everyone else - hellllooooo

Angechica · 03/09/2007 10:12

Hi all, someone further down the thread was saying about looking on the August threads to see the birth stories ... I'm guilty of that too, lots of lovely stories making my cry (but then I cry at adverts at the moment).

LOL at the poor lady who drank castor oil ...

BUT - the horror! re the lady who had 20 stitches around her front bottom area, I know the perineum can tear but I have never read or heard of the front bits tearing like that!!!

Eek.

MotherofZ · 03/09/2007 10:20

I had an episitomy and seven stiches last time.

gingeme · 03/09/2007 10:33

Good morning ladies. You all sound well. My heartburn has set in now. Been waking up about 2 am to take a swig of Gaviscon. I hate heart burn. Dont suffer from it except in pregnancy.
Beller oh Beller ypu XP sounds a real pain in the bum. What are you expecting from him exactly? Do you want any payments towards baby? Maybe you need to sit him down and tell him exactly what you need and expect. Men need it to be pointed out to them sometimes. When my XP walked out on me and my two older boys I realy didnt expect anything from him basicaly because I was the one that worked whan we were together anyway. But alteast he saw the boys every weekend regularly and helped a bit if I was poorly or needed a break. I hope you can sort something soon
Motherofz HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU
Awen, mice, ew! Are they all gone now? Maybe you need to get a cat
Best of luck to you Beckyau with your solicitor. Keep us posted.
Well Im going to have a glass of milk and a chocolate biscuit now. For my ketones ofcourse

Naetha · 03/09/2007 10:34

Hello all!

Conveyancing solicitors seem to be the laziest, good-for-nothing people ever! It took us so long to move house before because of solicitor cock-ups!

Had quite a busy weekend - picked up our new car straight after work on Friday went out for a work night out on Friday, mowed the lawn on saturday (no help from DH - he fell asleep!), went out for our softball end of season night-out on saturday, then plumbed in a washing machine on sunday!

In addition to that, the shower exploded on Sunday afternoon so we've been without water since mid afternoon yesterday! I also majorly burned the roof of my mouth on a pizza as well - all the skin has come off and it hurts

Other than that, life's grand - looking forwards to my hols in Jersey on Wednesday

Although my boss is being a pain, so won't be able to post much here today - he keeps on trying to surprise me when I'm sending personal emails or posting on here - he can always tell as well because I type so fast!

MrsMcJnr · 03/09/2007 11:13

Bettymamma ? thanks for the empathy on the spot/boils. LOL at the sign it?s a boy ? I increasingly think Beanie?s a boy, don?t know why, really don?t mind. Hope DD is better soon and doesn?t miss her Daddy too much.

I think we should, for a Monday laugh, jot down as many old wives tales on sex that we can think of, I don?t know many but so far I?ve heard:

  1. good hair means a boy, girls give you matt hair
  2. citrus cravings mean a girl
  3. girls have a faster heartbeat
  4. girls give you more MS
  5. boys give you spots!

Please add

Angechica that was one of my MN chums with all the stitches, she seemed so unfazed by it too!!

MotherofZ- don?t mention that really scary E word!! At the moment (because I know nothing about this birth stuff!) that sounds like the worst thing that could happen!

Gingeme ? sorry about the heartburn my cats would run a mile if they saw a mouse, useless!

Naetha ? wow that was a busy weekend, bet you are shattered today! I think the speed of my typing gives me away sometimes too! Have fun in Jersey if we don?t see you back before then.

fluffymummy · 03/09/2007 11:25

Hi ladies, I'm just back from my 20 week scan and quite relieved...been getting increasingly anxious over the last few days as I haven't felt any movement and, anyway, I always worry before a scan! But Grape behaved beautifully for the cameras, everything is where is it meant to be, and nothing where it isn't. Even got a couple of reasonably baby-like photos!! In floods of tears of course...but really happy.

We did find out the flavour, but aren't going to tell anyone at all for a while. Not sure whether that applies to MN as well as the 'real' world, but I sort of think it does especially as I'm hopefully going to be meeting some of you in 2 weeks!!

Glad you all had reasonable weekends (Naetha, you have utmost sympathy for the mouth burn- isn't hot cheese the worst?! and Gingeme, I'm beginning to think I should locate cash and carry quantities of Gaviscon...horrible stuff, but it does work!)...

Anyway, I'm off to Glasgow in about 2 hours until Wednesday night (boo!) for work (who still don't know I'm pregnant!) - locating outfits that don't show bump is getting increasinly hard! - so I probably won't check in until Thursday. Of course, I may never be able to catch up ever again, this thread grows so fast!!!!
Love to all of you, FM xxx

PS MrsM, I've got 2 for your list:

  1. Girls make you more sick than boys
  2. If the bump is 'all front' its a boy, if its 'all the way around' its a girl.
Bettymamma · 03/09/2007 12:21

Thanks MrsMcJ - you are lovely.

Additions to your list

  1. If you're being argumentative and aggressive its a boy
  2. If your urine is bright yellow(!?) - its a boy

I thought the e-word would be the most scariest possibility in childbirth but then i met someone in my post-natal group who had torn naturally and her bottom had joined her
lady parts. I think most midwives avoid this happening!

Fluffymummy - congrats on your scan. It's lovely isn't it. Good luck in Glasgow.

Naetha - there are rumours that they are monitoring our 'internet' usage today at my work. Boo! What are they going to do - sack me? I have 3 months left!

Gingeme - sorry about the heartburn. Have you tried peppermint tea in the evening as well?

Am starting pregnancy yoga tomorrow night - oh scary. Anyone else indulging in this??

gingeme · 03/09/2007 12:33

No I havnt Bettymamma. I might put that on my shopping list. Is peppermint cordial good too? I rememeber having that when I was little and had tummy ache. It was yummy.
Aw fluffymummy brilliant news on the scan front so glad it went well.
Tesco or Morrisons do Heartburn and indegestion liquid which is just as good as Gaviscon and half the price. I buy a bottle every time we go shopping

Some more for your list and trust me Ive heard them all

  1. If you get heart burn your baby will have lots of hair.
  2. If your feet swell your having a girl.
  3. If you carry high its a girl/low its a boy.
  4. If you fancy sweet stuff its a girl/savoury its a boy.
  5. If your nose changes shape its a girl
  6. Bad skin/hair its a girl. If you suffer migranes its a girl. All a complete load of rubbish Im afraid. Lol @ your cat Mrsmcjnr. The cat we used to have was a bit like that. We used to say he was the original scaredy cat. Stupid thing. Well were off to my mil's for lunch now. Probably pop in later. Need some definites for the meet up please? Going to ring and book a table on Thursday. Thanks
Bettymamma · 03/09/2007 12:37

oh will ask my mum about babysitting tonight gingeme! Love your old wives list - forgot the one about indigestion and hair. Had that all the time from my sis when i was expecting my dd and had indigestion. Peppermint cordial - sounds yum! There's that alcoholic drink as well which is bright green and pepperminty. Maybe thats not advisable.

beller · 03/09/2007 12:43

Bettymamma- Hope it goes smoothly..moving house is very stressful!! Not what you need x

Motherofz- Glad you had a nice birthday xx

Mrsmcjnr - I just feel like he is a wimp, not a man! He knew what contraception i was usisng, which was the persona, i know its not the most effective, but has worked for me for 7 years..if he didnt like that he should have taken his own resposibiltys and work a condom!? I wouldnt say we were in love..but was deifnately moving along those lines and had spoken about him moving in. Its alla bit tough to be honest, and i think im moe annoyed at myself for letting him get to me again. Maybe im just better writing him out of my life altoegther. Im not going to let him wander in and out when he feels like it!

bettymama- haha could have been! He probably freaks out everytime he sees a prgnant lady!

Gingme - I Told him friday that i didnt want a realtionship with him, but would have liked to stay friends and that babybel would grow up knowing who his/her father was....Thats all i expect really..maybe its to much!!

Naaetha- Ouch that hurts and seems to take ages to clear up!

Mrsmcjnr - according the old wives takes im having a girl and a boy! haha
others I have heard...
If your leg and under arm hair grows quick its a boy..
Crave sweet things a girl.
Carry high a girl, carry low a boy...
if your face goes "round" a girl..
this test says im 53 a girl and 47 a boy!

MotherofZ · 03/09/2007 13:10

Thanks to all those who wished me well for my birthday - you are a lovely bunch!!

Mrs McJnr - Hope i didn't scare you about episiotomies - but I still remember hobbling for about a week after!!

Gingeme - am starting to get heartburn on and off - mainly after the evening meal

Congratulations on your scan Fluffymummy - you sure you're not tempted to share with us .

Those gender prediction test are pants - I keep getting 50% girl and 50% boy - can you believe the chances!!! Although I do agree slighty with the heartburn and hair correlation. I had terrible heartburn and when DD was born she had a whole mop of hair.

Just had a massive jacket pot for lunch, feel so drowsy......

beller · 03/09/2007 13:27

flufymummy - glad the scan went well xxx

BWMum · 03/09/2007 14:18

Happy brither MotherofZ !

Went to John Lewis at the weekend for nursery appointment - Mrs Mc, think you were curious about it? Anyway, I thought it was pretty useful. I'm a first timer and completely ignorant so was good to have someone run through all the different things. They make a list as you go but you don't have to buy the things on it. I put things on the list as a reminder to myself - e.g. things I know we will need, things I want to find out more about, things I'm sceptical are necessary but want to talk to someone else about.... - you get the idea!

Was also good for easing DH into the whole buying stuff for the baby process....!

Bettymamma · 03/09/2007 14:24

BWmum - that sounds very helpful. I know they are after mostly your money but it is nice for someone to go through absolutely everything you may need. I know it can get confusing.

MotherofZ - i won't tell on you if you fall asleep under the desk.

Beller - he's being rubbish. You look lovely on your pics by the way. I'm sure one day a lovely prince charming man will rush you off your feet - not that we need men for happiness!

Ladies - just one more thing (you can ignore this if you like). How's the weight gain? I'm avoiding the scales but i think i got to a stone!

MotherofZ · 03/09/2007 14:34

Have entered the 'double - digits' zone on my weighing scales and put on just over a stone.

Neuro · 03/09/2007 14:44

Hullo ladies
Off the top of your heads...what is the legal situation if you decide not to return to your job?
IE, I plan to take the full 9 months off, but what is the latest point i have to tell my employer i won't be coming back?
Thanks!

toomanyshoes · 03/09/2007 14:45

hello, got a day off today so finally have a chance to post in the day (never get a minute when in the office and it's all open plan so chances of boss pouncing when on mumsnet are v high!) DH got up and took DD to nursery and I have spent all morning in bed watching rubbish telly, it was fab! Had a great weekend too, went to zoo with DD and some friends yesterday which she loved and went to see 'knocked up' at cinema on saturday. I highly recommend it, very funny indeed. Particularly when pregnant!

Gingeme - I also get awful heartburn when pregnant, its only got bad in the last 3 weeks but I am constantly swigging gaviscon and chewing rennies, horrible!

MrsMcJnr - i was terrified of having an episiotomy last time but when it happened it really didn't bother me at all - didn't feel it when they did it and healed v fast. I found my whole birth experience really positive. I am actually really looking forward to doing it all again as despite the pain it was just so amazing to meet DD (and tbh the pain was not even half as bad as I had expected!)

Beller, sorry ex is still behaving like a tosser! At least he is consistent!! Hope he turns up tonight, must just be so frustrating not to know exactly what he is planning to do and how involved he is going to be.

Hi to everybody else, am off to make some lunch now and then start sorting out all the baby stuff in the loft (lots of pink things to go on e-bay now I know its a boy) x

Neuro · 03/09/2007 14:48

I am 11 stone 8 lbs. So at least 20lbs heavier than normal. ARRGGHHH. I am hoping it's all the extra blood and stuff!
Right, i'm going to find out how heavy all the extra blood is.

MrsMcJnr · 03/09/2007 14:58

Fluffymummy ? so glad all went well, I hope I am saying exactly the same as you tomorrow ohhhhh we?re not just anyone you know!!! Enjoy Glasgow can?t believe you are still managing to keep your pregnancy a secret at work there?s no way I?d get away with that now. Like the additions to the list

Bettymamma ? thanks. Like the additions and there was I thinking I was just a moody cow and that I didn?t drink enough water ohhhh ouch that tearing sounded nasty, I lived with a midwife in training once and do remember the whole tearing v cutting debate ? no no no to either!! Enjoy the yoga, I keep meaning to try a drop in class here. I got to my first aqua natal next Weds (must get a cosie and prune the lady garden first though ? sorry if TMI) Move away from the crème de menthe! 2 pounds of gain so far but then I started off way to big for me.

Gingeme I knew you?d have some good ones for the list I was watching ?Special Delivery? on TV at the weekend (in floods of tears as usual of course) and there was a woman having her 8th! She had 7 daughters and this one was a son ? god, I was bawling it was so lovely seeing how happy she was! They all seem to have their babies on their backs in these American programmes and they give them amnios before they induce them ? no thanks! I like your old wives tale about the nose, that?s so funny by your list, so far, my baby will be bald, my feet, my diet, skin, hair, migraines and my nose (thankfully!) suggest it?s a boy but my belly suggests it?s a girl! Let?s hope its one or the other! Wish I could come and meet you all

Beller ? oh hon, you must have so many mixed emotions ? I do hope Babybel inherits all his good traits and not his bad ones and that his behaviour doesn?t deteriorate any further. I?m sure it must be so hard. Don?t feel you have to be brave with us, we are all here for you if you ever need to vent x Like you additions to the list too like your smiley pictures

MotherofZ ? la la la can?t hear what you are saying about the E word la la la

BWMum ? thanks for reporting back on the appointment ? I rang the Nursery advisor this morning but she still hasn?t called back crap service! I?ve now called again and have an appointment for Sunday. I guess even if you don?t use the list you assembled, it will be handy for the relies if they want to get something

Neuro ? don?t know the answer to your question I?m afraid but would be interested to know

Toomanyshoes ? I live dangerously, I work in an open plan office too! sounds like you are having a lovely day. Thanks for making me feel better about the big E!

Neuro · 03/09/2007 14:59

I've found the answer to my question about not returning to work. (You just give normal amount of notice and can be done on maternity leave at any point).

MrsMcJnr · 03/09/2007 15:02

oh no, that's not good for me, I have a 3 month notice period - where do I find that info do you know?
