Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Bettymamma · 29/08/2007 16:55

leaving in 6 mins mixedmama - come with me!

mixedmama · 29/08/2007 16:55

Am I the only one who is lost here??

OP posts:
Angechica · 29/08/2007 16:59

Sorry - it's gone now.

I've seen some of this programme at breakfast time on BBC2. And I don't even have kids yet!

Think I like it better than Teletubbies. It reminds me of the things I used to watch in the 70s, Trumpton etc. I liked Bod and Mr Benn.

gingeme · 29/08/2007 17:31

The profrmme is called In The Night Garden and my two watch it at 6.25 on Cbeebies. Its there sign that its nearly bath and bed time.
Dont know exactly what ketones are sorry but I was assured they wouldnt hurt the baby or me just make me feel tired and can cause headaches. Its because my body is running out of calories as Im not eating and drinking enough. Im supposed to be eating little and often. Plus running after a 10 month old is wearing me out too.
A bit of an important note re car seats. Please please do not leave baby in them for over an hour as it can cause blue baby syndrome. As the baby is squashed in the same position it can cause the wind pipe to crush thus cutting babys air supply off. Thats why I used a ring sling with ds4 as soon as I got him out of the car and once he was a bit bigger I put him in his buggy.

LouiseSJ · 29/08/2007 20:54

Hi everyone. As usual I am finding it impossible to keep up with so many messages. I have just skimmed through. Glad that there is lots of good news about 20 week scans.

Gingeme - what is this is about not having the baby in the car seat for more than an hour? My family live miles away so we'll be taking the baby on long car journeys. What is a ring sling?

gingeme · 29/08/2007 21:36

Loiusesj it was on mumsnet about a year ago. Yes my parents live about 2 hours away too. You should stop for a break on the way and take baby out and check on it through your journey. There have been 3 cases reported of it happening. Its because baby is all squashed up and because it cant support the neck it stays squashed.
A ring sling is like a long piece of cloth with two rings with the material threaded through so it holds baby to you. It goes over your shoulder and is brill for bf because it totaly covers your shoulder and baby. Its hard to describe it. I was wearing one when ds4 was tiny and a lady asked where I got my bag from. She was very suprised when she saw it was holding a baby.
Ill try and get the website from my friend who leant me the sling.

toomanyshoes · 29/08/2007 22:04

hello, so pleased to hear some more good scan news. Am so impressed that some of you have fought the urge to find out what you are having. I am the kind of person that still looks for their christmas presents and I am 32! Not very good at surprises and was desperate to start buying stuff! have gone a bit mad in Cath Kidston buying cowboy wallpaper and all sorts of other totally unneccesary things.
Although we had a scan to find out the sex my official 20 week scan is not til next tuesday when I will be about 24 weeks! Haven't seen the midwife since I was 11 weeks so really need to book an appointment. Feeing fine though so not too worried. Have cut and pasted list again with my new due date and flavour of baby x

beller · 30/08/2007 08:50

Mornign all!

Bettymamma - No I didnt have a bump last time I saw him...we will see..im still not convinced he will turn up? If anything i think the bump will freak him out more

Angechica - My boobs have gone mad too..have bought 3 sets of new bras so far...!

Mixedmamma - my friends boobs didnt change at all during prgnancy, then got bigger after the baby? I was lost on that thread too?

Hope everyone is well today xx

mixedmama · 30/08/2007 09:04

Morning,

Not much to report here again - baby is very very active. Got DH to feellast night and when i said did you feel it he was like "I think so, but not sure if it was pulse in my fingers" -

Had a really annoying chilld about 6-7 on the bus on the way home last night kicking my chair all the way, was getting really annoyed and thought i might put him in a headlock. I knoow he is only a kid but this wasnt silly accidental kicking he was really going for it and his mum was just busy on the phone

OP posts:
MotherofZ · 30/08/2007 09:10

Morning all,

Talking about kicking, has anyone's DD or DS kicked thier bump by accident? My DD has a habit of going for me when I'm trying to change her nappy and a couple of times she's got me. I know the baby is well protected inside, but can't stop the little niggles of worry.

Ooooooh can't stand it when parents aren't paying attention to rioting kids!!!!

mixedmama · 30/08/2007 09:11

Yeah my DS likes to dive onto my belly to fall asleep, and def does kicking when changing nappy.

OP posts:
LouiseSJ · 30/08/2007 09:23

Gingeme - thanks for the advice about car seats. I learn so much from this thread.

Mixedmama - My dh also felt the baby move last night. I have been feeling movements on the inside for a while now and they are getting stronger all the time. But last night was the first time we felt it from the outside. I know what you mean though, the movement is so subtle you wonder if it is a pulse in your hand, or if it is just wind.

mixedmama · 30/08/2007 09:25

The thing is they were proper hard punches, kicks or whatever and he only felt it once and I was like how could you not feel that it was sooo strong.

OP posts:
Naetha · 30/08/2007 09:39

A couple of times my cats have used the bump as a springboard, and although its a bit sore for a minute or so, I know the bump gets his own back occasionally when he kicks the cat asleep on my bump!

Got a long day at work today - one of those days where you've got stuff to do, but its really boring and the deadline isn't imminent, and nobody else is in so its really quiet...

Also very annoying because a new book from Amazon has just turned up - its the last book by one of my favourite authors who died earlier this year - it was finished by his wife and I'm desperate to read it rather than be at work!!

mixedmama · 30/08/2007 09:50

The one good thing about my current booking is I can readd and answer the phone.

I finished my book last night - took ages as I was constantly googling things as it was quite a severe topic. Just starting my new book very excited.

OP posts:
MotherofZ · 30/08/2007 09:51

so quiet here too, loads of people on a/l

katyt1 · 30/08/2007 10:02

a quickie to say hi i'm still around just busy with holidays at the mo - nothing too extravagant, staying with friends, etc.
off tomorrow for a week in majorca with the in-laws
then have my 20 week scan when we get back.
hope everyone is ok, don't stand a chance at catching up properly, will try again after hols.
keep well everyone

gingeme · 30/08/2007 10:29

Glad to be of help. I was stunned when I first heard about it as I used to wheel ds3 around in his travel system for ages around the shops so I didnt wake him. Horrid to think wht could have happened.
Feeling a bit sicky this morning. Think its cup of tea and flap jack time.
Have a good day all. xxx

MotherofZ · 30/08/2007 10:46

At what age can they spend more than 1 hr in the car seat?

gingeme · 30/08/2007 10:49

Not sure motherofz. I presume is when they can hold thier head a bit better. If your one of these clever people who can look at archive threads try to find the one about babys and car seats. Sorry realy cant help other than that.

gingeme · 30/08/2007 10:50

19th September still up for grabs. Any more advance for a meet up anyone?

mixedmama · 30/08/2007 10:52

i am still up for it
