Hello everyone

Whoa what a day, I'm knackered! Got to nursery for 8.45am, it was 9.45am before we had got everyone on the coach in their car seats, 20 kids, 10 adults. Set off for the zoo, stopped at 10.10am due to a flat tyre then had to wait for another coach to come out to us and then preceded to have to get everyone off and back on the new coach. Set off again at 10:50am so not too bad considering, but the kids weren't happy. Got to the zoo (Twycross) at about 11.40 and the weather which had been nice and turned very grey and windy and cold... brrrr! luckily it brightened up later and by the time we left to come home at 4pm it was quite hot.

Got home at 5.40pm and passed Sam over to the babysitter at 6pm and left to go and pick up DH fom work to go for our hospital tour at 7pm. Got home 30 mins ago, my feet and legs ache and I am really tired, off to bed soon. Oh and now I have had the tour its bought it all into stark reality, I DON'T WANT TO DO LABOUR AGAIN aaarrgghh! I'm scared

lisad123 · 22/08/2007 21:17

evening all. I think im going to stop going to the hospital now
My consultant is still refusing to book a section for me and saying i should manage natural labour by this point i broke down in tears, Im so tired and in so much pain.
However, LO heart rate was too high when midwife checked so off they sent me to the ward for an hours monitoring. problem was i cant sit in one position for more than 10 mins before Im in agnony . LO heart rate did slow down after about 30 mins, but have to go back tomorrow for same test and they have booked an emergency scan too for 3pm. Im so tired of all this worry. Consultant suggested that if she continues to have raise heart beat, natural labour choices might be out the window any way. Im more confused now than this morning.
So sorry to moan. Im off to bath and bed as so worn out now. Will be sure to update after tomorrow.
Night

Lisa

Oh Muppet my Heart rate is also high, they think its because of extra blood flow, but did have to see cardio team as it was 144 resting , butnow stands about 110-120 resting so slightly better. hugs

ejt1764 · 22/08/2007 21:24

oh lisa ..... {{{{{{{{{{{{{{hugs}}}}}}}}}}}}} and gentle pats to you!

I wish they'd put you out of your misery where the C section decsion is concerned!

Hope you sleep well tonight ...

j20baby · 22/08/2007 21:40

Aww Lisa- poor you, haven?t you got a sympathetic GP or MW that can help you get the result you want?

Mrsfish-sounds like an exhausting day, hope you had fun, and I am seriously terrified about being in labour again, I try not to think about it!

Inzi-glad your dp?s are going to GP, and well done you for supporting them bloody woodchip, at least it will be done properly when you?ve finished

Alice-make sure you do ring about physio {stern emotiocom}

Apricot-how dare they fail their exams and ruin your time off! Selfish blighters!

Ejt-glad you feel better about doula, I?ve not heard anything from the people about mine, doesn?t look like I?ll be having one very about new bed-mine?s falling apart!

Muppet-sounds like you had a lovely morning, wish I knew how to crotchet! Have you decided on the name Henry for lo then? Sorry if you?ve already said!

Winnie-how weird about the cow and gate woman, maybe she did it by accident?

Nellie-its been horrible weather here too, I?m not complaining apart from I can?t get any washing done!

Mump lol at sister-her first baby is it?

Well, cat hasn?t come back, rung all the vets and the council cleansing dept, no news at vets, but council are meant to ring me back. Have been shopping today and been cleaning, dd has been a pita, and I?m shattered, although have just done my roots, so that?s another job out of the way.

Anyone know of a nice maternity dress, that?s not too expensive and can get here by
Sat? meant to be going out Sun for my birthday, and would like to have something decent to wear!

muppetgirl · 22/08/2007 21:40

Oh you poor thing Lisa, you must be soooo fed up as they say one thing and do another. Good luck for the scan tomorrow

Mrs Fish, you can do it again once you're in labour your natural instincts will take over. Before long we will all be complaining about lack of sleep, leaky boobs etc!!!

Atm when I am a little down I listen to Mica's cd which is silly but really fun. Ds loves Billy Brown and asks for it in the car.
Big girls is a fab song and really apt atm!!!

j20baby · 22/08/2007 21:40

that just took me half an hour to write!

Inzi ? great news about your mum! Sorry you had a rubbish day decorating rather than chilling on the sun though! Fingers crossed you get it all sorted soon?.

MrsFish ? your day sounds manic but fun. Hope you get a good nights sleep tonight ? not surprised you?re tired. Have to say that I?m much more apprehensive about having to go through labour and a vaginal delivery than I was last time. Almost 100% decided on the elective section all being well but obviously if things kick off early I might not get the choice ? I got to 9cm last time before needing an emergency section and had progressed pretty quickly till then?. Fingers crossed to him staying put till the planned date! Sure though that we will all cope with whatever is thrown at us ? its worth it for the lo at the end isn?t it?

Lisa ? shocked at your consultant refusing to agree to an elective section after your emergency one last time. I am in the same boat and was given the choice which I understand is standard practice these days. Ask for a second opinion and ask your midwife to refer you to someone who is a bit more pre sections ? opinions do vary between different docs. You are entitled to ask for this if you are not happy with the care you are getting.

J20 ? sorry to hear your cat is still missing. Fingers crossed for good news soon? And good luck finding a dress for your night out! Happy birthday for Monday in case baby brain means I forget to say it then!

Anyway off to bed ladies as shattered?.. Speak tomorrow x

FloriaTosca · 22/08/2007 23:52

J20; I'm sorrry about your worry for the cat..I do hope you can track him/her down...we found ours years ago sitting on a neighbours dining room table; he'd decided to go for a holiday!

Inzi; good news that your parents have cut down so much and are getting help. Wood chip is a nightmare! At least when the plasterer is done (good luck on that; they're as rare as hens' teeth round here!)you will have perfect pristine walls. Had to smile when you mentioned Klegs; I haven't heard that word since I lived in Glasgow and it brought back happy memories.I tried your hot compress idea, sorry but it made no impression on it..the half egg effect seemed to go down at lunch time but I think it was just so it could spread, as my whole hand is now so swollen my knuckles are now depressions rather than lumps, it is itching like mad and the cream the pharmacist gave me isn't doing anything to relieve it..I think I'll have to see the gp tomorrow if it hasn't cleared itself up overnight. And thanks for the offer..it is very much appreciated.

Alice, glad the pain wasn't so bad today (if it had been you would have found the time to book for physio!)but hope you get sorted tomorrow because sadly (bad Arnie impression)it will be back.

Muppet; no wonder you are exhausted! Glad the weather bucked up for you in the end.

Lisa; sorry you are getting such mixed messages from your consultant and leaving you hanging about your decision. At least they are monitoring you closely .

sorry if I missed anyone but my eyes are starting to blurr with tiredness...I'd better get off to be before i drop off here and now. Sleep well everyone

ChocolateHobnob · 23/08/2007 06:53

Hi everyone,

Lisa, you sound really down! I agree with Alicet - do try and seek a second opinion. I know nothing about the medical arguments between elective cs and vbac, but it is clear that there's varying practice. My SIL had emergency caesarian for her first and was routinely offered elective for her second. Another friend was in same boat and had to really push for a vbac (and home birth!). I don't like to think too much about labour as it's best that I don't know quite how horrible it is!!!

J20, hope the cat turns up!

Inzi, I'm glad your parents are trying. It must be hard for them!

Floria, good luck at the GP.

Mrs Fish and Muppet, you're making me feel tired!

Alicet, are you going to ring the mw today?

It was my birthday yesterday, which was nice (though I was working). DH made dinner, which he doesn't very often because I like cooking and he doesn't; he made sole veronique which was delicious. And I got lots of lovely presents. Felt q spoilt.

I have been getting the funny tightening in my bump recently (Braxton H?) and despite being exhausted I am not sleeping brilliantly. I hope this is a temporary thing - I was hoping to store up loads of sleep before the lo arrives (I know noone can, but I sort of thought since I'm such a sleepyhead I could!).

Have a good day, everyone!

MrsFish · 23/08/2007 08:10

Happy Birthday for yesterday Chocolate , glad you had a nice day

J20 - hope you find your cat soon

FT - hope your hand is better this morning, its the last thing you need to stop you from sleeping.

Lisa - good luck for your scan today.

Well I had a decent nights sleep for once, only woke up 3 times ( I think) but still feel tired, probably because of yesterday. Might try another nap this afternoon when ds is at nursery Although there is a lot of housework that needs doing

The sun is shining here today, hope everyone has a good one.

lisad123 · 23/08/2007 08:48

Thanks for all the messages, as you can understand i didnt sleep well and when i did I had very odd dreams about french nuns and talking dogs
My mum is coming to get Tanisha early today so will rest up before my scan and monitor. I have to see my consultant in 2 weeks and Darren is coming with me (he couldnt make it yesterday) so Im trusting him to back me up. Im also going to do a pro's and con's lists for VBAC and csection and make the consultant explain all of the concerns i have about VBAC!

I tried to tell him yesterday that all of Tanisha's growth scans had said she was fine and I couldnt understand why he was doing those instead of dopplers, his answer was so stupid!! "well we have to trust whatt he scans tell us, because otherwise theres no point". Typical doctor logic, trust machine rather than people!!

J20 did you find the cat yet?? My friend was cat sittingwhile we were away and neighbours cat wondered into my house and she shut him in thinking he was mine and told me he was acting odd! I got back 3 days later to find next doors cat LOL

at all of you with sun, its been raining for the last 3 days here.

Hope your all well today.

Lisa

WinnieThePooh · 23/08/2007 08:57

Morning everyone.

It is a lovely day here again. It is also forecast to be nice over the weekend, which will please DP as he is going to be building DD's climbing frame as long as it all arrives tomorrow.

I have a busy day today. DD is going to a birthday party at 10.45qm for a couple of hours and I am going to do an Avon appointment while she is there (hopefully the girl will be in this time). Got my midwife appointment at 2pm, then need to go to the supermarket for a few bit after that.

I think this is the point at which we discuss my birth plan, I also want to ask what I should be putting in my hospital bag. I have started, but am sure that I have forgotten stuff (it has been 5 years since I last had to do it).

I hope everyone has a good day.

FloriaTosca · 23/08/2007 09:19

Good Morning!
The sun is shining here too, not a cloud in the sky..amazing!
Well I actually only woke once in the night!!! With Dh away I used his pillows to prop up my hand and the elevation seems to have drained it a bit; I've still got knuckles between my knuckles but at least it doesn't look like a boxing glove, just podgy and too swollen to make a fist. Such a relief; I really didn't want to see my GP, I'm still dis-chuffed with her after her telephone lecture on Monday, unforgiving nasty bat that I am.
Happy birthday for yesterday Choc. How lovely to have sucha gourmet meal cooked for you..my DH hates cooking too and would have rustled up his blow your head off chilli or a take away at best. And it is nice to be spoiled once in a while..enjoy it while you can!
MrsF I meant the "no wonder you are exhausted" comment for you yesterday as well as Muppet...sorry to have missed you off, I was cross eyed with exhaustion myself last night without half the reason you two had..I hope you manage to catch up on some rest today.

muppetgirl · 23/08/2007 09:29

Hi all,

Glad the hand is a bit better Mrs Fish!

J20 -Hope the cat turns up, my neighbour has 'bob' who quitr often goes walkies and she threatens to put all his stuff in the bin (bowl, food toys etc) and he seems to pop up again!

Lisa -hpe the scan goes well, good that darren is going with you my dh came with me on my consultants app as I did what I knew I would -burst into tears!! He can help you say what you want.

It is dh's Birthday today and I haven't done a thing but he is off tomorrow so I thought I had today to bake a cake get Ollie to make a card but no. He's taken today off too so we had nothing for him he is going up the gym at 11 so we have an hour to put up balloons and birthday stuff around the house. I'll buy a cake and we can have candles on it up the gym -that should suitably embarass him!

We made 5 Christmas cards yesterday and we'll do a few more today -2 blobs of cotton wool with a red paper scarf and silver glitter to look like snow -they're not bad really, though do look heavily child made

Have started Ollie's blanket for his toys as he had asked a couple of times as I'm making blankets for Henry (Yep j20 that's lo's name) and none for him. I put him to bed and he calmly told me that his toys are soooo cold mummy

Sunny here too if a little windy but atleast no rain
Speak later x

muppetgirl · 23/08/2007 09:30

Hello lovely ladies - not done my usual trick of cut and pasting from word so can't remember what everyone said!! Will do my best though....

Lisa hope all goes well today.

Chochobnob - glad you had a lovely evening last night and that your dh made such a lot of effort for your meal - sounds gorgeous!

Floria - glad your hand is better

Um - thats the limit of my memory! Big hellos to everyone else - hope you're all doign well and enjoying the sunshine where you have it! I'm off to call the midwife now about the physio - will let you know how I get on....

alicet · 23/08/2007 13:02

well I phoned the midwife and it went through to answer phone so I have left a message... Fingers crossed will hear back from her later

alicet · 23/08/2007 13:40

Midwife just called me back. She said that there are only 2 parttime antenatal physios at the hospital where I am booked in. So rather than taking routine referrals which would mean a very long waiting list they see ladies in a group on a regular basis to give advice on excercises and ways you can help. Sounds liek a good set up - I have an appointment that she has sorted for me on Wed 5th Sept so just under 2 weeks - better than most on here I think!!! She says that if things get much worse in the meantime andmy mobility is severely affected to get back in touch and she can refer me urgently. So very happy with that outcome!

Hope the rest of you are having a lovely day...

MrsFish · 23/08/2007 14:32

Good afternoon everyone

Well ds is at nursery and I had intended to catch up with some long overdue housework, upstairs needs hoovering and cleaning and the floors downstairs need mopping (I did manage to vacumn them this morning) plus I have a shitload of ironing ... but the sun is shining and it is lovely and warm so instead I have been sitting outside eating icepops (4 so far) and icecream and reading Peter Kays's autobiography. Well I don;t know when it is next going to be sunny and there is a lovely breeze too so I don't feel too hot... so sod the housework I'm having fun

I'm back off out there now, with a top up of icecream so I'll catch you all later, have fun

MrsFish · 23/08/2007 15:25

Well I am definitely living up to the name of this thread now

Mrs Fish I am sooo - we're in the wind and rain here. Looks like autumn outside so DS and i have been in again, baking gingerbread men. Not as good as Peter Kay in peace with ice cream, but hey! Have you tried the crunchie ice creams? yummmmmm

Alice - glad the physio is happening and inzi glad the headache has eased. happy Birthday Choc and big hello and waves to everyone else. Lisa I hope you're feeling a bit better today.

I am so so so tired today - just want to be in bed, so think DS will be getting an imposed early night! Hopefully catch up later.

FloriaTosca · 23/08/2007 18:34

Just had a nightmare getting online...I think the battery on this lap top is kn**ed, every time I fired it up it kept hibernating even though it was plugged into the mains! Anyway I've taken the battery out now and we seem to be surviving for more than 30 secs at last!
Trouble is I've got to and teach at any second now....I'll catch up and be back later.

ohhh ice cream!
