MrsFish sounds like a fab afternoon and absolutely the right decision to ditch the housework!! I spent it in town buying stuff like maternity pads, nipple shields etc and wish I had done the same!

Inzi - sorry you had a headache but glad its better...

Hello nellie! Can't remember what you said now but hello and hope all is well.

Dh is bathing ds ow so I am sitting on my arse - lovely! Will go put him to bed in a min but we're having a takeaway tonight so at least don't need to worry about dinner...

See you later x

alicet · 23/08/2007 18:37

Cross posted floria - have fun teaching! And icecream tastes revolting - carrot sticks are so much nicer!

nellieloula · 23/08/2007 19:35

ohh - what kind of take away are you having alice? i get so intrigued by other people's food - esp at the moment; seems to be all I think about!

hope teaching was ok Floria? I'm ok - still shattered and just feeling a bit down at the moment- my mum is winning awards for being most unsupportive and disinterested in ths baby person! I can usually shrug it off but I suppose it's just harder when we're more emotionally vulnerable/hormonal etc. bloody families! aarrgghh.

I shall stop there - have a lovely carrot stick/ice cream filled evening everyone.

muppetgirl · 23/08/2007 19:46

Hi all!
Dh went to the gym whilst ds and I went to get borthday cake and presents. Ds chose spiderman (with the arm having fallen off!)
and a rocket card.

We then went to the gym and ds and dh had a bat around with tennis bats and balls and then we had lunch to which ds then said 'daddy, we have bought you cake and balloons too....'

...bang goes that surprise then!!!

We then came back and I slept all afternoon -agree with you on the tiredness nellie, whilst dh took ds swimming.

Just about to settle in front of the telly for the night with ds's blanket for his toys that needs doing!

Speak later x

alicet · 23/08/2007 19:58

Muppet sounds liek you had a fab day afterall and sure dh appreciated all your efforts even if ds spoilt the surprise!!!

Nellie - sorry to hear you are feeling down and that your mum is being useless. Not what you need at the mo I'm sure! Big hugs coming to you.... WHat is she like with your ds? Do you think she'll change when lo has been born?
We're having chinese although not ordered it yet... Ds still grizzling a bit so want to wait till he's settled. Lots of crispy duck pancakes!!!!

emj23 · 23/08/2007 20:01

Hi all, is it too late to join in this thread a little bit? My due date is September 30th so I should've joined both Sept and Oct threads at the same time really. DS (5) was eleven days late so this one seems quite likely to end up being an October baby.

MrsFish · 23/08/2007 20:18

Hi Emj - of course its not too late I wonder which one of us will pop first

alicet · 23/08/2007 20:24

Hi there emj! And welcome - of course its not too late!

WinnieThePooh · 23/08/2007 20:35

HI everyone.

Sorry, I can't remember what everyone has said. DD had a good time at the birthday party today and I stayed with her as I could not get in touch with the girl I was meant to be appointig today. Got a lift from the party to the surgery for my MW appointment. DD got to hear the heatbeat again and she asked the MW a question as I was getting off the bed. She said "excuse me, what does the placenta look like?" This really through the midwives and they were looking for a picture, but could not find one. One said it looks like a raw beefburger. LOL.

I hope everyone has had a good day.

j20baby · 23/08/2007 22:46

hi all, just popping in to say hello

nellie- your mum sounds about as useful as mine-not very!

alice-good news about the phsio(SP) session.

muppet-kids are so bad at keeping secrets! well done with the cards.

winnie-next time your at butchers, show dd a piece of liver-she'll get the idea

alice-hope you enjoyed the chinese, mmm, duck{licks lips}

inzi-hope the boy's enjoyed their dip, keep an eye on your headache, you can't be too careful at this stage.

choc-belated happy birthday, hope you have had a nice day

mrsfish-glad you had a nice relaxing day, you should enjoy whatever sun you can get

FT-hope your hand is feeling a bit better, is your dp back tommorrow? bet your excited stupid laptop!

oo forgot to say, don't know if i lost a tiny bit of my plug today, won't go into detail, but it was just a tiny bit, hopefully my body is preparing for labour, not too soon though!

also, i'm still 42" rouynd the biggest part of my bump, but think i've spread upwards.
got measured for a bra today, am now a 38E but i don't see the point in buying a maternity bra now, and its too early to get a nursing bra, think i'll be in a 36F/G, i was a 34 DD before pg, what do other people think? did you go up much last time?

right better go see if the little darlings are asleep yet hope everyone sleeps well

Hello everyone! Glad you got through to the mw, Alicet. And 2 weeks isn't long! I'm actually feeling quite positive about the hospital where we're giving birth - I met a friend for lunch yesterday from the Lakes and her sister-in-law had been sent here to have her baby because they could handle her problems better than any other hospital around.

Inzi, glad the headaches subsided and for the tired people, I'm tired too now and I can imagine it must be a zillion times more tiring if you're already looking after a child (which most of you are!).

I've got my anti-D injection today. Luckily my hospital is conveniently located more or less across the road from my office, so I can work around it. Well - I can work around it as long as it isn't as painful as some previous posters on Mumsnet have indicated - searching the archives and reading people's experiences of it was probably a bad idea. Anyway, I'm looking upon it as an evil to be got through before a lovely long weekend. And the sun is shining here, too, and looks set to stay.

Think we might actually start buying things this weekend. I realize a lot of my anxiety about buying things is linked to the fact that my parents took ten years to conceive me (in that time they had one miscarriage), my mother had placenta praevia with me and was signed off work for the duration and they kept thinking that she would lose me (she obviously didn't - had an emergency CS when the placenta finally came away early) and then my brother and SIL were expecting a baby about a week before mine and they lost it in the early days. I think familial anxiety has worn off on me a bit but I need to be more positive (and start flexing my credit card!).

Anyway work is calling me, sort of (at least I need to go!). Can you believe I have another 8 weeks to work? I will be the size of a small elephant/whale by the end.

Have a nice day everyone, and Mrs Fish, you have soooo made me want ice pops now!!!

dal21 · 24/08/2007 07:29

Hello ChocHN - very quickly popping on. I had my anti D a few weeks back and it honestly did not hurt one iota, had no side effects, no soreness or brusing either. I was dreading it and it was absolutely fine.
The best advice ever, when the needle is going in and the injection is being given, wriggle your toes like crazy. Makes you concentrate on something else and you totally dont notice it! Promise!

lisad123 · 24/08/2007 08:44

Morning all

Well we nearly had our first Oct baby yesterday I would have done if first doc had got her way

LO heart rate is still too quick and very tacicardic, there was a point on my monitoring that she was easy hitting 200 + bpm, and then dropping to 100-110 bpm and staying there

After 2 hours, they told em i could come off to go to the loo but then back on, and if it didnt settle they would have to start discussing delivery!! I went back on and she was still too high but doc was happy enough as she didnt drop again, and was moving loads, and doc (different one) said if she was distressed she wouldnt be moving. Im home now, but in a lot of pain as they had me on monitor for over 3 hours, and witht he SPD, sitting for that long is agnony, but they refused to let me off, even though I was in so much pain i was in tears They just dont get it. Gonna ring pysio this morning.

I have to go back in again tomorrow for another monitor anfd see my consultant again on weds to discuss what happens next. Scan was ok, although head measurement has dropped again, but guessing my consultant will look at that too. Hope your all ok today.

lisa

MrsFish · 24/08/2007 09:16

Oh, so sorry to hear you are having such problems {{HUGS}} x

PolarMummy · 24/08/2007 09:36

Hi Folks, haven't posted for ages and so have no chance of catching up with what you have all been doing!

Lisa sorry you are having such a bad time, I hope that the Physio can help you and that your next monitoring isn't as painful and produces better results.

Well I had a scan on Wednesday, I am 34 weeks and the baby is already 6lbs!!!! which means in the last 4 weeks LO has doubled their weight, lets hope that doesn't happen again in the next 4 weeks. Anyway I would rather have a baby who is thriving! Can't believe how little time we have all left to go, where has the time gone, its seems like only a week ago we were talking about our first scans!!!

Hugs to everyone, hope you are all coping OK despite the aches and pains.

ejt1764 · 24/08/2007 09:51

oh lisa ... here's hoping things settle down - and that you get the spd pain sorted today ... honestly, am on your behalf. One tip, try to see if you can get to a pool, and just bob around for a bit - no actual swimming - just walk up and down within your pain-free range ... works like a treat for me every time!

j20 - dress looks lovely! I'm going to a wedding on 8th September, but don't dare wear a dress (in fact, don't own any maternity skirts!) as I have no ankles ... my legs go straight down from my kness ... so I'm wearing a stretchy dress over a pair of black trousers!

Hi emj ... welcome to the October thread - my official due date is 28th September, but as I know it would have taken an immaculate conception for babe to have been conceived for that date, I'm sticking to the date I worked out based on when I ov. ... 2nd October ... mind you, given that ds arrived 16 days after edd, then I'm not holding my breath!

Hi FT, Inzi, Winnie, MrsFish and everybody else!

Well, the bed arrived very early yesterday ... the phone rang at 7.45am and the bloke said to dh - "we've got good news and bad news." Dh: "what's that?" bloke on phone: "Well, your bed's on the van... but you're the first drop off and we'll be with you in 15 minutes!"
Cue frantic stripping (of bed, obviously!! ), collapsing of bed, and me jumping in the shower ... Bed was delivered and blokes gone by 8.15am!
I then went shoppping for new bedding yesterday ... and breast pads, big knickers and maternity towels ... Going to Dunelm Mill and Mothercare was ok, but going into Asda nearly killed me off! Sat and was very pathetic yesterday afternoon!

Bed is very comfy ...

I listened to a vbac birth preparation hypnotherapy cd last night - couldn't tell you what they said on it ... I'm obviously very susceptible to hypnosis!

This afternoon, a couple of friends from work are calling round with their kids ... it's easier for people to come to me rather than me go to them ... it's a lovely day again, so we'll kik gthe kids out into the back garden, and they can play in the den and the paddling pool, while we sit and eat cake!

Speaking of which, must go and make cakes ... blueberry muffins and banana loaf, I think!

Have a good day all ... and a good weekend if I don't manage to get on here!

lisad123 · 24/08/2007 10:27

Spoke to physio, she said there is nothing she can recommend and when it comes to monitoring the baby comes first and my pain is second. She said giving birth sitting or laying is the worse position for SPD but thats what i am going to end with because of the need to monitor She wasnt very helpful at all, and said there is nothing she can do Heres hoping my consultant chances his mind on my C section

J0 what a lovely dress I ahve a wedding on the 8th and have no idea what to wear.

Ejt, hmm new bed sounds lovely. I hope you have a nice afternoon with friends. Im off to take Tanisha to soft play with some friends who have promised to run around after her for me .

Welcome to the newbie.

emj23 · 24/08/2007 11:21

Thank you all for the welcomes. I've posted this in Sept thread too but I'm hoping someone will have something reasssuring to say on one or the other.

I'm terrified. I had my MW appointment this morning. I'm 34+5 and baby is measuring 38. I have been referred to hospital next week to find out what's going on - I have no idea if I'm measuring that big because LO has not engaged, or if I have excess fluid, or high glucose levels or if there's something wrong with her.

lisad123 · 24/08/2007 11:46

I used to measure 3 weeks ahead, then 3 weeks behind
I wouldnt worry too much, could just be MW measuring wrong, babies position or just a off day. I think most of us here have been measured ahead or behind our dates at some point.
Your been given another scan so will get to see your LO again which is nice, but try not to worry (easier said than done, we know )

Hugs
lisa

Mumpbump · 24/08/2007 11:54

Morning all. Can't keep up with you all, as per usual!

Lisa - sounds quite scary. Hope that all goes well this afternoon. I have been having a few sharp pains in my lower abdomen and have been vaguely worrying that bubba might come early. Your story certainly brings that possibility into focus! Only a couple more weeks to go before I'm officially full-term, so keeping my legs metaphorically crossed...

Polarmummy - good news on the scan!

Ejt - pleased to hear you have a comfy new bed. Hope it helps your spd.

nellieloula · 24/08/2007 12:15

Hi everyone. Lisa, you are having such a crap time of it. So sorry to hear all of that. Can you not insist on having a different, prop-section consultant? Surely you can - although Alice is best place to tell you about that. Something to definitely think about cause the care you're getting sounds pretty rubbish and painful

hello emj - welcome and try not to worry. I'm measuring much bigger too; they're checking again next week and have done the glucose fast. If you read on other threads though you'll see that there are loads of women who have measured really big and delivered 6lb babies. so I'm really trying not to give it another thought. Easier said than done, I know. Is this your first? I know 2nd babies are usually bigger anyway (that's what they told me)

polar, that's reassuring that your baby is 6lb though! I too keep thinking this one will make an early appearance, so being on the big side could be a good thing.

ejt - I'm going to a wedding tmrw and sounds like I'm wearing exactly your outfit!

hope everyone else is ok - catch up later.

ejt1764 · 24/08/2007 12:39

Hi all ... have made muffins and banana loaf ...smells lovely, but the kitchen is a bit hot now!

lisa - next time you have to be monitored, insist that you are allowed to lie on your left side ...they should be making sure you are comfortable too ... and if you get too uncomfortable, I'm afraid you'er going to have to get stroppy and demand that the belts be adjusted so that you can shift position.

Also, ask if the have a telemetry system (a remote system) ... apparently most units have them but don't tend to use them, as the usual thing is most convenient for them ... that way you'll be able to move around.

Hope you have a good afternoon! I'm going to sit with my feet in the paddling pool I think!

muppetgirl · 24/08/2007 12:43

Lisa -I did wonder if all was well as we'd not heard back from you re your scan. I can't believe the way 'we' are instantly forgoten and the baby is put first above all. I would have thought that a c/s was the best thing given you've had one, you're in agony and lo will need monitoring in labour and that will put you in the worst position for giving birth re the spd and you can't have an epidural (I've got that right haven't I?) This is adding to the stress that giving birth naturally gives us anyway I just don't get it???
I know of someone who made so much noise giving birth that the mv's asked her if she wanted a c/s just to shut her up (so her husband says...) as she was scaring the other ladies.

J20 - Am liking your dress, I have a christening next sat and have decided to wear a pair of line trousers (£8 next outlet -bargin!!!) with a white linen top. Toyed with the idea of a dress as my legs seem lovely and slim comapred to the rest of me but decided against it.

Emj - Hi! It's never to late to join! I had a big baby 1st time and have been measuring big for this one too. I have growth scans at 32, 36 +38 weeks to see what's going on. Thye have muted that I would been induced earlier or on my due date (I was 11 days late with ds1) I don't mind this as were induced with ds1 and as long as the epidural goes in at the same time I'll be fine. IT is a worry (ask the other girlies how much I worried!!) but if you are measuring big, make sure you ask them what this means and what they think will happen.

ejt - A comfy bed is definately a luxury worth having, enjoy....

Polarmummy - good news on the scan!

We have the lovely cleaning lady here atm. Dh is home working so Ollie and I went to the gym but had to come home early as I was feeling dizzy. Having spent 1/2 hour on the loo again (bloody iron tablets -the'd better be working!!!) I do feel a bit better though still quite lightheaded. We are off to b/f's parents this afternoon in Gloucester and we have to go down the M5 -j11a (past 12) what with the 'shooting' it's still shut so we are going to find another way. Here's to the magical mystery tour
We are staying tonght/tomorrow too and then have dh's b/f + wife down to stay on sun/ sun night so will be quite busy.
Am measuring 43" round the largest part of bump at 29 + 6 so the inch per week I seem to be growing better slow down or I won't be able to stand up soon!!! Though I have to say I haven't bulged anywhere else so I know I'm very lucky -My friend had a girl last time and was ENORMOUS and never really lost it and now she's expecting again she's still enormous...
Sunny day - with you Mrs Fish on the sit in the garden and eat ice lollies!!
Speak later x

alicet · 24/08/2007 15:13

Hello ladies! Well I have just got home early ? Fridays are normally quiet anyway at work but with 2 consultants on holiday it is even worse! Other docs on the team are on call so need to stay anyway so I get to skive which is fab! Going to go and catch up on some much needed sleep after I?ve caught up here?

J20 ? I have that dress ? it looks fab! Sure you will look gorgeous ? enjoy your birthday!

Chochobnob ? hope your injection goes OK and isn?t too painful. Presume you?re booked at the RVI too ? I can happily big it up too. Although things were far from straightforward for us (planned water birth to emergency c-section ? ummm?.) the staff were fantastic and kept us fully informed as to what was going on and involved in the decision making. You will be very well looked after.
Enjoy your shopping this weekend too! Understand your anxiety but worth getting some stuff before lo arrives. I think a couple of threads ago we were talking about what things we would advise first time mums to buy ? you might find this helpful if you scroll back for it? There are a couple of very long posts so should be fairly easy to spot! Or any of us will be happy to advise if you so desire!

Lisa ? hope you?re feeling OK ? sounds like quite a traumatic day for you hon! Try taking some painkillers before you go for your next trace honey to see if that holds the pain off for a bit longer? Fingers crossed todays trace is better and that she can stay put for a little longer?. Our labour ward actually has a form of mobile monitoring which is cordless and linked to a unit on their desk so you can wear it and mobilise. I only got told about it when I attended a vbac session while I was still trying to decide if that was what I wanted or not. Apparently it lives in a cupboard and is hardly ever used so noone knows about it ? might be worth you asking if your unit has one as it would make a massive amount of difference to you I?m sure?Just read ejt?s post about this too ? the telemetry system that she mentioned is the same one I was just waffling on about! Thinking of you both x

Hello Polar ? long time no see! Glad lo is ?thriving?!!!

Ejt ? you sound like you?re having a lovely relaxing time (apart from the antisocial time of your bed delivery!!!). Can you send me some blueberry muffins and banana loaf please pretty please!!!?

Emj ? try not to worry about your measurements. If you read back through this thread there have been so many times when people have measured too big / too small / etc and its all turned out to be fine. The main thing is they are checking on you but as long as your lo is moving they are doing OK just now? Fingers crossed all goes well

Muppet ? enjoy your weekend and hope you find a good detour!

Frantic waving to everyone else! I?m off now for a kip? Yet again a quick catch up has turned into a mammoth post. Think I?m probably just a gob-shite!
