LES try not to worry about your beloved baby going outside at lisa's. I had friends who had house cats who never went out for several years (they lived ion a top floor flat) then they started going out when they moved into a house. And although it took a while they now love it!

Lisa - don't know if you've heard of it but have you ever tried feliway with your cats? Its a plug in thing that releases cat pheromones to calm cats down and doesn't smell to humans. I was a bit sceptical but we used it when we moved house and they hardly turned a hair. Might be useful for both your cats and LES's as they get used to each other... You can buy it online in loads of places - will try and find the website I used if you like?

alicet · 29/08/2007 19:41

Lisa! Your consultant sounds like a twat. Ask you midwife to be referred elsewhere for a second opinion if you really want a section. Its hardly an unreasonable request given that you had one before. Can't believe he's not giving you the option - I have no reason to suspect the same will happen for me again yet I was offered the choice. Your mw will probably know who is more pro-section at your hospital. Don't worry about being seen as difficult. You are well within your rights to ask for a second opinion.

He may well have very good reasons for being concerned about you having a section but if thats the case he should explain these to you clearly which he is not doing. Makes me cross and giving docs a bad name!

ChocolateHobnob · 29/08/2007 19:48

Hi all

Inzi, glad your gran doesn't have to go into hospital. Good news! Let's hope she can build herself up.

Hi Collywobbles and welcome! It's my first too (due 31 Oct).

LES, sorry you have to lose Alfie; brilliant that Lisa can have him though!

Lisa - how are you today?

EJT - whinge away! YOu should - it works.

Mrs Fish - how is DS?

Apricott - I'd quite like a water birth if poss. Saw the pool rooms this w/e in the hospital - looks okay - I guess I have to wait and see what happens.

Everyone else - hello! Can't get through the whole list...

I saw the mw today. Baby still measuring bang on my chart, and it ISN'T posterior, at the moment, anyway, it's in a good position apparently. She said the head was v low already and wrote 3/5 on my notes. Does that mean anything?

Tomorrow, yes, I'm meeting Alicet! and her DS. I'm looking forward to it. Sad that I have a day of work to do first.

Have a good evening everyone and hope heartburn, insomnia, etc aren't too bad!

lisad123 · 29/08/2007 19:51

alicet, he is the top consultant, everyone else is under him at my hospital
I guess i also worry that because of my injecting blood thinners, if i havent had 12 hours clear of them I cant have spinal, so no choice of epidural and if i do end up needing a C section I would have to have a general, which would be my worse nightmare. If it was planned I could stop the drugs beforehand so no chance of bleeding out.

Im going to call my midwife and ask her to come and see me next week, when Im a little less hormonal.

I have heard of that stuff for cats before, I think i can get it from the same place i buy my worming and flea stuff from. My cats are pretty calm mostly, and we often have other cats sitting in outr garden and they dont fuss.
thanks

lisa

Hi all.

ejt- Yes is it Good Hope that I am giving birth at. It is still affectionately know as "No Hope".

Alice - no idea why they insist, but I can now write on my notes that I have attended and hope that the pool (only 1 there) will be free when I go into labour.

The evening consisted of watching a video of 2 wather births (same lady each time) and then a question and answer section. We then went over to the delivery suite to have a look at the pool room.
Lisa - Sorry your consultant is being such and ar*e.

Hi to everyone else.

MrsFish · 29/08/2007 21:35

Good evening everyone.

Ds is much better today, thanks for everyones concern, he had lovely 3 and a half hour sleep this afternoon too, so I managed to get quite a bit done. This lo is kicking out at me at the moment, right side of my belly button, I am sat at the desk in the study so he keeps kicking into the desk which is very uncomfortable

DH is getting ready to go away, he leaves for 10 days tomorrow lunch, so I hope this lo stays put, I'm sure he will. I have mw appt tomorrow will see what she says regards bloods and iron levels. I have been good and eaten lots of green and blacks choc like she told me to

Les - Good news that your kitty cat can go to someone on here that you trust, I think it is fab

Lisa - sorry to hear things aren't going as you would like

I'm a bit that most of you live down south, not many of you up North

Winnie - Hope you can get to use your birthing pool, for some reason it just doesn't appeal to me.

I am getting scared about impending birth now, I wish there was a painless way of getting them out

Hello to everyone else I've not mentioned and I hope you all have a good nights sleep

j20baby · 29/08/2007 22:03

hello people

muppet-my 'consultant'(which is actually my consultants registrar hasn't seemed too worried about how low i am on iron up until now, i'm not sure if she meant i'd need a transfusion if i lost a lot of blood at the birth, or they'd just give me one anyway, she wants me above 10, they phoned at teatime and said just carry on with the b12 tablets, so maybe its improved a bit from the bloods i had earlier.
also as mrsfish says, i didn't think a transfusion was needed till it hit the 7 mark, but i suppose if a lot of blood is lost during birth then it could go down? i just don't know!

buffy-lovely to 'see' you again! heartburn is awful atm, don't know why as bubs is meant to have moved down, i haven't had it too bad up until the last couple of weeks, i pity those that have had it nearly all the way through.

ejt-i've realised that since i've stopped decorating, i don't get no where near as puffy as i did! still gettting fizzy hands though.

lisa{shock] at your consultant, what a tossor! can you ask for a second opinion? treating you like that must be unethical and just plain wrong, surely
on the plus side, great news about Alfie
LES-poor ds, can't he have visiting rights?

inzi-good news at dentist wonder if i am clenching my jaw in bed and that where my pain is coming from in my cheek bone.

choc-my lo is 3/5 too, no idea what it means though! i just know that 1/5 means the head is lower than 4/5 or should that be the other way round {bemused emoticom}

mrsfish-i think your further South than me! hope your ok with regards to dp going to be away for a while, look at it as some time for you to chill out
i'm steadily getting more terrified about giving birth, everytime i get a twinge, i panic, and remember how much its going to hurt

LES-Erm....contractions?????????

OP posts:
TheLadyEvenstar · 29/08/2007 22:12

J20 shhhhhh about contractions am ignoring pain at moment!!!!!!!!!!!!

j20baby · 29/08/2007 22:14

Chochobnob and J20 - 3/5 means mwcan feel 3/5 of the baby?s head outside the pelvis (so 2/5 is inside the pelvis and engaged)

Lisa ? can totally understand your reasons for wanting a section. If you are happy that your consultant is the best even though he has no people skills then that?s fair enough but if you are unhappy with what he is offering it may still be worth you seeking that second opinion. Unless you have your planned section you could never guarantee your consultant would be on duty when lo chose to make an appearance anyway. But obviously that?s up to you honey. Just hope it all works out?

MrsFish ? glad ds is better. At least that?s one less thing to worry about as I think your dh is going away soon isn?t he?

LES ? sorry you?re in pain but don?t think I want it thanks!!!

Well off now to play with ds ? he is being very happy with all his toys but has just heard his daddy get up so is desperate to get upstairs! Will be back on later this evening after fil leaves? Hope you all have a lovely day and see you later Chochobnob!

alicet · 30/08/2007 07:55

Lisa meant to say also that asking for second opinion doesn't mean you have to then take that if you are not happy with what they say / don't have confidence in them....

Will stop going on about it now honey as you have enough on your mind already but just wanted you to know you have options.

MrsFish · 30/08/2007 08:01

Morning all

alicet - yeah, DH is off this afternoon, back on the 9th of Sept, I must say, not having to cook dinner, watching what I want on TV, uninterupted acces to the laptop and a whole bed to myself is very appealing

LES - whats going on, everything ok??????

muppetgirl · 30/08/2007 08:40

Morning all
Have just read posts and have texted les so if she replies I'll let you know...x

I had burning ears last night and couldn't work out why

Did anyone else watch supernanny? I did and I found it very distressing, I know I'm pregt but that poor woman...
I actually went off and cleaned the oven we are geting new one and b/f's grandma (82) is having it as it's still quite new -just a single oven, not good with a family - and it is absolutely disgusting so I bought the thing in the box that you put the trays in a bag and leave overnight and, OMG it really does look like new £3.96 from Sainsbury's and worth every penny.

Well, grey here today so will probably take Oliver for a bike ride, I am definately NOT going to ride my bike after last time!! I could use an adult sized scooter to keep up with Ollie as he is getting quite fast now.
Also am going to re-do his train set. I bought loads of wooden track off ebay and stuck it down on 3 large sheets of MDF and then did a scene around it so he had grass, a lake, helicopter pad etc and all I had to do was put the conecting track on to lock it all together. We stored it under our bed and it was great. He's a little big for it now so I'm going to take off the track, rub it down and then paint a racing car track for him as he is obsessed with his cars. Have been promising him it for a while so today could be the day I start!

This afternoon is lasagne afternoon. I'll make it for tea but then do my freezer thing as I'm determined to get things sorted. I've got no kitchen for a week starting the 17th as it's being fitted so I'll need ready meals for then and also for when lo arrives.
Brother and his g/f are coming for a week at the end of sept so I hope the kitchen is done by then!!

Speak later x

lisad123 · 30/08/2007 08:51

Morning all

Hope LEs is ok, let us know.
Thank alicet, im going to speak to my mw next week and see if she can help at all. May ask for second opinion but am so worn out right now, i cant think about it.

Im off to coffee with 2 friends today. One had her bumpy 7 weeks ago, the other was due a week after me and miscarried at 12 weeks, so have to make sure i dont put my foot in it .
Im then off to the park with Tanisha to meet a felow SPD sufferer, we will look a pair . Hoping the weather picks up a little though.
Im so excited I get to give Alfie a new home, hope its not too hard for LES

Hugs to all that need them, and LES if your reading this, you really should do as your told especially by the GP!!
