Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Congrats on the new babies this week everyone! I'm still no signs or twinges... Just a lot of pressure down there.

I have the option of a sweep at my next midwife appt when I will be 40 +1... I've read sooo many different things about them, anyone care to share their experiences? If you went into labour how soon after? Is it really uncomfortable/painful? I was always of the mind set that I would just leave baby to it and not intervene with sweeps or anything unless medically necessary, but I also don't know if in another 10 days of being pregnant I'll be willing to try it!

Moraxella · 19/09/2019 12:26

I had one on 40+1 no joy, 40+4 another one at 9am, contractions started 11pm. First one was gentle, second was a bit tougher but def worked. Took about two mins. Wasn’t painful, was a bit uncomfy but was more uncomfy being so pregnant!

DustyDoorframes · 19/09/2019 12:41

Woot @Moraxella !!! Brilliant news, congratulations!!

Re sweeps- I've had loads, and went into labour the night after a rather fierce one with DC2. With DC1 I had a super easy induction which may or may not have anything to do with the sweeps.

IVEgottheDECAF · 19/09/2019 13:08

Sweeps. Dc4 i had one and gave birth next day. Dc5 had one and gave birth 2 days later. I would do it if it was me

Senners · 19/09/2019 13:15

Thanks guys re sweeps, will deffo consider it!

Puglover88 · 19/09/2019 14:25

@Moraxella congratulations!! Hope you’re both doing well! Xx

DustyDoorframes · 19/09/2019 16:35

Just left work for the last time pre baby, eeep. Feels very weird (it's right at our very busiest time so I am definitely dropping everyone in it...).
Sweep tomorrow. Eep!

IVEgottheDECAF · 19/09/2019 18:17

One step closer to baby dusty!

SJP3 · 19/09/2019 20:46

Can't believe you were still at work dusty! You've done amazingly well to get this far. Hats off!

DustyDoorframes · 19/09/2019 21:09

Only one day this week though SJP , hardly counts! And I'm trailing the pack at a mere 38+3...

BBell2 · 19/09/2019 21:22

@Senners I had a sweep today, apart from adding to backache and a bit of plug I'm not sure it's done much. BUT it wasnt painfull, just uncomfy and actually I find a smear with speculum worse.

OH busted me on the way by saying "dont know what your worried about going into get felt up by the dishy consultant"...which nearly made me wet my knickers, the consultant is pretty much my type, OH obviously noticed.
Then we get in there and it's a different one who I swear is 19. He cant be the senior registrar really, I feel so old!

Senners · 19/09/2019 21:52

@BBell2 ooo do let us know if anything happens overnight or tomorrow!

@dustydoorframes I'm 38 + 3 too! I keep flirting between I want to meet my baby now and my baby will come when it's ready (and these may be my last few days of regular sleep for a long time...)

IVEgottheDECAF · 19/09/2019 21:52

Fingers crossed bbell! Took me a while to get going after my sweep with dc5

DustyDoorframes · 19/09/2019 22:22

Are we really going to get through 19/9/19 without ANYONE claiming such a brilliant birthday?? @BBell2 , looks like you are out main hope with 90 minutes to go... hmm...

IVEgottheDECAF · 19/09/2019 23:59

Maybe someone who hasnt posted today will have had baby!

pinkpig381 · 20/09/2019 06:35

Still no baby here! Yesterday consisted of lots of walking as well as some of those new spicy KFC bite things that DH was getting me to eat - felt like my lips were burning off!! I might admit defeat and just wait until induction on Monday now Sad
Congratulations @Moraxella 👏🏻
Stay strong everyone we'll get there eventually!!

Moraxella · 20/09/2019 09:15

Thanks all! I had a 19/9/19er!

SJP3 · 20/09/2019 09:48

Congratulations @Moraxella! What an awesome birthday for your little one! Hope you're both doing well.

SJP3 · 20/09/2019 09:50

Due date is today. Just had a bit of a crying meltdown in front of DH... I could only find the word "WHEN?" much to his amusement. I can see the funny side but wow, I am so very done with pregnancy.

Fortheloveofscience · 20/09/2019 10:28

So jealous @Moraxella, yesterday was my EDD and I’d have loved 19/9/19!

@SJP3 totally with you, I had a similar day yesterday, interspersed with “OMG what have we done I’m not ready for my life to change”. Just about held it together with the prospect of today’s sweep, but if that shows I’m still nowhere close then DH is going to have to put up with an emotional wreck all weekend!

IVEgottheDECAF · 20/09/2019 10:52

Really feel for those of you still waiting especially those reaching / passing EDD! It is hard! It shouldn't be, you know your gonna have your baby eventually. But when your so tired, and uncomfortable and every man and his dog keep asking "baby yet?" every second feels like a bloody eternity FlowersCake

Congratulations challenge! Flowers sounds like another good experience! What did Pommeline weigh?

challengeyourreality · 20/09/2019 11:59

Thank you @decaf
She weighed 3.9kg - which seems to be 8lbs 9oz using the online convertor.

challengeyourreality · 20/09/2019 12:03

Congratulations to you too @Moraxella Flowers
Great date of birth to share
