@tobeornottobe1 yes does sound similar. I'm already knackered from 19 hours of minor contractions and backache. I can see my preffered birth waving goodbye.

kyles101 · 02/09/2019 20:48

Ha ha @IVEgottheDECAF I'll soon be back to egg meets sperm.

Ah, @Megan2018 if they've said that to you I'm sure that'll be what you get. We're still a few decades behind the times here I think. They are all lovely though.

Although 1 hour 20 minutes they left me hooked up to that wired monitor- it's like torture- there will be no way I can labour like that 😞 just sent dh home to go and see the dog, plus there's no point in us both being tired. Had a little cry though. Hopefully a good nights sleep will make me feel better... 🤞

DustyDoorframes · 02/09/2019 20:49

Urgh @kyles101 so slow. And I don't get why they plan to do stuff in the middle of the night (although both mine were born about 1am so maybe it's actually a good time for bodies???). Errr enjoy your pudding in the meantime...

@Lavellan hope you're ok! Are you still home?

Hah @IVEgottheDECAF if it is your waters will you be off for an induction like a shot???

DustyDoorframes · 02/09/2019 20:50

Ouf crossposted @kyles101 . Do they not have a wireless monitor??? If you need to move you need to move.

IVEgottheDECAF · 02/09/2019 20:52

dusty i'm not really sure what to do tbh, i would like to go to sleep ..... i dont want to phone incase they ask me to go in as i would like sleep first Grin

Lavellan · 02/09/2019 20:54

@DustyDoorframes yeah still at home, think I'm going to give in and call triage tonight.

Lavellan · 02/09/2019 20:55

Haha decaf same I'm going to try and catch some rest before my 24 hours is done, I can't imagine I'll get much in hospital.

DustyDoorframes · 02/09/2019 20:57

Good plans decaf and lavellab. Sleep is good!

Stroan · 02/09/2019 20:58

@kyles101 sounds very similar to my induction. Boredem and an intense hatred of the monitor! I actually cried once when they came to strap it on, not helped by a ridiculously active baby who also seemed to hate it.

If it's any reassurance, things moved much faster once I was 4cms and they broke my waters. In between monitoring I was touring the hospital and climbing all the stairs! But definitely ask for wireless monitoring once your waters are broken.

We had a newborn and family photoshoot today, with the same photographer who did DDs. Just got a sneak peek (which could be outing on the off chance anyone follows this photographer on social media, but anyway...). I'm so impatient to get the rest.

Hmmm ive now had a couple of mild contraction like pains ..... do i go to bed or not .....

DustyDoorframes · 02/09/2019 21:46

Oh @Stroan what a gorgeous pic!!!
@IVEgottheDECAF YES go to bed. If the contracting keep you up so be it but don't stay up on the offchance!

tobeornottobe1 · 02/09/2019 22:35

@IVEgottheDECAF it sounds like your baby is coming !! Excited for you, your brave to wait around, 5th baby will fly out Wink

IVEgottheDECAF · 02/09/2019 22:43

Hmmm i had thought that but he has been playing with me the past couple of days so i am taking the risk and hitting the hay!

Horehound · 02/09/2019 23:36

Wow what a lovely photo, @stroan!

I've had a bad day. Baby is being unusually fussy and has puked after each feed even after sitting him up for long periods and burpings. I'm convinced it's because of the antibiotics I've been prescribed. It does say it transfers to breast milk. Don't know how I can manage a week of it :/ luckily i do have 3 bottled of expressed milk but that will only last tonight.

kyles101 · 03/09/2019 06:53

Oh @Stroan that's a lovely picture!! That little face 😍 if there's anything that could drive an induced woman to tears it'd be that bloody monitor...

Although I am strapped up to it again this morning... I was impatiently waiting for the dr to come round at 6am and decide whether they thought they could break my waters now or whether would need gel, when pop pop gush - yippee - cancel that dr!!! Soooo pleases something has happened on its own at lest. So just having some monitoring now then will be moved up to labour ward!!

Anything overnight @IVEgottheDECAF?

Dyra · 03/09/2019 07:19

Your baby is truly adorable @Stroan. Very cute picture.

Hooray for things moving along @kyles101!

Hope all is well @Lavellan.

While I hope it wasn't a midnight dash @IVEgottheDECAF, I hope that baby is well on the way for you now!

Oh poor you @Horehound. I wish I could do more than to just type out encouragement. You're being such a trooper, and you've been so strong, despite all the trials that have been thrown your way. Things will get better, and I that when you look back on this eventually, you will be proud of yourself. All the hugest virtual hugs for you.

IVEgottheDECAF · 03/09/2019 07:24

No news here i am afraid Sad

Lavellan · 03/09/2019 07:54

Early contractions all night, not a bit of sleep. Sadly lying on my side is the absolute worst position. I've vomited this morning as well. I give this 0/10

IVEgottheDECAF · 03/09/2019 08:00

Lavellan Flowers sorry your finding it so hard

Horehound · 03/09/2019 08:13

@Lavellan oh no, hopefully it picks up more this morning. Can you try walking about as much as poss? And bounce on your ball?

@dyra thanks for your kind words. Just having you guys at the other end is helping me! Let baby sleep on me all night otherwise neither of us would have had any sleep. He completely refused bottle though so had to persevere with breast. Feels like I don't have any milk now so might have to pump to get demand up!

Sorry youre not progressing @IVEgottheDECAF but won't be long before baby is here I'm sure.

IVEgottheDECAF · 03/09/2019 08:23

Horehound perhaps gp / mw can offer advice on how the antibiotics may be affecting baby?

My pad was dry overnight and this morning so i am now assuming my waters were not leaking. Lost yet more clear pluggy stuff this morning and had a couple of mild contractions.

DustyDoorframes · 03/09/2019 08:29

Woohoo @kyles101 re your waters! Hopefully you are motoring now and babe is well on their way!
Urgh @Lavellan hopefully the vomming is a good sign that your body is gearing up. Grimmness though.
Oh no @IVEgottheDECAF ! I was sure there would be a baby Decaf this morning! Are you going to go in to see about your waters?
@Horehound both mine were happy chuckers and brought up milk a lot, so it's not necessarily a problem, unless it's causing distress. (Well, maybe a laundry problem, but not a baby problem) And after the first bit of feeling very full of milk you won't necessarily notice being "full" unless it's been ages since you last breastfed. You produce it on demand! If he's been latched on half the night then he's building your supply far better than expressing would- and you wouldn't feel built up!

DustyDoorframes · 03/09/2019 08:30

Oh crossposted decaf. Pah re no waters!!!!!

DustyDoorframes · 03/09/2019 08:35

Oh and a PS for @Horehound - if you are worried about medication the breastfeeding network have a brilliant pharmacist called Wendy Jones who can advise, and has written a whole slew of help sheets on common (and less common) meds. Here is the sheet on antibiotics-

36+5 hospital on my own for doppler and liquids and have been asked if I've had water loss, babes still breech. Notes say single pool of water visibly reduced. Chances of me walking out of today and going back to work for my not planned at all, far too late in the game handover!?! Husbands been on a big fireground since 4.30am I only went to sleep when he left the house, so have had 2 hours max. Desperate to do the right thing but so bloody tired to process.
