The best "meal" I had was the 8 pieces of toast I got and sweet tea straight after the birth. Bliss

IVEgottheDECAF · 02/09/2019 13:48

If my hospital bought me 8 slices of wet toast i would cry

Dyra · 02/09/2019 14:12

This reminds me that I need to remind my husband to bring me marmite for after birth toast.

Horehound · 02/09/2019 14:20

When we got readmitted to hospital and experienced the food for the first time, the next day my husband went home cooked some lamb koftas, rice and peas, boxed it up, brought jelly, fruit pots, pork pies, cheese and crackers, butter and jam etc! It was hilarious but so sweet and we really went to town on it. For such a crappy situation that was a nice part of the ordeal :)

iano · 02/09/2019 15:16

I never got the sweet tea and toast ppl talk about.
It's ridiculous but I still feel hard done by. Blush
The food at my hospital was varied. There was a lovely salmon stir fry and the chilli wasn't too bad. Breakfast was shocking though! I stocked up on those oats you just add water too as I couldn't bear the toffee yoghurts, soggy toast and jam routine.
The women who come to take your order give you 10 seconds to decide what you want. It's ridiculous. Someone looking grumpily at you whilst you read a 3 page menu. I think I ate the same 3 things for two weeks just to make them go away.

kyles101 · 02/09/2019 15:20

Congratulations @tobeornottobe1 !! First official September baby!!

To be fair, they've jut realised they should be doing my sugars today 🙄 and my readings have been low 3.2 and 3.something else post meals - so they've been stuffing me with glucose tablets - yuck!! So I'm gonna wolf down their carby sugary meals with relish. But deffo not ideal, for lunch (Before I realised I now had low issues!) I had some grated cheese and a small salad. @BridgetJonesDaiquiri Yours is positively Michelin started by comparison!!

Having mild contractions again, maybe only 2 in 10 again still. Definitely looking like it'll be tomorrow morning until anything else promising happens 😩

So yes, bring snacks, and weirdly warm clothes - it's pretty cold in here - not that I'm complaining at all! And if being induced, plenty to do.

DustyDoorframes · 02/09/2019 15:44

@kyles101 Ouf, dullness! Also - you must be in the only chilly hospital in Britain!!! Are you/they worried about the low sugars? It sounds v odd given the diet.
Now, you pootling along does give @IVEgottheDECAF a fighting chance to catch you up...
I have taken firm note of the snack situ.

@Dyra how are you doing today? Does it look like you can hold out til Wednesday??

IVEgottheDECAF · 02/09/2019 15:56

Mw said no to the sweep and i am now booked for a growth scan on my due date which i dont see much point in tbh ....

BBell2 · 02/09/2019 16:09

@tobeornottobe1 congratulations on the birth of you little girl!

8 working days left and scans on at least two of those, but baby turning on the only day I had for DD1 and I together.

I had my niece & nephew today, find it hard to know what to do with the age range 3, 6 & 11. We managed though and I'd been dreading it. My niece was chatting to me when I realised I must have had piles and one has burst...no pain but jeeezzz a lot of bright blood. Have felt a bit rubbish all day. Actually, OH and I had sex for the first time in ages yesterday and it didnt feel great. So much horrible pressure down there. It triggered BH and possibly the burst pile! Well worth it Hmm

Puglover88 · 02/09/2019 17:01

@tobeornottobe1 congratulations!! First September baby!

@IVEgottheDECAF how can they say no to sweep when you’re so close to your due date? I thought sweeps were pretty much routine if you wanted one!

Anyone still having sex I salute you! I’m one big Braxton hick at the moment and there’s no way it’s happening!!

IVEgottheDECAF · 02/09/2019 17:06

Pug apparently not. Mw said they should be happy to do one on my due date at the growth scan .... i sincerely hope i am not still pregnant by then!

Did some brisk walking before, bit sore now but thats about it

Megan2018 · 02/09/2019 17:09

Congratulations @tobeornottobe1 lovely to see a September baby! Its felt like this was turning into an August thread!

38+4 here, 10 days until induction and still feel 100% fine, lets see what the MW thinks tomorrow.

Lavellan · 02/09/2019 17:38

Just been to my midwife since things haven't moved along. Definitely leaking fluid, baby is partially back to back, cervix is barely thinned or open. I have to decide if I want to go in for induction or not. This sucks, I thought I'd get a little more help to decide than "it's up to you".

IVEgottheDECAF · 02/09/2019 17:52

I would try and get baby to turn first!

DustyDoorframes · 02/09/2019 18:08

That's really annoying @Lavellan!!!
Check out the spinning babies website for the turning part.
I guess you are balancing the risk of infection (which is generally pretty low) with the risks of induction (also pretty low, but can be the start of the cascade of interventions). But some help weighing them up would have been nice!!

DustyDoorframes · 02/09/2019 18:09

Also- pah to no sweep Decaf!

Hsunshine · 02/09/2019 18:15

Is c section an option offered? I would probs go for that but that’s just because I don’t fancy pushing out a baby especially possibly back to back
Worth reading online NHS leaflet on induction as they’ll have to try soften your cervix first

sugarsprinklesrainbowdrops · 02/09/2019 18:15

Congratulations @tobeornottobe1 First September baby!

Oh @IVEgottheDECAF So many false starts! Hope something happens soon!! You must be so fed up Thanks

@Lavellan hope you're doing ok- must be very hard to know what to do! Good luck with the decision making.

@boodles101 finally read through the threads I missed! Your twins are beautiful! And great choice of names- my DD(2) is Erin & still love her name.

A week today until c section (under GA)...maybe...as I'm double/triple booked on the list. I've begun to really freak out & keep having moments of panicking in the middle of the night. I had one with DD but I'm really dreading it this time around. I wouldn't mind so much if I could have a spinal! I'm kind of hoping something happens before the planned section so it takes me by surprise & I haven't got time to worry about it.

kyles101 · 02/09/2019 19:19

Not gonna lie, when they said cheese and biscuits for pudding this isn’t what I had in mind... 😂😂😂

In other news, practically no progress on cervix, 1cm dilated still 😩 pessary back in until midnight, then either gel or water breakage, if I've dilated enough by then.

IVEgottheDECAF · 02/09/2019 19:38

Reckon i would be more than 1cm! If only someone would have a look!

Megan2018 · 02/09/2019 19:45

I’m surprised they are letting this drag out @kyles101 - they told me that induction for GD needs to be done quickly otherwise no point. I’ve only agreed on the basis it’ll be quick!!
If they mess around like that with me I think I’d discharge myself and go home-what a waste of time!

tobeornottobe1 · 02/09/2019 19:58

@Lavellan your scenario is starting to sound like mine! I can tell you induction and back to back was the worst pain I've ever experienced. Just to give u a heads up Shock

kyles101 · 02/09/2019 20:04

@IVEgottheDECAF apparently I was 2cm 24 hours ago - I've regressed 🤷‍♀️

@Megan2018 do they start you on the drip straight away your end? 30 hours with the propress (is that what it's called?) here first, sigh. I would dearly have loved to go home.

The monitoring is doing my head in now too. It's been over an hour. I want to move and wee. Getting fed up.

Megan2018 · 02/09/2019 20:15

@kyles101 no they said they use balloon catheter to open cervix then break waters. Then if no progress after that they use drip.
But not sure if I trust them now-if I get there and its the pessaries I’ll be livid!

IVEgottheDECAF · 02/09/2019 20:16

Hopefully regressing doesnt continue kyles!

Im not sure if my waters might be leaking....it feels like stuff is coming out every now and then but my clothes arent really getting damp or anything. Popped a pad in just incase
