@Lavellan and @IVEgottheDECAF hopefully we’ll have two more babies pretty soon! 😃

kyles101 · 02/09/2019 07:59

I do love our nhs but really - breakfast options are cereals - the sugary kind - fruit, toast and jam, and low fat fruit yogurt! They'll wonder why I get a high reading in an hour 🙄

IVEgottheDECAF · 02/09/2019 08:01

You would think theyd be a GD friendly option? Especially given its quite common!

tobeornottobe1 · 02/09/2019 09:08

Good morning all, just a quick
Update baby girl arrived early hours yesterday 01.09.2019. Is she the first September baby?
@IVEgottheDECAF my labour was long slow and hard due to baby being back to back, you mentioned back ache and that was the same for me. With the one off cramps for days on end! Waters broke and no contractions so ended up being induced,,,& everybody said 3rd babies will fly out!! All worth it in the end thoughHalo

IVEgottheDECAF · 02/09/2019 09:12

Congrats tobe! Yes i think that is first Sept baby!

My fourth was back to back so i have some experience there. Todays back pain is NOTHING in comparison to that experience Shock pretty sure this baby is not b2b as i can feel his bum and my belly button is out! My goal through the whole pregnancy has been "please god not another back to back baby!"

Dyra · 02/09/2019 09:29

Congratulations @tobeornottobe1! 🥳

Stroan · 02/09/2019 09:34

Congratulations @tobeornottobe1

@kyles101 it's awful! When I was in for steroids, the housekeeper was bringing me wholemeal toast and loads of cheese. She was so embarassed that there were no better options. I didn't know as much about GD during my induction with DD and I'm convinced the food contributed to her being quite poorly at birth. She must have been getting so much sugar.

Thank you xx
@Lavellan your baby will soon be here, btw did the hospital start you on anti biotics yet? My hospital were very quick to start mine, seems they have a low threshold here.
@kyles101 good luck x

tobeornottobe1 · 02/09/2019 09:39

Oh @IVEgottheDECAF my goodness! Back to back is something else, if I ever found myself in that position again, after the first twinge Ild be having an epidural!!

Horehound · 02/09/2019 09:39

@tobeornottobe1 congratulations!!! Enjoy this precious time xx

IVEgottheDECAF · 02/09/2019 09:42

Literally every time a mw has touched my bump i am like "he is still the right way isnt he? Not back to back?"

Horehound · 02/09/2019 09:44

@kyles101 honestly the food is a joke.
When the midwives came to our home and were on me 're. Feeding she told me I also need to eat and sleep, so does DH and these things are SO IMPORTANT.
Once we were readmitted to hospital the breakfast I woke up to was a tiny bowl of rice krispies and a brown roll with a butter portion and apricot jam portion. I had to split the roll with my husband as he got nothing! There was less than 300 cals on that..
The lunchtime..Oh I'll have the baked potato with cheese please. Here is what I got..

So they are going to go on about how important food and eating is then they dish out this shit. Im actually going write to them about it in the feedback form.

@horehound the food post-birth was good this time round, apart from the rogue sausage in my steak pie. But after three days of induction/labour with DD (zero sleep and hardly any food) I asked for porridge and toast for breakfast. I was informed I could have one or the other but not both. This time, I had a huge bag of calorific snacks.

You should all write to your hospitals about the food served if not up to standard to meet your dietary needs!

Cramping has tailed off. What a pile of crap.

Lavellan · 02/09/2019 10:00

@tobeornottobe1 no not been in to the hospital, called triage last night and they said I've got 24 hours to get things started, and then called my community midwife this morning- since I am supposed to have an appointment with her today anyway - and she said they can leave things up to 96 hours if I want and she could visit me tomorrow if so. Great to have cohesive service isn't it??

So basically I'm to stay put and hope things ramp up today. I don't feel like the intensity has increased yet, but still going, so fingers crossed.

IVEgottheDECAF · 02/09/2019 10:03

Im meant to be at the mw later

Contemplating begging for a sweep...

Hsunshine · 02/09/2019 11:05

Baby is officially overdue. Keep reminding baby anyway now will be good Smile

Hospital food sounds awful, I need to go snack shopping

Am I mad for thinking if I get a colour pack for my pram that I’ll actually change the colours on it?

BridgetJonesDaiquiri · 02/09/2019 11:06

Ha @Horehound that potato is so sad. Speaking of hospital food - this was my "dinner" on Wednesday night... I actually quite enjoyed it but was an odd choice (other choice was also breakfast related). I must say I found the food this time better than last time, my trust have slightly upped their game.

@Lavellan wow 90+ hours is a lot, I guess as long as your happy with baby movements etc and hopefully things progress for you soon x

Dyra · 02/09/2019 12:21

Oh wow. It's amazing how much the food can differ by trust. It's really quite good here (very much imo). But then I've not had to look into the low carb options.

boodles101 · 02/09/2019 13:04

Congrats tobeornottobe has she got a name yet?
Horehound that potato is shocking. The food at mine was pretty decent. The beans on my jacket potato were pretty awful though. I had chocolate sponge, ice cream etc.

DustyDoorframes · 02/09/2019 13:29

At mine it's much better if you ask for the "cultural" menu- nice curries!
Congrats @tobeornottobe1 !!!!

Horehound · 02/09/2019 13:31

Oh one meal I did get a stocky sponge and custard but I was amazed at how all good tasted of nothing! It was like they must've gone out their way to make taste so rubbish! I had lasagne after baby was born...that was ok I guess. But for being a hospital there's like zero healthy meals Confused

IVEgottheDECAF · 02/09/2019 13:32

Except for toast i havent eaten hospital food in nearly 12 years!

However as our hospital specialise in wet toast i imagine it is not up to much ....

tobeornottobe1 · 02/09/2019 13:41

Thank you, she is still currently baby no name, hopefully I'll make my mind up soon Grin
