Thanks everyone, I'm second on list so down about 10. Absolutely starving.

@IVEgottheDECAF hope things are starting for you, you're 39 weeks today too aren't you?

@RonaldWeasley glad all is ok.

IVEgottheDECAF · 30/08/2019 08:51

39+1! Dont forget the 1!

DustyDoorframes · 30/08/2019 09:07

Oooh @easterbuns1 that's just an hour away!! Very exciting!!

@Horehound that is definitely spilt milk to make a person cry!!!!! You poor thing! Exclusive pumping really is the toughest of all worlds, you are made of stern stuff, amazing lady! Are you getting much support? I know some people find different bottles help the baby switch back to boob, but that's not something I know much about.

@IVEgottheDECAF we will not forget that 1!!! My money is still on you beating @kyles101 to it. Probably won't beat Easter to it though...

Kyles I'm thirding/fourthing Get thee to the doc about that ear! In fact- ring your MW too, you really don't want an infection at the same time as an induction, and neither do they want to have to deal with that.

boodles101 · 30/08/2019 09:36

Good luck easterbuns and hope things are getting started for you decaf

Twins are back to birth weight plus gained, Alex is now 6lb 2 and Erin 4lb 15.5, she is so tiny compared to him!

Megan2018 · 30/08/2019 09:43

Ahh @boodles101 glad they are doing well! Be interesting to see if Erin is always smaller or catches up, twins are just fascinating!

I’m still stressing over the horse, this wound is taking an age to heal (although vet very happy with it), I’m worried we’ll still be in treatment when baby lands, god knows how I’ll manage that Sad
Tissue has filled in but now granulated. I’ve not posted the photo as people may be squeamish!

Horehound · 30/08/2019 09:50

Woo wishing you well @easterbuns1 how exciting!

@IVEgottheDECAF ohh when I lost my plug that kicked everything off so maybe that's it for you too!

I managed to pump a good amount for his next feed. We were so close to using formula but evaded it Smile then the little lamb stirred an hour early but I brought him to lay on me and I ended up getting an extra hour sleep! Hurray!

When I went to hospital I was to get support but I think it made everything worse. Now I am home I was expecting some midwife visits thinking they'd be checking how we are doing and weighing him since that was a reason we got admitted to hospital but I've not heard a peep from them. I'm just managing to coax him on myself but he doesn't stay long but I think I may have messed up the sequence and tried to get him on after I've pumped. Everything Is a blur so I need to really focus on it now.
He has a touch of conjunctivitis in his left eye. I noticed in hospital and the midwives said to just use water and cotton wool. Maybe some breast milk on it too. But seems to be getting worse so I think I will be calling midwives today to come out and see that, weigh him and check my stitches too.

I don't think I told my story of birth yet. They ran out of gas and air at my homebirth...I can tell you, that was not fun!!

kyles101 · 30/08/2019 10:09

Ha ha, you're going to win @IVEgottheDECAF !! All you needed was a bit of healthy competition 😉

Or not so healthy 😳 phoned drs, no appointments today but rather sensibly she's taken a note of everything and will ask the dr at lunchtime if he'd be happy to write a prescription without seeing me so I can get them today. That seems sensible. It had been niggling a while but I stupidly just hoped it'd just get better on its own. Argh.

Oh my god, that weird spine spasm thing is back, had a couple last night and a few this morning, so painful.

Hope they're running on time @easterbuns1 and you're on your way down!!

@Horehound you're a tough cookie back on that pump!!

Horehound · 30/08/2019 10:15

@kyles101 oh that would be so good if they can just prescribe you something. Fingers crossed you get it!

IVEgottheDECAF · 30/08/2019 10:18

OMG horehound that is my worst nightmare (the gas and air) during one of my births (dc2?) I managed to pull the mouth piece off the gas and air. I freaked out! Big time!

DustyDoorframes · 30/08/2019 10:29

Yay @boodles101 re those growing twins! I make big babies so I can't imagine how tiny Erin must look, especially next to her bouncing brother!
@Horehound definitely give those midwives a call! The conjunctivitis needs looking at (Breast milk is indeed brilliant for it! But in a tiny baby you want it keeping an eye on) The health visitor could potentially be useful too (although they are VERY variable on breastfeeding). You might be better turning to specialist support- does your areas have breastfeeding cafes? My hospital runs them in local libraries, with a lactation consultant, a MW and several well trained volunteer peer supporters there to help troubleshoot. If not, ringing the NCT or La Leche Leaugue might point you to some local support? Your story is such a good example of how lip service is paid to BF- you couldn't be more determined, but where is your support???
@kyles101 Glad the surgery have been sensible! You really don't want to get into having a temperature in labour!
@Megan2018 your poor horse! Hopefully as the vet is pleased healing will get quicker? Can you have someone on standby to step in when you pop, just in case? It's one more thing, isn't it!

IVEgottheDECAF · 30/08/2019 11:21

My smallest baby was 7lb9 dusty i dont think i would know what to do with a tiny one! Expecting this one to be between 8lb12 and 9lb (by my own guessing)

Puglover88 · 30/08/2019 11:38

@easterbuns1 good luck for today and @IVEgottheDECAF sounds like you won’t be far behind! 😃

@kyles101 I feel for you, ear infections suck, hopefully they can give you something for it.

@Horehound that’s such a shame about the spilt milk (this is conclusive proof that spiders are evil!) but good on you for persevering! And yay to getting some more sleep this morning!

@RonaldWeasley glad all is ok with baby - have you been in much with reduced movement?

@boodles101 that’s great that they’re both back to their birth weight! Erin must look so diddy! Is she latching on yet?

IVEgottheDECAF · 30/08/2019 11:50

Meh. Nothing is feeling like its happening today. Boring.

RonaldWeasley · 30/08/2019 11:55

@Puglover88 only twice actually which I'm surprised about as I'm really paranoid about it, but generally he's a wriggler so I've been alright. The first time I was only 25 weeks so it was too early to use the monitors, and yesterday I just felt like the movements were less frequent and quite sluggish but of course he perked up almost as soon as that monitor went on him! How have you been feeling re movement etc? It's so hard not to catastrophise everything after a loss isn't it but it's also great to know that they would always rather us go in than sit at home and worry. I will be so glad to have that baby in my arms (and immediately start the next round of worries) 😂

IVEgottheDECAF · 30/08/2019 12:03

My first baby starts high school next week! All that independence and new shit to navigate! 🤯😬

BimbleBamble · 30/08/2019 12:09

So for those yet to birth our little bundles, how's everyone doing with names? I'm really struggling between 2 favourites, just seems like a lot of pressure and I'm rubbish at making these decisions!!!

I'm scared our top runner could suddenly become super popular in a few months or people will think we chose it because of this thing and not because we liked the name anyway for ages before(super cryptic and confusing Grin)
And those who have already named small people, how did you decided/cope with the pressure!

IVEgottheDECAF · 30/08/2019 12:14

Tbh. I have settled / given in on all our dcs names. Dp and i have very different taste. We have had to find middle ground. None of their names were my first choice. But now i adore them because they are their names!

We have a name. I'm not sharing though as its a bit different and outing!

IVEgottheDECAF · 30/08/2019 12:15

I will share my fave girls name though as we are having a boy! If this baby had been a girl i had my heart set on Etta!

Megan2018 · 30/08/2019 12:20

Is it weird that I really don’t care what her name is going to be? I feel like I should be more in to it, but I’m not that fussed.
There’s a name DH loves which I like, so we’ll probably just go with that.

I feel like a parenting fail already for not being bothered Blush

Megan2018 · 30/08/2019 12:21

Mind you, I was the same about wedding dresses! I liked my dress a lot but gave it very little effort, chose it on my own in about 20 mins.
I really suck at being a girl Grin

IVEgottheDECAF · 30/08/2019 12:23

Megan i actually hated one of our dcs names for most of my pregnancy! I let dp pick it and now i love it! Strange behaviour.

challengeyourreality · 30/08/2019 12:34

@BimbleBamble I find names really difficult too but have picked one now - had my name list going in my drafts folder before ttc!

I couldn't pick for DC1 so let DH choose. She has the top 1 name for that year but I do think it's a beautiful name and matches our surname perfectly.

DC2 I went between 3 names most of the pregnancy but had a definite preference for the name we chose in the end. Boys I find easier.

This time I knew I wanted a long, classic name. I can easily find unusual names as we are half Dutch but the trick is which don't sound weird in English. So we picked a French/Flemish name this time that is just so pretty.

I would not worry about if the name will be popular or not. If you love it, you love it

BimbleBamble · 30/08/2019 12:35

@decaf that's a great name! Found boys much easier than girls...which is great when I'm having a girl! Hope that when I meet her I'll just know and she'll look like one or the other name we've picked!

challengeyourreality · 30/08/2019 12:40

@BimbleBamble what name would you be happy calling upstairs to come down for dinner? Or on the playground. That was a good one for me when picking.

IVEgottheDECAF · 30/08/2019 12:46

The official statistics for names for last year are now online if anyone fancies a look! Our chosen name was used less than 300 times last year which sounds a lot but the number 1 name was used over 5000!
