Just realised I’ll be 14 weeks Tuesday, then I have my gender scan the weekend after that 😁

ronniemipperton · 08/08/2019 18:40

Thanks for the update from your consultant @Ginny1234. I’ve been having some sharp shooting pains today and was wondering whether to worry. They’ve gone now so fingers crossed it’s nothing to worry about.

Ginny1234 · 08/08/2019 18:42

@ronniemipperton apparently the sharp ones are ligament stretches whereas the more achy crampy ones are muscles stretching. Who knew!

S082018 · 08/08/2019 19:46

@Dweebette happy you now have a clean kitchen 😁

@InOmniaParatus13 great to hear you have your scan date through. Excited for you!!

How is everybody else feeling size-wise? I'm only 13+2 and today had to buy a few pairs of maternity jeans! Bought them from H&M and they are soooo comfy. Definitely going to be living in them until it's jumper and leggings season!

Dweebette · 08/08/2019 19:51

I'm only 11+2 and none of my jeans fit and I'm down to one pair of bigger sized work trousers! I feel like it's too early to buy maternity though and also have no idea how maternity sizing works... My plan is to borrow a couple of pairs of trousers from my sister, they're a size bigger than normal so hoping that'll do me a few weeks at least (they were mine before I lost a lot of weight). Also wearing more dresses though finding tights uncomfortable

LunaLovesgood · 08/08/2019 20:16

Hi all. Hope you don't mind a new face joining you? We had our dating scan yesterday and found out that I'm due 13th Feb... literally less than a week before DDs birthday Shock to be honest I knew it would be close but now I'm stressing myself out big time. She'll be 4 and I'm already worried about how she'll take to a new baby and if it comes on/near her birthday I don't know how she'll deal at all. I've had the most horrendous morning sickness and my hips and back are already hurting. I think I'm just an emotional wreck Confused

happylass · 08/08/2019 20:27

Evening all. Had my scan today and all was well (although still have to wait for the results of the screening). Sonographer asked if I could have my dates wrong (I had IVF so no) as baby looked way bigger than 12+6. She then went on to date me as 13+2 🙄. So due 11th or 14th Feb depending on who you believe. Had to be scanned 3 times as baby wasn’t in the correct position to get the measurements. Bladder was the size of a beach ball by the time they finished. They did say I could half empty it but I didn’t trust myself to be able to stop Blush
Clothes generally ok here at the moment but definitely much tighter by the end of the day!
@Dweebette you could try the hair elastic around your trouser button trick for this awkward in between stage. You can also buy a band that goes over the top of your trousers to hide the gap. I think JoJo used to sell I’m sure I’ve got one somewhere from last time.
@S082018 I got all my maternity jeans from H & M last time. I’m hoping they still fit!
@Ginny1234 another geriatric here. Due date is my 42nd birthday!

Dweebette · 08/08/2019 20:31

@happylass glad you had a good scan. I tried the hair band but it didn't help as the zip was still too tight over my tummy. My stomach is very sensitive as I've had really bad nausea the whole way through, actually seems to be getting worse instead of better 😩 will have a look for a band though

TheSeaWitch · 08/08/2019 21:11

@lunalovesgood Hi! I'm new too.. I had my dating scan this morning and I'm due on 14th Feb! I also already have a little girl, she's not long turned 4, we told her today and she's so excited. And already bombarding me with questions!

Ginny1234 · 08/08/2019 21:35

@happylass glad to hear your doing well as a fellow older mum. I'll be 42 the month after my due date so we're neck and neck. I'm glad there's a few of us around, it makes me feel more normal 😊

Marleym28 · 09/08/2019 08:22

Hi all

I had to cave with trousers as I went into week 12. I couldn't bear the uncomfortableness anymore. (Even with a hair and)I got a couple of maternity jeggins from H&M and asos which are good and not too expensive. I also got some H&M leggings mat leggings which seemed ok but after wearing a couple of times (pre wash) have already started to go thin on the bum. I purposely got some slightly bigger so my butt didn't stretch them too.
I had heard they were the better ones over jojo etc but after trying I'm not sold.think may have to try those?
Unless anyone knows of any others that are thick

I like the Leggings are they are so much softer when your belly is stretching and a bit sore

@S082018 thank you I’m so excited 😁

I seem to get bigger as the day goes on, I don’t think it will be long until I’m in maternity clothes! I love new look maternity vests and I have the comfiest pair of maternity shorts from Dorothy perkins! I don’t really have a bump yet which makes me sad, I just look fat and like I’ve eaten too many pies 😂
For the past 6 days all I’ve had for lunch and dinner is soup, this baby absolutely loves it 😂 same again today 😂
Hope everyone is well x

lovesT · 09/08/2019 10:52

For those who have mentioned the shooting/stabbing kind of pains and the aching, I have had that too but mildly and don't lasting. I've also seen things about it online which all seems to be okay :)

We told our family this week, the day of our scan, and they are all so happy which has made me much less nervous and more excited :) telling a few more people over the next week or so and then we will probably slow down until work knows (I'm on school holidays so might have to wait a while to tell them).

I have bought the Jojo Maman Bebe leggings which I really like. There were £7 each in the sale and there were mixed reviews but I'm really happy with the thickness and quality (and have worn them quite a bit since getting them haha - too comfy!) that's all I have bought to far, but with being off work at the moment I can spend a lot of time in leggings and comfy tops (yay).

Feels more real now that family know and we can talk about it!

InOmniaParatus13 · 09/08/2019 13:37

Does anyone know the best place to get maternity tights? I’ve had to take my regular ones off as they are digging into my stomach so bad!
Also all socks seem to be digging into my legs / ankles!

S082018 · 09/08/2019 15:49

@InOmniaParatus13 I had this same problem on Wednesday!! I bought some mama maternity tights from H&M yesterday. Only tried them on so far so haven't quite tested them out all day but they were definitely more comfortable when trying on!
I can definitely recommend the H&M maternity skinny jeans I have on today - absolute game changer. I haven't been this comfy in weeks!

Also wanted to ask you ladies, has anybody told their employer yet? I'm really nervous about telling mine. I started my current job on 1st July - less than 4 weeks after finding out I was pregnant! I won't even be entitled to statutory maternity pay unfortunately because I won't have worked here for long enough.
I have my 2 month review meeting on the 30th Aug so would you advise I say something then? I'm struggling to hide my stomach now so I think I'll need to say by the end of this month. I know I will pass my review as I am in a job that I have been doing for almost 2 years in another city but just worried that they will all hate me for starting a job and going on maternity leave come Jan! Anybody had similar experiences before or any words of advice?

Pinkcat231 · 09/08/2019 20:41

Hi @S082018 I’m was in the same boat as you, started a new job then found out I was pregnant!

Really worried about being labelled one of ‘those’ women (as has happened with women at other places I’ve worked Confused) but I told them this week as I needed some additional appointments and I think they were getting a bit suspicious about that.

My manager seemed fine about it, which was a relief! The HR manager was a bit offish but they must know how dodgy it would be to get rid because of pregnancy so she’ll have to get over it!

Have you had any feedback on the work you’ve done so far? That was the only thing that made me worry less, the fact they’d already told me they were happy with my work. I’d say just ask for feedback then get it out of the way and tell them!

Good luck Smile

Soda123x · 09/08/2019 22:37

Hi all,
I have had my 1st scan today. Was a little apprehensive going in as not really had any symptoms or sickness etc.
From 1st day of LMP they had me at 12 weeks today. We had been trying so from clue app I thought 11+2. Baby was measuring 11 weeks today so unfortunately couldn't have the Nuchal screening as too small. Have another scan booked for in 2 weeks :)
All starting to feel real now we have seen the heartbeat on the screen and I can relax nothing is wrong I'm just one of the very lucky ones without sickness xx

InOmniaParatus13 · 10/08/2019 07:23

@S082018 I will give H&M a go, thank you! I felt super nauseous yesterday as the tights were digging into my stomach so bad and I was so uncomfortable! I will also give the H&M maternity jeans a go too 😁

In regards to work, I told them pretty early on, just after 8 weeks I think, but that’s only because morning sickness was wiping the floor with me, and they agreed I could work from home until it passed! I hope things go smoothly for you when you tell yours, I’m sure it will :)

Last night I had a dream that I gave birth naturally, to a 25lb baby hahaha 😳

S082018 · 10/08/2019 15:47

@Pinkcat231 pleased to hear someone is/has been in the same boat as me! Glad it went well for you telling work.

I've had loads of great feedback about my performance already which is nice, I'm not too worried about them commenting on my performance at work but more so the label I might get after telling them as you say one of "those"!

@InOmniaParatus13 I've worn the H&M tights for most of today and they're great 😊
And thank you I will keep you all posted when I eventually do tell work!

InOmniaParatus13 · 10/08/2019 16:04

@S082018 I’m glad you’re finding the tights great, I’m going to buy a pair tomorrow! 😁 it’s great that you’re getting loads of great feedback from your work too!

The private scan place rang me and said they are down a sonographer, so I can either have my gender scan at 12 on the 24th or wait until the Saturday after, I said 12 is fine as I’m too impatient to wait another week 😂

AprilFernLouise · 10/08/2019 18:41

My NHS scan is not until 13+4 so I had a private scan on Thurs at 11 +7. It was so worth it 100% put my mind at ease we were both over the moon and it was amazing they had a huge TV screen on the wall directly ahead of the bed so we could watch it all and they printed about 7 pics and sent them and a little video to my mobile. They dated me at 12+1 so as I expected really and due 19th Feb. So lovely to see everyone having their scans and happy news ❤

AprilFernLouise · 10/08/2019 18:43

I also ordered some maternity bottoms today from boohoo as they weren't too pricey and I think I will struggle with jeans and my work clothes soon too.

InOmniaParatus13 · 12/08/2019 08:31

@S082018 thank you so much for the H&M maternity tights recommendation! I got some yesterday and I’m wearing them at work today, I’m so comfy!

@AprilFernLouise lovely scan photo :)

I was sick last night, I really Hope morning sickness isn’t returning! Although I’m 13+6 so I doubt that! On the plus side, I have my dating scan tomorrow eeeee i’m So excited!

ImMeantToBeWorking · 12/08/2019 11:15

@Dweebette I signed DP up for weekly update emails. He gets really excited about what size the baby is etc. But they also talk about how I should be feeling (they are designed towards women but as he was away during the week I thought it would be nice for him) the week it said I would be feeling irritable, he laughed and said "Don't I know it". Maybe sign your DP up for something similar, I know you said it seems more real for him now since the scan but it might be no harm for going forward.

Welcome to all the newbies!! I hope everything goes well for you!!

I bought two pairs of jeans a size up a few weeks ago, this morning they are getting tight again!! I want to buy maternity jeans but I hate buying online. I am in Ireland and there seems to be very few places that do maternity clothes.

@S082018 do you find the H&M jeans true to pre pregnancy size? H&M sizes are so bad in normal clothes I find but I need something!!

Also, has anyone found any nice long tops or casual dresses for over leggings?

@AprilFernLouise congrats on you scan!!

S082018 · 12/08/2019 12:48

@InOmniaParatus13 ahh glad you're comfy today and are pleased with the tights! It's makes such a difference when you're comfortable in what you're wearing. I haven't stopped wearing my maternity jeans since I got them 😂

@ImMeantToBeWorking I bought a size 10 in the maternity jeans (pre pregnancy I was always either an 8 or 10 in bottoms) and the 10 are perfect. The 8 would be a bit tight I think! Especially because I've bought super skinny jeans. They usually say to go with your pre-pregnancy size in maternity and so far I've found thats the case!

I also bought some long T-shirt dresses from H&M (in medium). Not maternity wear but just from their basics range. They look great with tights! I bought a khaki and maroon one but thinking of going back to get the rest of the colours as they are perfect with just tights or can even pair with a nice cardi in the winter!
