I had never heard of maternity coat extenders! Thanks @Cupcakes1234 @Meowandchoppychops - will be googling. I do have a lot of big scarves, that’s my general autumn/winter look, so that will also help to keep me going.

brightbird · 29/10/2019 08:58

Thanks @Cupcakes1234 - will investigate.

I was recommended those coat extenders by a good friend as also being really good after as they can fit over baby if you are carrying. Plan to get one, but my coat still fits so not done it yet. Trying to get as few things as possible that are only good for a few months!

Cupcakes1234 · 30/10/2019 09:04

@bessie84 my son has come down with hand food and mouth too. Apparently it's rife at the moment. The doctor told me I'll be ok but not to google anything lol x

bessie84 · 30/10/2019 09:38

@Cupcakes1234 - oh no! Hope hes better soon. Its awful. :-( ive been worrying but then theres not alot we can do about it so got to carry on and hope for best. X

Cupcakes1234 · 30/10/2019 10:01

Thank you @bessie84 hope your little one is better soon too. Yeah try not to worry too much. I think it's more common for children to get it than adults. I think I'll mention it to my midwife anyway when I see her next month but there really isn't much we can do but sit tight and let it pass.

Meowandchoppychops · 30/10/2019 10:14

@Cupcakes1234 hand foot and mouth is rubbish, I caught it off my little girl and it the worst bit was the mouth ulcers. She went off her food for a few days but was fine after 2-3 days. Hope it clears up quick x

Meowandchoppychops · 30/10/2019 10:18

@bessie84 hope it clears soon for your little one

ronniemipperton · 30/10/2019 10:21

Bit late to this but I bought the Mamalicious 3 in 1 coat and I love it. It’s not cheap - I was going to just buy an XL coat from a charity shop - but I haven’t bought any other maternity clothes apart from some tights and after discovering my brother was giving us his old Uppababy I decided to splash out! Plus I don’t have a decent winter coat and I’ll definitely keep wearing this one for a good few years - the 3 in 1 thing is such a good idea. I don’t know how well the baby wearing bit of it works yet but really happy with everything else - it’s like being wrapped in a duvet 😊

45andfine · 31/10/2019 18:39

All prepared for diabetes test tomorrow, only for hospital to phone and claim I don't meet the criteria. Midwife said it was due to my age and having had an 9lb2 previous baby. Hospital says no as the criteria is 10lb baby. Feel a bit messed around.

bessie84 · 31/10/2019 19:36

@45andfine that's madness!! Ive not had a 10lb baby??? Ive had diabetes tests with all 5 of my pregnancies. Yet never had diabetes itself, just have bigger babies. Thats a right mess about. X

45andfine · 31/10/2019 20:01

@bessie84 strange isn't it? Each of the three midwives I've seen in the past 6 months have told me I'll need a test. I'm just bitter because I spent my day off setting cover work for my lessons tomorrow 😒🤔😉. I will be particularly annoyed if consultant tells me I do need the test next time I see him 🤣

bessie84 · 31/10/2019 20:14

@45andfine - are you having growth scans?
I hope you dont have to have it. How very strange.

45andfine · 01/11/2019 06:35

Yes, consultant booked me in for growth scan on couple of weeks. Assume that'll pick up if baby getting too big due to diabetes, though as I understand it the risk that they are looking for is baby not growing enough. It's all so confusing!

bessie84 · 01/11/2019 07:03

Very confusing. When i had my youngest now aged 3, i was tested for diabetes, didnt have it. However, on all growth scans she was huge. Was 9lb 11oz at birth at 37+5. Her sugars dropped, temp dropped and i had just over 2 litres of waters (measured when they suck it out during c-section) , midwife at time said these were all indicators of diabetes. Ive been so careful this time, with watching what i eat. Im still huge and at 20 week scan baby was a chubs so who knows. As long as theyre born healthy and alive thats all we can ask for. And its nice that we get the extra scans ect...just shite for you with been messed about.

My growth scan is on Tuesday. Im counting down the days. Ps. Woo hoo were in November ladies!

Dr273 · 01/11/2019 13:51

So I got my vaccinations, and now both arms kill still a week later, but esp whooping cough, so not sure why they put that one in my right arm when I'm right-handed. :/

Some lovely bumps, ladies!

@lovesT ah yes, FB marketplace... Also got a pram from there - with all the attachments. So despite not having a car, we have a carseat, et cetera. But it was only £70!

@OccasionalNachos my coat barely zips across my bump. Thinking of stealing something of DHs...

ballsdeep · 02/11/2019 08:33

I hope everyone is OK and doing well.
I've been signed off for at least a week with severe spd. I can't even walk up the stairs. I had this last time and was in a wheel chair and the physio doesn't do a lot tbh. I haven't told my boss yet, I'm saving that phone call for today. I'm a teacher and stating back after half term Monday!

45andfine · 02/11/2019 17:10

@bessie84 so your last baby was ok despite all of that? Assume she just needed a bit of extra tlc? I just worry so much, please someone take Google away from me!!!!

45andfine · 02/11/2019 17:11

@ballsdeep you def can't go back into school in that much pain! Teaching is hard enough without adding all that stress. How many weeks are you? They can't start your maternity until 11 weeks prior to due date can they?!

bessie84 · 02/11/2019 17:14

@45andfine - she was fine. Gave her a feed and her sugars picked up and she was in an incubator for an hour. She was perfect. Xx

doublebarrellednurse · 02/11/2019 18:51

I ended up in PAU last night, cramps and bleeding, all fine but 5 hours not well spent 🙈

I have to take it more easy but I'm not sure how to do that really, work is hectic, life is hectic, I have a teenager, a dog, im doing my MSc final year, I'm not sure how to relax!

Husband is doing everything he can and telling me off if I move this weekend.

ballsdeep · 02/11/2019 19:04

@45 thank you, I'm signed off now and we'll see how I go.

Omg that sounds so scary!! Are you feeling OK now? Did they say what the bleeding was. From xx

doublebarrellednurse · 02/11/2019 19:30

They didn't know, I did bleed early in pregnancy as I miscarried a twin very early on, they speculated it was left over from that and being so busy had dislodged it.

doublebarrellednurse · 02/11/2019 19:32

@ballsdeep it sounds like you're doing the right thing, I couldn't imagine teaching with that level of pain and discomfort

pinksquash13 · 02/11/2019 19:46

Hello all. I'm due with my first 15th Feb. I also had whooping cough and flu this week and my arms killed!! I've got diabetes test in 2 weeks and I'm a bit nervous as I've previously fainted with blood tests and a fasting one in the morning is my prime fainting condition. Any advice? I am starting to feel slow and bulky which isn't fun. I'm moving house soon so really must not over do it. Good tip about charity shop coats. None of mine do up but I don't want to spend a fortune.

Cupcakes1234 · 02/11/2019 21:39

@pinksquash13 same due date! No advice with your test though as I've never had it so I'm not sure how you can overcome it. Fingers crossed for you though!
