Due March 2020 - FIRST BABY in late 20's

lonelyonee · 24/07/2019 13:55

Hello!
Just wanted to start a new thread specifically for women who are in their late twenties & are having their first baby in March 2020! 🙂
Not trying to exclude anyone just think it will be nice to speak to women who are in the same sort of circumstances as myself. Plus the other March threads are pretty full!

Bit about me:

  • due 28th March 2020
  • 27 years old (DP is 24)
  • was on the combination pill for 12 years
  • been with DP a year and a half
  • SO excited as this is both our first baby (DP's ex had a miscarriage @ 10 weeks a few years ago)
  • feeling nauseous, boobs are killing, weeing loads & having cramps/pains.

Look forward to hearing your stories & sharing this experience with you! 🙂 xx

Ladies, hoping somebody may be able to shed some light/possibly offer some reassurance.. had my bloods done yesterday and the dr’s have phones asking for them to be repeated in two weeks. I asked why but the receptionist didn’t know anything, thinking about calling tomorrow to speak to the Dr but just stressing at the moment!!!

eskimod · 04/09/2019 18:50

@jlo6308
My midwife said if the bloods came back fine, I wouldn't hear anything until my next appointment with her. She said if my iron is low or whatever, they'd ring me. It could be something simple like you need to take some iron. Or maybe the test was inconclusive/ mixed up so they need to repeat for a better result?
Try not to worry but yes, I think you're entitled to an explanation, it's a bit mean to ring you and not give you any information!!! X

jlo6308 · 05/09/2019 20:48

@eskimod I called back today and the dr who’s requested the repeat isn’t in until Monday so in the receptionist’s words ‘I’ll have to wait until then.’ Fair to say I’m not thrilled! I did press her a bit more and explained why I was worried and she said there was nothing on the notes to say it was urgent, my urine sample was fine and one of the results was borderline so fingers crossed it’s nothing to worry about too much. I’ve asked her if they can call on Monday to give me more info so will hopefully know more then!

lonelyonee · 09/09/2019 10:34

Threads been pretty quiet lately. Hoping that means all is well with everyone?
@eskimod & @jlo6308 you lucky devils getting the holidays off. I'd have killed to have it off while I was struggling with nausea & exhaustion! Where did you guys have your blood tests? My midwife told me to get them done at the hospital. I'm at doctors in one area but having baby at hospital in another which is super confusing as I have two sets of notes and I'm a bit confused as to where I go to get them done. Normal bloods part of the hospital I would assume but I'm wondering who they go to... midwife or the hospital? 🤔

Any updates ladies?

I think I have finally turned a corner touch wood.
Saturday was a rough day. I have never seen one person crest so much vomit after eating so little but yesterday I had a pretty good day with only a touch of nausea in the evening and today I am as bright as a daisy so fingers crossed it stays this way!
Have got my 12 week scan on the 16th when i will actually be 12+5. Just praying that everything will be okay as I haven’t managed to take the recommended amounts of folic acid everyday due to sickness.
How is everyone else doing?

MockingJay27 · 09/09/2019 10:51

Hi I am well thank, hope everything is ok @jlo6308, not fair to worry you like that.

I have my 12 week scan this Thursday, I should be 12+3, I’m very excited but also really nervous, has anyone else had theirs yet?

lonelyonee · 09/09/2019 14:53

@Eventrider1 aww that's so good to hear, glad you're feeling so much better now! I wish I could say the same I've gone from nausea/no vomiting to no nausea/vomiting unexpectedly.
@MockingJay27 so exciting Thursday is so close!!!
Oh yay! Looks like all our scans are on the horizon, but I feel like I'm gonna see all of yours before I have mine cause mines gonna be at 13 weeks exactly on 21st, feels forever away!
Has anyone bought much yet? Or discussed baby names?
🙂 xx

Good Afternoon ladies, hope you don't mind me joining this thread so late, I have only just joined Mumsnet (been trawling through threads for months now so finally decided to sign up!) I've being reading this particular thread with interest!
I'm 25 and 12+1 with my first. Had my first scan on the 5th and baby was happy and healthy! I was crippled with fear that Sonographer wasn't going to find babies heartbeat or worse.. nothing! Was so relieved when we saw that little baba in there.
How have you ladies been symptom wise? I have being having a 'sicky' feeling most days and extreme tiredness but other than that I have felt fairly okay. I'm lucky to be able to say I'm not working at the moment, I was running a charity shop three days a week but decided to give it up as it was getting too much for me. OH has a good job so I'm really fortunate to be able to rely on him for the time being. We also have a rescue greyhound so have him to contend with all day too.

I look forward to hearing from you ladies soon! P.S how do I upload a photo? (clueless) lol. Would love to share our scan photo with all you love mamas to be.

Much love
X

eskimod · 09/09/2019 18:53

@lonelyonee
I loved not having to go to work for 6 weeks but it's hard getting back into the swing of things now I'm back!
My bloods were done at my booking appointment but the midwife couldn't get any blood out because of my rubbish veins! So I had to go to the women's hospital the day after where they took it from my hand.
I'm 11+4 now and have my first scan next wed when I'll be 12+6. Feeling nervous about that but it'll be the first time we've seen the baba so fingers crossed everything is okay. I hope they don't put my date back too much! X

eskimod · 09/09/2019 18:55

@lonelyonee
Also, haven't bought anything yet just in case. Want to wait until later when we know all is good. We have spoken a little about names but haven't agreed anything yet!

jlo6308 · 09/09/2019 20:49

I know @lonelyonee but as @eskimod says.. it’s a nightmare trying to get back into routine, I teach Reception so currently trying to settle 30 new started which is exhausting to say the least, however never a dull moment I assure you 😂 I know @MockingJay27, I’ve been so uptight about it, called today (half an hour before they closed because I hadn’t heard anything.. again) my my platelets are marginally on the high side so they want to check it’s normalised. I’m hoping it’s the fact that the tests were done the day after I went back to work after six weeks off so my body will have been all out of sorts! Congratulations on your scan @HighOnStilts that’s so exciting! I’ve had similar to you, just tired and a bit queasy at times so think we’ve just been lucky ☺️

lonelyonee · 10/09/2019 22:54

Welcome @HighOnStilts & congratulations! Glad to hear your scan went well 🙂 there's a little paper clip you can click on and select the photo to upload. Sounds like you've had a pretty easy first trimester. I personally had extremely bad nausea & exhaustion, couldn't eat a thing so I've lost around a stone in weight. Now I'm 11 + 3 and although the nausea has gone and I'm able to eat a little more I'm being sick randomly out of the blue 🤷🏼‍♀️ also having had some issues with constipation piles have reared their ugly head 🙄 typical! Haha!
@eskimod ahh I suppose so! Are you supposed to fast beforehand? Midwife didn't advise to but I don't want to be going back and fourth to the hospital (the parking prices are ridiculous). I'm sure all will be fine! Ahh I hope they don't with me too, I'd be gutted to have to wait longer! Plus I'm pretty sure my dates are accurate. I've not either but I'm planning on going to buy a lovely little snowsuit/teddy suit type thing the day of the scan and I'm just way too excited about it!
@jlo6308 aww not all fun and games then I suppose, small children are exhausting so I get you. Sure you'll both be back in the swing of things in a couple of weeks 🤞🏻🙂 the bloods thing doesn't seem to be anything to worry about else they'd have made sure to consult you.

Hope everyone else is well who hasn't checked in xx

jlo6308 · 11/09/2019 19:04

Ladies, when did you get your scan appointments? I’m 11 weeks today and haven’t heard anything. Thinking I should contact my midwife if I don’t get a letter/appointment by tomorrow?

eskimod · 11/09/2019 20:50

@jlo6308 my midwife rang the hospital while I was with her st my booking appointment and made my scan appointment. I have been worried because I haven't received a letter but today I received a text to say my appointment is next week, so feel calmer now. I'll be 12 weeks tomorrow and 12+6 on my scan day.
@lonelyonee
No they told me not to fast, eat and drink plenty they said. I'm quite positive of my dates too but depending on growth etc they can still change the dates can't they?

lonelyonee · 12/09/2019 11:02

@jlo6308 my midwife arranged it and I received a letter just a few days later. I would give them a call and see what's what. Although mine is at 13 weeks so don't be too concerned if it's later than 12 weeks as long as it's before 14 they can still do the tests.
@eskimod yeah I didn't think so, I went yesterday morning and I was back in the car 20 minutes later... was amazed how fast it was! At the hospital as well! Although I hadn't actually eaten that morning as I felt a bit iffy but shouldn't matter too much I shouldn't think.
Literally counting down the days to my scan now... 9 days to go (including today) hurry up!!!!! Although I am really nervous about telling family as I've mentioned before 😔

OP posts:
eskimod · 12/09/2019 16:52

@lonelyonee My scan is a week today! Can't wait but scared at the same time.
Also very nervous about telling family. My sister is about to give birth, don't want to steal her thunder before but also don't want to wait until after and steal baby's thunder! I'm sure it will be fine though and she won't see it like that... my OH family will probably get told first as it's the first niece/nephew/ grandchild. X

jlo6308 · 12/09/2019 16:57

I called, the midwife didn’t actually put the referral through until Monday so the hospital haven’t actually processed it yet, should hear any day now though! Just getting impatient as I want to know everything’s still ok! It’s just killing me keeping it a secret now, I have a similar thing with stealing thunder @eskimod as my sister’s just got married and has her wedding party in a couple of weeks. Sure it’ll be fine though, everybody quickly comes around and gets excited, even if they don’t seem to be at the beginning :)

Dinosauraddict · 13/09/2019 05:05

Welcome @HighOnStilts
Everyone else - sorry I've been AWOL for a
week. From my side am now 14+3. Had scan at 13+0 and as part of consultant appointment at 13+6 so had lots of chance to see wriggly baby. Got next scan at 16+1 where hopefully we'll find out the sex. Had screening for downs etc back and all looks good (v relieved as problems on both sides of family so I felt like it was going to be high risk). Nursery is basically finished; all furniture bought etc. Things seem to be progressing well.

MockingJay27 · 13/09/2019 07:09

Hi everyone.
My scan went well yesterday. Actually measuring 4 days ahead at 13 weeks so due date has come forward to March 19th. Is anyone good with nub theory want to take a guess at the sex? I'm so impatient

Due March 2020 - FIRST BABY in late 20's
SLT90 · 13/09/2019 09:18

I've not really been on MN much lately because now that the initial few weeks are out of the way I've felt less need to binge the threads looking for information 🤣

I'm 13+1 today (2nd trimester already!!!) and had my scan a week ago today. They moved my date forward by one day by estimation as baby wasn't cooperating for measurement 😂 so I have the same new due date as you @MockingJay27! Was honestly one of the best days of my life. Was nearly surprised to see there was actually a baby, very relieved. Little bump is growing by the day but I'm resisting maternity clothes so far even though I bought some last week to celebrate. Generally feeling good! No sickness, just exhausted in the evenings and can't watch TV anymore without sleeping. Eating well, just trying not to eat too much. We've now told a lot of our family, friends and colleagues, and may do a fb announcement in a few weeks.

Glad to hear everyone else is doing well!
Welcome @HighOnStilts

Good morning ladies thank you for the warm welcome!!
Eeeeek I'm so excited for you all getting your scans. I keep looking at our scan picture and does anyone else feel like it's so alien? I can't get my head around the fact that little baba is inside me!! Crazy.
I've finally figured out how to upload a photo, thank you! Hope all you girls are well. Do any of you have any remedies for nausea? I've been told ginger biscuits but everytime I go to the shop I forget them (baby brain) Wink

Oh wow! I've come back to scans! 🥰

@eskimod exciting! aww I'm sure they'll be thrilled for you, you defo won't be stealing their thunder I don't think. It's a bit more awkward for me as my sister has never had children but always wanted one. She is also of the opinion that I'm "too young" to settle down etc... this is only because of her misfortune to not do so though I reckon (projection much). My dad is a man of few words so won't have much to say other than asking if I'm happy 😂
@jlo6308 WHAT? That's bad... surely they need to do it as far in advance as possible to ensure they get you in at the right time? You should have your appointment any day now then tbf.
@Dinosauraddict welcome back haha 🙂 aww that's fantastic! Are you showing yet? I still can't get my head round how organised you are, I've still not bought a single thing... although I can't really buy anything like nursery furniture as we need to move first as I've mentioned before.
@MockingJay27 awww! That's such a good pic! Haven't got a clue about nub theory... maybe we should all swat up so we can have a guess!
@SLT90 lovely pics! Ahh really? I'm impatient to see a bump now 🙊😂 I've been scouring the maternity friendly sites for dresses for a christening we have in November as there's no way I'm going to fit into anything I have by then. Glad you're not really having any symptoms, there is hope for us all! Aha!
@HighOnStilts it's a very exciting time on here at the mo! Yeah ginger biscuits help loads with nausea, I constantly had a pack with me at work over the last few weeks. Although now I'm not nauseous I'm randomly vomiting which I don't think can be helped 🤷🏼‍♀️ aww what a lovely photo! Is that how you've told family and friends? I'm planning on making cards at home, then putting the scan photo in on the day and handing them out. Don't think I'd actually be able to get the words out! 😂

OP posts:
SLT90 · 13/09/2019 14:03

@HighOnStilts I was just so I'm awe at the scan that the little person on screen was in my tummy! I still can't link the two in my mind - it's so surreal isn't it. At least now I know baby is sitting higher than I thought, and myself resting my hand where they are and wondering what they are up to! I had nausea quite badly for a few weeks and found that eating very regularly helped (even though I didn't feel like eating). Things like salted crisps, fruit, carrot sticks and houmous, flap jacks all helped me. I also found having a snack before bed and eating as soon as possible after waking helped to make the whole day better on general!

@lonelyonee yes it's only really the last 2 or 3 days that the bump has started to really appear rather than just being bloat. Have been wearing loose clothes to disguise it at work but wore a tighter top at home a couple of evenings ago and was a bit shocked that I actually looked pregnant 🤣 today in work I've had to unbutton my jeggings when sitting at my desk!
I was only really nauseous badly from weeks 6 to 9, then it just was a couple of random days, so have been lucky. Starting to get other issues instead now though, like hip pain and restless sleep at night from being generally uncomfy! Are you still suffering? Have a look at the JoJo Maman Bebe website, they have gorgeous maternity clothes that don't look too shapeless. I bought a couple of sale dresses from them last week to use for work in a few months time.

lonelyonee · 15/09/2019 08:37

@SLT90 ahh okay, I'll wait a little longer before I have a full scale meltdown due to not seeing a bump then 🙊😂 I'm just so excited for it!
Ahh that's not too bad, I suffer from sciatica so Im used to being super uncomfortable in bed, well just add hip pain to the list haha. Tbh not suffering with nausea at all but the last 2/3 weeks I've been randomly vomiting. I say random because it's happened when I've not eaten and when I have and comes on very suddenly. Although yesterday was a vomit free day so maybe the last of that (here's hoping 🤞🏻). Other than that just the dizziness and god damn piles that I think made an appearance due to pretty bad constipation that I had a few weeks ago, oh and the exhaustion... still napping as much as I can.
Ahhh I'll have to have a look thank you! I did have a look on boohoo as everything's on sale atm but waiting on bloody payday to do anything this month ☹️

Hope everyone's doing well! xx

This is my first pregnancy, I'm nearly 17 weeks pregnant and still no bump. I suffer severe anxiety and worry, and I'm driving myself insane thinking something is wrong. How do I overcome this? Are other people at 17 weeks still not showing or is not just me? Xx
