ElenorRigby · 15/08/2007 16:34

Eeeek just had a bloody show!!!

growingbagpuss · 15/08/2007 16:34

It is quiet isn't it?!

Maybe they all got blown away by this mad wind we've got.

Neighbour popped in earlier to see how things are, offered to take DS off and bribe him with sweets if the inevitable happens and I go into v strong labour when I'm on my own with him.! He's such a dope he'd go anywhere!!

katybird · 15/08/2007 16:34

I'm still around too, no action here yet. Went out for lunch with NCT girls, v amusing trying to squeeze six heavily pregnant women and a Bugaboo round a small table !

Good luck with the sweep pink, hopefully it'll do the trick.

Bagpuss, what a cow at the supermarket! Hope you're not dwelling on it too much. I'm the same, I get so annoyed with myself for not saying anything to people. About six months ago I was sat next to a horrible woman on the bus who pushed me because she said I was squashing her against the window, even though she was half on my seat. Some people are just nasty, try to forget about it. Karma will come back and bite her on the bum.

Someone months ago had a bump that was clicking, did we ever get to the bottom of it? Mine's started doing it now.

growingbagpuss · 15/08/2007 16:35

oh oh oh oh!!!!!! Any tightenings? any thing else?.......

katybird · 15/08/2007 16:35

Ooh, you ok Elenor?

tokentotty · 15/08/2007 16:44

Blimey - another one !!! My cousin had one last night as well as me !! Everyone keeps telling me to go out walking but it's so bloomin' miserable here I can't face it !
And yes, it was my bump also that was doing snap, crackle and pop impressions !! Still get them quite a lot.

Hello - just back, induction booked for due date (28th) - Consultant said thet the scans weren't very reliable and babies are often smaller than the scan shows - he then had a bit of a feel and then said - oh this is a big one! My bump is nowhere near the size of ichy's though so don't know what's in there - please say you're only 4 ft tall!

Feels like ages for me to go - another 2 weeks of lunches out and nesting! So we've had the first - who's going to be last to pop? Is anyone else feel like they are missing something by not being on the postnatal thread? Will be dead on this one in another week!

lizziemun · 15/08/2007 16:59

The ECV worked.

They turned LO this morning, so hopefully it will stay the right way.

I find out when i see the midwife on friday.

I have to say it was not as painfull as i thought it would be. It was more painfull when the consultants latex gloves stuck to my skin.

tokentotty · 15/08/2007 17:06

Oh Lizziemun that's great news. Really pleased for you.

OP posts:
loler · 15/08/2007 17:08

wow - thats really good news - it worked for someone! Now you'll have to do lots of forward sitting to make sure it doesn't turn back!

Got to go and get DC from nursery and have really enjoyed having house to myself - shame that nursery don't do a bring home and put to bed service (would pay lots for it) - I don't mind going up and giving them a kiss on the way to a nice warm bath!

stretchmarks · 15/08/2007 17:19

congratulations Lizziesmum on the ecv.

Hope the sweep works for you tonight pink.

Well it looks like I'm going in for the induction tomorrow no labour going on here.
I've had a sweep, a show, done aromatherapy, walking, hot curries, raspberry leaf tea, sex and reflexology and still not got labour going.

Just feeling incredibly teary and soooooooo fed up now. I have the inlaws round asking when I'll be out of hospital as if I have some kind of crystal ball and know when they'll be able to set me off, how long it will take and how it will end up

Sorry for sounding off but as you can probably tell I am feeling very fed up today and need a good cry but it's hard to do when you've got people in your house. Will have to sneak off in a bit.

katybird · 15/08/2007 17:20

Yay for you lizziemun! Hope the baby stays there now.

Loler, at least you know there's only two weeks to go max and you'll have your LO! I'm sure I'll be here with you till the end, not due until 23rd and I'm showing no signs yet, not even nesting. I'm happy to wait a bit longer tho, still got loads to sort out.

katybird · 15/08/2007 17:25

Poor you stretchmarks, you can't say you haven't tried everything! Hopefully the induction will work quickly. Feel free to have a good moan. The last thing you need when you're feeling teary is people asking lots of questions but maybe they're trying to be supportive and don't know what else to say. Take yourself off and have a good cry, and just think, in a couple of days you'll meet your LO!

divamumplusbump · 15/08/2007 17:55

good to hear ECV worked for you lizziemun.
very pleased to hear. i have no news, nothing so far

loler · 15/08/2007 17:57

Stretchmarks - (easier said than done) but try not to worry too much about the induction. You only get to hear peoples horror storries about them. Mine was a really good experience, I felt in control the whole time and wasn't forced to do anything I didn't feel comfortable with. This time I'm worried about going into labour before being induced!

As you've had a show you're likely to be pretty ready to go without too much interference - looking forward to hearing your good news birth story (maybe on Friday ?!)

pinkrangerstartstowaddle · 15/08/2007 18:01

Poor you Stretch - not long now whatever happens!
Did i say my day couldn't get any worse ,well just had to have a trip up to A&E as ds after being told a number of times to " put that 5p down" managed to swallow it!!!!!!!!!!!
Lots of tears and going red but still breathing ( thank god) did freak me out a bit, then got angry ( as us mums do because i had told him) then cried with relief that he WAS ok. rang NHS direct and they said to take him up there to make sure it was stuck, so after me sitting there for 1 hour dh has had to take over as i have midwife coming!
Be glad when this weeks over!!!!

bambi06 · 15/08/2007 18:07

will i still be able to have a homebirth if im induced..im not talking any drugs but if ..and a big IF i try a sweep or pessary? this is my las tbaby[third] and i`m desperate for a homebirth

stretchmarks · 15/08/2007 18:14

Pink - sounds like today is just one of those days. Hope he's ok though.

Loler - I was induced with DS1 and it was quick and ok I have just been building myself up abit over the last few days as you just can't predict what's going to happen fingers crossed it will all go well and I'll get to meet junior at last. I just hope that they aren't too busy tomorrow and we can get going.

ElenorRigby · 15/08/2007 18:16

GBP and Katybird...

Nope just a proper show...no tightenings with it so far. So I'll just carry on trying to keep busy for the moment!

Had 6 ffing phonecalls from my family today GRRRRR!!!!! They are without doubt a huge pain in the ass!!

They are all demands and take with only my dad giving a little.

Inconsiderate arses!

stretchmarks · 15/08/2007 18:17

Bambio - I don't think you can have a homebirth if you are induced I can't be induced at the midwife led unit because of the potential increase in risks with induction. Induction is usually started with the gel/pessary

You can still have a homebirth trying all the "natural" methods which includes sweeps.

Trinaj · 15/08/2007 19:12

Well, I'm back.
Just a short note to let you all know we're well.
Alfie Daniel was born at 8.10am yesterday, weighing 8lb 13.
All did not go quite according to plan but we're well now and home.
Haven't had a chance to catch up on thread yet so congratulations to anyone I missed.
Shall post full story and photos later.

growingbagpuss · 15/08/2007 19:19

Well done Trina - hope you're well, and look forward to hearing more!!

Pengy · 15/08/2007 19:36

Congratulations Trinaj, must be great to be at home now with Albie. Well done Lizziemun, fingers crossed for you LO stays head down!

I think I'll also be fighting the last on this thread loler as not due until 24th and after trying to convince myself she would be early now think I've jinxed it and she'll be 2 weeks late!

Hope the sweep works for you Pink and soon you'll be rewarded with your LO and the traumas of this week will seem long forgotten.

Pengy · 15/08/2007 19:37

Oops, Alfie, sorry Trinaj
