divamumplusbump · 07/08/2007 20:41

congratulations to babymad and treacle
and good luck to bananabump. sounds slowly getting there, i was too wondered about annie, hope she is alright and went well with ecv. im having plenty raspberry leave tea and followed by icecream

bananabump · 07/08/2007 20:46

It's all slowed down again now. I give up.

pinkrangerstartstowaddle · 07/08/2007 21:37

BB for you, wont be to long for you i hope!!

Someone asked if Annie had a Text buddie, just checked and she dosnt so we will have to wait!

bananabump · 07/08/2007 22:05

I hope she's ok, is she the first breech we've had? It's been a while, hope she's recovering nicely by now with her baby.

Thanks pink, they sped up over two or three hours to about 7 minutes apart and lasting a minute long, and then slowed down again quickly until now it's been an hour without one. I really don't understand what's going on.

If I have to sit through another boring lonely day of stupid irregular pointless contractions I think I'll go into meltdown. As it is I feel like I have terrible PMT, I'm craving chocolate, binging on rubbish and a bit weepy and irrational. My dp has his nose in Harry Potter completely oblivious. I know I'm not being very fair: he's worked all day and really there's nothing he can do to change anything but I feel like I may as well be alone in the house.

Sorry for moaning! I'll try to cheer up now and stop eating so much nutella.

growingbagpuss · 07/08/2007 22:18

Bananabump - you'll get there -the more crappy stuff you get, the bettter, as your real labour should be shorter. If your waters break and THEN you have crappy stuff - NOW that IS nasty.

Good luck for it all kicking off good and proper soon....

Pengy · 07/08/2007 23:15

Oooh Banana hope the real thing happens for you soon. Must be so frustrating having on/off contractions. Fingers crossed for you

bananabump · 08/08/2007 03:23

I think it is the real thing actually

I had a bloody show shortly after midnight and contractions have continued albeit about 20-30 mins apart while I've been in bed too excited/uncomfortable to sleep. They're now as strong as the worst period pains/digestive pains I've ever experienced, I can still breathe through them (they don't last long) but they're pretty hard to ignore when they're here!

Going to take a couple of paracetamol and go back to bed to try and get some rest. I'm so excited and a little bit scared of the unknown, have no idea if I'll be able to actually sleep but it's probably a good idea to try.

Uki · 08/08/2007 05:15

GO Banana

Hope your holding LO soon, sounds like the real thing to me.

I was awake 4 hours last night with niggly pains and movement, but think it was just LO engaging more.

bananabump · 08/08/2007 06:28

Thanks Uki! Hopefully it won't be long for you either. They do a lot of "settling" (mine has been up and down three times but I knew he was down properly when the bump went pointy two days ago)

Well I rested but I didn't really sleep, they're a bit too painful for that. The paracetamol did nothing! I'm hoping they won't ask me to lie down for monitoring because as soon as I even vaguely lie on my back it gets mega intense and painful. I'll just refuse point blank!

I think I'll stick a bit of makeup on and straighten my hair. I don't really give a shit what I look like right now but it'll give me something to do and focus on.

Ooh handy tip by the way for all those of you who have bought a tummy tub. I was sitting on mine earlier, its very comfortable and I imagine must open up the pelvis a bit like sitting on the toilet/birthing ball does. (I have a fear of the ball bursting mid bounce!)

saturn · 08/08/2007 07:00

ooh banana, how exciting for you. by the end of the day you should be holding your LO!!! keep us updated if you can and good luck with it .

I remember reading someone saying that if they do need you to lie down for monitoring 20 mins is all they need and then you can get back up - so don't let them try to make you lie down for longer than that.

growingbagpuss · 08/08/2007 07:32

Good Luck bananabump!! Hope all those practice contractions make for a nice easy labour!!

WE are doing well aren't we?!!

bananabump · 08/08/2007 07:33

thanks saturn

Don't want all that monitoring crap, if I can help it!

bananabump · 08/08/2007 07:35

Morning bagpuss well, I hope it'll help! I'm just so glad things are actually happening at last, I didn't want to keep making a tit of myself at every twinge lol

saturn · 08/08/2007 07:36

how far apart are the contractions now banana?

bananabump · 08/08/2007 07:52

5 minutes, lasting about 45 secs. still not absolutely regular, that's why she said to wait til they were regular for a couple of hours

growingbagpuss · 08/08/2007 08:08

Blumin' hek woman - you're still here!!

Hope it's not too awful waiting for things to get into a pattern - and that you've had a bit of sleep, and something to eat.

Do keep your strength up - even if it's only sweet drinks -you'll need your energy, and as I have been told a few times - its not called "labour" fro nothing - so go eat/ drink.

xx

bananabump · 08/08/2007 08:16

Still here, was just going to jump in shower but was waylaid by a bowl of cornflakes. Just munched my way through a contraction so it can't be all that bad yet! lol

Didn't get any sleep, feel a teeny bit tired but I've got some lucozade and some energy snacks for later, I'm sure I'll be ok.

How's everyone else doing this morning anyway?

mum2george · 08/08/2007 08:20

Morning Banana, haven't caught up yet but just noticed you are on your way Am so excited for you. Just think you could have your LO by the end of the day, yipee!

growingbagpuss · 08/08/2007 08:25

I'm seeing the m/w this afternoon - and she's planning on doing a sweep - the thought of which I am hoping will send me into labour.

My surrogate parents are taking me, and then the husband is picking DS up from nursery. Not sure I really want company - but at least with someone else driving me if it all gets a bit exciting, I don't have to try and drive back from the surgery!!

Knowing my luck it won't work.......

bananabump · 08/08/2007 08:26

Ta! How's Emmeline doing? and (reassure me!) how are you doing now a few days on?

bananabump · 08/08/2007 08:32

(Sorry for all the messages guys, I just want to keep chatting, dp has still got his nose in Harry sodding Potter!)

Bagpuss, the sweep may very well work, when is/was your due date? I can never find the link to the stats thread. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you today, hope it isn't too uncomfortable for you.

I spose I'd better go grab that quick shower and then wash up, don't want to leave the house a mess. back in a bit x

stretchmarks · 08/08/2007 08:36

Good luck Banana sounds like it's happening for you now.

tokentotty · 08/08/2007 08:36

How are you doing today Stretch ?

OP posts:
pinkrangerstartstowaddle · 08/08/2007 08:40

oh good Luck BB - so exciting now!! Good on you for eating through the contractions, when i was in the delivery suite having ds the dinner lady came round and said " dont suppose you want your dinner you order" - Stupid lady of course i do, i ate my way through my ham salad while having contractions !!

GBP -good luck today with the sweep, what are you now 40+ ? I also have midwife today and am going to get her to comment on weather she will swrrp me at 40, i have got the sorest of " lady bits" ever, they are so swollen and i actually had to take parecemtol for them last nite oh the Joys of pregnancy

Hersetta · 08/08/2007 08:42

Good luck banana - hope it goes really well.

Remember to put your foot down about continuous monitoring. 20 minutes and then you are out of there. Don't let them throw the weight card at you - you have had a perfectly normal pregnancy and there's no reason you should be treated differently from a skinny minny.

All the best.
